Abstract
To better understand the molecular interactions between cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) and bovine serum albumin (BSA), we report the alteration of the physicochemical characteristics of CTAC in aqueous BSA solutions in the presence of different alcohols. The analyses were performed using the conductivity method at temperatures ranging from 298.15 to 323.15 K, with 5 K intervals. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) values of the BSA + CTAC systems were found to change with variations in alcohol types, solvent compositions, and temperatures. The CMC values grew with the rising of alcohol contents. The negative free energy changes (∆Gm0) indicated the spontaneous association of the systems in all solvents media. The magnitudes of ∆Hm0 and ∆Sm0, determined from the micellization of the systems, indicated the presence of electrostatic, ion-dipole, and hydrophobic forces. The thermodynamics of transfer (free energy (∆Gm,tr0), enthalpy (∆Hm,tr0), entropy (∆Sm,tr0)), and compensation parameters (∆Hm0,∗ and Tc)-were also calculated, which provided significant insights into the potential interactions between CTAC and BSA in the presence of various alcohol additives. Furthermore, molecular docking studies suggested the binding of CTAC to different BSA binding sites with varying affinities.

Abstract
In this study, three Gemini cationic surfactants related to thiazol-2-amine with three hydrocarbon chain lengths including 3-hexylthiazol-3-ium (TAC6), 3-dodecylthiazol-3-ium (TAC12) and octadecylthiazol3-ium (TAC18) were prepared. Surfactant structures were confirmed with IR and 1HNMR Spectroscopies. Critical micelle concentrations for all surfactants in 15% DMSO-Water solvent were measured using conductometric, refractometric, and densitometric techniques. Thermodynamics parameters were computed and explained. Also, enhancing properties of all surfactants were indicated under the effect of two concentrations, 0.001 M and 0.01 M, of six inorganic salts including Cl-, Br-, I-, Co+2, Cu+2, and Mn+2 radicals using conductivity and refractive index measurements. All techniques used to measure critical micelles concentration showed a good convergence in measuring CMC values and the behavior of all surfactants in 15% DMSO-water solvent. Increasing the binding constant of the counter ion and association constant reflects the effect of hydrocarbon chain length increment on enhancing micelle formation, where TAC 18 was shown as the lowest CMC in all applied measurements. Modeling the density of all surfactant solutions under study indicates an increase in hydrophobic polarizability with an increase in the molecular weight of the surfactant. Inorganic salts decreased the CMC of all surfactants with the increase in Gibbs free energy of micellization which ensures easier formation of more stable micelles in the presence of a salt solution. The effect of salts on decreasing CMC for all surfactants under study was arranged in the following order: Mn+2 < Cu+2 < Co+2 for cationic radicals and I- < Br- < Cl- for anionic radicals.

Abstract
Studying the adsorption behavior of cationic surfactants can help to develop more effective strategies to limit their dispersion in the environment. However, there have few studies on the adsorption of cationic surfactants from the perspective of critical micelle concentration (CMC). In this study, with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and octadecyl trimethylammonium bromide (OTAB) serving as the model cationic surfactants, the effect of CMC on the adsorption behavior of cationic surfactant onto the surface of sodium alginate/silica (SA/SiO2) microspheres was systematically revealed. The adsorption mechanism relative to CMC was investigated under different conditions, including surfactant concentration, pH, temperature, and adsorption time. The results suggest that at identical concentrations, the smaller the CMC value of the cationic surfactants, the greater the adsorption amount (qt). qt for CTAB and OTAB were 583.2 and 678.0 mg/g respectively, with the concentration higher than their CMC value. When the concentration was lower than the CMC value of the cationic surfactants, qt for CTAB and OTAB were 123.2 and 138.7 mg/g, respectively. The CMC value of CTAB was lower than that of OTAB under identical conditions, suggesting that the adsorption of cationic surfactants is related to their CMC. These results are beneficial for the removal of cationic surfactants by adsorption methods.

Abstract
The addition of a surfactant and/or an increase in temperature disrupt the native structure of proteins, where high temperature further results in protein gelation. However, in a mixed protein-surfactant system, surfactant concentration and temperature have been observed to exhibit both mutually associative and counter-balancing effects towards heat-induced gelation of protein-surfactant dispersion. This study is conducted on globular bovine serum albumin (BSA) protein and cationic surfactant dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB), which interact strongly owing to their oppositely charged nature. The findings reveal that the BSA-DTAB suspension undergoes gelation with increasing temperature but only at lower concentrations of DTAB, where the presence of the surfactant facilitates gelation (associative effect). Conversely, as the surfactant concentration increases beyond a critical value, temperature-driven gelation of the BSA-DTAB system is completely inhibited, despite surfactant-induced protein denaturation (counter-balancing effect). To conceptualize these results, we compared them with observations made in a system comprising protein and a similarly charged surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). It has been further demonstrated that the anionic surfactant (SDS) can restrict protein gelation at much lower concentration compared to the cationic surfactant (DTAB). The evolution of the structure and interaction during gel formation/inhibition has been examined to understand the underlying mechanism guiding these sol-gel transitions. We present a comprehensive phase diagram, encompassing the solution/gel states of the protein-surfactant dispersion, with respect to the dispersion temperature, surfactant concentration, and ionic behavior (anionic or cationic) of the surfactants.

Abstract
In the current study, the association and phase separation of cationic tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide (TTAB) and nonionic Triton X-100 (TX-100) surfactants with promethazine hydrochloride (PMH) were investigated in aqueous ammonium-based solutions. The micellization nature of the TTAB and PMH drug mixture was examined by evaluating critical micelle concentration (CMC) and counterion binding extent (β) at different salt contents and temperatures (298.15-323.15 K). Micelle formation in the TTAB + PMH mixture was enhanced in the presence of ammonium salts, whereas the process was delayed with an increase in temperature in the respective salt solution. With an increase in salt content, the cloud point (CP) of the TX-100 + PMH mixture decreased, which revealed that the respective progression occurred through the salting out phenomenon. In micellization and clouding processes, the changes in free energies ΔG0m and ΔG0c were found to be negative and positive, respectively, demonstrating that the corresponding processes are spontaneous and non-spontaneous. Standard enthalpies (ΔH0m/ΔH0c) and standard entropies (ΔS0m/ΔS0c) for the association and clouding processes, respectively, were also calculated and discussed. The core forces amid TTAB/TX-100 and PMH in the manifestation of electrolytes are dipole-dipole and hydrophobic forces among the employed components according to the values for ΔH0m/ΔH0c and ΔS0m/ΔS0c, respectively.

Abstract
Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme used in the treatment of digestive disorders. In this study, we investigated the physicochemical properties of the tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide (TTAB) and pepsin protein mixture in various sodium salt media within a temperature range of 300.55-320.55 K with 5 K intervals. The conductometric study of the TTAB+pepsin mixture revealed a reduction in the critical micelle concentration (CMC) in electrolyte media. The micellization of TTAB was delayed in the presence of pepsin. The CMC of the TTAB + pepsin mixture was found to depend on the concentrations of electrolytes and protein, as well as the temperature variations. The aggregation of the TTAB+pepsin mixture was hindered as a function of [pepsin] and increasing temperatures, while micellization was promoted in aqueous electrolyte solutions. The negative free energy changes (∆Gm0) indicated the spontaneous aggregation of the TTAB+pepsin mixture. Changes in enthalpy, entropy, molar heat capacities, transfer properties, and enthalpy-entropy compensation variables were calculated and illustrated rationally. The interaction forces between TTAB and pepsin protein in the experimental solvents were primarily hydrophobic and electrostatic (ion-dipole) in nature. An analysis of molecular docking revealed hydrophobic interactions as the main stabilizing forces in the TTAB-pepsin complex.

Abstract
We investigate the solution structures of model sodium dodecyl sulfate/octanol/brine ternary mixtures across the lamellar (Lα), vesicle (L4) and micellar (L1) phases employing small angle neutron scattering (SANS), optical microscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Specifically, we examine the effect of co-surfactant octanol (0.2-9.48 w/v%) and temperature (25-65 °C) along dilution lines at fixed octanol : SDS ratios (0.08-1.21). A transition from Lα to sponge phase (L3) above 35 °C is found along the octanol : SDS = 1.21 isopleth, with phase coexistence above ϕ ≈ 0.14 weight fraction of surfactant and co-surfactant. The lamellar bilayers swell upon dilution, with an approximately linear increase of d-spacing, accompanied by a decrease of the Caillé parameter, indicative of greater membrane rigidity. At a lower octanol : SDS ratio of 0.62, coexistence of oblate micelles and vesicles is observed with preferential formation of vesicles at low concentrations. Dilution of the L1 phase, along octanol : SDS = 0.08, results in elongated micelles, as the NaCl : SDS ratio increases, while higher temperatures favour the formation of less elongated micelles. Our results provide a detailed map of the equilibrium structures found in the Lα vicinity of this extensively investigated flow-responsive surfactant system.

Abstract
Interactions between bovine serum albumin (BSA) and cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) were studied utilizing conductivity approach. The critical micelle concentration (CMC), micelle ionization (α) along with counter ion binding (β) of CTAC micellization in aqueous solutions of BSA/BSA + hydrotropes (HYTs) have been computed at 298.15-323.15 K. Increase in temperatures of CTAC + BSA/BSA mixtures in HYTs resulted in elevation of CMC due to the association of chemical species in the respective systems which reduced the degree of micelle formation. CTAC + BSA consumed greater extents of surfactant species to generate micelle formation in the corresponding systems at higher temperatures. Standard free energy change associated with the assembling processes of CTAC in BSA was found negative suggesting the spontaneous nature of micellization processes. Magnitudes of ∆Hm0 and ∆Sm0 obtained from CTAC + BSA aggregation revealed the existence of H-bonding, electrostatic interactions along with hydrophobic forces among the constituents employed in the respective systems. ∆Gm0 The estimated thermodynamic parameters of transfer (free energy (∆Gm,tr0), enthalpy (∆Hm,tr0) and entropy (∆Sm,tr0)) and compensation variables (∆Hm0,∗ and Tc) provided significant insights on the association behaviors of the CTAC + BSA system in the selected HYTs solutions.

Abstract
The investigation of the micellization of a mixture of cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB) and levofloxacin hemihydrate (LFH) was carried out by a conductivity technique in aqueous and aq. additive mixtures, including NaCl, NaOAc, NaBenz, 4-ABA, and urea. The aggregation behavior of the CPB + LFH mixture was studied considering the variation in additive contents and the change in experimental temperature. The micelle formation of the CPB + LFH mixture was examined from the breakpoint observed in the specific conductivity versus surfactant concentration plots. Different micellar characteristics, such as the critical micelle concentration (CMC) and the extent of counter ion bound (β), were evaluated for the CPB + LFH mixture. The CMC and β were found to undergo a change with the types of solvents, composition of solvents, and working temperatures. The ΔG0m values of the CPB + LFH system in aqueous and aq. additive solutions were found to be negative, which denotes a spontaneous aggregation phenomenon of the CPB + LFH system. The changes in ΔH0m and ΔS0m for the CPB + LFH mixture were also detected with the alteration in the solvent nature and solution temperature. The ΔH0m and ΔS0m values obtained for the association of the CPB + LFH mixture reveal that the characteristic interaction forces may possibly be ion-dipole, dipole-dipole, and hydrophobic between CPB and LFH. The thermodynamics of transfer and ΔH0m-ΔS0m compensation variables were also determined. All the parameters computed in the present investigation are illustrated with proper logic.

Abstract
Herein, interactions between cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and ceftriaxone sodium (CTS) were investigated applying conductivity technique. Impacts of the nature of additives (e.g. electrolytes or hydrotrope (HDT)), change of temperatures (from 298.15 to 323.15 K), and concentration variation of CTS/additives were assessed on the micellization of CPC + CTS mixture. The conductometric analysis of critical micelle concentration (CMC) with respect to the concentration reveals that the CMC values were increased with the increase in CTS concentration. In terms of using different mediums, CMC did not differ much with the increase in electrolyte salt (NaCl, Na2SO4) concentration, but increased significantly with the rise of HDT (NaBenz) amount. In the presence of electrolyte, CMC showed a gentle increment with temperature, while the HDT showed the opposite trend. Obtained result was further correlated with conventional thermodynamic relationship, where standard Gibb's free energy change ( Δ G m o ) , change of enthalpy ( Δ H m o ) , and change of entropy ( Δ S m o ) were utilized to investigate. The Δ G m o values were negative for all the mixed systems studied indicating that the micellization process was spontaneous. Finally, the stability of micellization was studied by estimating the intrinsic enthalpy gain (Δ H m o , ∗ ) and compensation temperature (Tc). Here, CPC + CTS mixed system showed more stability in Na2SO4 medium than the NaCl, while in NaBenz exhibited the lowest stability.

Abstract
The polymer-surfactant mixture has usages in numerous industries mainly in the production of daily used materials. Herein, the micellization and phase separation nature of the sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and TX-100 along with a synthetic water-soluble polymer-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) have been conducted using conductivity and cloud point (CP) measurement tools. In the case of micellization study of SDS + PVA mixture by conductivity method, the CMC values were obtained to be dependent on the categories and extent of additives as well as temperature variation. Both categories of studies were performed in aq. solutions of sodium chloride (NaCl), sodium acetate (NaOAc), and sodium benzoate (NaBenz) media. The CP values of TX 100 + PVA were decreased and enhanced in simple electrolytes and sodium benzoate media respectively. In all cases, the free energy changes of micellization (∆Gm0) and clouding (∆Gc0) were obtained as negative and positive respectively. The enthalpy (∆Hm0) and entropy (∆Sm0) changes for SDS + PVA system micellization was negative and positive respectively in aq. NaCl and NaBenz media, and in aq. NaOAc medium the ∆Hm0 values were found negative while ∆Sm0 were found negative except at the highest studied temperature (323.15 K). The enthalpy-entropy compensation of both processes was also assessed and described clearly.

Abstract
Herein, we have investigated the association behavior of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) using the conductivity method in H2O and H2O + organic mixed solvents at different temperatures. The association phenomenon was detected from the deviation of the conductivity changes with enhancing the surfactant concentration and changes of numerous physico-chemical properties, such as CMC, α, β and thermodynamic variables (∆G0m, ∆H0m and ∆S0m). The values of CMC for the CTAB + BSA system in 10 % (v/v) solvents follow the trend: CMCwater < CMCwater+DMSO < CMCwater+AN < CMCwater+DX < CMCwater+DMF. The interaction of BSA with CTAB is notably influenced due to a change of temperature and extent of hydration of BSA and surfactant. The obtained values of -∆G0m manifest that the association of BSA and CTAB mixture is a spontaneous process, while the values of -∆G0m in presence of 10 % (v/v) aq. organic solvents come out in the given sequence: -∆Gmo (H2O + DMSO) > ∆Gmo (H2O + DMF) > -∆Gmo (H2O + DX) > -∆Gmo (H2O + AN). The H-bonding, ion-dipole, along with the hydrophobic interactions, are believed to be the binding interactions between BSA and CTAB in the study media.

Abstract
In the present study, the conductometric and dye-solubilization techniques have been utilized to investigate the interaction between an anionic dye (acid yellow 23 [AY]) and a cationic surfactant (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide [CTAB]) in presence of organic (ethanol)/inorganic (NaCl) additives. From the conductometric method, two critical micelle concentrations (cmc) were found for AY + CTAB mixture in an aqueous system and the cmc values were found to undergo a change with the variation of AY concentrations. The cmc values of AY + CTAB systems were observed higher in the alcoholic medium, while the same was found to be lower in the NaCl solutions. The change in cmc of AY + CTAB systems shows an U-like curve with an increase of temperature. The negative free energy of micellization (

Abstract
Interaction of sodium carboxymethylcellulose (SCMC) with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB; cationic in nature) in H2O and additives (alcohols and diols) media has been investigated using conductivity technique. The micellar parameters such as critical micelle concentration (cmc), fraction of counter ion binding (β), thermodynamic parameters, transfer properties, and enthalpy-entropy compensation parameters of CTAB + SCMC mixture have been assessed in water and aq. alcohols/diols media. One cmc value was achieved for CTAB + SCMC mixtures in the entire circumstances and the attendance of SCMC disfavors the CTAB micellization. The cmc values were obtained to be greater in alcohols and diols media compared to H2O medium. The cmc values also exhibit a dependency on the solvent composition and temperature variation. In all the cases, the ΔG

values were achieved to be negative which signifying the spontaneous formation of micelles while the extent of spontaneity is decreased in alcohols and diols media. Both the ΔH

reveal that hydrophobic, ion-dipole as well as electrostatic interactions are the proposed binding forces between CTAB and SCMC. The compensation parameters (ΔH

) are in decent agreement with the biological fluid.

Abstract
Aggregation studies of anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) was investigated in aqueous 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride [bmim]Cl and N-butyl-N-methyl pyrrolidinium tetrafluoroborate [bmp]BF4 ionic liquid (IL) solutions respectively. Systems were studied by surface tension, conductance, UV-VIS absorption/emission spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering. Critical micelle concentration (CMC) values gradually decreased with increasing IL concentration which indicates synergistic interaction between ILs and SDS. Gibbs free energy change results demonstrated spontaneous micellization induced by ILs; however the effect of ILs were not similar to the corresponding regular salts (NaCl and NaBF4). Aggregation number (n) of micelles, determined by fluorescence quenching method, indicate that the 'n' values increase with increasing ILs concentration, induced by the oppositely charged IL cation. Size of the micelles, determined by dynamic light scattering studies, increased with increasing ILs concentration, which were due to the formation of larger aggregates; the aggregates are considered to be comprised of the anionic surfactant with a substantial proportion of ILs cation as the bound counter ions. Such studies are considered to shed further light in the fundamentals of IL induced micellization as well as in different practical applications.
