Encapsulating Copper Nanocrystals into Metal-Organic Frameworks for Cascade Reactions by Photothermal Catalysis

A three-modal fluorescent sensor harnessing diverse luminescent mechanisms for the purpose of segmented Baijiu identification

The classification and verification of segmented Baijiu hold significant importance as they profoundly influence the blending and overall quality of the Baijiu. Our scholarly investigation yielded a fluorescent sensor with three luminescent modes by integrating Tb3+ and RHB into UiO-66. The interplay between carboxyl-containing compounds and RHB/Tb@TLU-2 orchestrates a harmonious molecular association, where the convergence of carboxyl groups with Tb3+ yields a resonating impact on the antenna effect of BDC-SO3-. Furthermore, the acidity and alkalinity of reactants induced a charge transfer interaction between BDC-NH2 and Zr4+ and led to structural changes in RHB/Tb@TLU-2, resulting in observable fluorescence signal variations across the three emission centers. The sensor array successfully identified eight organic acids, achieving an impressive 97.5 % accuracy in discerning segmented Baijiu samples from four Baijiu pits. This meticulous methodology prioritizes simplicity, swiftness, and effectiveness, paving the path for comprehensive segmented Baijiu analysis in the esteemed realm of Brewing production.

Colorimetric detection of Hg2+ based on the enhanced oxidase-mimic activity of CuO/Au@Cu3(BTC)2 triggered by Hg2

It is imperative to develop a rapid detection method for Hg2+ due to its harm to human health and the ecological environment. In this research, CuO/Au@Cu3(BTC)2 was synthesized through reducing HAuCl4 by CuxO@Cu3(BTC)2, which was obtained by reducing Cu3(BTC)2 with hydrazine hydrate. The oxidase-mimic activity of CuO/Au@Cu3(BTC)2 can be enhanced by Hg2+ through forming a Au-Hg alloy. Therefore, a colorimetric method was designed for Hg2+ detection with a linear relationship in the 0.05-25 μM range and a limit of detection of 9.7 nM. This strategy exhibited a strong selectivity to Hg2+ and was applied in a real water sample with reliable recoveries. This work provides a possibility for the rapid detection of Hg2+.

Photosynthetic System Based on a Polyoxometalate-Based Dehydrated Metal-Organic Framework for Nitrogen Fixation

In nature, biological nitrogen fixation is accomplished through the π-back-bonding mechanism of nitrogenase, which poses significant challenges for mimic artificial systems, thanks to the activation barrier associated with the N≡N bond. Consequently, this motivates us to develop efficient and reusable photocatalysts for artificial nitrogen fixation under mild conditions. We employ a charge-assisted self-assembly process toward encapsulating one polyoxometalate (POM) within a dehydrated Zr-based metal-organic framework (d-UiO-66) exhibiting nitrogen photofixation activities, thereby constructing an enzyme-mimicking photocatalyst. The dehydration of d-UiO-66 is favorable for facilitating nitrogen chemisorption and activation via the unpaired d-orbital electron at the [Zr6O6] cluster. The incorporation of POM guests enhanced the charge separation in the composites, thereby facilitating the transfer of photoexcited electrons into the π* antibonding orbital of chemisorbed N2 for efficient nitrogen fixation. Simultaneously, the catalytic efficiency of SiW9Fe3@d-UiO-66 is enhanced by 9.0 times compared to that of d-UiO-66. Moreover, SiW9Fe3@d-UiO-66 exhibits an apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) of 0.254% at 550 nm. The tactics of "working-in-tandem" achieved by POMs and d-UiO-66 are extremely vital for enhancing artificial ammonia synthesis. This study presents a paradigm for the development of an efficient artificial catalyst for nitrogen photofixation, aiming to mimic the process of biological nitrogen fixation.

Reticular framework materials for photocatalytic organic reactions

Photocatalytic organic reactions, harvesting solar energy to produce high value-added organic chemicals, have attracted increasing attention as a sustainable approach to address the global energy crisis and environmental issues. Reticular framework materials, including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs), are widely considered as promising candidates for photocatalysis owing to their high crystallinity, tailorable pore environment and extensive structural diversity. Although the design and synthesis of MOFs and COFs have been intensively developed in the last 20 years, their applications in photocatalytic organic transformations are still in the preliminary stage, making their systematic summary necessary. Thus, this review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding and useful guidelines for the exploration of suitable MOF and COF photocatalysts towards appropriate photocatalytic organic reactions. The commonly used reactions are categorized to facilitate the identification of suitable reaction types. From a practical viewpoint, the fundamentals of experimental design, including active species, performance evaluation and external reaction conditions, are discussed in detail for easy experimentation. Furthermore, the latest advances in photocatalytic organic reactions of MOFs and COFs, including their composites, are comprehensively summarized according to the actual active sites, together with the discussion of their structure-property relationship. We believe that this study will be helpful for researchers to design novel reticular framework photocatalysts for various organic synthetic applications.

Cu2+@metal-organic framework-derived amphiphilic sandwich catalysts for enhanced hydrogenation selectivity of ketenes at the oil-water interface

Selective catalysis has always been an essential process for manufacturing various fine chemicals, such as food additives, pharmaceuticals and perfumes. Practically, pure target products are difficult to obtain even after complex purification procedures during industrial production. The development of a cost-effective, highly chemoselective and long-life catalyst may be an attractive solution, but such a catalyst is elusive. Herein, a novel class of amphiphilic N-doped carbon (NC), featuring graphitic carbon (GC) and highly dispersed Cu@Co NPs, was fabricated via simple calcination of a Cu2+-doped bimetallic metal-organic framework (MOF) precusor directly. Compared with monometallic Co@GC/NC, the side reaction of CO bond hydrogenation is obviously restrained, and thus, pure target product can be systematically obtained by Cu@Co@GC/NC, highlighting the high selectivity of Cu. More importantly, an amphiphilic characteristic in Cu@Co@GC/NC is a significant knob to integrate organic substrates with water very well. This amphiphilic material shows great potential as a field-deployable pathway for dispersible metal catalysts in organic systems.

Opportunities and Challenges of Metal-Organic Framework Micro/Nano Reactors for Cascade Reactions

Building bridges among different types of catalysts to construct cascades is a highly worthwhile pursuit, such as chemo-, bio-, and chemo-bio cascade reactions. Cascade reactions can improve the reaction efficiency and selectivity while reducing steps of separation and purification, thereby promoting the development of "green chemistry". However, compatibility issues in cascade reactions pose significant constraints on the development of this field, particularly concerning the compatibility of diverse catalyst types, reaction conditions, and reaction rates. Metal-organic framework micro/nano reactors (MOF-MNRs) are porous crystalline materials formed by the self-assembly coordination of metal sites and organic ligands, possessing a periodic network structure. Due to the uniform pore size with the capability of controlling selective transfer of substances as well as protecting active substances and the organic-inorganic parts providing reactive microenvironment, MOF-MNRs have attracted significant attention in cascade reactions in recent years. In this Perspective, we first discuss how to address compatibility issues in cascade reactions using MOF-MNRs, including structural design and synthetic strategies. Then we summarize the research progress on MOF-MNRs in various cascade reactions. Finally, we analyze the challenges facing MOF-MNRs and potential breakthrough directions and opportunities for the future.

Metal-organic framework (MOF) hybridized gold nanoparticles as a bifunctional nanozyme for glucose sensing

Inspired by natural enzymes that possess multiple catalytic activities, here we develop a bifunctional metal-organic frame-work (MOF) for biosensing applications. Ultrasmall gold nano-particles (AuNPs) are grown in the internal cavities of an iron (Fe) porphyrin-based MOF to produce a hybridized nanozyme, AuNPs@PCN-224(Fe), in which AuNPs and PCN-224(Fe) exhibit the catalytic activity of glucose oxidase (GOx) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP), respectively. We established that the bifunctional nanozyme was capable of a cascade reaction to generate hydrogen peroxide in the presence of d-glucose and oxygen in situ, and subsequently activate a colorimetric or chemiluminescent substrate through HRP-mimicking catalytic activity. The nanozyme was selective over a range of other saccharides, and 93% of the catalytic activity was retained after being recycled five times.

Topologically Porous Heterostructures for Photo/Photothermal Catalysis of Clean Energy Conversion

As a straightforward way to fix solar energy, photo/photothermal catalysis with semiconductor provides a promising way to settle the energy shortage and environmental crisis in many fields, especially in clean energy conversion. Topologically porous heterostructures (TPHs), featured with well-defined pores and mainly composed by the derivatives of some precursors with specific morphology, are a major part of hierarchical materials in photo/photothermal catalysis and provide a versatile platform to construct efficient photocatalysts for their enhanced light absorption, accelerated charges transfer, improved stability, and promoted mass transportation. Therefore, a comprehensive and timely review on the advantages and recent applications of the TPHs is of great importance to forecast the potential applications and research trend in the future. This review initially demonstrates the advantages of TPHs in photo/photothermal catalysis. Then the universal classifications and design strategies of TPHs are emphasized. Besides, the applications and mechanisms of photo/photothermal catalysis in hydrogen evolution from water splitting and CO_x hydrogenation over TPHs are carefully reviewed and highlighted. Finally, the challenges and perspectives of TPHs in photo/photothermal catalysis are also critically discussed.

An elastic MOF/graphene aerogel with high photothermal efficiency for rapid removal of crude oil

Due to the frequent spill accidents during crude oil exploration and transport, to rapidly cleanup crude oil and eliminate the environmental pollution of oil spill is in high demand. In this work, a three-dimensional graphene aerogel (MEGA) with high elasticity, photothermal conversion capacity and adsorption capacity was prepared for rapid removal of crude oil. The results showed that the as-prepared MEGA exhibited a layered structure, the octahedral HKUST-1 nanoparticles and hydrophobic polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) coatings were uniformly deposited on the surface. Such a hierarchical micro-nano porous structure not only improved the aerogel's hydrophobicity (water contact angle in air up to 152.7°), but also endowed it with strong oil adsorption capacity (41-118 times of its own weight). Especially, the MEGA showed excellent photothermal conversion capacity. Under light irradiation, its temperature raised to 80 ℃ from room temperature in 100 s. As a result, the adsorption for one drop of crude oil by MEGA was shortened from 5 h to 40 s, comparing with that in dark condition. In addition, the MEGA showed remarkable elasticity and mechanical stability, it could maintain more than 90% efficiency after 10 adsorption-compression cycles. This study suggests that the prepared MEGA has great potential for rapid removal of crude oil.

Metal-based nano-delivery platform for treating bone disease and regeneration

Owing to their excellent characteristics, such as large specific surface area, favorable biosafety, and versatile application, nanomaterials have attracted significant attention in biomedical applications. Among them, metal-based nanomaterials containing various metal elements exhibit significant bone tissue regeneration potential, unique antibacterial properties, and advanced drug delivery functions, thus becoming crucial development platforms for bone tissue engineering and drug therapy for orthopedic diseases. Herein, metal-based drug-loaded nanomaterial platforms are classified and introduced, and the achievable drug-loading methods are comprehensively generalized. Furthermore, their applications in bone tissue engineering, osteoarthritis, orthopedic implant infection, bone tumor, and joint lubrication are reviewed in detail. Finally, the merits and demerits of the current metal-based drug-loaded nanomaterial platforms are critically discussed, and the challenges faced to realize their future applications are summarized.

Solar Energy Catalysis

When it comes to using solar energy to promote catalytic reactions, photocatalysis technology is the first choice. However, sunlight can not only be directly converted into chemical energy through a photocatalytic process, it can also be converted through different energy-transfer pathways. Using sunlight as the energy source, photocatalytic reactions can proceed independently, and can also be coupled with other catalytic technologies to enhance the overall catalytic efficiency. Therefore, sunlight-driven catalytic reactions are diverse, and need to be given a specific definition. We propose a timely perspective for catalytic reactions driven by sunlight and give them a specific definition, namely "solar energy catalysis". The concept of different types of solar energy catalysis, such as photocatalysis, photothermal catalysis, solar cell powered electrocatalysis, and pyroelectric catalysis, are highlighted. Finally, their limitations and future research directions are discussed.

Selective Detection of Alkaline Phosphatase Activity in Environmental Water Samples by Copper Nanoclusters Doped Lanthanide Coordination Polymer Nanocomposites as the Ratiometric Fluorescent Probe

In this paper, a novel, accurate, sensitive and rapid ratiometric fluorescent sensor was fabricated using a copper nanoclusters@infinite coordination polymer (ICP), specifically, terbium ion-guanosine 5'-disodium (Cu NCs@Tb-GMP) nanocomposites as the ratiometric fluorescent probe, to detect alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in water. The fluorescence probe was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The experimental results showed that, compared with Tb-GMP fluorescent sensors, Cu ratiometric fluorescent sensors based on NCs encapsulated in Tb-GMP had fewer experimental errors and fewer false-positive signals and were more conducive to the sensitive and accurate detection of ALP. In addition, the developed fluorescent probe had good fluorescence intensity, selectivity, repeatability and stability. Under optimized conditions, the ratiometric fluorescent sensor detected ALP in the range of 0.002-2 U mL^-1 (R² = 0.9950) with a limit of detection of 0.002 U mL^-1, and the recovery of ALP from water samples was less than 108.2%. These satisfying results proved that the ratiometric fluorescent probe has good application prospects and provides a new method for the detection of ALP in real water samples.

Highly Efficient Conversion of Propargylic Alcohols and Propargylic Amines with CO2 Activated by Noble-Metal-Free Catalyst Cu2 O@ZIF-8

The cyclization reactions of propargylic alcohols and propargylic amines with CO₂ are important in industrial applications, but it was a great challenge that non-noble-metal catalysts catalyzed both reactions under mild conditions. Herein, the catalyst Cu₂ O@ZIF-8 was prepared by encapsulating Cu₂ O nanoparticles into robust ZIF-8, and it can effectively catalyze the cyclization of both propargylic alcohols and propargylic amines with CO₂ into valuable α-alkylidene cyclic carbonates and oxazolidinones with turnover numbers (TONs) of 12.1 and 19.6, which can be recycled at least five times. The mechanisms were further uncovered by NMR, FTIR, ¹³ C isotope-labeling experiments and DFT calculations, in which Cu₂ O and DBU can synergistically activate the C≡C bond and the hydroxy/amino group of substrates. Importantly, it is the first example of a noble-metal-free catalyst that can catalyze both propargylic alcohols and propargylic amines with CO₂ simultaneously.

Smart MOF-on-MOF Hydrogel as a Simple Rod-shaped Core for Visual Detection and Effective Removal of Pesticides

The immoderate use of pesticides in the modern agricultural industry has led to the pollution of water resources and ultimately threatens the human body. Herein, two metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), namely {[Zn(tpt)₂ ·2H₂ O]}_n (Zn1) and {[Zn₂ (tpt)₂ (bdc)]}_n (Zn2), (Htpt = 5-[4(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)]phenyl-2H-tetrazole), respectively, are constructed as smart materials for visual and on-site detection of pesticides and their removal from water. The exposed nitrogen-rich sites and high chemical stability make Zn2 a self-assembly core to further fabricate MOF-on-MOF-sodium alginate (ZIF-8-on-Zn2@SA) composite by wrapping ZIF-8 on the outside surface. Inheriting the excellent fluorescent emission of Zn2, the rod-like ZIF-8-on-Zn2@SA module exhibits naked-eye detection of thiophanate-methyl (TM) in real fruits and vegetables with a broad linear range (10-100 × 10^-6  m), a low limit of detection (LOD = 0.14 × 10^-6  m), and satisfactory recoveries (98.30-102.70%). In addition, carbendazim (CBZ), the metabolite of TM after usage in crops, can be efficiently removed from water by the ZIF-8-on-Zn2@SA (q_max  = 161.8 mg g^-1 ) with a high correlation coefficient (R²  > 0.99). Therefore, the portable ZIF-8-on-Zn2@SA sensing platform presents a promising candidate for monitoring and removal of pesticides, especially suitable for regions with serious pesticide environmental pollution.

Recent development in antibacterial activity and application of nanozymes in food preservation

Nanozymes with excellent broad-spectrum antibacterial properties offers an alternative strategy for food preservation. This review comprehensively summarized the antibacterial mechanisms of nanozymes, including the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the destruction of biofilms. Besides, the primary factors (size, morphology, hybridization, light, etc.) regulating the antibacterial activity of different types of nanozymes were highlighted in detail, which provided effective guidance on how to design highly efficient antibacterial nanozymes. Moreover, this review presented elaborated viewpoints on the unique applications of nanozymes in food preservation, including the selection of nanozymes loading matrix, fabrication techniques of nanozymes-based antibacterial films/coatings, and the recent advances in the application of nanozymes-based antibacterial films/coatings in food preservation. In the end, the safety issues of nanozymes have also been mentioned. Overall, this review provided new avenues in the field of food preservation and displayed great prospects.

One-step fabrication of Cu-based metal organic framework multilayer core-shell microspheres for efficiently catalyzing the oxygen reduction reaction

Micro/nanomaterials with multilayer core-shell structures are receiving widespread attention due to their potential in energy storage and conversion systems. However, simple fabrication of multilayered core-shell structured micro/nanomaterials with a consistent composition still faces a great challenge. Herein, a simple one-step solvothermal method is used to fabricate Cu-based metal organic framework multilayer core-shell microspheres (Cu-MOF-MCSMSs) as efficient oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalysts. The systematic structural evolution of Cu-MOF-MCSMSs is from microspheres to core-shell microspheres and then to multilayer core-shell microspheres. Additionally, different transition metal cations and anions can also influence the structures, compositions and thus ORR activities of the synthesized MOFs. The representative Cu-MOF-MCSMSs exhibit high ORR activity and cycling stability. The simple method can provide a good guide to fabricate other micro/nanomaterials with multilayer core-shell structures and desirable properties.

Metal-Organic Framework-Based Nanoheater with Photo-Triggered Cascade Effects for On-Demand Suppression of Cellular Thermoresistance and Synergistic Cancer Therapy

Nanomedicine with stable light-heat conversion and spatiotemporally controllable drug activation is crucial for the success of photothermal therapy (PTT). Herein, a metal-organic framework (MOF)-based nanoheater with light-triggered multi-responsiveness is engineered to in-situ and on-demand sensitize cancer cells to local hyperthermia. Well-dispersed platinum nanoparticles synthesized inside nanospaces of the MOF are employed as the near-infrared (NIR)-harvesting unit with stable and high light-heat conversion performance. A conformation switchable polymer shell is constructed as a secondary light-responding unit to gate the targeted activation of a molecular inhibitor against thermoresistance. By cascade transformation of light stimuli to downstream signals, the nanoheater enables inhibitor release to go with local heating at the same time restricted in lesion sites to maximize efficacy and minimize systemic toxicity. The efficient photothermal conversion and the blockage of cellular heat-protective pathways provide a dual-mode of action which selectively sensitizes cancer cells to hyperthermia in a spatiotemporally controlled manner. With NIR as the remote switch, the MOF-based nanosystem demonstrates localized and boosted PTT efficacy against cancer both in vitro and in vivo. These results present nanosized MOFs as tailorable and versatile platforms for synergistic and precise cancer therapy.

Metal-Organic Frameworks Derived Electrocatalysts for Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide Reduction Reaction

The increasing demands of energy and environmental concerns have motivated researchers to cultivate renewable energy resources for replacing conventional fossil fuels. The modern energy conversion and storage devices required high efficient and stable electrocatalysts to fulfil the market demands. In previous years, we are witness for considerable developments of scientific attention in Metal-organic Frameworks (MOFs) and their derived nanomaterials in electrocatalysis. In current review article, we have discussed the progress of optimistic strategies and approaches for the manufacturing of MOF-derived functional materials and their presentation as electrocatalysts for significant energy related reactions. MOFs functioning as a self-sacrificing template bid different benefits for the preparation of metal nanostructures, metal oxides and carbon-abundant materials promoting through the porous structure, organic functionalities, abundance of metal sites and large surface area. Thorough study for the recent advancement in the MOF-derived materials, metal-coordinated N-doped carbons with single-atom active sites are emerging candidates for future commercial applications. However, there are some tasks that should be addressed, to attain improved, appreciative and controlled structural parameters for catalytic and chemical behavior.

Multifunctional Pd/MOFs@MOFs Confined Core-Shell Catalysts with Wrinkled Surface for Selective Catalysis

Process intensification, targeting the maximization of spatial-temporal productivity utilizing minimum energy and resources has always been the constant trends especially in chemical industry. In this regard, tandem reactions that are able to perform a multi-step reaction in a single pot by eliminating costly separation steps have been viewed as a typical paradigm. However, a spatial isolation of varied active sites with a controlled manner in a single catalyst to avoid deactivation and work synergistically is a challenging problem yet sometimes being overlooked. In this work, a spatial base-metal core-shell structured catalyst with wrinkled surface was successfully fabricated by a direct homoepitaxial growth method in an acid/water system, which exhibited increased hydrophobicity, exposure of active sites and significantly improved product selectivity towards one-pot Knoevenagel condensation-hydrogenation tandem reaction compared with the uncoated catalyst. Meanwhile, the catalytic performance was largely retained and the structural stability was maintained even after successive 8 cycles, which shows great promise for industrial applications.

Photocatalytic cascade reactions and dye degradation over CdS-metal-organic framework hybrids

Two bifunctional CdS–MOF composites have been designed and fabricated. The hybrids exhibited synergistic photocatalytic performance toward two cascade reactions under visible light integrating photooxidation activity of CdS and Lewis acids/bases of the MOF. The composite further promoted the photodegradation of dyes benefiting from effective electron transfer between the MOF and CdS.

Photocatalytic Activity of Supported Metal Nanoparticles and Single Atoms

Photocatalysis has been known as one of the promising technologies due to its eco-friendly nature. However, the potential application of many photocatalysts is limited owing to their large bandgaps and inefficient use of the solar spectrum. One strategy to overcome this problem is to combine the advantages of heteroatom-containing supports with active metal centers to accurately adjust the structural parameters. Metal nanoparticles (MNPs) and single atom catalysts (SACs) are excellent candidates due to their distinctive coordination environment which enhances photocatalytic activity. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and carbon nitride (g-C₃ N₄ ) have shown great potential as catalyst support for SACs and MNPs. The numerous combinations of organic linkers with various heteroatoms and metal ions provide unique structural characteristics to achieve advanced materials. This review describes the recent advancement of the modified MOFs, COFs and g-C₃ N₄ with SACs and NPs for enhanced photocatalytic applications with emphasis on environmental remediation.

Cu Nanoclusters Anchored on the Metal-Organic Framework for the Hydrolysis of Ammonia Borane and the Reduction of Quinolines

Free-access active sites created and the interaction regulated between them and substrates during the heterogeneous catalysis process are crucial, which remain a great challenge. In this work, in suit reduced to afford naked Cu nanoparticles (NPs) have been anchored on the metal-organic framework (MOF), NH₂-MOF, to form Cu-NH₂-MOF. The strategy can precisely control the Cu NP formation with small size and uniform distribution. The Cu NP properties and MOF advantages have been integrated to create a great catalyst with multiple functions and have resulted in improving the recyclability and superb catalytic activity for the one-pot reduction of heterocycle reactions under mild conditions. The experimental and theoretical calculation results show that the superior performance should be attributed to the framework of NH₂-MOF that provides large caves for substrate enrichment and the stabilization of Cu sites by the -NH₂ group.

Facile construction of S-containing Co-based metal organic framework core-shell microspheres as an efficient bifunctional oxygen electrocatalyst

A cost-effective non-noble metal bifunctional electrocatalyst towards the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is very important for energy-related applications. Micro/nanomaterials with core-shell structures have emerged as potential non-noble metal catalyst candidates. Herein, an efficient bifunctional oxygen electrocatalyst, S-containing Co-based metal organic framework core-shell microspheres (Co-MOF-CSMSs), has been designed and constructed by using 2,2':5',2''-terthiophene-5,5''-dicarboxylic acid as a novel ligand through a facile one-step hydrothermal method. Due to the integrated favorable structural characteristics of the core-shell structure and MOFs for electrocatalysis, Co-MOF-CSMSs are revealed as a good bifunctional electrocatalyst for the ORR and OER, including an onset potential of 0.93 V vs. RHE (reversible hydrogen electrode), a half-wave potential of 0.78 V vs. RHE and an overpotential of 0.35 V at 10 mA cm^-2. This work provides a low-cost and facile method to design and construct advanced micro/nanomaterials with core-shell structures to targetedly develop high-performance bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts.

Decoration of amine functionalized zirconium metal organic framework/silver iodide heterojunction on carbon fiber cloth as a filter- membrane-shaped photocatalyst for degrading antibiotics

The development of recyclable photocatalyst with high adsorption and excellent photocatalytic performance has attracted considerable attention. Herein, we report a three-component photocatalyst by constructing porous amine functionalized zirconium metal organic framework (UiO-66-NH₂) and broad photo-responsive AgI on flexible carbon fiber cloth (CFC). UiO-66-NH₂ nanoparticles (200-400 nm) were in-situ grown on the surface of CFC (16.5 ± 0.5 μm, 4 × 4 cm²) by a solvothermal route, then AgI particles (50-100 nm) were synthesized on CFC/UiO-66-NH₂ via a modified chemical bath deposition method. The obtained CFC/UiO-66-NH₂/AgI can effectively adsorb 19.0% levofloxacin (LVFX) or 18.4% ciprofloxacin (CIP) in 60 min in the dark and degrade 84.5% LVFX or 79.6% CIP in 120 min under visible light irradiation. Furthermore, the filter-membrane-shaped CFC/UiO-66-NH₂/AgI can be utilized to treat the flowing sewage (CIP, 10 mg/L, ~1 L/h), and the removing efficiency of CIP reached 71.0% after 10 grades. Therefore, this work demonstrates the huge application prospect of recyclable CFC/UiO-66-NH₂/AgI with high adsorption and photocatalytic capacity in flowing sewage treatment under visible light illumination.

Synthesis of a bimetallic metal–organic framework catalyst via selective detection and adsorption of Fe3+ for enhanced bio-based catalysis
