Geschlechtersensible Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung für Kinder: Chancen und Herausforderungen bei der Umsetzbarkeit

Hintergrund

Bei Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung sollten Geschlechterunterschiede bereits im Kindesalter berücksichtigt werden. Allerdings fehlen hierzu sowohl theoretisch fundierte Konzepte als auch insbesondere praktische Handlungsempfehlungen.

Ziel der Arbeit

Daher sollte ermittelt werden, was Wissenschaftler/innen und Praktiker/innen empfehlen, um Anbietende bei der Entwicklung geschlechtersensibler präventiver und gesundheitsförderlicher Maßnahmen für Kinder zu unterstützen.

Material und Methoden

Es wurde ein mehrschrittiges qualitatives Vorgehen gewählt, um die Erfahrungs- und Wissensbestände aus Wissenschaft und Praxis zu erfassen. Das Vorgehen bestand aus einem Expertenworkshop mit Wissenschaftler/innen (n = 12) angelehnt an die nominale Gruppentechnik, sechs Fokusgruppen mit Fachkräften (n = 7; 6; 8; 6; 8; 4) und einem abschließenden Online-Workshop mit beiden Gruppen (n = 12).

Ergebnisse

Die resultierenden Handlungsempfehlungen beinhalten die folgenden Punkte: Geschlecht und Lebenslage adressieren, Geschlechterrollen und Lebensweisen kennenlernen, Partizipation und Qualitätssicherung, Dokumentation von Praxisprojekten, Diversität in professionellen Teams, Geschlechtersensibilität in Qualifikationsmaßnahmen, Austausch und Vernetzung.

Schlussfolgerung

Bei der Umsetzung von geschlechtersensibler Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung bei Kindern sind sowohl politische als auch gesellschaftliche und individuelle Ebenen zu berücksichtigen. Während das Thema in der praktischen Arbeit schon Beachtung findet und umgesetzt wird, besteht Forschungsbedarf insbesondere hinsichtlich konzeptioneller Entwicklung und Evaluationen.

Gender-Specific Aspects of Health Literacy: Perceptions of Interactions with Migrants among Health Care Providers in Germany

Health literacy can be described as a complex process shaped by individual resources and preferences and by the nature and quality of health-related information people encounter. The main objective of this study was to explore the views of health care professionals on how gender as a personal determinant of health literacy affected their interactions with migrant patients. The interrelated challenges, needs and applied solutions were analyzed from a health literacy perspective. Five focus group discussions with health care professionals working with migrants (n = 31) were conducted in Cologne, Germany, audio recorded, transcribed and analyzed by qualitative content analysis. Gender-specific aspects, such as the gender of health care providers as a factor, were portrayed above all in relation to patients from Turkey and Arab countries regarding access to and understanding of health-related information. These statements exclusively represent the possibly biased or assumptions-based perspectives of health care professionals on their migrant patients and were made against the background of a systemic lack of time and the challenge of overcoming language barriers. Especially in this context, reducing time pressure and improving communication in the treatment setting may be to the benefit of all actors within healthcare.

Legacy of Polio-Use of India's Social Mobilization Network for Strengthening of the Universal Immunization Program in India

The Social Mobilization Network (SMNet) has been lauded as one of the most successsful community engagement strategies in public health for its role in polio elimination in India. The UNICEF-managed SMNet was created as a strategy to eradicate polio by engaging >7000 frontline social mobilizers to advocate for vaccination in some of the most underserved, marginalized, and at-risk communities in India. This network focused initially on generating demand for polio vaccination but later expanded its messaging to promote routine immunization and other health and sanitation interventions related to maternal and children’s health. As an impact of the network’s interventions, in collaboration with other eradication efforts, these high-risk pockets witnessed an increase in full routine immunization coverage. The experience of the SMNet offers lessons for health-system strengthening for social mobilization and promoting positive health behaviors for other priority health programs like the Universal Immunization Program.

[Information on early detection of colorectal cancer: development of an information module for the women's health portal of the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA)]

Colorectal cancer is the second most prevalent cancer in Germany. The governmental program for early detection of colorectal cancer intends to increase the chances of recovery by identifying colorectal cancer in an early, more treatable stage. Citizens need quality-assured, balanced, and target-group-specific information to be able to make an informed decision. On the basis of the current state of research, of extensive studies, and of expert and user interviews, the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA) developed an information module on"early detection of colorectal cancer" for the women's health portal of the BZgA. The information module contains information on colorectal cancer, on the governmental program for early detection, as well as on the program's benefits and risks. The information offered is intended to be up to date and is approved by experts. The BZgA approves the quality of this information using methods of process and outcome evaluation.

Cannabisbezogene Störungen bei Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen

Umfang des Problems: Die Zahlen für Lebenszeitprävalenzen von Cannabis sowie regelmäßige Konsummuster unter Jugendlichen zeigen nach starkem Anstieg der Vorjahre in den Jahren 2007 und 2008 erstmals einen leichten Rückgang. Die Behandlungsnachfrage scheint dagegen weiter anzusteigen, die Prävalenzen cannabisbezogener Störungen bei Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen sind bereits sehr hoch. Ätiologie: Individuelle Vulnerabilität und Risikofaktoren prägen in einer Interaktion von psychosozialen, substanzbezogenen, intra- und interpersonellen (familiären) Variablen die Initiation sowie die Progression zu regelmäßigem Konsum, zum Teil resultieren cannabisbezogene Störungen. Behandlung: Die Behandlung dieser Klientel erfordert ein hohes Maß an störungs- und altersspezifischer Orientierung. Besondere psychosoziale und suchtmedizinische Umstände sowie die Auswirkungen des Cannabiskonsums müssen ebenso berücksichtigt werden wie die entwicklungspsychologischen und –psychopathologischen Besonderheiten des Kindes-, Jugend- und jungen Erwachsenenalters. Aufgrund oft gering ausgeprägter Eigenmotivation zu Verhaltensänderung und Behandlung kommt motivationsfördernden Ansätzen eine wichtige Bedeutung zu.
