The Role of Methionine Restriction in Gastric Cancer: A Summary of Mechanisms and a Discussion on Tumor Heterogeneity

Gastric cancer is ranked as the fifth most prevalent cancer globally and has long been a topic of passionate discussion among numerous individuals. However, the incidence of gastric cancer in society has not decreased, but instead has shown a gradual increase in recent years. For more than a decade, the treatment effect of gastric cancer has not been significantly improved. This is attributed to the heterogeneity of cancer, which makes popular targeted therapies ineffective. Methionine is an essential amino acid, and many studies have shown that it is involved in the development of gastric cancer. Our study aimed to review the literature on methionine and gastric cancer, describing its mechanism of action to show that tumor heterogeneity in gastric cancer does not hinder the effectiveness of methionine-restricted therapies. This research also aimed to provide insight into the inhibition of gastric cancer through metabolic reprogramming with methionine-restricted therapies, thereby demonstrating their potential as adjuvant treatments for gastric cancer.

Association of homocysteine and polymorphism of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase with early-onset post stroke depression

Background

Homocysteine (Hcy) has been indicated to be involved in pathophysiology of post stroke depression (PSD). There is a lack of research to study the relationship between Hcy metabolism genes and PSD. Our study aims to investigate the relationship among Hcy metabolism genes, Hcy, and early-onset PSD.

Materials and methods

We recruited 212 patients with stroke and collected their peripheral blood sample, clinical data, and laboratory test on admission. 12 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR), methionine synthase reductase (MTRR), and methionine synthase (MTR) genes were genotyped by high-resolution melt analysis. PSD was diagnosed by DSM-V at 2 weeks after stroke. Binary logistic regression and haplotype analysis were used to examine the association between Hcy metabolism genes and PSD. Mediation analysis was performed to clarify whether the SNPs exerted their effect on PSD by affecting the Hcy level.

Results

81 patients were diagnosed with PSD, and the incidence rate was 38.2%. Hcy level in PSD group was significantly higher than it in non-PSD group (p = 0.019). MTHFR rs1801133 AA genotype an A allele were associated with an elevated risk of PSD after adjustment for some confounding factors (OR = 4.021, 95% CI: 1.459∼11.080, p = 0.007 for AA genotype; OR = 1.808, 95% CI: 1.172∼2.788, p = 0.007 for A allele). Furthermore, the effect of MTHFR rs1801133 AA genotype on PSD was mediated by Hcy (OR = 1.569, 95% CI: 0.013∼3.350, p < 0.05).

Conclusion

MTHFR rs1801133 and Hcy were associated with PSD, and MTHFR rs1801133 may exert an effect on PSD via mediating Hcy level. This offers a new perspective for treating PSD and understanding the mechanism of PSD.

Analysis of the frequency distribution of five single-nucleotide polymorphisms of the MTRRgene in a Chinese pediatric population with acute lymphoblastic leukemia

STUDY OBJECTIVE

The objective of the present study was to examine the frequency distribution of five single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs; rs1801394 A>G, rs1532268 C>T, rs162036 A>G, rs10380 C>T, and rs9332 C>T) of the methionine synthase reductase (MTRR) gene, their effects on methotrexate (MTX) concentration, and the risk of relapse in a Chinese pediatric population with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

DESIGN

This was a retrospective single-center study, and all analyses were exploratory.

SETTING

Pediatric Department of Beijing Shijitan Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.

PATIENTS

One hundred and forty pediatric patients with ALL.

INTERVENTION

All patients were treated according to the Chinese Children's Leukemia Group (CCLG)-ALL 2008 protocol.

MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS

Serum MTX concentrations were measured using fluorescence polarization immunoassay. Genotyping of five SNPs was performed using the Sequenom MassARRAY iPLEX platform. Chinese children with ALL had a significantly lower frequency of rs1801394 G than European (EUR) and South Asian (SAS) populations; significantly lower frequency of rs1532268 T than American (AMR), EUR, and SAS populations; and significantly lower frequencies of rs162036 G, rs10380 T, and rs9332 T than African and AMR populations (p < 0.01). Seven haplotypes were observed, with the ACACC being the most common haplotype (49.9%) in our study. The median dose-normalized concentrations of MTX in serum at 24 h in children with rs1532268 CT and TT genotypes were significantly higher than those with CC genotype (p = 0.04). Compared with children with AA-CC-AA-CC-CC diplotype, a significantly higher risk of relapse was observed in children with AG-CC-AA-CC-CC and AG-CC-AG-CC-CC diplotypes (p = 0.03 and 0.003, respectively).

CONCLUSIONS

The present study confirmed the ethnic differences in the distribution of MTRR rs1801394, rs1532268, rs162036, rs10380, and rs9332 polymorphisms. The rs1532268 polymorphism had greater effects on MTX disposition. The AG-CC-AA-CC-CC and AG-CC-AG-CC-CC diplotypes were significantly associated with higher risk of relapse of ALL.

MTRR rs1532268 polymorphism and gastric cancer risk: evidence from a meta-analysis

OBJECTIVE

The methionine synthase reductase (MTRR) gene encodes the MTRR enzyme involved in the metabolic pathway of homocysteine. Several studies investigated the effect of the MTRR rs1532268 gene polymorphism on the risk of gastric cancer (GC), but the results have been inconsistent.

METHODS

We performed a comprehensive and systematic search of PubMed, Google Scholar, MEDLINE, Science Direct, Scopus, CNKI, and Web of Science. Five studies were included in this meta-analysis to determine whether MTRR rs1532268 polymorphism contributes to the risk of GC.

RESULTS

Pooled data indicated that the MTRR rs1532268 polymorphism significantly increased GC risk under the allele comparison model (odds ratio [OR] = 1.14, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.01-1.29) and dominant model (OR = 1.14, 95% CI = 1.00-1.30). In the analysis stratified by ethnicity, no relationship was found in Whites or Asians.

CONCLUSION

Our meta-analysis suggests a positive correlation between MTRR rs1532268 polymorphism and GC development.

ThPOK transcriptionally inactivates TNFRSF12A to increase the proliferation of T cells with the involvement of the NF-kB pathway

Gastric cancer (GC), originated from gastric mucosa, is a malignant tumor causing numerous deaths globally. The present study used the coculture of T cells with supernatant of the GC cells (HGC-27, SNU-1) and investigated the function and regulatory mechanism of Zinc finger and BTB domain containing 7B (ZBTB7B, alias ThPOK) on T cell proliferation. Flow cytometry analysis was used to measure the proliferation of CD3⁺ T cells and IFN-γ⁺ T cells. We found that low level of ThPOK was associated with poor prognosis in GC patients. ThPOK was lowly expressed in GC cells at the mRNA and protein levels. ThPOK overexpression inhibited GC cell viability and promoted proliferation of T cells. ThPOK was identified to function as a transcription factor for TNFRSF12A. TNFRSF12A was upregulated in GC tissues and cells and high level of TNFRSF12A was associated with poor prognosis in GC patients. ThPOK knockdown elevated TNFRSF12A level in GC cells. ThPOK was revealed to bind with the promoter of TNFRSF12A. TNFRSF12A silencing also inhibited GC cell viability and promoted T cell activation and proliferation. Additionally, ThPOK was demonstrated to inactivate the NF-kB pathway by downregulating TNFRSF12A in GC cells. Overall, ThPOK suppresses cell viability in GC and increases the activation and proliferation of T cells by targeting TNFRSF12A to inactivate the NF-kB pathway.

Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase C677T (Ala>Val, rs1801133 C>T) polymorphism decreases the susceptibility of hepatocellular carcinoma: a meta-analysis involving 12,628 subjects

C677T (Ala>Val, rs1801133 C>T), a non-synonymous variant of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene, has been found to be associated with an impair enzyme activity of MTHFR. The relationship of MTHFR rs1801133 with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been extensively investigated. However, the findings were conflicting. Recently, more investigations have been conducted on the relationship of MTHFR rs1801133 with HCC. To obtain a more precise assessment on the effect of this non-synonymous variant to the development of HCC, a pooled-analysis was performed. This meta-analysis consisted of 19 independent case–control studies. By using the odds ratio (OR) combined with 95% confidence interval (CI), the relationship of MTHFR rs1801133 with HCC risk was determined. A total of 19 independent case–control studies were included. Finally, 6,102 HCC cases and 6,526 controls were recruited to examine the relationship of MTHFR rs1801133 with HCC risk. In recessive model (TT vs. CC/CT), the findings reached statistical significance (OR, 0.90; 95%CI, 0.82–0.98; P = 0.016). Subgroup analysis also found an association between MTHFR rs1801133 polymorphism and the decreased risk of HCC in hepatitis/virus related patients (recessive model: OR, 0.85; 95%CI, 0.72–0.99; P = 0.035, and allele model: OR, 0.90; 95%CI, 0.81–0.99; P = 0.028). Subgroup analyses indicated that extreme heterogeneity existed in Asian population, larger sample size investigation, hospital-based study and normal/healthy control subgroups. The shape of Begger’s seemed symmetrical. Egger’s linear regression test also confirmed these evaluations. Sensitivity analyses suggested that our findings were stable. In summary, our results highlight that MTHFR rs1801133 polymorphism decreases HCC susceptibility. The relationship warrants a further assessment.

Association Between MTHFR C677T Polymorphism and Susceptibility to Autism Spectrum Disorders: A Meta-Analysis in Chinese Han Population

Prior studies have examined the influence of MTHFR C677T on autism susceptibility, however, there are no consensus conclusions and specific analyses of a Chinese population. This meta-analysis included a false-positive report probability (FPRP) test to comprehensively evaluate the association of MTHFR C677T polymorphism with autism susceptibility among a Chinese Han population. A large-scale literature retrieval was conducted using various databases including PubMed, Embase, Wan Fang, and the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) up to July 31, 2020, with a total of 2,258 cases and 2,073 controls included. The strength of correlation was assessed by odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs). MTHFR C677T showed a significant correlation with increased ASD susceptibility under all genetic models (T vs. C, OR = 1.89, 95% CI 1.28 to 2.79; TT vs. CC: OR = 2.44, 95% CI 1.43 to 4.15; CT vs. CC, OR = 1.73; 95% CI 1.19 to 2.51; CT + TT vs. CC: OR = 2.03, 95% CI 1.31 to 3.15; TT vs. CT + CC, OR = 1.95, 95% CI 1.21 to 3.13). Stratification analysis by region also revealed a consistent association in the Northern Han subgroup, but not in the Southern Han subgroup. Pooled minor allele frequency (MAF) of 30 studies were 45% in Northern Han and 39% in Southern Han. To avoid a possible "false positive report," we further investigated the significant associations observed in the present meta-analysis using the FPRP test, which consolidated the results. In conclusion, MTHFR C677T polymorphism is associated with the increased risk of autism in China, especially in Northern Han. For those mothers and children who are generally susceptible to autism, prenatal folate and vitamin B12 may reduce the risk that children suffer from autism, especially in Northern Han populations. In the future, more well-designed studies with a larger sample size are expected.

Association study between KCNQ1 and KCNQ1OT1 genetic polymorphisms and gastric cancer susceptibility and survival in a Chinese Han population: a case-control study

Background

The present study analyzed gene polymorphisms in the potassium voltage-gated channel KQT-like subfamily member 1 (KCNQ1) and the long noncoding RNA, KCNQ1OT1, and their impacts on genetic susceptibility and survival in a Chinese Han population with gastric cancer (GC).

Methods

We designed a case-control study that included 681 patients with GC and 756 healthy controls. Three single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the KCNQ1 gene region and eight SNPs in the KCNQ1OT1 gene region were selected for further research.

Results

Among the 11 SNPs, we found no significant differences in the genotype and allele frequencies between GC patients and the healthy population. Hierarchical analysis by the log-additive model indicated that the KCNQ1 rs231348 CT genotype was significantly associated with an increased GC risk in individuals aged ≥55 years, regardless of gender. The KCNQ1OT1 rs231352 CC and rs7128926 AA genotypes increased the risk of GC in individuals with stage III/IV tumors larger than 5 cm in diameter. On evaluating the genotype polymorphism and survival analysis, we detected that the AA genotypes of the KCNQ1OT1 rs7128926 and rs7939976 polymorphisms presented a significant survival advantage over the GA/GG genotypes, especially in patients with the following characteristics: age >55, Helicobacter pylori infection, BMI >24, tumor in the non-cardia region with a diameter greater than 5 cm, clinical stage II, and postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy.

Conclusions

Our results suggest that the KCNQ1 rs231348 and KCNQ1OT1 rs231352 polymorphisms might be independent predictors of the risk of GC susceptibility depending on certain factors, such as the age of the individual and the tumor stage and diameter. Simultaneously, genotype polymorphism of the rs7128926 and rs7939976 loci of the KCNQ1OT1 gene independently predicted the recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) of GC patients.

Relationship between MTHFR Gene Polymorphisms and Gastrointestinal Tumors Development: Perspective from Eastern Part of Turkey

BACKGROUND

Gastric and esophageal cancers are 2 of the most prevalent cancer types worldwide. Polymorphisms in the genes that code the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) enzyme increase the formation of both cancer types. In this study, it was aimed to research the relationship between the existence of MTHFR C677T and A1298C polymorphisms in patients with gastric and esophageal cancer and the lifespans of patients.

METHODS AND MATERIALS

This prospective study was performed at Van Yuzuncu Yil University. Included in the study were 30 patients with esophageal tumors, 70 patients with gastric tumors, and 61 healthy volunteers. From each of the patients, 5 mL of blood was drawn. DNA was isolated via kits with spin-column technology.

RESULTS

It was concluded that the risk of developing gastric cancer was 4.13 times higher in individuals who had the AC genotype of the A1298C polymorphism when compared to those who had the AA genotype, while the risk was 2.91 times higher in individuals who had the CC genotype when compared to those who had the AA genotype (P = 0.001, P = 0.027). Carriers of the AC genotype of the A1298C polymorphism had 2.89 times higher risk of developing esophageal cancer when compared to those who had the AA genotype (P = 0.033). It was determined that individuals who had the 1298 CC genotype were not at higher risk of developing esophageal cancer when compared to those with the AA genotype (P = 0.863). It was concluded that individuals who had the TT genotype of the C677T polymorphism were not at higher risk of developing gastric and esophageal cancers when compared to those who had the 677CC genotype (P > 0.05). There was no difference in terms of the life spans of the patients with regards to the genotypes (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSION

The results showed that the A1298C polymorphism on the MTHFR gene can be a risk factor for gastric and esophageal cancer in eastern Turkey. These polymorphisms may have no effect on the life spans of the patients.

Impact of IL1R1 polymorphisms on the risk of head and neck cancer in Chinese Han population

AIM

The incidence of head and neck cancer (HNC) is increasing but its pathogenic factors are complex. Changes in both internal (genetic) and external (environmental) causes HNC to some extent. The purpose of our study was to investigate the influence of IL1R1 polymorphisms on HNC risk in Chinese Han population.

METHODS

Genotypes of 535 HNC patients and 538 healthy controls were analyzed by Agena MassARRAY. Odds ratio (ORs) and 95% confidence interval (CIs) were calculated by logistic regression analysis to evaluate the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and HNC susceptibility.

RESULTS

It was found that the rs956730 of IL1R1 reduced the risk of HNC in multiple models (allele: OR = 0.76, 95% CI: 0.62-0.93, p = 0.008; codominant: OR = 0.43, 95% CI: 0.25-0.75, p = 0.003; recessive: OR = 0.45, 95% CI: 0.26-0.77, p = 0.004; additive: OR = 0.77, 95% CI: 0.63-0.94, p = 0.01). IL1R1 rs956730 had a protective effect on HNC at age ≤ 46. However, the rs3917225 increased a 1.31-fold HNC risk in the codominant model (OR = 1.31, 95% CI: 1.00-1.70, p = 0.03).

CONCLUSION

Our study showed that the rs956730 of IL1R1 gene in Chinese Han population was associated with a reduced risk of HNC, while the rs3917225 of IL1R1 might increase the risk of HNC.

Clinical Characteristics and Analysis of Lung Cancer- Associated Acute Ischemic Stroke

INTRODUCTION

The incidence of lung cancer and acute ischemic stroke remains high in recent years, both of which occur mostly in people over 60 years old. In the present study, we aimed to further clarify the pathogenesis of lung cancer-associated acute ischemic stroke (LCA-AIS) by comparing and analyzing clinical characteristics of stroke patients with or without lung cancer.

METHODS

A total of 51 patients with lung cancer were selected as the case group (LCSG), and 78 patients without cancer history were adopted as the control group (SG). The data collected in this study included sex, age, traditional cerebrovascular disease risk factors (TCDRFs), blood test index, imaging findings, etiological typing, and prognosis evaluation. SPSS21.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Normally distributed data were analyzed by t-test, and count data were analyzed by chi-square test or exact probability method. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.

RESULTS

In the case group, the levels of plasma D-dimer, fibrinogen degradation products (FDPs) and NIHSS, as well as the mRS score and mortality of patients, were higher, while the levels of RBC, Hb and Hcy were lower compared with the control group. Imaging findings showed that multivessel involvement was more common in the case group, and the infarcts were more likely to be multiple and involved in both the anterior and posterior circulations. The TOAST classification of LCSG was dominated by stroke of undetermined etiology (SUE) and stroke of other determined etiology (SOE). Statistical analysis showed that the patients were more likely to suffer from acute ischemic stroke within 1 year after the diagnosis of lung cancer (41 cases, 80.39%).

CONCLUSIONS

Hypercoagulability and acute multiple brain infarcts were more common in patients with LCA-AIS, and hypoproteinemia and hyponatremia were more likely to occur in these patients, leading to worse prognosis. Patients were most likely to have a stroke within 1 year after the diagnosis of lung cancer.

Association of MTHFR gene polymorphisms with pancreatic cancer: meta-analysis of 17 case-control studies

BACKGROUND

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a seriously malignant tumor with a low 5-year survival rate. The relationship between methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene polymorphisms and PC has been reported by several studies. However, the results were controversial. Thus, we conducted a meta-analysis to summarize available data on MTHFR gene and PC.

METHODS

We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Wanfang, CNKI databases prior to July 2019. Data were analyzed by RevMan 5.3 and STATA 12.0 software. Odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were used to evaluate the strength of the association. Subgroup analysis, sensitivity analysis and assessment of publication bias were performed in this study.

RESULTS

Ten articles with 17 reports (10 for C677T, 7 for A1298C) were eligible for inclusion in the meta-analysis (1864 cases and 3165 controls for C677T, and 1488 cases and 1946 controls for A1298C). Our meta-analysis detected that C677T was associated with PC for three genetic models (allele model: OR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.00-1.53, P = 0.047; recessive model: OR = 1.39, 95% CI: 1.04-1.86, P = 0.027; homozygous model: OR = 1.60, 95% CI: 1.04-2.45, P = 0.034). In the stratified analyses according to ethnicity, source of controls and genotyping method, significant association was observed in genotyping method subgroup. For the A1298C polymorphism, no significant association was observed either in overall analysis or in subgroup analysis under all genetic models.

CONCLUSIONS

MTHFR gene C677T rather than A1298C polymorphism may be associated with PC. Larger sample size studies should be performed to find the association between MTHFR gene and PC.

Influential factors and prognostic analysis of blood vessel invasion in advanced gastric cancer

The purpose of this study was to analyze the influencing factors of BVI in advanced gastric cancer and explore the factors affecting the prognosis of advanced gastric cancer, so as to accurately evaluate the disease status and enable patients to receive effective treatment. We retrospectively analyzed 622 cases with complete data and successful follow-up. BVI was found in 144 of the 622 patients with advanced gastric cancer, with a detection rate of 23.15%. BVI was closely related to the differentiation degree, infiltration depth and lymph node metastasis of advanced gastric cancer, (P <  0.05). Gender, age, tumor location, tumor size, Lauren classification, tumor M stage, and clinical TNM stage were not the influencing factors of BVI in patients with advanced gastric cancer (P >  0.05). The 5-year survival rate of patients in the positive group of BVI was 34.72%. The 5-year survival rate of patients with advanced gastric cancer was correlated with BVI, Lauren classification, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, and clinical TNM staging, (P <  0.05). The 5-year survival rate was independent of gender, age, tumor location, tumor size, tumor tissue differentiation, and M stage (P >  0.05). The results of multi-factor analysis showed that BVI, N stage and clinical TNM stage were independent predictors of prognosis in patients with advanced radical gastric cancer. By analyzing the stage and related prognostic factors of resectable advanced gastric cancer, we found that BVI was not only closely related to lymph node metastasis, but also an independent predictor of prognosis of advanced gastric cancer. As this study was only a single-center retrospective study, there may be a selective bias in clinical data. So large-scale and multi-center collaboration is needed to further explore the influencing factors of BVI in the progression of gastric cancer.

Association of polymorphisms in LOC105377871 and CASC16 with breast cancer in the northwest Chinese Han population

BACKGROUND

Breast cancer represents the cancer with the highest incidence and mortality among women in the world, and its pathogenesis is complex. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are one of the factors that influence the risk of breast cancer. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of LOC105377871 and CASC16 polymorphisms on the risk of breast cancer in the northwest Chinese Han population.

METHODS

We selected 503 breast cancer patients and 503 healthy controls for the present study. Genotyping was performed using the Agena MassARRAY system (Agenea Bioscience, San Diego, CA, USA) and we evaluated the association between SNPs (rs17530068 and rs4784227) and the risk of breast cancer in four genetic models. Unconditional logistic regression was used to calculate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).

RESULTS

It was found that the rs17530068 increased the breast cancer risk in log-additive model (p = 0.047, OR = 1.23, 95% CI = 1.00-1.50). After stratification, the "T" allele of rs4784227 increased the risk of lymph node metastasis in breast cancer patients (allele: p = 0.025, OR = 1.51, 95% CI = 1.05-2.17; codominant model: p = 0.008, OR = 1.99, 95% CI = 1.20-3.31; dominant model: p = 0.008, OR = 1.94, 95% CI = 1.19-3.16; log-additive model: p = 0.023, OR = 1.52, 95% CI = 1.06-2.19).

CONCLUSIONS

The results of the present study show that, in the northwest Chinese Han population, SNP rs17530068 (LOC105377871) increases the risk of breast cancer and SNP rs4784227 (CASC16) promotes lymph node metastasis in breast cancer patients.

Association study between genetic polymorphisms in folate metabolism and gastric cancer susceptibility in Chinese Han population: A case-control study

Background

Gastric cancer (GC), the second leading cause of cancer mortality behind lung cancer worldwide, is caused by both genetic and environmental factors. In this study, we evaluated the association between the genetic polymorphisms of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR), methionine synthesis reductase (MTR), and methyltransferase reductase (MTRR) genes and ischemic stroke risk in Chinese population.

Methods

A case–control study was conducted including 681 patients with GC and 756 healthy controls. Chi‐squared test/Fisher's exact test and genetic model were used to evaluate associations. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using unconditional logistic regression.

Results

In the allele model, using the chi‐square test, we found that the rs1532268 in MTRR with a minor allele T was significantly associated with increased risk of GC (OR = 1.24, 95% CI, 1.00–1.53; p = 0.048). In the genetic model analysis, we identified that the single‐nucleotide polymorphism of the rs1801133 in MTHFR could increase the GC risk in the recessive model (OR = 1.31, 95% CI, 1.01–1.70; p = 0.042) and log‐additive model (OR = 1.19, 95% CI, 1.02–1.38; p = 0.025). In MTHFR, a strong linkage of rs2274976 and rs1801133 was detected. The haplotype “GC” in the MTHFR gene was found to prominently increase the risk of GC (OR = 1.26, 95% CI: 1.07–1.47; p = 0.005). Other haplotypes did not display the correlativity.

Conclusion

This study suggested that MTR and MTHFR polymorphisms may contribute to increase the risk of GC.
