Abstract
OBJECTIVES Childhood cancer survivors often experience long-term health challenges like muscle weakness and obesity. Physical activity is essential for alleviating these effects, and technological interventions are being recommended to promote physical activity. This systematic review aimed to evaluate technological interventions' impact on childhood cancer survivors' PA levels. METHODS The systematic review followed PRISMA guidelines and included studies published until May 2024 from various databases. The Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal tools were used to assess study quality. The study was registered in PROSPERO under registration number CRD42024564857. RESULTS A total of nine studies were included in the review: four were randomized controlled trials (RCT), three were feasibility studies, and two were pilot studies. These studies, involving a total of 417 childhood cancer survivors, utilized a wide range of technological interventions. Six of the studies were of good quality, while three were of fair quality. Three studies used mobile apps, two used web-based platforms, two utilized m-health solutions, one incorporated a video game, and one employed a telehealth application. The results revealed that two-thirds of the mobile applications were ineffective in enhancing physical activity. In contrast, one of the m-health applications proved to be effective. Additionally, web-based platforms, telehealth applications, and video games demonstrated effectiveness in increasing physical activity. CONCLUSIONS Technological interventions show promise for improving physical activity among childhood cancer survivors, with six studies demonstrating significant benefits. More research is needed to identify effective strategies and optimize intervention designs, focusing on long-term outcomes. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE This systematic review assesses technology-based interventions aimed at promoting physical activity in childhood cancer survivors. The findings emphasize the potential and variability of digital tools, underscoring the necessity for additional research to refine intervention strategies and facilitate long-term physical activity among this group.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Symptom distress and functional impairments in children with leukemia directly affect their quality of life. OBJECTIVES To identify subgroups of symptom distress and functional impairments in Chinese children with leukemia and to examine the associations of the latent classes with individual characteristics. METHODS This multicenter cross-sectional survey study recruited children with leukemia who received chemotherapy in 4 hospitals in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Guangdong Province. The participants were surveyed via PROMIS-25 (Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Pediatric-25 Profile). Latent profile analysis and multinomial logistic regression model were performed to identify subgroups of symptom distress and function impairments among children with leukemia. RESULTS Latent profile analysis results suggested the classification of 3 subgroups: profile 1: "moderate symptom distress, moderate mobility impairment with fair peer relationship function" group (69, 28.3%), profile 2: "mild symptom distress, no mobility impairment with good peer relationship function" group (97, 39.8%), and profile 3: "no symptom distress, no mobility impairment with good peer relationship function" group (78, 32.0%). Sociodemographic characteristics, including gender of the children, gender and marital status of the parents, average monthly income of the family, and reimbursement ratio of treatment expenses, had significant associations with the latent profile membership ( P < .05). CONCLUSION This study identified 3 distinct profiles of symptom distress and functional impairments in children with leukemia and found significant associations between these profiles and sociodemographic characteristics. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE The classification of the 3 latent profiles in children with leukemia helps to provide targeted supportive intervention to those children and their families.

Abstract
PURPOSE In childhood cancer survivors (CCS), high physical activity (PA) and low sedentary time may reduce risks of late-effects. PA behaviors and screen time, and how they relate to moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA) in CCS, are largely unknown. We examined PA behaviors and screen time, and their cross-sectional associations with MVPA. METHODS CCS from any cancer diagnosis (≥ l year post-treatment), aged 9-16 years at study, were eligible in the international Physical Activity in Childhood Cancer Survivors (PACCS) study. PA behaviors (school transport, intensity-effort in physical education ("PE intensity"), leisure-time PA) and screen time were assessed by self-report, and MVPA by accelerometers (ActiGraph GT3X-BT). Multivariable linear regressions were used to assess associations between PA behaviors and screen time with MVPA. RESULTS We included 481 CCS (48% girls, mean age 12.2 years). Passive school transport (prevalence 42%) was associated with 10% lower MVPA/day (β = 6.6 min, 95% CI 3.3-10.0), low PE intensity (prevalence 21%) with 16% lower MVPA/day (β = 10.2 min, 95% CI 6.0-14.3), and low leisure-time PA (prevalence 34%) with 15% lower MVPA/day (β = 9.4 min, 95% CI 1.0-17.7), compared to active school transport, high PE intensity and high leisure-time PA, respectively. High screen time was not associated with MVPA. CONCLUSION Interventions aiming to increase PA behaviors rather than reducing screen time may be more efficient in promoting a healthy lifestyle in CCS through increased MVPA. Encouraging active transport, high PE intensity, and high leisure-time PA seems important in survivorship care. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Young CCS may benefit from engaging in active transport, high PE intensity, and high leisure-time PA.

Abstract
This narrative review aimed to identify young cancer survivors' behaviours, experiences, and perspectives concerning physical activity, and identify useful strategies for promoting a healthy lifestyle. A manual search on the following databases was conducted: PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. The search was conducted between June 1, 2023, and April 12, 2024. Articles published from database inception up to April 12, 2024, were retrieved. Articles published in any language were considered. Perspectives including ideas, perceived barriers, and facilitators have been identified. Young cancer survivors seem to engage in physical activity as a useful coping strategy to regain normality and keep healthy after the cancer diagnosis. Although emotional and social support seems fundamental to increase participation, several other factors, including physical limitations, fatigue, sex, cancer type, and socio-economic status can influence physical activity participation. For those engaged in physical activity, the preferred activities are walking, biking, going to the gym, and exercising at home, while the least preferred are exercising at the hospital or boot camp-based exercises. Yoga is more frequently chosen by those still under treatment. Young cancer survivors appear to have unique needs different from those of adult cancer survivors. Mode of treatment delivery, increased awareness concerning the effects of physical activity, including families and friends, connecting survivors, and providing social support together with increasing motivation are key strategies for the promotion of physical activity in young cancer survivors. Fitness and healthcare professionals should consider these aspects to increase young cancer survivors' involvement in physical activities.

Abstract
PURPOSE Preschool children receiving cancer treatment experience decreased gross motor function and challenges in personal and social development. For preschoolers, parents are critical for their child's cancer treatment trajectory, including their participation in physical activity. This study aimed to explore the parents' experiences with a novel rehabilitation intervention, including structured active play for preschoolers with cancer during treatment. METHOD Through criterion sampling, 23 parents of 18 preschool children diagnosed with cancer were interviewed from August 2021 until April 2023. A hermeneutic-phenomenological-inspired inductive thematic analysis was performed. RESULTS Based on 19 interviews with parents, three themes emerged: 1) pushing in the right direction, 2) sharing the responsibility, and 3) creating joyful experiences. The parents experienced that participation in the intervention resulted in physical progress for their child, and the child generally could develop personally and socially. The parents shared a common goal with a healthcare professional, who led the way in their child's physical development and gave them the space to participate with their child. The child actively chose to participate in structured active play, resulting in an altered perception of the hospital experience for both parents and children. CONCLUSION The parents' experiences showed that with the support, knowledge, and expertise of an exercise professional, rehabilitation including structured active play can be a way to integrate movement and physical activity for preschoolers in their cancer treatment trajectory. The repetitive structure of the active play sessions was experienced as motivating for the children and simultaneously challenging their physical, social, and personal development. Abstract
BACKGROUND Pediatric cancer survivors (PCS) with overweight and obesity are at risk for various secondary chronic diseases. Although previous research has found physical activity (PA) as beneficial after treatment, the PA levels are low among PCS, highlighting the need for lifestyle interventions targeting PA. METHODS A secondary analysis of preliminary baseline data from a multi-site trial, NOURISH-T + , a healthy lifestyle intervention for PCS with overweight and obesity, and their caregivers, was conducted to assess factors related to PCS PA (i.e., moderate to vigorous intensity PA, MVPA). Kendall's Tau-b was used to assess correlations between PCS MVPA, health and treatment-related factors, and caregivers' sedentary behavior and MVPA. Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test was used to assess the differences between PCS and caregiver sedentary behavior and MVPA. A multiple linear regression analysis was performed to determine predictors of PCS MVPA. RESULTS Seventy-three PCS-caregiver dyads were included in this analysis (N = 146). Many of the PCS were female, diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, stage 1, with a mean body mass index (BMI) percentile of 94.4 ± 4.7. Caregivers were female and parents to the PCS. Significant correlations were found between PCS MVPA, time since treatment, PCS weight change since COVID, caregiver sedentary behavior and MVPA. Significant differences were observed between PCS and caregiver sedentary behavior and MVPA. Household income, radiation treatment, and caregiver MVPA were significant predictors of PCS MVPA. Conclusions: Demographics, cancer treatment type, and caregiver role modeling are important factors to consider when developing future lifestyle interventions for PCS. Abstract
Background: Transitioning from active cancer treatment to survivorship represents a vulnerable yet underresearched phase for adolescents and their families. Knowledge of their support needs, the challenges they experience, and how they manage them are useful to inform tailored follow-up care. Thus, we aimed to explore their transition experiences. Method: We interviewed 15 adolescents (12-19 years) who had transitioned off of treatment 1 to 47 months prior at Oslo University Hospital's Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology and their biological parents (n = 16). The interviews were analyzed using inductive, reflexive thematic analysis inspired by Braun and Clarke. NVivo-12 was used for data management. Results: Four main themes were identified: (a) consequences of cancer beyond transition, (b) transition back to normalcy, (c) survivorship competence, and (d) changes in roles and relationships. The families described happiness and relief but also said that the lingering effects of cancer treatment had a profound impact on day-to-day living. The adolescents expressed closeness with and dependency on their parents, and they perceived family and friends as essential for social readjustment. Discussion: Although adolescent survivors and their parents described a wide variety of strategies for returning to "normalcy," their perspectives also illustrate ongoing psychosocial and educational support needs that changed over time. Our findings indicate a need for improved preparation for and support through the transition. Nurses are well positioned to provide continuous and structured transition support tailored to the needs of the individual survivors and their families.

Abstract
PURPOSE Cancer survivors have a high risk of mortality, and vitamin D (VD) is associated with the risk of mortality. This study is aim to examine the impact of VD on mortality in cancer survivors. METHODS A prospective study was conducted using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Participants were obtained information on their baseline characteristics, dietary habits, comorbidities, lifestyle, and serum 25-hydroxy VD [25(OH)D] concentrations. The weighted Cox proportional hazard and competing risk regression models were used to estimate the hazard ratio and 95% confidence intervals (HR, 95% CI) of mortality for different serum 25(OH)D concentrations. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) curves were utilized to illustrate the dose-response relationship between serum 25(OH)D concentrations and mortality. RESULTS The study encompassed 2,495 participants with cancer diagnoses. Multivariate models indicated that, compared to serum 25(OH)D concentrations below 58.5 nmol/L, concentrations exceeding 81.6 nmol/L were associated with reduced HRs for all-cause mortality (HR = 0.70; 95% CI: 0.56-0.87), cardiovascular mortality (HR = 0.53; 95% CI: 0.32-0.86), and cancer-specific mortality (HR = 0.66; 95% CI: 0.45-0.99). RCS curves revealed "L-shaped" associations between serum 25(OH)D concentration and both all-cause and cancer-specific mortality, with threshold effects at 87.9 nmol/L and 84.6 nmol/L, respectively. Conversely, the relationship between serum 25(OH)D concentration and cardiovascular mortality exhibited a more linear pattern, with a threshold at 88.7 nmol/L. Subgroup analyses highlighted a gender-specific interaction that elevated serum 25(OH)D concentrations were significantly more protective against mortality in males than in females, especially regarding cancer-specific mortality (P-interaction = 0.009). CONCLUSION Elevated serum 25(OH)D concentrations were correlated with decreased risks of all-cause, cardiovascular, and cancer-specific mortality in cancer survivors, with benefit thresholds at 87.9, 88.7, and 84.6 nmol/L, respectively. These findings suggested that cancer survivors might benefit from higher vitamin D recommendations than the general population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although the survival rates of childhood cancer are increasing, children diagnosed as having cancer experience psychological and physical problems and a declining quality of life (QOL). METHODS A systematic review of PubMed databases was conducted up to September 2023 to identify studies reporting the effects of group exercise intervention in children with cancer. The inclusion criteria were pre-specified, including children aged ≤19 years old who received group exercise intervention and interventional studies written in English. Studies involving non-exercise intervention or non-group intervention were excluded. RESULTS Five studies were included in the present review. In three studies, QOL and physical parameters were improved after group exercise intervention, and in two studies, only physical parameters were improved. Improvements in QOL were achieved through psychosocial variables, improved scores of subscales of pain and hurt, nausea, and procedure-related anxiety, and reduced cancer-related fatigue. All studies had high numbers of participants who completed the intervention. However, all studies showed a high risk of bias regarding the selection of the reported results, and most studies showed a high risk of bias regarding deviations from the intended intervention and outcome measurement. CONCLUSION The reviewed studies showed that group exercise intervention for children with cancer could improve their QOL and/or physical parameters.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Physical activity (PA) may modify risks of late effects after cancer. We aimed to examine levels of PA and sedentary time (ST) in a large, international sample of adolescent childhood cancer survivors in relation to sociodemographic and cancer-related factors and compare levels of PA and ST to reference cohorts. METHODS Survivors from any cancer diagnosis who had completed cancer treatment ≥1 year ago, aged 9 to 16 years, were eligible for the multicenter Physical Activity in Childhood Cancer Survivors study. PA and ST were measured by ActiGraph GT3X+ accelerometers. We performed linear regression analyses to assess factors associated with moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA) and ST, and compared marginal means of total PA, MVPA, and ST in 432 survivors to sex- and age-stratified references (2-year intervals) using immediate t-tests for aggregated data. RESULTS Among survivors, 34% fulfilled the World Health Organization's PA recommendation of ≥60 min of daily MVPA on average and their ST was 8.7 hours per day. Being female, older, overweight, a survivor of central nervous system tumor, or having experienced relapse were associated with lower MVPA and/or higher ST. Generally, male survivors spent less time in MVPA compared with references, whereas female survivors had similar levels. Both male and female survivors had higher ST than references in nearly all age groups. CONCLUSIONS The low PA and high ST in this large sample of adolescent childhood cancer survivors is worrisome. Combined, our results call for targeted interventions addressing both PA and ST in follow-up care after childhood cancer.
