Abstract
Abstract
Mixed surfactant systems are used in different applied fields like pharmaceutical formulation rather than single surfactant. Therefore, the determination of the clouding nature of the triton X-100 (TX-100) + Tween 80 (TW-80) mixture was carried out in H2O and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). In the occurrence of PVA, the cloud point (CP) values of TX-100 initially enhance with enhancing the concentration of PVA and tend to decrease after a certain concentration. For different ratios of TX-100 and TW-80 mixture having the same concentration of both solutions, CP values increase through the decreasing ratios of TX-100 with/without PVA. In the presence of polymer, at higher ratios of TX-100 than TW-80, the CP values are higher in magnitudes in comparison to the aqueous medium but at lower ratios of TX-100, the value of CP are lower in magnitudes in comparison to the aqueous system. The CP values of the TX-100 + TW-80 mixture in the salt system are lower in magnitudes than the aqueous medium in both the absence/presence of PVA. However, a reduction of CP values was obtained to a large extent for Na2SO4 over NaCl in the case of lower volume ratios of TX-100. Various thermodynamic variables (standard free energy (

Abstract
The fluoroquinolone antibiotic drug namely ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (CFH) is widely prescribed for the treatment of different bacterial infections. The interaction of CFH with a synthetic polymer, polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP), and biopolymer, bovine serum albumin (BSA) was studied by UVvisible and fluorescence spectroscopic methods at different temperatures. The binding constant (K b ) for the CFH-PVP complex was determined from the Benesi-Hildebrand plot. PVP of different molecular weights (MW) (such as 24,000, 40,000, 360,000, and 700,000 g. mole-1) were used for the interaction between CFH and PVP. The gradual increase in K b value and the complexation reaction was found to be much enhanced with the augmentation of the MW of PVP. The values of K b were also found to be increased with increasing temperatures as well as with the increase of electrolyte/acetic acid concentration. The Gibbs free energy of binding (∆G 0) values of the interaction process was negative which indicates the complex formation is thermodynamically spontaneous. The positive values of enthalpy (∆H 0) and entropy (∆S 0) of binding connote that the binding force for CFH-PVP complexation is hydrophobic in nature and the complexation is entropy controlled. The negative intrinsic enthalpy (∆H *,0) values indicate the high stability of CFH-PVP complexes. Molecular docking calculation discloses the existence of similar binding forces between CFH and PVP obtained by the analysis of experimental data from UV-visible spectroscopic method. The binding constant between CFH and BSA (K b ), quenching constant (K sv ), the number of binding sites (n), and the quenching rate constant (K q ) for the CFH-BSA system were also calculated. The values of K sv , K q , and n for the CFH-BSA system are lower in 0.05 mol L-1 urea solution and higher in PVP solutions compared to those of aqueous medium.

Abstract
Herein, the interaction among the antidepressant drug amitriptyline hydrochloride (AMT) and a green gemini surfactant, ethane-1, 2-diyl bis(N,N-dimethyl-N-tetradecylammoniumacetoxy) dichloride (14-E2-14), via numerous techniques such as tensiometry, fluorimetry, FT-IR and UV-visible spectroscopy in three different media (aqueous 0.050 mol·kg-1 NaCl, 0.50 and 1.0 mol·kg-1 urea) were investigated. AMT is used to treat mental illness or mood problems, such as depression. The aggregation of biologically active ingredients can enhance the bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs. A significant interaction between AMT and 14-E2-14 was detected by tensiometric study as the critical micelle concentration (cmc) of AMT+14-E2-14 is reduced upon an increase of mole fraction (α1) of 14-E2-14. The decrease in cmc indicates the nonideality of studied mixtures of different compositions. Although, employed drug AMT is freely soluble in the aqueous and non-aqueous system but is not hydrophobic enough to act as its carrier. Instead, gemini surfactant formed spherical micelles in an aqueous system and their high solubilization capability, as well as their relatively lower cmc value, makes them highly stable in vivo. The cmc values of AMT+14-E-14 mixtures in all cases were further decreased and increased in NaCl and urea solutions respectively as compared with the aqueous system. Numerous micellar, interfacial, and thermodynamic parameters have been measured by applying various theoretical models. The obtained changes in the physicochemical assets of AMT upon adding of 14-E2-14 are likely to enhance the industrial and pharmaceutical applications of gemini surfactants. The negative interaction parameters (βm and βσ), indicate synergistic attraction is occurring in the mixed systems. The aggregation number (Nagg), Stern–Volmer constant (Ksv), etc. are attained through the fluorescence method, also supporting the attractive interaction behavior of AMT+14-E2-14 mixtures in all solvents. The Nagg was found to increase in the salt solution and decrease in the urea system compared with the aqueous solution. FT-IR and UV-visible analysis also depict the interaction between the constituent alike tensiometry and fluorimetry methods. The results suggested that gemini surfactants may serve as a capable drug delivery agent for antidepressants, improving their bioavailability.

Abstract
Herein, a conductivity method was engaged to explore the effects of a fluoroquinolone drug, namely ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (CFH)/CFH + polyols (organic compounds with multiple hydroxyl groups (glucose and fructose)), on the aggregation phenomenon of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) at different temperatures (298.15–318.15 K) while maintaining a gap of 5 K. In this study, the critical micelle concentration (cmc) of the SDS/SDS + CFH mixture in water and polyols media was determined from plots of the specific conductivity versus the concentration of SDS to gain knowledge of the effects of CFH/CFH + polyols on the micelle formation behavior of SDS. The cmc value of the surfactant decreases in the presence of CFH in an aqueous medium; thus, CFH favors the micellization of SDS. The cmc values of SDS and the SDS + CFH mixture were enhanced in polyols media. The cmc values of SDS/SDS + CFH show a U-shaped behavior with temperature. The counterion dissociation (α) of the pure surfactant is higher in the presence of the drug and is further enhanced through an increase in the CFH concentration in water/polyols media. Different thermodynamic parameters, such as the Gibbs free energy of micellization , standard enthalpy , entropy , different transfer energies and enthalpy–entropy compensation parameters of micellization were determined and illustrated in detail to compare these parameters between the pure SDS and SDS + CFH mixture in polyols media. The negative values of for the SDS/SDS + CFH mixture in all cases indicate spontaneous micelle formation. The and values indicate the presence of both hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions amongst the studied components. A conductivity method was used to see effects of a ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (CFH)/CFH + polyols (organic compounds with multiple hydroxyl groups (glucose and fructose)) on aggregation phenomenon of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) at 298.15–318.15 K.![]()

Abstract
Abstract
Studies of the interaction between the zinc-peptide complex ([Zn(II)-Gly-Gly]+) and ninhydrin in aqueous and CTAB surfactant media were executed by the means of UV-visible spectrophotometry. The reaction rates (k
obs and k
ψ) were determined in both media by varying different parameters such as pH, temperature and the concentration of the reactants and CTAB. The micellar binding constants and activation parameters were also calculated. The catalytic activity in the CTAB medium was found to be better than in the aqueous medium on the title reaction. The catalysis by CTAB is treated quantitatively by applying the model of the kinetic pseudo-phase of the micelle. Variation of the rate constant with the change of the CTAB concentration was used for the calculation of several kinetic parameters such as the binding constants (K
B and K
Nin) and the micellar rate constant k
m. On basis of the experimental results, a probable mechanism is proposed.

Abstract
The joint toxicity of chemicals mixture in the aquatic environment was still not well clear. To clarify the joint toxicity of the mixtures of metals and organic pollutants, as well as the influence of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in field water-body on their toxic effects, we conducted the toxicity tests with cadmium (Cd) and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) on Scenedesmus obliquus (S. obliquus) with or without the presence of fulvic acid (FA), a typical of DOM. Our results showed Cd was more toxic to S. obliquus than SDBS, and the effects of fulvic acid on SDBS were greater than Cd. The joint toxicity of Cd and SDBS expressed a synergistic effect on S. obliquus, which was observed to be increased with the presence of FA. Our results gave an example for the joint toxicity investigations of organics and metals, aiding to understanding the toxicity of pollutant mixtures in field water bodies containing DOM.
