Abstract
Metal-catalyzed hydroarylation reactions are always powerful tools in organic synthesis since they can form C-C or C-heteroatom bonds in an atom and step economic manner. Medicinally and biologically relevant scaffolds can be easily and efficiently synthesized using this strategy. By tuning the directing groups that are present on the arenes, regioselectivity can be induced to the C-H activation. Metals like cobalt, rhodium and ruthenium are well known as catalysts in this type of reaction. But due to their easy availability and efficiency, Ru catalysts are found to be more preferable for hydroarylation purposes. In this review, the Ru-catalyzed hydroarylation of alkenes and alkynes, intramolecular Ru-catalyzed hydroarylation of olefin tethered arenes, modifications in the catalytic system to improve the catalytic efficiency, and carboxylate-assisted Ru-catalyzed hydroarylation reactions are discussed in detail, covering literature from 2016 to 2022.

Abstract
A new Ru3(CO)12-catalyzed directed alkenylation of 2-carboxaldimine-heterocyclopentadienes has been accomplished. This process allows coupling of furan, pyrrole, indole, and thiophene 2-carboxaldimines with electron-poor alkenes such as acrylates, vinylsulfones, and styrenes. This regio- and chemoselective oxidative C-H coupling does not require the presence of an additional sacrificial oxidant. Density functional theory calculations allowed us to propose a mechanism and unveiled the nature of the H2 acceptor.

Abstract
A condition-based switchable regioselective hydroalkylation of 2-arylindoles with maleimides has been developed. The reaction in the presence of a Ru(ii)-catalyst resulted in hydroalkylation at the ortho-position of the C2-aryl ring via C-H activation whereas the reaction in the absence of the catalyst in TFE resulted in C3-hydroalkylation. Various functional groups both on the indole ring and on the 2-phenyl ring were tolerated and a wide range of hydroalkylated products were obtained in moderate to high (37-88%) yields.

Abstract
Herein, we disclose the Rh(III)-catalyzed selective C8-alkylation of quinoline N-oxides with maleimides and acrylates. The main features of the reaction include complete C8-selectivity and broad substrate scope with good to excellent yields. The reaction also proceeded well with unprotected maleimide. The applicability of the developed methodology is demonstrated with gram-scale synthesis and post-modification of the alkylated product. Preliminary mechanistic study revealed that the reaction proceeds through a five-membered rhodacycle and involves proto-demetalation step.
