Current Analytical Methods for the Sensitive Assay of New-Generation Ovarian Cancer Drugs in Pharmaceutical and Biological Samples

Ovarian cancer, which affects the female reproductive organs, is one of the most common types of cancer. Since this type of cancer has a high mortality rate from gynaecological cancers, the scientific community shows great interest in studies on its treatment. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical treatment methods are used in its treatment. In the absence of targeted treatments in these treatment methods, side effects occur in patients, and patients show resistance to the drug. In addition, the underlying causes of ovarian cancer are still not fully known. The scientific world thinks that genetic factors, environmental conditions, and consumed foods may cause this cancer. The most important factor in the treatment of ovarian cancer is early diagnosis. Therefore, the drugs used in the treatment of ovarian cancer are platinum-based anticancer drugs. In addition to these drugs, the most preferred treatment method recently is targeted treatment approaches using poly(adenosine diphosphate ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors. In this review, studies on the sensitive analysis of the treatment methods of these new-generation drugs used in the treatment of ovarian cancer have been comprehensively examined. In addition, the basic features, structural aspects, and biological data of analytical methods used in treatments with new-generation drugs are explained. Analytical studies carried out in the literature in recent years aim to show future developments in how these new-generation drugs are used today and to guide future studies by comprehensively examining and explaining the structure-activity relationship, mechanism of action, toxicity, and pharmacokinetic studies. Finally, in this study, the methods used in the analysis of drugs used in the treatment of ovarian cancer and the studies conducted between 2015 and 2023 were discussed in detail.

Enhanced Supercapacitor Performance and Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Effectiveness of CuS Quantum Dots Grown on Reduced Graphene Oxide Sheets

This study is focused on the preparation of the CuS/RGO nanocomposite via the hydrothermal method using GO and Cu-DTO complex as precursors. X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study revealed the formation of the CuS/RGO nanocomposite with improved crystallinity, defective nanostructure, and the presence of the residual functional group in the RGO sheet. The morphological study displayed the transformation of CuS from nanowire to quantum dots with the incorporation of RGO. The galvanostatic charge/discharge curve showed that the CuS/RGO nanocomposite (12 wt % Cu-DTO complex) has tremendous and outperforming specific capacitance of 3058 F g-1 at 1 A g-1 current density with moderate cycling stability (∼60.3% after 1000 cycles at 10 A g-1). The as-prepared nanocomposite revealed excellent improvement in specific capacitance, cycling stability, Warburg impedance, and interfacial charge transfer resistance compared to neat CuS. The fabricated nanocomposites were also investigated for their bulk DC electrical conductivity and EMI shielding ability. It was observed that the CuS/RGO nanocomposite (9 wt % Cu-DTO) exhibited a total electromagnetic shielding efficiency of 64 dB at 2.3 GHz following absorption as a dominant shielding mechanism. Such a performance is ascribed to the presence of interconnected networks and synergistic effects.

Two-Step and Green Synthesis of Highly Fluorescent Carbon Quantum Dots and Carbon Nanofibers from Pine Fruit

To green synthesis of highly yield photoluminescence carbon nanofibers/carbon quantum dots by pine fruit the ball milling assisted hydrothermal method was served. Different analysis such as XRD, EDS, elemental mapping and FT-IR analysis were used to study the product structure. The optical properties of the synthesized carbon nanomaterials were investigated by UV-Vis and PL analysis. Also, the effects of hydrothermal time and temperature on the PL intensity were studied. To study the product size and morphology SEM and TEM analysis were served. Also, the nucleation and growth mechanism was studied by TEM images. The results showed the product is composed of very tiny nitrogen-doped carbon dots and carbon nanofibers with high photoluminescence intensity. The photocatalytic activity of the product was investigated by degradation of six dyes namely Acid blue, Eosin Y, Erichrome Black T, Methylene blue, Methyl orange and Methyl. The results showed the product has high photocatalytic activity and it can degrade the dyes with creation reactive oxide species in the aqueous solution. The surface activity of the product was also investigated and it was found it can adsorb Pb²⁺ and Cd²⁺ from the water with 100% efficiency. The results showed we can synthesis of useful carbon nanomaterials with high photoluminescence intensity, highly photocatalytic activity and surface adsorption via a simple and fast method with the pine fruit.
