Literature on intraoperative nonsteroidal epidural analgesia as a bolus in decompressive lumbar surgery was reviewed.
Primary outcome measures were reduction in postoperative pain, analgesics consumption and duration of hospital stay.
The extracted data was heterogenic and challenging to compare.
Intraoperative nonsteroidal epidural analgesia is effective in reducing postoperative pain and analgesics consumption.
More data from well-powered randomized placebo-controlled trials is required to draw indisputable conclusions.
