Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE The occurrence of ovarian tumors during pregnancy is relatively low, with an incidence of approximately 0.05 %. Both primary ovarian cancer and metastatic malignancies are uncommon in pregnant women, and there is often a delay in diagnosing these conditions. CASE PRESENTATION We report the case of rectal cancer with ovarian metastasis discovered in a 36-year-old multiparous pregnant woman who presented at 21 weeks gestation with constipation and increased abdominal volume over the past three weeks. These symptoms were associated with loss of appetite and general fatigue. Further investigations revealed a 12 × 9 cm mass on the left side of the uterus and a 5.2 × 4 × 3.6 cm mass in the recto-sigmoid region. Initially, the patient underwent left adnexectomy, peritoneal cytology, biopsies of the peritoneum, epiploic region, and right ovary. Subsequently, the pregnancy was continued until 34 weeks' amenorrhea, when the fetus was extracted, and a complete surgical procedure was performed, including total hysterectomy, right adnexectomy, resection of the recto-sigmoid tumor with appendectomy and infra-gastric omentectomy. After surgery, the patient received adjuvant chemotherapy. CLINICAL DISCUSSION It is important to consider the possibility of malignancy during pregnancy when atypical clinical presentations occur. Gastrointestinal cancer is the most common cause of Krukenberg's tumor in pregnant women. Early diagnosis of cancer at an operable stage is essential to improve prognosis. CONCLUSIONS This clinical case highlights the rarity of Krukenberg's tumor during pregnancy and the challenges encountered in diagnosing and treating this disease.

Abstract
Purpose To develop a combined diagnostic model integrating the subclassification of the 2022 version of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS) with carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125) and to validate whether the combined model can offer superior diagnostic efficacy than O-RADS alone in assessing adnexal malignancy risk. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 593 patients with adnexal masses (AMs), and the pathological and clinical data were included. According to the large differences in malignancy risk indices for different image features in O-RADS category 4, the lesions were categorized into groups A and B. A new diagnostic criterion was developed. Lesions identified as category 1, 2, 3, or 4A with a CA125 level below 35 U/ml were classified as benign. Lesions identified as category 4A with a CA125 level more than or equal to 35 U/ml and lesions with a category of 4B and 5 were classified as malignant. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), accuracy, and area under the curve (AUC) of O-RADS (v2022), CA125, and the combined model in the diagnosis of AMs were calculated and compared. Results The sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, accuracy, and AUCs of the combined model were 92.4%, 96.5%, 80.2%, 98.8%, 94.1%, and 0.945, respectively. The specificity, PPV, accuracy, and AUC of the combined model were significantly higher than those of O-RADS alone (all P < 0.01). In addition, both models had acceptable sensitivity and NPV, but there were no significant differences among them (P > 0.05). Conclusion The combined model integrating O-RADS subclassification with CA125 could improve the specificity and PPV in diagnosing malignant AMs. It could be a valuable tool in the clinical application of risk stratification of AMs.

Abstract
Background: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are a rare neoplasm, sometimes mimicking primary ovarian tumors (OTs) and/or metastasizing to the ovaries (M-OT). We performed a systematic literature review (SLR) of OTs and M-OTs, investigating differences in recurrence-free and overall survival. Methods: Our SLR was performed according to PRISMA guidelines, searching in Pubmed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases from inception until 21 April 2024. Results: Overall, 59 OTs (Group 1) and 21 M-OTs (Group 2) were retrieved. The absence of residual disease after surgery was achieved significantly in a higher percentage of patients with Group 1 GISTs (91.5%) compared with Group 2 GISTs (57.1%). Chemotherapy was more frequently administered to Group 2 patients (33% vs. 0%). Recurrence and deaths for disease were significantly more frequent in Group 2 than Group 1 cases (54.5% vs. 6.8%, and 37.5% vs. 9.8%, respectively). Conclusions: GISTs can rarely mimic primary ovarian cancers or even more rarely metastasize to the ovaries. Group 1 GISTs occurred in younger women, were not associated with elevated tumor markers, and had a better prognosis. In contrast, Group 2 GISTs occurred in older women, may exhibit elevated tumor markers, and presented a worse prognosis. However, no significant statistical difference for survival between the two studied groups was detected. Computed tomography scans can define the size of GISTs, which correlate to stage and prognostic risk classes. The gold standard treatment is complete surgical resection, which was achieved in almost all cases of Group 1 GISTs and in half of Group 2. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry are essential for the final diagnosis and guide chemotherapy treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Accurate characterization of newly diagnosed a solid adnexal lesion is a key step in defining the most appropriate therapeutic approach. Despite guidance from the International Ovarian Tumor Analyzes Panel, the evaluation of these lesions can be challenging. Recent studies have demonstrated how machine learning techniques can be applied to clinical data to solve this diagnostic problem. However, ML models can often consider as black-boxes due to the difficulty of understanding the decision-making process used by the algorithm to obtain a specific result. AIMS For this purpose, we propose an Explainable Artificial Intelligence model trained on clinical characteristics and qualitative ultrasound indicators to predict solid adnexal masses diagnosis. MATERIALS & METHODS Since the diagnostic task was a three-class problem (benign tumor, invasive cancer, or ovarian metastasis), we proposed a waterfall classification model: a first model was trained and validated to discriminate benign versus malignant, a second model was trained to distinguish nonmetastatic versus metastatic malignant lesion which occurs when a patient is predicted to be malignant by the first model. Firstly, a stepwise feature selection procedure was implemented. The classification performances were validated on Leave One Out scheme. RESULTS The accuracy of the three-class model reaches an overall accuracy of 86.36%, and the precision per-class of the benign, nonmetastatic malignant, and metastatic malignant classes were 86.96%, 87.27%, and 77.78%, respectively. DISCUSSION SHapley Additive exPlanations were performed to visually show how the machine learning model made a specific decision. For each patient, the SHAP values expressed how each characteristic contributed to the classification result. Such information represents an added value for the clinical usability of a diagnostic system. CONCLUSIONS This is the first work that attempts to design an explainable machine-learning tool for the histological diagnosis of solid masses of the ovary.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this report was to present the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of Krukenberg tumors and to review the pertinent clinical data about the rising incidence of this malignancy among young women. MATERIAL AND METHODS This series included 8 women who ranged in age from 24 to 44 years (mean, 36.3 years). They were diagnosed to have Krukenberg tumors during a 5-year period (2011-2016). All patients were evaluated by abdominal CT and pelvic or transvaginal sonography. Five of them also had MRI of the abdomen, and 3 had positron emission tomography scans. RESULTS The primary cancer was located in the stomach of 7 patients and in the colon in 1. The initial presentation was due to large pelvic mass and abdominal distention by ascites in 3 patients, gastrointestinal symptoms in 4, and small bowel obstruction by carcinoma of the ascending colon in 1 woman. Ovarian metastases were demonstrated on the initial imaging examination of 5 patients and developed as metachronous lesion during follow-up in 3 cases. Six women died 3 to 23 months (mean, 11 months) after the diagnosis. One has survived for 6 years after extensive surgery, and 1 was lost to follow-up. CONCLUSIONS Krukenberg tumors are being diagnosed with an increasing frequency because of well-documented rising incidence of gastric and colorectal carcinomas among young women. Therefore, those presenting with gastrointestinal cancer should have careful imaging of their ovaries for possible metastases, and conversely, the clinical or sonographic detection of bilateral ovarian masses would require evaluation by CT or MRI of the abdomen in search for a potential primary gastrointestinal cancer. This report highlights the CT and MRI features of this neoplastic process and reviews the current concepts about its development and management.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of the study is to describe the radiological spectrum of appearances of ovarian lymphoma (OL). The manuscript describes the radiological aspects of OL to assist the radiologist in achieving correct orientation of the diagnosis. METHODS We conducted a retrospective evaluation of imaging studies of 98 cases of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, with extra-nodal localisation (ovaries) in three cases (1 primary, 2 secondary). A literature review was also performed. RESULTS Of the three evaluated women, one had a primary ovarian involvement and two had a secondary ovarian involvement. The most common lesion characteristics were a well-defined, solid homogeneous and hypoechoic mass at US. CT depicts OL as a well-defined, non-infiltrating, homogeneous hypodense solid mass, with mild contrast enhancement. On T1-weight MRI, OL appears as a homogeneous mass of low signal intensity, which enhances avidly following intravenous gadolinium. CONCLUSION Clinical and serological presentation of OL can be similar to that of primary ovarian cancer. As imaging plays a central role in the diagnosis of OL, the radiologist should be familiar with US, CT and MRI appearances of this condition to correctly orient the diagnosis and so avoid unnecessary adnexectomy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the performance of subjective assessment and the Assessment of Different NEoplasias in the adneXa (ADNEX) model in discriminating between benign and malignant adnexal tumors and between metastatic and primary adnexal tumors in patients with a personal history of breast cancer. METHODS This was a retrospective single-center study including patients with a history of breast cancer who underwent surgery for an adnexal mass between 2013 and 2020. All patients had been examined with transvaginal or transrectal ultrasound using a standardized examination technique and all ultrasound reports had been stored and were retrieved for the purposes of this study. The specific diagnosis suggested by the original ultrasound examiner in the retrieved report was analyzed. For each mass, the ADNEX model risks were calculated prospectively and the highest relative risk was used to categorize each into one of five categories (benign, borderline, primary Stage I, primary Stages II-IV or metastatic ovarian cancer) for analysis of the ADNEX model in predicting the specific tumor type. The performance of subjective assessment and the ADNEX model in discriminating between benign and malignant adnexal tumors and between primary and metastatic adnexal tumors was evaluated, using final histology as the reference standard. RESULTS Included in the study were 202 women with a history of breast cancer who underwent surgery for an adnexal mass. At histology, 93/202 (46.0%) masses were benign, 76/202 (37.6%) were primary malignancies (four borderline and 72 invasive tumors) and 33/202 (16.3%) were metastases. The original ultrasound examiner classified correctly 79/93 (84.9%) benign adnexal masses, 72/76 (94.7%) primary adnexal malignancies and 30/33 (90.9%) metastatic tumors. Subjective ultrasound evaluation had a sensitivity of 93.6%, specificity of 84.9% and accuracy of 89.6%, while the ADNEX model had higher sensitivity (98.2%) but lower specificity (78.5%), with similar accuracy (89.1%), in discriminating between benign and malignant ovarian masses. Subjective evaluation had a sensitivity of 51.5%, specificity of 88.8% and accuracy of 82.7% in distinguishing metastatic and primary tumors (including benign, borderline and invasive tumors), and the ADNEX model had a sensitivity of 63.6%, specificity of 84.6% and similar accuracy (81.2%). CONCLUSIONS The performance of subjective assessment and the ADNEX model in discriminating between benign and malignant adnexal masses in this series of patients with history of breast cancer was relatively similar. Both subjective assessment and the ADNEX model demonstrated good accuracy and specificity in discriminating between metastatic and primary tumors, but the sensitivity was low. © 2023 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Abstract
Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor in adult women. Its common metastatic sites are lymph nodes, bones, lungs, the liver, and the brain. It is so rare for a patient with breast cancer to have metastases of the gastrointestinal tract, peritoneum, and ovary at the same time that the clinical reporting rate is low. We present a case of a 61-year-old woman who underwent right mastectomy and chemoradiotherapy 3 years ago because of mixed invasive ductal-lobular breast cancer. This time, she came to the hospital due to the symptom of stomach discomfort for 2 weeks. The gastroscopy biopsy result showed gastric metastasis from breast cancer. Then, 18F-FDG imaging and 68Ga-FAPI PET/CT imaging were performed for further diagnosis; 68Ga-FAPI PET/CT demonstrated a significantly elevated FAPI activity in the thickened gastric wall, peritoneum, and bilateral adnexal areas, which was superior to that of 18F-FDG. Finally, a biopsy of suspicious lesions was taken for pathological and histochemical examination, which confirmed that, in addition to the gastric metastasis, the peritoneum and bilateral ovaries were all consistent with metastatic breast cancer.

Abstract
This case report describes the detection of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) within ovarian tissue after cryopreservation. The 27-year-old woman presented no gynecological symptoms such as pelvic pain or abnormal uterine bleeding. During laparoscopy for ovarian tissue cryopreservation, the ovaries appeared markedly modified and some solid content cysts were highlighted. Microscopically the cysts revealed the presence of lymphoid infiltrate, whereas the histological assessment of some fragments of the ovarian cortical tissue revealed no evidence of pathological lymphoid infiltration. This case report describes the presence of pathological lymphoid infiltration in ovarian cysts but not in the cortical tissue of a young woman with secondary NHL. Despite the absence of the positivity in cortical tissue it was recommended to avoid the cryopreserved ovarian tissue transplantation to reduce the risk of reseeding of the malignancy in the woman.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of the study was to investigate the characteristic findings of computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to discriminate metastasis from primary ovarian tumors in patients with a history of breast cancer. METHODS This retrospective study enrolled consecutive 72 patients with a history of breast cancer who underwent surgical confirmation of an ovarian mass detected on CT or MRI (primary ovarian tumors, n = 66; metastases, n = 6). Two independent readers analyzed the grade of solid portions of the ovarian mass using a 5-point scale on CT or MRI. A predominantly cystic mass was defined as a solid grade of 1 to 2. Cancer antigen 125 (CA 125) and the initial stage of breast cancer were also investigated. RESULTS The proportions of predominantly cystic masses were significantly different between metastases (0% for both readers) and primary ovarian tumors (59% for reader 1 and 53% for reader 2, P < 0.05). For masses of solid portion grades 3 to 5, CA 125 was significantly higher for malignant epithelial tumors than for the other tumors (P < 0.001), and the initial stage of breast cancer was significantly higher for metastases than for the other tumors (P < 0.001), respectively. CONCLUSIONS In patients with a history of breast cancer, predominantly cystic masses detected on CT or MRI seem to be primary ovarian tumors. For the other masses, knowledge of CA 125 and initial breast cancer stage may help in the differential diagnosis.

Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of adequacy, accuracy, and safety of ultrasound-guided tru-cut biopsy in managing malignant and benign abdominopelvic masses in a selected population and critically discuss some issues in different situations, which deserve some reflections on those practices. Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective study involving 42 patients who underwent transvaginal or transabdominal tru-cut biopsy between August 2017 and November 2021. The inclusion criteria were poor health status or primary inoperable advanced tumor, suspicion of recurrence or metastasis to the ovaries or peritoneum in gynecological and non-gynecological pelvic malignancies. Tissue samples were considered adequate if it was possible to determine the origin of the tumor, and immunohistochemistry could be performed. Diagnostic accuracy was assessed considering the agreement between tru-cut biopsy histology and final postoperative histology. Results: It total, 44 biopsies were obtained from 42 patients (2 patients had repeat biopsies). The pathologist considered all pathological samples adequate (adequacy 100%). The final histology was consistent with tru-cut biopsy diagnosis in all but 2 cases (diagnostic accuracy 88.2%). If we consider only the cases that have carried out at least two diagnostic samples, accuracy rose to 94.1%. Pathological examinations from tru-cut samples showed 2 benign lesions (4.8%) and 40 malignant tumors (95.2%), divided into 19 advanced primary inoperable ovarian cancers, 7 primary advanced cervical cancers, 4 recurrent endometrial cancers, 3 recurrent cervical cancers, 3 recurrent ovarian cancers, 1 case of primitive peritoneal malignancy (leiomyosarcoma), and 3 non-gynecological cancers with a strong suspicion of metastases at ultrasound (2 cases of ovarian, colorectal cancer metastasis, and 1 case of pelvic site type B lymphoma metastasis). However, one case of minor complication related to the procedure was reported but not significant. Conclusions: The diagnostic adequacy, accuracy of the tru-cut biopsy, and safety were high. Pathological samples are representative of the disease and suitable for histological and immunohistochemical analysis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To describe the clinical and ultrasound characteristics of ovarian carcinosarcoma. METHODS This was a retrospective multicenter study. Patients with a histological diagnosis of ovarian carcinosarcoma, who had undergone preoperative ultrasound examination between 2010 and 2019, were identified from the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) database. Additional patients who were examined outside of the IOTA study were identified from the databases of the participating centers. The masses were described using the terms and definitions of the IOTA group. Additionally, two experienced ultrasound examiners reviewed all available images to identify typical ultrasound features using pattern recognition. RESULTS Ninety-one patients with ovarian carcinosarcoma who had undergone ultrasound examination were identified, of whom 24 were examined within the IOTA studies and 67 were examined outside of the IOTA studies. Median age at diagnosis was 66 (range, 33-91) years and 84/91 (92.3%) patients were postmenopausal. Most patients (67/91, 73.6%) were symptomatic, with the most common complaint being pain (51/91, 56.0%). Most tumors (67/91, 73.6%) were International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Stage III or IV. Bilateral lesions were observed on ultrasound in 46/91 (50.5%) patients. Ascites was present in 38/91 (41.8%) patients. The median largest tumor diameter was 100 (range, 18-260) mm. All ovarian carcinosarcomas contained solid components, and most were described as solid (66/91, 72.5%) or multilocular-solid (22/91, 24.2%). The median diameter of the largest solid component was 77.5 (range, 11-238) mm. Moderate or rich vascularization was found in 78/91 (85.7%) cases. Retrospective analysis of ultrasound images and videoclips using pattern recognition in 73 cases revealed that all tumors had irregular margins and inhomogeneous echogenicity of the solid components. Forty-seven of 73 (64.4%) masses appeared as a solid tumor with cystic areas. Cooked appearance of the solid tissue was identified in 28/73 (38.4%) tumors. No pathognomonic ultrasound sign of ovarian carcinosarcoma was found. CONCLUSIONS Ovarian carcinosarcomas are usually diagnosed in postmenopausal women and at an advanced stage. The most common ultrasound appearance is a large solid tumor with irregular margins, inhomogeneous echogenicity of the solid tissue and cystic areas. The second most common pattern is a large multilocular-solid mass with inhomogeneous echogenicity of the solid tissue. © 2021 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Abstract
Whole-body computed tomography (WBCT) serves as the first-line imaging modality for breast cancer follow-up. To investigate the imaging characteristics and diagnostic accuracy of WBCT for incidental ovarian tumors in patients with prior breast cancer, we retrospectively reviewed a consecutive cohort of 13,845 patients with breast cancer, of whom 149 had pathologically-proven ovarian lesions. We excluded patients with ovarian diagnosis before breast cancer, CT scan not including ovary, CT-pathology interval >30 days, and severe CT artifact. Among our 60 breast cancer patients (median age, 46 years) with pathologically proven ovarian lesions, 49 patients had benign diseases, seven had primary ovarian cancer and four had ovarian metastasis from breast cancer. The histologic types of breast cancer with ovarian metastases included invasive ductal carcinoma, lobular carcinoma and angiosarcoma. Cystic ovarian lesions identified on WBCT during the breast cancer follow-up are more likely to be benign, while solid-cystic lesions are likely to be primary ovarian cancers, and solid lesions may indicate ovarian metastasis. The diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve of WBCT were 98.3%, 100.0%, 98.0%, and 0.99 (malignant vs. benign); 90.0%, 100.0%, 85.7%, and 0.93 (metastasis vs. primary ovarian cancer), respectively. The only false positive solid lesion was a Sertoli–Leydig tumor. In conclusion, WBCT may help diagnose incidental ovarian tumors in patients with prior breast cancers and guide disease management.

Abstract
The European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG), the International Ovarian Tumour Analysis (IOTA) group and the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE) jointly developed clinically relevant and evidence-based statements on the preoperative diagnosis of ovarian tumors, including imaging techniques, biomarkers and prediction models. ESGO/ISUOG/IOTA/ESGE nominated a multidisciplinary international group, including expert practising clinicians and researchers who have demonstrated leadership and expertise in the preoperative diagnosis of ovarian tumors and management of patients with ovarian cancer (19 experts across Europe). A patient representative was also included in the group. To ensure that the statements were evidence-based, the current literature was reviewed and critically appraised. Preliminary statements were drafted based on the review of the relevant literature. During a conference call, the whole group discussed each preliminary statement and a first round of voting was carried out. Statements were removed when consensus among group members was not obtained. The voters had the opportunity to provide comments/suggestions with their votes. The statements were then revised accordingly. Another round of voting was carried out according to the same rules to allow the whole group to evaluate the revised version of the statements. The group achieved consensus on 18 statements. This Consensus Statement presents these ESGO/ISUOG/IOTA/ESGE statements on the preoperative diagnosis of ovarian tumors and the assessment of carcinomatosis, together with a summary of the evidence supporting each statement.

The current review sums up the literature on the diagnostic performance of models to predict malignancy in adnexal masses and the ability of ultrasound to make a specific diagnosis in adnexal masses. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To describe the clinical and ultrasound characteristics of three types of rare malignant ovarian germ cell tumor: embryonal carcinoma, non-gestational choriocarcinoma and malignant mixed germ cell tumor. METHODS This was a retrospective multicenter study. From the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) database, we identified patients with a histological diagnosis of ovarian embryonal carcinoma, non-gestational choriocarcinoma or malignant mixed germ cell tumor, who had undergone preoperative ultrasound examination by an experienced ultrasound examiner between 2000 and 2020. Additional patients with the same histology were identified from the databases of the departments of gynecological oncology in the participating centers. All tumors were described using IOTA terminology. Three examiners reviewed all available ultrasound images and described them using pattern recognition. RESULTS One patient with embryonal carcinoma, five patients with non-gestational ovarian choriocarcinoma and seven patients with ovarian malignant mixed germ cell tumor (six primary tumors and one recurrence) were identified. Seven patients were included in the IOTA studies and six patients were examined outside of the IOTA studies. The median age at diagnosis was 26 (range, 14-77) years. Beta-human chorionic gonadotropin levels were highest in non-gestational choriocarcinomas and alpha-fetoprotein levels were highest in malignant mixed germ cell tumors. Most tumors were International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Stage I (9/12 (75.0%)). All tumors were unilateral, and the median largest diameter was 129 (range, 38-216) mm. Of the tumors, 11/13 (84.6%) were solid and 2/13 (15.4%) were multilocular-solid; 9/13 (69.2%) manifested abundant vascularization on color Doppler examination. Using pattern recognition, the typical ultrasound appearance was a large solid tumor with inhomogeneous echogenicity of the solid tissue and often dispersed cysts which, in most cases, were small and irregular. Some tumors had smooth contours while others had irregular contours. CONCLUSIONS A unilateral, large solid tumor with inhomogeneous echogenicity of the solid tissue and with dispersed small cystic areas in a young woman should raise the suspicion of a rare malignant germ cell tumor. This suspicion can guide the clinician to test tumor markers specific for malignant germ cell tumors. © 2020 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the safety, adequacy and accuracy of transvaginal ultrasound-guided tru-cut biopsy of pelvic masses. METHODS We performed a retrospective analysis of consecutive women who underwent transvaginal ultrasound-guided tru-cut biopsies between June 2014 and October 2018 at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University Hospitals Leuven. Main indications for tru-cut biopsy were tissue collection for diagnosis of pelvic tumors in cases of suspected disseminated disease or recurrence, or tissue banking for research purposes. Data about adverse events occurring within 2 weeks of the procedure (including bleeding, blood transfusion, hospital admission, urgent surgery, pelvic infection or death) were extracted from electronic medical records. Tissue samples were recorded as adequate if tumor identification and immunohistochemistry were possible. Accuracy was defined in patients who underwent surgery as the agreement between histology after tru-cut biopsy and final histology. RESULTS 176 tru-cut biopsies were performed in 155 patients. Procedure related events were limited to moderate blood loss (<50 ml) without the need for treatment in 4.5%. There were no major complications. Biopsies were deemed adequate for histological evaluation in 84.3% of biopsies performed for diagnostic purposes and in 71.4% of research cases in whom a single tissue cylinder was available for diagnosis. When at least two cylinders were available, diagnostic adequacy increased to >95%. Comparing final histology, the diagnostic accuracy of the tru-cut biopsies was 97.2%. CONCLUSION Transvaginal tru-cut biopsy for diagnosis of pelvic masses is a safe procedure. To allow an adequate and accurate diagnosis, we advise taking at least 2 core biopsies.

Abstract
A 47-year-old woman was admitted to our clinic for intensive pain in the left flank region. The transvaginal ultrasound showed a left adnexal solid mass with ascites. She had undergone surgical removal of skin melanoma in 2008, but in September 2019, intracardiac metastasis resulting from it had been discovered. CT performed in March 2020 had been negative for other metastases. A full abdomen ultrasound was not performed. During the night, the patient began to show signs and symptoms of hypovolaemic shock. The patient was urgently transferred to the operating room for a video laparoscopy. A vast left retroperitoneal haematoma was diagnosed along with voluminous enlargement of the left ovary. We proceeded with a left adnexectomy and blood transfusion. Subsequent contrast-enhanced CT revealed a left subcapsular, perirenal haematoma and a voluminous retroperitoneal haematoma. Kidney metastasis was also seen. The final histological diagnosis was metastatic amelanotic malignant melanoma of the ovary.

Abstract
Complex pelvic lesions can originate from various anatomical structures in the pelvis and pose a diagnostic dilemma due to a wide range of possible diagnoses. Accurate characterisation of these lesions would often require an algorithmic approach, which incorporates clinical findings, sequential use of multiple imaging modalities and a multiparametric approach. This approach usually aims at identifying key imaging features, which aid in anatomical localisation, morphology and tissue characterisation. There have been various attempts to standardise the lexicon used for describing adnexal masses in female patients; stratify their risk of cancer and suggest appropriate next steps in the management pathway. Through this review, we extend this approach to complex pelvic masses in female pelvis in general and will focus on optimal use of different imaging modalities to arrive at definitive diagnosis or meaningful differential diagnosis. We will also discuss potential pitfalls of imaging diagnosis and common mimics.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this case-based article is to discuss the pathophysiologic findings, common pathways of spread, and imaging features associated with Krukenberg tumors. CONCLUSION. Not all ovarian metastases are Krukenberg tumors. Krukenberg tumors are the most common subtype of ovarian metastases, and they are histologically characterized by signet ring cell mucinous features. Common primary tumor sites include the stomach or colon. Although often difficult, distinguishing between Krukenberg tumors and primary ovarian malignancy on imaging is important because of management and prognostic implications.

Abstract
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) accounts for 2-3% of all adult malignancies. Clear-cell type RCC is the most common type, accounting for approximately 75% of all renal cancer cases. The most common sites of metastasis include the lung, bone, and liver. Ovarian metastasis of RCC is an exceptionally rare occurrence with only 41 cases reported in the literature with only 11 of these cases involving the bilateral ovaries. Here we present a case of clear-cell RCC arising from the left kidney with metastatic involvement of bilateral ovaries in a 48-year-old woman.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to describe the clinical and sonographic features of ovarian metastases originating from colorectal cancer (mCRC), and to discriminate mCRC from primary ovarian cancer (OC). We conducted a multi-institutional, retrospective study of consecutive patients with ovarian mCRC who had undergone ultrasound examination using the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) terminology, with the addition of evaluating signs of necrosis and abdominal staging. A control group included patients with primary OC. Clinical and ultrasound data, subjective assessment (SA), and an assessment of different neoplasias in the adnexa (ADNEX) model were evaluated. Fisher's exact and Student's t-tests, the area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve (AUC), and classification and regression trees (CART) were used to conduct statistical analyses. In total, 162 patients (81 with OC and 81 with ovarian mCRC) were included. None of the patients with OC had undergone chemotherapy for CRC in the past, compared with 40% of patients with ovarian mCRC (p < 0.001). The ovarian mCRC tumors were significantly larger, a necrosis sign was more frequently present, and tumors had an irregular wall or were fixed less frequently; ascites, omental cake, and carcinomatosis were less common in mCRC than in primary OC. In a subgroup of patients with ovarian mCRC who had not undergone treatment for CRC in anamnesis, tumors were larger, and had fewer papillations and more locules compared with primary OC. The highest AUC for the discrimination of ovarian mCRC from primary OC was for CART (0.768), followed by SA (0.735) and ADNEX calculated with CA-125 (0.680). Ovarian mCRC and primary OC can be distinguished based on patient anamnesis, ultrasound pattern recognition, a proposed decision tree model, and an ADNEX model with CA-125 levels.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The number of women diagnosed with ovarian masses during pregnancy has increased in recent years and the management of these women can be controversial. We aim to describe ultrasound characteristics and clinical outcomes of patients with malignant ovarian masses diagnosed during pregnancy. METHODS Patients with a histological diagnosis of malignant ovarian mass detected during pregnancy who underwent pre-operative ultrasound by experienced ultrasound examiners between December 2000 and November 2017 were included in this retrospective observational study. Ultrasound characteristics of the masses were described using International Ovarian Tumor Analysis terminology. Patients with ovarian masses but without histopathological reports were excluded. Results are presented as absolute frequency (percentage) for nominal variables and as median (range) for continuous variables. Results A total of 22 patients were included in the analysis. The median age was 32.5 (range 23-42) years and median gestational age at diagnosis was 13.5 (range 4-30) weeks. Eight (36.4%) patients had a serous/endocervical-type borderline tumor, seven (31.8%) patients had a primary epithelial ovarian carcinoma, five (22.8%) patients had a metastatic tumor to the ovary, and two (9%) patients had a mucinous borderline tumor. At ultrasound, mucinous borderline tumors were multilocular (1/2, 50%) or multilocular-solid (1/2, 50%) lesions. Serous/endocervical-type borderline tumors were unilocular-solid (3/8, 37.5%) or multilocular-solid (5/8, 62.5%) masses and all had papillary projections. Most invasive epithelial ovarian cancers were multilocular-solid masses (5/7, 71.4%). All metastatic tumors appeared as solid masses. No patients with borderline tumors had a cesarean section due to disease, whereas most patients with epithelial ovarian carcinomas (4/7, 57.2%) and with ovarian metastases (3/5, 60%) had a cesarean section due to disease. No neonatal complication was reported for patients with borderline tumors or epithelial ovarian carcinomas, whereas two of three newborns of patients with metastatic tumor died of the disease. CONCLUSION At ultrasound, morphological features of malignant ovarian masses detected during pregnancy are similar to those described in non-pregnant patients. The likelihood of undergoing cesarean section increases with malignant disease in the ovary.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare the ultrasound characteristics of patients with synchronous primary cancers of the endometrium and ovary vs those of patients with endometrial cancer with ovarian metastasis. METHODS This was a single-institution retrospective observational study of patients with a histological diagnosis of endometrial cancer and an ovarian malignant mass, who had undergone preoperative ultrasound examination at our unit. Based on the histological diagnosis, patients were classified into two groups: those with synchronous primary cancers of the endometrium and ovary (synchronous group) and patients with endometrial cancer with ovarian metastasis (metastasis group). We compared the ultrasound features of ovarian malignant masses and of endometrial cancers between the two groups. Student's t-test, Mann-Whitney U-test, χ2 test or Fisher's exact test were used for comparisons of variables between the two histological groups, as appropriate. RESULTS We identified 131 patients, of whom 51 had synchronous primary cancers of the endometrium and ovary (synchronous group) and 80 had endometrial cancer with ovarian metastasis (metastasis group). On ultrasound examination, ovarian masses in the synchronous group were more often multilocular-solid and less often bilateral than those in the metastasis group. With respect to the ultrasound features of the endometrial lesions, the median largest diameter was 29 (range, 11-118) mm in the synchronous group in comparison with 51.5 (range, 6-150) mm in the metastasis group (P < 0.0001). Endometrial lesions in the synchronous group presented more often with no myometrial infiltration and less often with a multiple-vessel pattern on color Doppler compared with the endometrial lesions in the metastasis group. CONCLUSIONS Synchronous primary cancers of the endometrium and ovary have significantly different sonomorphological patterns compared with endometrial cancer with ovarian metastasis. Ovarian masses in women with synchronous primary cancers of the endometrium and ovary appeared as unilateral multilocular-solid or solid masses, whereas ovarian masses in women with endometrial cancer with ovarian metastasis were mostly bilateral solid masses. The different sonomorphology of these two cancers may facilitate their preoperative identification, helping the surgeon to determine optimum management for the patient. Copyright © 2019 ISUOG. Abstract
RATIONALE The biological behavior and clinical features of ovarian metastasis from breast cancer remain unclear; diagnosis and treatment of this condition are challenging. PATIENT CONCERNS We reported three cases of ovarian metastasis from breast cancer in Chinese women aged 44, 46, and 30 years. The prognosis was different in all three patients; however, no symptoms of ovarian metastasis were observed. DIAGNOSIS All three premenopausal patients were diagnosed with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer and two of them had axillary lymph node metastasis. All three women had multiple extra-ovarian metastases when ovarian metastasis was detected. INTERVENTIONS All patients received systemic antitumor therapy and underwent bilateral ovariectomy. OUTCOMES Patient 1 had stable bone metastasis; patient 2 had stable lung metastasis and died of heart disease, and patient 3 had multiple brain metastases, which suggested poor outcomes. LESSONS It is important to screen for ovarian metastasis from breast cancer when evaluating suspicious ovarian masses detected via transvaginal ultrasound in patients with a breast cancer history. Therefore, we recommend simple laparoscopic bilateral oophorectomy not only for pathological diagnosis but also for metastatic tumor removal and therapeutic castration. In such cases, systemic therapy is essential because ovarian metastasis is often a component of systemic metastatic disease.

Abstract
True primary mucinous ovarian carcinomas are rarer than originally thought and their clinical behavior and treatment response are different than more common epithelial ovarian carcinomas. Secondary ovarian neoplasms often mimic the clinical and histological features of mucinous ovarian cancer making their diagnosis, and therefore treatment, more difficult. Misdiagnosis can have a significant impact on both treatment and prognosis. The majority of these secondary ovarian neoplasms arise from the gastrointestinal tract, with mucinous histology often of pancreaticobiliary origin. Our study objective was to review current evidence distinguishing pancreaticobiliary ovarian metastasis from primary mucinous ovarian carcinoma. We utilized a PubMed search using MeSH terms and selected articles were reviewed, synthesized and summarized. Thirty-nine articles were included in the review. The clinical, gross, histological and immunohistochemical features distinguishing primary mucinous ovarian carcinomas from pancreaticobiliary ovarian metastasis were identified. Compared to primary mucinous ovarian carcinoma, metastatic pancreaticobiliary tumors are more often bilateral, <10 cm, have irregular external surface and surface implants, display an infiltrative pattern of invasion and stain for MUC1 and CK17. Primary ovarian mucinous tumors rarely (<3%) have signet ring cells or involvement of the hilum. Metastatic mucinous tumors mimic their primary mucinous ovarian counterparts and their clinical and histopathological features overlap in many ways. However, these metastatic tumors have features that can help differentiate them from primary mucinous carcinoma. With a high index of suspicion and knowledge of the reviewed features, distinguishing these tumors will continue to become easier. Primary ovarian and metastatic pancreaticobiliary tumors present similarly. Histologic findings can differentiate primary from metastatic ovarian tumors. Bilaterality, size, surface appearance can differentiate primary versus metastatic.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate ultrasound features and the best cut-off value of the cancer antigen 125/carcinoembryonic antigen (CA125/CEA) ratio to discriminate ovarian metastases from benign and primary malignant ovarian neoplasms in two selected groups of morphological ovarian masses, namely multilocular masses with five or more locules and multilocular-solid masses. METHODS Patients with multilocular (five or more locules) or multilocular-solid ovarian masses, operated on within 3 months of ultrasound examination, and with tumor markers (CEA and CA125) available at diagnosis, were identified retrospectively from three ultrasound centers. The masses were described using the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) terminology. Ultrasound and clinical characteristics were compared between those with an ovarian neoplasm (including benign and primary malignant neoplasms) and those with an ovarian metastasis. Receiver-operating characteristics curve (ROC) analysis was used to evaluate the ability of CA125, CEA and CA125/CEA to differentiate between ovarian neoplasms and ovarian metastases, and their predictive performance was assessed. RESULTS In total, 350 (88.4%) patients with an ovarian neoplasm (including 99 benign, 43 borderline and 197 primary epithelial ovarian carcinomas, seven malignant rare tumors and four other types of invasive ovarian tumor) and 46 (11.6%) patients with an ovarian metastasis were analyzed. On ultrasound examination, ovarian neoplasms were smaller than ovarian metastases (median largest diameter, 97 (range, 20-387) mm vs 146 (range, 43-259) mm, respectively; P < 0.0001) and presented with a lower number of cysts with > 10 locules (18.9% vs 54.3%; P < 0.0001). ROC curve analysis showed that the best cut-off value of CEA for distinguishing between ovarian neoplasms and ovarian metastases was 2.33 ng/mL. The predictive performance of this CEA cut-off value was: area under the curve (AUC), 0.791 (95% CI, 0.711-0.870); accuracy, 73.7%; sensitivity, 73.1%; specificity, 78.3%; positive predictive value (PPV), 96.2%; and negative predictive value (NPV), 27.7%. The best cut-off value of CA125/CEA for distinguishing between ovarian neoplasms and ovarian metastases was 11.92. The predictive performance of this CA125/CEA cut-off value was: AUC, 0.758 (95% CI, 0.683-0.833); accuracy, 79.8%; sensitivity, 82.3%; specificity, 60.9%; PPV, 94.1%; and NPV, 31.1%. CONCLUSIONS CA125/CEA ratio and CEA alone did not show any significant difference in their ability to distinguish between ovarian neoplasms (including benign and malignant) and ovarian metastases in masses with multilocular and those with multilocular-solid morphology. Therefore, in this morphological subgroup of ovarian masses, CEA alone is sufficient to differentiate between ovarian neoplasms and ovarian metastases. Copyright © 2018 ISUOG. Abstract
Krukenberg tumors described by Friedrich Ernst Krukenberg are still fascinating for their mysterious origin. It is known to be a rare entity and commonly originates from adenocarcinoma of stomach. We present three interestingly rare cases of this entity, revealed by 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (F-18 FDG-PET/CT) scan and discuss how F-18 FDG-PET/CT can prognosticate, alter the course of treatment in such patients. Ovarian metastatic deposits were detected in patients with renal cell, duodenal, and gall bladder carcinoma. Three visits were possible in patient with duodenal cancer (favorable response to therapy), two visits in renal cell cancer (progressive disease pattern) and only single visit for gall bladder cancer. Potentials of F-18 FDG-PET/CT scan for Krukenberg disease is still in exploratory phase, but it's applications in diagnosis, disease monitoring, therapeutic response monitoring, and prognosticating are unparalleled with other imaging modalities.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To describe the clinical and ultrasound characteristics of ovarian pure clear cell carcinoma. METHODS This was a retrospective study involving data from 11 ultrasound centers. From the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) database, 105 patients who had undergone preoperative ultrasound examination by an experienced ultrasound examiner between 1999 and 2016 were identified with a histologically confirmed pure clear cell carcinoma of the ovary. An additional 47 patients diagnosed with pure clear cell carcinoma between 1999 and 2016 and with available complete preoperative ultrasound reports were identified retrospectively from the databases of the departments of gynecological oncology in the participating centers. The ultrasound images of all tumors were described using IOTA terminology. Clinical and ultrasound characteristics were analyzed for the whole group, and separately, for patients with and those without histologically confirmed endometriosis, and for patients with evidence of tumor developing from endometriosis. RESULTS Median age of the 152 patients was 53.5 (range, 28-92) years and 92/152 (60.5%) tumors were FIGO Stage I. Most tumors (128/152, 84.2%) were unilateral. On ultrasound examination, all tumors contained solid components and 36/152 (23.7%) were completely solid masses. The median largest diameter of the lesion was 117 (range, 25-310) mm. Papillary projections were present in 58/152 (38.2%) masses and, in most of these (51/56, 91.1%), vascularized papillary projections were seen. Information regarding the presence, site and type of pelvic endometriosis at histology was available for 130/152 patients. Endometriosis was noted in 54 (41.5%) of these. In 24/130 (18.6%) patients, the tumor was judged to have developed from endometriosis. Patients with, compared to those without, evidence of tumor developing from endometriosis were younger (median 47.5 vs 55.0 years, respectively), and ground-glass echogenicity of cyst fluid was more common in pure clear cell cancers developing from endometriosis (10/20 vs 13/79 (50.0% vs 16.5%), respectively). CONCLUSIONS Ovarian pure clear cell carcinoma is usually diagnosed at an early stage and typically appears as a large unilateral mass with solid components. Patients with clear cell carcinoma developing from endometriosis are younger than other patients with clear cell carcinoma, and clear cell cancers developing from endometriosis more often manifest ground-glass echogenicity of cyst fluid. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To describe the clinical and ultrasound characteristics of ovarian pure endometrioid carcinomas. METHODS This was a retrospective multicenter study of patients with a histological diagnosis of pure endometrioid carcinoma. We identified 161 patients from the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) database who had undergone preoperative ultrasound examination by an experienced ultrasound examiner between 1999 and 2016, and another 78 patients from the databases of the departments of gynecological oncology in the participating centers. All tumors were described using IOTA terminology. In addition, one author reviewed all available ultrasound images and described them using pattern recognition. RESULTS Median age of the 239 patients was 55 years (range, 19-88 years). On ultrasound examination, two (0.8%) endometrioid carcinomas were described as unilocular cysts, three (1.3%) as multilocular cysts, 37 (15.5%) as unilocular-solid cysts, 115 (48.1%) as multilocular-solid cysts and 82 (34.3%) as solid masses. Median largest tumor diameter was 102.5 mm (range, 20-300 mm) and median largest diameter of the largest solid component was 63 mm (range, 9-300 mm). Papillary projections were present in 70 (29.3%) masses. Most cancers (188 (78.7%)) were unilateral. In 49 (20.5%) cases, the cancer was judged by the pathologist to develop from endometriosis. These cancers, compared with those without evidence of tumor developing from endometriosis, more often manifested papillary projections on ultrasound (46.9% (23/49) vs 24.7% (47/190)), were less often bilateral (8.2% (4/49) vs 24.7% (47/190)) and less often associated with ascites (6.1% (3/49) vs 28.4% (54/190)) and fluid in the pouch of Douglas (24.5% (12/49) vs 48.9% (93/190)). Retrospective analysis of available ultrasound images using pattern recognition revealed that many tumors without evidence of tumor developing from endometriosis (36.3% (41/113)) had a large central solid component entrapped within locules, giving the tumor a cockade-like appearance. CONCLUSIONS Endometrioid cancers are usually large, unilateral, multilocular-solid or solid tumors. The ultrasound characteristics of endometrioid carcinomas developing from endometriosis differ from those without evidence of tumor developing from endometriosis, the former being more often unilateral cysts with papillary projections and no ascites. Abstract
BACKGROUND Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract and liver and peritoneum are the main sites of recurrence. Ovarian metastases from GIST are very rare. CASE PRESENTATION A 50 years-old woman was found to have a pelvic mass on transvaginal ultrasound (TV-US) and computed tomography (CT)-scan, considered as a right ovarian mass. The patient underwent surgical abdominal exploration that showed an ileal mass, a normal right ovary and an irregular and vascularized surface of the left ovary. A segmental ileal resection and an ileal anastomosis were performed. Frozen section showed a GIST and surgery was completed with hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, pelvic peritonectomy, peritoneal washing and Burch procedure. The histological examination confirmed an ileal GIST with ovarian metastases, harboring in both sites of disease a KIT exon 11 deletion. CONCLUSIONS Ovarian localizations, as far as rare, can be a clinical finding in case of ileal GIST patients, and both gynecologists, pathologists and medical oncologists should be able to recognize them.

Abstract
Pelvic ultrasound examination is the primary imaging modality for evaluating a wide range of female pelvic symptomatology, and is often the first imaging test to detect a gynecologic malignancy. Ultrasound imaging is particularly useful for evaluating the thickness and appearance of the endometrium in patients with abnormal bleeding, and in detecting and characterizing ovarian lesions. This article reviews the ultrasound appearance of gynecologic neoplasms grouped by anatomic site of origin, the ultrasound appearance of select benign pelvic pathology not to be misinterpreted as malignancy, as well as available ultrasound imaging-based guidelines for managing potential gynecologic neoplasms.

Abstract
The aim of this narrative review was to summarize the current evidence on Krukenberg tumors (KTs), addressing what is known on their natural history and their impact on the clinical prognosis and which are the most appropriate management strategies to treat this condition. A literature search was conducted on Pubmed up to December 2016, selecting the most relevant studies on the basis of the scope of the review. KTs are ovarian metastases from primary signet-ring cell carcinomas., characterized by the presence of a sarcoma-like stroma. They have three possible routes of diffusion (lymphatic, peritoneal and hematogenous), but the preferential one is still unclear. Prognosis is dismal. When KTs are encountered in the clinical practice, it is reasonable to offer surgical resection to young, fit patients with limited disease. Palliative surgery should be considered for all patients with symptomatic disease. Further studies should clarify the clinicopathologic characteristics of KTs, their main routes of diffusion, and the possible role of prophylactic oophorectomy, lymphadenectomy and intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Molecular and transitional research should parallel the clinical one to help understanding the natural history of signet-ring cell carcinomas.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the performance of the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) ADNEX model in the preoperative discrimination between benign ovarian (including tubal and para-ovarian) tumors, borderline ovarian tumors (BOT), Stage I ovarian cancer (OC), Stage II-IV OC and ovarian metastasis in a gynecological oncology center in Brazil. METHODS This was a diagnostic accuracy study including 131 women with an adnexal mass invited to participate between February 2014 and November 2015. Before surgery, pelvic ultrasound examination was performed and serum levels of tumor marker CA 125 were measured in all women. Adnexal masses were classified according to the IOTA ADNEX model. Histopathological diagnosis was the gold standard. Receiver-operating characteristics (ROC) curve analysis was used to determine the diagnostic accuracy of the model to classify tumors into different histological types. RESULTS Of 131 women, 63 (48.1%) had a benign ovarian tumor, 16 (12.2%) had a BOT, 17 (13.0%) had Stage I OC, 24 (18.3%) had Stage II-IV OC and 11 (8.4%) had ovarian metastasis. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.92 (95% CI, 0.88-0.97) for the basic discrimination between benign vs malignant tumors using the IOTA ADNEX model. Performance was high for the discrimination between benign vs Stage II-IV OC, BOT vs Stage II-IV OC and Stage I OC vs Stage II-IV OC, with AUCs of 0.99, 0.97 and 0.94, respectively. Performance was poor for the differentiation between BOT vs Stage I OC and between Stage I OC vs ovarian metastasis with AUCs of 0.64. CONCLUSION The majority of adnexal masses in our study were classified correctly using the IOTA ADNEX model. On the basis of our findings, we would expect the model to aid in the management of women with an adnexal mass presenting to a gynecological oncology center. Copyright © 2016 ISUOG. Abstract
Krukenberg tumours are rare metastatic tumours of the ovaries characterized by the presence of mucin-producing neoplastic Signet Ring Cell Carcinoma (SRCC). At first glance, this tumour may be confused with a primary ovarian tumour. Surgery and chemotherapy combination have led to improvement in prognosis, but it still remains severe. We report the case of a 60-year-old woman with a Krukenberg tumour rising from a low differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma. The patient was clinically stable for 26 months after surgery until she experienced a prompt decline and died of cerebral haemorrhage within two weeks. The aim of this article was to give an overview of the Krukenberg tumour starting from our case report and comparing it with clinicopathological characteristics of this pathology derived from a review of recent literature.
