Abstract
Background Free radicals are involved in the process of carcinogenesis. Conventional antioxidants and anti-inflammatory drugs have the disadvantages of side effects and high costs. Banana peel contains phenolic and non-phenolic antioxidants that are pivotal in removing inflammatory components by inhibiting reactive oxygen species (ROS), protecting protease inhibitors from oxidative damage, and preventing fibroblast degradation which protects the body against the ill effects of free radicals. Aim and objectives The present study aimed to evaluate the potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of peel extracts of the Musa acuminata Red Dacca(red banana) and Musa acuminata Colla (rasthali). Materials and methods The procured unripe peels of red bananas and rasthali bananas were dried, ground into powder, and used to create aqueous and alcoholic extracts. The aqueous extract was made by dissolving 5 grams of peel powder in 25 ml of distilled water, while the alcoholic extract was prepared by heating ethanol to 100°C for 30 minutes. The extracts were combined, shaken for 24 hours, filtered, and stored at 4°C. Following extract preparation, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) assay, bovine serum albumin (BSA) denaturation assay, and egg albumin (EA) denaturation assay were performed to evaluate the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The assays were performed in varying concentrations for the prepared extracts of red banana and rasthali and the 1:1 ratio combination extract of both varieties. The obtained data were tabulated and statistically tested using the IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 22.0 (Released 2013; IBM Corp., Armonk, New York, United States) by the Kruskal-Wallis test with the statistical significance set at p≤0.05. Results Results highlighted variations in the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of the banana peel extracts and the standard used in all the assays, but there was no statistically significant difference between the extracts and the standard (p>0.05). There was an increase in the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity with an increase in the concentration of both the extracts and the standard. The 1:1 ratio combination extract showed the highest antioxidant property among the banana extracts in the majority of the concentrations in the DPPH assay, whereas the rasthali extract showed the same even more than the standard in the H2O2 assay. The rasthali extract showed the highest anti-inflammatory property in all the concentrations in the BSA assay, and the 1:1 ratio combination extract showed the same in the EA assay. Conclusion The banana peel extracts showed comparable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties with that of the standard in all the assays with no statistically significant difference. There was a rising trend in the properties with an increase in their concentration. Red banana and rasthali peel extracts, either individually or in combination, could be a promising, effective, and cost-effective alternative or adjunct to the currently available antioxidant medications.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Lifestyle and diet play a significant role in hyperuricaemia. Accumulating evidence indicates that tea consumption is associated with hyperuricaemia and gout. However, diverse compounds in different types of tea make it quite difficult to determine the relevant molecular mechanism. Here, we compared the effects of six types of tea on hyperuricaemia induced by potassium oxonate (PO) and hypoxanthine in rats and investigated the possible underlying mechanisms.
Methods
Rats were randomly assigned to ten groups: the control, hyperuricaemia model, benzbromarone positive control, traditional Chinese medicine Simiao San positive control, green tea, yellow tea, black tea, white tea, red tea, and cyan tea treatment groups. After 21 days, uric acid (UA), xanthine oxidase (XOD), alanine aminotransferase (ALT),blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and creatinine (CRE) were assessed. Serum levels of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) were measured with an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Haematoxylin–eosin staining and immunohistochemistry were used to assess liver and kidney injury.
Results
The levels of UA, CRE, and BUN in the treatment group were decreased to varying degrees. There was a significant reduction in UA, CRE, and BUN levels for yellow tea compared to the positive control drugs. Yellow tea suppressed XOD activity and alleviated hepatic and kidney injury. Network pharmacology and untargeted metabolomics indicated that ten yellow tea bioactive ingredients and 35 targets were responsible for preventing hyperuricaemia, which was mediated by 94 signalling pathways, including IL-1β and TNF.
Conclusion
These findings indicate that green tea cannot reduce the serum uric acid level of hyperuricaemic rats. Yellow tea can significantly improve hyperuricaemia by regulating the inflammatory response, autophagy, and apoptosis. This study provides a potential candidate for the treatment of hyperuricaemia and a basis for selecting therapeutic tea for patients with hyperuricaemia.

Abstract
Acne vulgaris (AV) is a chronic skin disease of the pilosebaceous unit affecting both adolescents and adults. Its pathophysiology includes processes of inflammation, increased keratinization, sebum production, hormonal dysregulation, and bacterial Cutibacterium acnes proliferation. Common AV has been treated with antibiotics since the 1960s, but strain resistance has emerged and is of paramount concern. Macroalgae are known producers of substances with bioactive properties, including anti-viral, antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, among several others. In particular, red algae are rich in bioactive compounds such as polysaccharides, phenolic compounds, lipids, sterols, alkaloids, and terpenoids, conferring them antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory activities, among others. Thus, the exploration of compounds from marine resources can be an appealing approach to discover new treatment options against AV. The aim of this work is to provide an overview of the current knowledge of the potentialities of red macroalgae in the treatment of AV by reviewing the main therapeutic targets of this disease, and then the existence of compounds or extracts with bioactive properties against them.

Abstract
Background Acne vulgaris is the most common skin disease that can lead to disfigurement and psychological distress. This article aims to provide a narrative updated review on the management of acne vulgaris. Methods A PubMed search was performed with Clinical Queries using the key term “acne”. The search strategy included clinical trials, meta-analyses, randomized controlled trials, observational studies and reviews. The search was restricted to articles published in English. Results Treatments of acne include proper skin care, topical medications, oral medications and procedural therapies. Topical agents are the first-line treatment for mild-to-moderate acne and can be used as combination therapy for more severe acne. Systemic therapies are usually prescribed for the initial treatment of moderate-to-severe acne as well as for acne that is refractory to topical therapies. Conclusion Topical retinoids are the drugs of choice for the treatment and maintenance therapy of patients with mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris. Depending on the severity of the acne, topical retinoids may be used alone or in combination with benzoyl peroxide and topical or oral antibiotics. Oral antibiotics are an important therapy for inflammatory acne unresponsive to topical therapy. Neither topical nor oral antibiotics should be used as monotherapy. Oral contraceptives and/or spironolactone are useful for many women with acne. Oral isotretinoin is the drug of choice for severe, extensive, nodular acne vulgaris but is also often used in moderate cases where scarring is evident, acne-related psychosocial distress is significant or other treatment modalities have failed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) has been proven effective in treating viral warts. Since anticarcinogenic as well as anti-inflammatory properties are ascribed to the substance, its use has been evaluated in the context of different dermatoses. The effect of EGCG on interface dermatitis (ID), however, has not yet been explored. OBJECTIVES In this study, we investigated the effect of EGCG on an epidermal human in vitro model of ID. METHODS Via immunohistochemistry, lesional skin of lichen planus patients and healthy skin were analysed concerning the intensity of interferon-associated mediators, CXCL10 and MxA. Epidermal equivalents were stained analogously upon ID-like stimulation and EGCG treatment. Monolayer keratinocytes were treated likewise and supernatants were analysed via ELISA while cells were processed for vitality assay or transcriptomic analysis. RESULTS CXCL10 and MxA are strongly expressed in lichen planus lesions and induced in keratinocytes upon ID-like stimulation. EGCG reduces CXCL10 and MxA staining intensity in epidermis equivalents and CXCL10 secretion by keratinocytes upon stimulation. It furthermore minimizes the cytotoxic effect of the stimulus and downregulates a magnitude of typical pro-inflammatory cytokines that are crucial for the perpetuation of ID. CONCLUSIONS We provide evidence concerning anti-inflammatory effects of EGCG within a human in vitro model of ID. The capacity to suppress mediators that are centrally involved in disease perpetuation suggests EGCG as a potential topical therapeutic in lichen planus and other autoimmune skin diseases associated with ID.

Abstract
Oxidative stress plays an important pathogenetic role in many chronic inflammatory diseases, including those of dermatological interest. In particular, regarding psoriasis, vitiligo, and lichen planus, excess reactive oxygen species and a decline in endogenous antioxidant systems are observed. In this regard, treatments with antioxidant properties could be appropriate therapeutic options. To date, clinical trials in dermatology on these treatments are limited. We reviewed the available studies on the efficacy of antioxidant therapies in psoriasis, vitiligo, and lichen planus. The role of herbal derivatives, vitamins, and trace elements was analyzed. The antioxidant properties of conventional therapies were also evaluated. Data from the literature suggest that antioxidants might be useful, but available studies on this topic are limited, heterogeneous, not completely standardized, and on small populations. Furthermore, in most cases, antioxidants alone are unable to induce significant clinical changes, except perhaps in mild forms, and must be used in conjunction with standard drug treatments to achieve measurable results. Further studies need to be conducted, considering larger populations and using internationally validated scales, in order to compare the results and clinical efficacy.

Abstract
Tea is one of the most consumed beverages around the world and as such, it is constantly the object of novel research. This review focuses on the research performed during the last five years to provide an updated view of the current position of tea regarding human health. According to most authors, tea health benefits can be traced back to its bioactive components, mostly phenolic compounds. Among them, catechins are the most abundant. Tea has an important antioxidant capacity and anti-inflammatory properties, which make this beverage (or its extracts) a potential aid in the fight against several chronic diseases. On the other hand, some studies report the possibility of toxic effects and it is advisable to reduce tea consumption, such as in the last trimester of pregnancy. Additionally, new technologies are increasing researchers' possibilities to study the effect of tea on human gut microbiota and even against SARS CoV-2. This beverage favours some beneficial gut microbes, which could have important repercussions due to the influence of gut microbiota on human health.
