Abstract
The selectivity coefficients reported for perchlorate of the high selectivity on anion exchange resins (AXRs) have not been consistent with one another. Possible errors by the unique use of four parameters (concentrations of two anions in two phases) were experimentally verified. The concentrations of perchlorate buffered at low levels (10-6 - 10-4 mol L-1) by two forms of AXRs were successfully determined by potentiometry with a perchlorate ion-selective electrode. This gave reasonable coefficients. The coefficients for perchlorate on several AXRs were independent of the relative exchange (RE), in contrast to the previous reports. On the other hand, the coefficients for fluoride of the low selectivity that were examined for comparison decreased with an increase in RE, and the dependency was more remarkable for the resins of large exchange capacity.

Abstract
The specific interaction of N-tetradecylisoquinolinium (C(14)Iq+) with Cl- and Br- has been detected in the voltammetry of ion transfer and electrocapillarity at the interface between an aqueous solution (W) and a room-temperature ionic liquid (RTIL), N-tetradecylisoquinolinium bis(pentafluoroethylsulfonyl)imide ([C(14)Iq+][C(2)C(2)N-]). This specific interaction also makes the transfer of Cl- and Br- into [C(14)Iq+][C(2)C(2)N-] energetically more favorable in comparison with that of F- and SO(4)(2-). The width of the polarized potential window in ion-transfer voltammetry at the [C(14)Iq+][C(2)C(2)N-]|W interface is significantly narrower because of the transfer of anions from W to RTIL. The degree of affinity of the anion with C(14)Iq+ agrees with the Hofmeister series. Such an ion-pair formation of anions in W with cations in the RTIL is much weaker when the cation constituting the RTIL is a symmetric tetraheptylammonium ion.

Abstract
The lower detection limit and the selectivity behavior of anion-selective electrodes (ISEs) are improved by using optimized inner solutions and membrane compositions. With a membrane based on the recently described ionophore [9]mercuracarborand-3, a detection limit of 2 x 10(-9) M has been achieved for iodide. Nevertheless, the improvements are less pronounced than in the case of cation ISEs. This is mainly due to the fact that so far no anion ISE is known with the extremely high selectivities of cation ISEs. If the membrane does not contain an ionophore, leaching of the ion exchanger from the membrane into the sample is also a relevant limiting factor except for ion exchangers of very high lipophilicity.

Abstract
Progress of modern analytical chemistry is closely related with advancement in other fields such as organic chemistry and biochemistry. Successful solution of current scientific problems is inconceivable without close cooperation of different chemical disciplines. As an example of such hot and very intricate theme research in the field of molecular recognition of biologically active compounds can serve, where numerous methods of analytical chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry can suitably be utilized, elaborated and brought into consonance. This multidisciplinary overlap logically leads to the advent of new scientific fields with their own tools, methodologies and subjects of exploration - bioanalytical chemistry and nanotechnology. This review covers different aspects of analytical application of oligopyrrole macrocycles (mainly porphyrins and sapphyrins). These compounds are widely used in analytical chemistry due to their outstanding optical properties. In our contribution oligopyrrole macrocycles are considered as signaling and structural parts of chemical receptors and selectors in various applications. Introduction of different moieties into meso-position of macrocyclic rings allows to obtain e.g., sterically well-organized receptors for recognition of biologically important analytes, new chromatographic materials, and powerful tools in electrochemical research. Finally, future trends in the field are outlined briefly.
