Abstract
Background Feed efficiency is one of the most important parameters that affect beef production costs. The energy metabolism of skeletal muscle greatly contributes to variations in feed efficiency. However, information regarding differences in proteins involved in the energy metabolism of the skeletal muscle in beef cattle divergently identified for feed efficiency is scarce. In this study, we aimed to investigate energy metabolism of skeletal muscle of Nellore beef cattle, identified for low and high residual feed intake using a proteomics approach. We further assessed the expression of candidate microRNAs as a one of the possible mechanisms controlling the biosynthesis of the proteins involved in energy metabolism that were differentially abundant between high and low residual feed intake animals. Results A greater abundance of 14–3-3 protein epsilon (P = 0.01) was observed in skeletal muscle of residual feed intake (RFI) high animals (RFI-High). Conversely, a greater abundance of Heat Shock Protein Beta 1 (P < 0.01) was observed in the skeletal muscle of RFI-Low cattle. A greater mRNA expression of YWHAE, which encodes the 14–3-3 protein epsilon, was also observed in the skeletal muscle of RFI-High animals (P = 0.01). A lower mRNA expression of HSPB1, which encodes the Heat Shock Protein Beta 1, was observed in the skeletal muscle of RFI-High animals (P = 0.01). The miR-665 was identified as a potential regulator of the 14–3-3 protein epsilon, and its expression was greater in RFI-Low animals (P < .001). A greater expression of miR-34a (P = 0.01) and miR-2899 (P < .001) was observed in the skeletal muscle of RFI-High animals, as both miRNAs were identified as potential regulators of HSPB1 expression. Conclusion Our results show that Nellore cattle divergently identified for feed efficiency by RFI present changes in the abundance of proteins involved in energy expenditure in skeletal muscle. Moreover, our data point towards that miR-665, miR34a and miR-2899 are likely involved in controlling both 14-3-3 epsilon and HSPB1 proteins identified as differentially abundant in the skeletal muscle of RFI-High and RFI-Low Nellore cattle. Abstract
OBJECTIVE This analysis compared 3 continuous variables as summary support loss (SL) scores with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) quantification (POPQ) ordinal stages. STUDY DESIGN We used pooled baseline data from 1141 subjects in 3 randomized trials (CARE, n = 322; OPUS, n = 380; ATLAS, n = 439) to test 3 SL measures. The relative responsiveness was assessed using the standardized response mean of 2-year outcome data from the CARE trial. RESULTS Each SL measure was strongly correlated with POPQ ordinal staging; the single most distal POPQ point had the strongest correlation. Improvements in anatomic support were weakly correlated with improvements in POP Distress Inventory (r = 0.17-0.24; P < .01 for each) but not with changes in POP Impact Questionnaire for all measures of SL or POPQ stage. CONCLUSION While continuous, single number summary measures compared favorably to ordinal POPQ staging system, the single most distal POPQ point may be preferable to POPQ ordinal stages to summarize or compare group data.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS The objective of this study was to compare the results of the Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification (POP-Q) examination by visual estimation to measurement. METHODS Women with pelvic organ prolapse underwent both "eyeball"/estimated and measured POP-Q examinations by two trained examiners in a randomized order. POP-Q points and stage were analyzed using the paired t test, chi-square, Pearson's correlation, and kappa statistics. RESULTS Fifty subjects had a mean age of 60, mean BMI 27.8, and median parity of 2. The POP-Q stages by the measured technique were 18% (9/50) stage 1, 38% (19/50) stage 2, 44% (22/50) stage 3, and 0% (0/50) stage 4. The POP-Q stages based on estimation and measurement were highly associated (p < 0.05). Individual points did not differ significantly between the techniques and did not differ significantly between examiners (all p > 0.05). CONCLUSION Among examiners who routinely perform POP-Q examinations, there is no significant difference between "eyeball"/estimated and measured POP-Q values and stage.

Abstract
OBJETIVO: Comparar o uso de tela de polipropileno e correção sitio-específica no tratamento cirúrgico do prolapso vaginal anterior. MÉTODOS: Estudo prospectivo randômico comparativo em que foram operadas 32 pacientes com idades entre 50 e 75 anos, que apresentavam prolapso vaginal anterior estádio III ou IV, ou recidivado. A estática pélvica foi avaliada segundo as recomendações da International Continence Society (ICS), o sistema POP-Q e pelo Índice de Quantificação de Prolapso (POP-Q-I) Absoluto e Relativo. Para o rastreamento da incontinência urinária de esforço oculta todas as pacientes, sintomáticas ou não, foram submetidas a estudo urodinâmico em posição semi-ginecológica e semi-sentada, com redução do prolapso com pinça de Cheron. Registrou-se o tempo cirúrgico, o volume de sangramento intra-operatório e as complicações intra e pós-operatórias. O tempo de seguimento médio do estudo foi de 8,5 meses. RESULTADOS: Em relação aos resultados anatômicos ocorreu melhores resultados com a utilização de tela de polipropileno sobre o reparo sitio-específico. Em relação à morbidade cirúrgica, observou-se menor tempo cirúrgico no grupo em que utilizou-se tela. CONCLUSÃO: Houve superioridade dos resultados anatômicos obtidos com a utilização de tela de polipropileno sobre o reparo sitio-específico.
