Abstract
Background Prenatal anxiety and depression exert a significant influence on the physiological and psychological health outcomes of both expectant mothers and their infants. The aim of this study was to explore the intrinsic relationships between maternal anxiety, depression in early pregnancy, and their influencing factors. The findings of this study provide scientific basis for developing targeted preventive interventions. Methods The study involved 887 expectant mothers in the early stages of pregnancy residing in Changsha City from March to August 2022. The sociodemographic characteristics, health and lifestyle factors, and pregnancy-related factors of participants were collected. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale were used to assess depression and anxiety, respectively. Chi-square tests and multivariate logistic regression models using SPSS 26.0 were used to assess factors impacting early pregnancy anxiety and depression. Amos 23.0 was used to construct a path model to determine the potential pathways of the influencing factors. Results In early pregnancy, the prevalence of depression and anxiety were 17.4% and 15.8%, respectively. Path analysis showed that early pregnancy anxiety and illness during pregnancy had a direct effect on early pregnancy depression. Anxiety had the greatest overall impact on early pregnancy depression. Education, maternal comorbidities, symptoms of pregnancy, electronic device usage time, work stress, active smoking in the 6 months before pregnancy, and sleep quality were found to solely exert indirect effects on early pregnancy depression. Sleep quality had the greatest overall impact on early pregnancy anxiety. Active smoking in the 6 months before pregnancy, sleep quality, and work stress only had a direct impact on early pregnancy anxiety. Additionally, electronic device usage duration and monthly per capita household income exclusively indirectly impacted symptoms of early pregnancy anxiety. Conclusion The study highlights the importance of targeted interventions in early screening. Avoiding excessive use of electronic devices and active smoking in the 6 months before pregnancy, alleviating work stress and symptoms of pregnancy, increasing education levels and monthly per capita household income, improving sleep quality, and actively preventing illnesses during pregnancy and maternal comorbidities might reduce anxiety and depression in early pregnancy.

Abstract
Progress in promoting mental health, preventing mental illness, and improving care for people affected by mental illness is unlikely to occur if efforts remain separated from existing public health programs and the principles of public health action. Experts met recently to discuss integrating public health and mental health strategies in the south and east of Asia, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Areas of research identified as high priority were: 1) integrating mental health into perinatal care; 2) providing culturally-adjusted support for carers of people with mental and physical disorders; 3) using digital health technologies for mental health care in areas with limited resources and 4) building local research capacity. Selection of these areas was informed by their relative novelty in the region, ease of implementation, likely widespread benefit, and potential low costs. In this article, we summarise available evidence, highlight gaps and call for collaborations with research centres, leaders and persons with lived experience within and beyond the region.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A strong evidence base indicates that maternal caregivers' experience of intimate partner violence [IPV] impacts children's health, cognitive development, and risk-taking behaviors. Our objective was to review peer-reviewed literature describing the associations between a child's indirect exposure to IPV and corresponding nutrition outcomes, with a particular focus on fragile settings in low and middle-income countries [LMICs]. METHODS We conducted a rapid evidence assessment to synthesize quantitative associations between maternal caregivers' IPV experience and children's nutrition/growth outcomes (birthweight, feeding, and growth indicators). We included peer-reviewed research, published in English or Spanish after the year 2000, conducted in fragile settings in LMICs. RESULTS We identified 86 publications that fit inclusion criteria. Amongst all associations assessed, a maternal caregiver's experience of combined forms of IPV (physical, sexual and emotional) or physical IPV only, were most consistently associated with lower birthweight, especially during pregnancy. Women of child-bearing age, including adolescents, exposed to at least one type of IPV showed a decreased likelihood of following recommended breastfeeding practices. Lifetime maternal experience of combined IPV was significantly associated with stunting among children under 5 years of age in the largest study included, though findings in smaller studies were inconsistent. Maternal experience of physical or combined IPV were inconsistently associated with underweight or wasting in the first five years. Maternal experience of sexual IPV during pregnancy appeared to predict worsened lipid profiles among children. CONCLUSION Maternal caregivers' experience of IPV is significantly associated with low birthweight and suboptimal breastfeeding practices, whereas studies showed inconsistent associations with child growth indicators or blood nutrient levels. Future research should focus on outcomes in children aged 2 years and older, investigation of feeding practices beyond breastfeeding, and examination of risk during time periods physiologically relevant to the outcomes. Programmatic implications include incorporation of GBV considerations into nutrition policies and programming and integrating GBV prevention and response into mother and child health and nutrition interventions in LMIC contexts.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A growing number of studies have shown that prenatal exposure to chemical and non-chemical stressors has effects on fetal growth. The co-exposure of both better reflects real-life exposure patterns. However, no studies have included air pollutants and pregnancy-related anxiety (PrA) as mixtures in the analysis. METHOD Using the birth cohort study method, 576 mother-child pairs were included in the Ma'anshan Maternal and Child Health Hospital. Evaluate the exposure levels of six air pollutants during pregnancy using inverse distance weighting (IDW) based on the pregnant woman's residential address and air pollution data from monitoring stations. Prenatal anxiety levels were assessed using the PrA Questionnaire. Generalized linear regression (GLR), quantile g-computation (QgC) and bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR) were used to assess the independent or combined effects of air pollutants and PrA on birth weight for gestational age z-score (BWz). RESULT The results of GLR indicate that the correlation between the six air pollutants and PrA with BWz varies depending on the different stages of pregnancy and pollutants. The QgC shows that during trimester 1, when air pollutants and PrA are considered as a whole exposure, an increase of one quartile is significantly negatively correlated with BWz. The BKMR similarly indicates that during trimester 1, the combined exposure of air pollutants and PrA is moderately correlated with a decrease in BWz. CONCLUSION Using the method of analyzing mixed exposures, we found that during pregnancy, the combined exposure of air pollutants and PrA, particularly during trimester 1, is associated with BWz decrease. This supports the view that prenatal exposure to chemical and non-chemical stressors has an impact on fetal growth.

Abstract
AIMS To study the clinical and sociodemographic profile of women with mental illness seeking conception counselling at perinatal psychiatry service. To compare women seeking preconception counselling (PCC) to that of those who sought help after unplanned pregnancy with exposure (UPE) to psychotropics. MATERIAL AND METHODS Data was extracted from the clinical records of women between the year 2014-2017 who attended perinatal outpatient services. The details collected included sociodemographic details, illness details, contraception, infertility treatment and detailed treatment history. RESULTS Of the 766 women who consulted perinatal psychiatry services (2014-17), 179 (23.37%) had consulted for conception counselling. Out of that 104 (58.1%) sought PCC, and 75 (41.9%) had UPE to psychotropics. PCC was sought by women with higher education, those having a severe mental illness, and a longer duration of illness. Women with medical comorbidities and receiving infertility treatment also sought PCC. Also, women who had earlier undergone PCC been more likely to seek PCC for further pregnancies. CONCLUSIONS Women with mental illness should be counselled regarding planned pregnancies, contraception, and the impact of psychotropics on pregnancy and foetus. Also, liaison with other specialities like obstetricians, sonologist and paediatricians is essential.

Abstract
In a cohort study, a group of subjects (the cohort) is followed for a period of time; assessments are conducted at baseline, during follow-up, and at the end of follow-up. Cohort studies are, therefore, empirical, longitudinal studies based on data obtained from a sample; they are also observational and (usually) naturalistic. Analyses can be conducted for the cohort as a whole or for subgroups amongst which comparisons can be drawn. Because there is no randomization to the subgroups of interest, cause and effect relationships cannot be determined, and relationships between variables must be stated as associations that may or may not be influenced by confounding. The cohort that is studied can be prospectively or retrospectively defined, and each method has its advantages and disadvantages. These and other issues are explained with the help of examples. A special note is made of cohort studies in Indian psychiatry.
