Abstract
Insights into the relationship between the crystal structure and activity of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are meaningful to investigate the potential properties of pristine MOFs for targeted catalytic reactions. Herein, we develop a high-efficiency method for boosting the oxidative desulfurization (ODS) activity of Ti-MOF in the presence of H+. The ODS activity of pristine Ti-MOF prepared via a solvothermal approach is very poor at a low reaction temperature but can be enhanced in the presence of H+. Ti-MOF in the presence of H+ shows ultrahigh ODS activity that can eliminate 1000 ppm sulfur after 7 min at 30 °C with no catalytic activity loss after recycling 11 times. The turnover frequency value reaches 12.4 h-1 at 30 °C, surpassing all the previously reported Ti-MOFs as ODS catalysts even at high temperatures. Characterization and quenching experimental results indicate that more uncoordinated Ti sites can be formed from slight damage to the structure of Ti-MOF during the catalytic reaction, and such exposed Ti sites can easily react with H+ and H2O2 to form Ti-hydroperoxo active species that determine the upgradation of ODS activity. This work provides a significant way to upgrade the catalytic activity of pristine Ti-MOFs for future application.

Abstract
Commercial metathesis polynorbornene is used for the fabrication of high-damping coatings and bulk materials that dissipate vibration and impact energies. Functionalization of this non-polar polymer can improve its adhesive, gas barrier, and other properties, thereby potentially expanding its application area. With this aim, the post-modification of polynorbornene was carried out by inserting ethylene–vinyl acetate–vinyl alcohol blocks into its backbone via the cross-metathesis of polynorbornene with poly(5-acetoxy-1-octenylene) and subsequent deacetylation and hydrogenation of the obtained multiblock copolymers. For the first time, epoxy groups were introduced into the main chains of these copolymers, followed by the oxirane ring opening reaction. The influence of post-modification on the thermal, gas separation, and mechanical properties of the new copolymers was studied. It was shown that the gas permeability of the copolymer significantly depends on its composition, as well as on the amounts of hydroxyl and epoxy groups. The developed methods efficiently improve the barrier properties, reducing the oxygen permeability by 15–33 times in comparison with polynorbornene. The obtained results are promising for various applications and can be extended to a broader family of polydienes and other polymers containing backbone double bonds.

Abstract
Aquatic contamination by per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) has attracted global attention due to their environmental and health concerns. Current health advisories and surface water regulatory limits require PFAS detection in the parts per trillion (ppt) range. One way to achieve those low detection limits is to use a reliable passive sampling-based monitoring tool for PFAS, as exists for numerous nonpolar persistent organic pollutants. Here we introduce a new graphene-based hydrogel monolith and describe its synthesis, chemical functionalization, property characterization, and testing as a PFAS equilibrium passive sampler. The graphene monoliths were self-assembled by hydrothermal treatment from graphene oxide (GO) aqueous dispersions to produce free standing cylinders of ~563 mm3 volume consisting of ~4 wt-% thin-walled porous graphene and ~96 wt-% water. The uptake of 23 PFAS was measured on the as-produced monoliths, and equilibrium partition coefficients (KSW), were derived for longer chain (C≥8) perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAA) and neutral precursors such as sulfonamides (log KSW range 1.9 - 3.6). To increase the KSW for shorter chain PFAA, the monoliths were chemically modified by a new diazonium-based grafting reaction that introduces positive surface charge without damage to the graphenic backbone. Introduction of benzylamine moieties through the diazonium intermediate switches zeta potential at pH 7 from -45mV (as-produced graphene) to + 5mV. This modification increased the sorption of short and middle chain PFAA by ten-fold (e.g. log KSW for PFBA increased from 1.3 to 2.2), thereby improving the functionality of the passive sampler device for a wider range of PFAS. Field deployments demonstrated that the graphene monoliths were capable of detecting key PFAS in the Delaware River.

Abstract
Biological membranes, in addition to being a cell boundary, can host a variety of proteins that are involved in different biological functions, including selective nutrient transport, signal transduction, inter- and intra-cellular communication, and cell-cell recognition. Due to their extreme complexity, there has been an increasing interest in developing model membrane systems of controlled properties based on combinations of polymers and different biomacromolecules, i.e., polymer-based hybrid films. In this review, we have highlighted recent advances in the development and applications of hybrid biomimetic planar systems based on different polymeric species. We have focused in particular on hybrid films based on (i) polyelectrolytes, (ii) polymer brushes, as well as (iii) tethers and cushions formed from synthetic polymers, and (iv) block copolymers and their combinations with biomacromolecules, such as lipids, proteins, enzymes, biopolymers, and chosen nanoparticles. In this respect, multiple approaches to the synthesis, characterization, and processing of such hybrid films have been presented. The review has further exemplified their bioengineering, biomedical, and environmental applications, in dependence on the composition and properties of the respective hybrids. We believed that this comprehensive review would be of interest to both the specialists in the field of biomimicry as well as persons entering the field.

Abstract
In this research work, a biosensor with a dual recognition system was fabricated and founded on a combination of aptasensing and the molecular imprinting union of the chloramphenicol (CAP) selective detection. CAP, is an antibiotic, was applied in veterinary and human in order to treat gram-positive and gram-negative infections. It is worth mentioning that CAP residue brings about earnest side effects on human health. According to this, in this sensing system, 3-aminomethyl pyridine functionalized graphene oxide (GO) (3-ampy-RGO) has been coated on the surface of GCE. Afterwards, the silver nanoparticle (AgNPs) was coated on the 3-ampy-RGO/GCE and, then, the CAP complex-amino-aptamer (NH2-Apt[CAP]) was attached to the AgNP/3-ampy-RGO/GCE using a kind of bonding formation of Ag-N. In this sense, it is worth noting that the resorcinol electropolymerization around the complex of aptamer/CAP would confine the complex and, then, retain the aptamer. Following the CAP removal, the MIP cavity, as it was supposed, synergistically acted with that of the embedded aptamer in order to construct a nanohybrid receptor. Interestingly, the double exact property of the molecular imprinting polymers and aptamers led to the superb sensing properties. In the mentioned system it was illustrated that the linear range was from 1.0 pM to 1.0 nM with the detection limit of 0.3 pM; consequently, as observed, it was better than or as good as other similar assays. Moreover, the mentioned system whose activity was observed in the various interferences presence showed great selectivity in detected the CAP. Finally, the designed sensor exhibited outstanding results when applied to detect CAP in milk samples.

Abstract
The nickel(II) catalyst has manifested higher catalytic activity compared to that of other late transition metal catalysts for norbornene polymerization. Therefore, several structurally similar trans-nickel(II) compounds of N,O-chelate bidentate ligands were synthesized and characterized. Both the electronic effect and the steric hindrance influence polymerization. The molecular structures of 2, 4 and 5 were further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
