Abstract
Iron sulfides have shown great potential as anode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) because of their high sodium storage capacity and low cost. Nevertheless, iron sulfides generally exhibit unsatisfied electrochemical performance induced by sluggish electron/ion transfer and severe pulverization upon the sodiation/desodiation process. Herein, we constructed a yolk-shell FeS@NC nanosphere with an N-doped carbon shell and FeS particle core via a simple hydrothermal method, followed by in-situ polymerization and vulcanization. The FeS particles intimately coupled with N-doped carbon can accelerate the electron transfer, avoid severe volume expansion, and maintain structural stability upon repeated sodiation/desodiation process. Furthermore, the small particle size of FeS can shorten ion-diffusion distance and facilitate ion transportation. Therefore, the FeS@NC nanosphere shows excellent cycling performance and superior rate capability that it can deliver a high capacity of 520.1 mAh g-1 over 800 cycles at 2.0 A g-1 and a remarkable capacity of 625.9 mAh g-1 at 10.0 A g-1.

Hierarchical etching-assembly engineering of Fe-based composite microspheres with balanced magnetic-dielectric synergy towards ultrahigh electromagnetic wave absorption. J Colloid Interface Sci 2024; 668:1-11. Abstract
Hierarchical engineering of magnetic-dielectric composite microspheres has attracted increasing attention owing to its potential to enhance electromagnetic wave absorption (EMA) through magnetic-dielectric synergy. However, optimizing magnetic-dielectric balance in composite microspheres at the nanoscale remains a formidable task due to their limited component optimization and microstructural regulation. Herein, a novel approach is proposed to modify conventional carbonyl iron powder (CIP) microspheres via synergistic etching-assembly strategy. By applying a polydopamine coating, successive tannic acid (TA) etching-assembly, and pyrolysis, hierarchical iron@carbon-1/N-doped carbon (Fe@C-1/NC) composite microspheres are obtained. This overcomes the drawbacks of CIP microspheres, including their high density and poor impedance matching, which hinder EMA performance. Hierarchical carbon layer engineering can introduce abundant dipole centers, heterogeneous interfaces, and conductive networks to induce dielectric loss, while magnetic components contribute to magnetic resonance and eddy current loss, as demonstrated by the results. Accordingly, Fe@C-1/NC composite microspheres demonstrate a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of -70.7 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth of 3.75 GHz at a matching thickness of 2.3 mm. Generally, this work paves the way towards CIP engineering to provide guidance to the future exploration of hierarchical magnetic-dielectric EMA materials.

Abstract
2D layered metallic graphite composites are promising electromagnetic wave absorption materials (EWAMs) for their combined properties of abundant interlayer free spaces, rich metallic polarized sites, and high conductivity, but the controllable synthesis remains rather challenging. Herein, a dual-step redox engineering strategy is developed by employing cobalt boron imidazolate framework (Co-BIF) to construct 2D CoNi-alloy embedded B, N-doped carbon layers (2D-CNC) as a promising EWAM. In the first step, a chemical etching oxidation process on Co-BIF is used to obtain an optimized 2D-CoNi-layered double hydroxide (2D-CoNi-LDH) intermediate and in the second, high-temperature calcination reduction is implemented to modify graphitization of the degree of the 2D-CNC. The obtained sample delivers superior reflection loss (RLmin) of -60.1 dB and wide effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 6.24 GHz. The synergy mechanisms of interfacial/dipole polarization and magnetic coupling are in-depth evidenced by the hologram and Lorentz electron microscopy, revealing its significant contribution on multireflection and impedance matching. Further theoretical evaluation by COMSOL simulation in different fields based on the dynamic loss process toward the test ring reveals the in situ EW attenuation process. This work presents a strategy to develop multifunctional light-weight infrared stealthy aerogel with superior pressure-resistant, anti-corrosion, and heat-insulating properties for future applications.

Abstract
Intelligent devices, when subjected to multiple interactions, tend to generate electromagnetic pollution, which can disrupt the normal functioning of electronic components. Ferrite, which acts as a microwave-absorbing material (MAM), offers a promising strategy to overcome this issue. To further enhance the microwave absorption properties of ferrite MAM, numerous works have been conducted, including ion doping and combining with other materials. Notably, the microstructure is also key factor that affects the microwave absorption properties of ferrite-based MAM. Thus, this article provides a comprehensive overview of research progress on the influence of the microstructure on ferrite-based MAM. MAMs with sheet and layered structures are also current important research directions. For core-shell structure composites, the solid core-shell structure, hollow core-shell structure, yolk-eggshell structure, and non-spherical core-shell structure are introduced. For porous composites, the biomass porous structure and other porous structures are presented. Finally, the development trends are summarized, and prospects for the structure design and preparation of high-performance MAMs are predicted.

Abstract
Heterointerface engineering is an attractive approach to modulating electromagnetic (EM) parameters and EM wave absorption performance. However, the weak interfacial interactions and poor impedance matching would lead to unsatisfactory EM absorption performance due to the limitation of the construction materials and design strategies. Herein, multilevel heterointerface engineering is proposed by in situ growing nanosheet-like NiCoO2 and selenides with abundant interface structures on 3D-printed graphene aerogel (GA) skeletons, which strengthens the interfacial effect and improves the dielectric polarization loss. Benefiting from the features of substantially enhanced polarization loss and optimized impedance matching, the graphene/S-NiCoO2/selenides (G/S-NCO/Se) have achieved brilliant EM wave absorption performance with a strong reflection loss (RL) value of -60.7 dB and a broad effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 8 GHz, which is about six times greater than that of the graphene aerogel (-9.8 dB). Moreover, it is further confirmed by charge density differences and off-axis electron holography that a large amount of polarized charge accumulates at the interface, leading to significant polarization relaxation behaviors. This work provides a deep understanding of the effect of a multilevel heterogeneous interface on dielectric polarization loss, which injects a fresh and infinite vitality for designing high-efficiency EM wave absorbers.

Abstract
The synthesis of materials with a multicomponent hierarchical structure is an essential strategy for achieving high-performance electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption. However, conventional design strategies face challenges in terms of the rational construction of specific architecture. In this study, we employ a combined space-restricted and hierarchical construction strategy to surface-plant MoS2 nanosheets on yolk-shell structural carbon-modified Co-based composites, leading to the development of high-performance Co/NC@void@C@MoS2 absorbers with advanced architecture. The surface-planted MoS2 nanosheets, the Co/NC magnetic yolk, and the dielectric carbon shell work together to enhance the impedance matching characteristics and synergistic loss capabilities in the composites. Experimental results indicate that Co/NC@void@C-700@MoS2 exhibited the best absorption performance with an effective absorption bandwidth of 7.54 GHz (at 2.05 mm) and a minimum reflection loss of -60.88 dB (at 1.85 mm). Furthermore, radar cross-section simulation results demonstrate that Co/NC@void@C-700@MoS2 effectively suppresses the scattering and transmission of EMWs on perfect electric conductor substrates, implying its superior practical application value. This study provides inspiration and experimental basis for designing and optimizing EMW absorption materials with hierarchical yolk-shell architecture.

Abstract
Flexible microwave absorbers with Joule heating performance are urgently desired to meet the demands of extreme service environments. Herein, a type of flexible composite film is constructed by homogeneously dispersing a hierarchical Ni-carbon microtube (Ni/CMT) into a processable polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) matrix. The Ni/CMT are interconnected into a 3D conductive network, in which the huge interior cavity of the carbon microtube (CMT) improves impedance matching and provides additional hyper channels for electromagnetic (EM) waves dissipation, and the hierarchical magnetic Ni nanoparticles enhance the synergistic interactions between confined heterogeneous interfaces. Such an ingenious structure endows the composites with excellent electrothermal performance and improves their serviceability for application under extreme environments. Moreover, under a low fill loading of 3 wt.%, the Ni/CMT/PTFE (NCP) can achieve excellent low-frequency microwave absorption (MA) property with a minimum reflection loss of -59.12 dB at 5.92 GHz, which covers almost the entire C-band. Relying on their brilliant MA property, an EM sensor is designed and achieved by the resonance coupling of the patterned NCP. This work opens up a new way for the design of next-generation microwave absorbers that meet the requirements of EM packaging, proofing water and removing ice, fire safety, and health monitoring.
