Abstract
The peroxidase-like behaviors of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have the potential to the development of rapid and sensitive colorimetric assays for specific food ingredients and contaminants. Here, using NaBH4 as a reducing agent, AuNPs with a supramolecular macrocyclic compound β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) capped were synthesized under alkaline conditions. Monodispersal of β-CD@AuNPs possessed a reduction in diameter size and performed great peroxidase-like activities toward both substrates, H2O2 and TMB. In the presence of H2O2, the color change of TMB oxidization to oxTMB was well-achieved using β-CD@AuNPs as the catalyst, which was further employed to develop colorimetric assays for ascorbic acid, with a limit of detection as low as 0.2 μM in ddH2O. With the help of the host-guest interaction between β-CD and adamantane, AuNPs conjugated with nanobodies to exhibit peroxidase-like activities and specific recognition against Salmonella Typhimurium simultaneously. Based on this bifunctional bioprobe, a selective and sensitive one-step colorimetric assay for S. Typhimurium was developed with a linear detection from 8.3 × 104 to 2.6 × 108 CFU/mL and can be provided to spiked lettuce with acceptable recoveries of 97.31% to 103.29%. The results demonstrated that the excellent peroxidase-like behaviors of β-CD@AuNPs can be applied to develop a colorimetric sensing platform in the food industry.

Abstract
Cyclosporine A (CsA) is an immunosuppressive drug that is widely used in clinical practice. Due to its narrow therapeutic window and the significant differences between individuals, the therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of CsA is required to ensure patient safety. In this study, we screened a novel aptamer, named CsA7, which could specifically recognize CsA, and developed a AuNPs colorimetric aptasensor for the rapid detection of CsA. In the SELEX process, after eight rounds of screening, four aptamer candidate sequences were obtained and subjected to binding affinity and specificity tests. Finally, the CsA7 aptamer (Kd = 41.21 ng mL-1) showed the highest affinity for CsA. Based on CsA7, we also developed a AuNPs colorimetric aptasensor, which had a detection limit of 0.1 ng mL-1 and a quantitative range of 0.1-500 ng mL-1 and showed good selectivity among CsA and its analogs. According to the results, the CsA7 aptamer provides an alternative recognition molecule to the antibody in biosensor applications and shows great potential for the rapid and convenient detection of CsA.

Abstract
Rapid, simple and sensitive screening of foodborne pathogens is of great significance to ensure food safety. In this study, an aptamer-functionalized polydiacetylene (Apta-PDA) biosensor was developed for the detection of E. coli O157:H7, S. typhimurium or V. parahaemolyticus. First, aptamers responding to the target bacteria were modified on the surface of magnetic beads by covalent binding to form MBs-oligonucleotide conjugates for bacterial enrichment. Then, an Apta-PDA biosensor was obtained by connecting the aptamers to the PDA nanovesicles using the carbodiimide method. Molecular recognition occurred in the presence of the target bacteria, whereby the aptamer folded into a sequence-defined unique structure, resulting in an MBs-Apta/bacteria/Apta-PDA sandwich structure. Due to the optical properties of PDA, the blue-red transition of the detection system could be observed by the naked eye and quantified by the colorimetric response percentage (CR%). Under optimized conditions, the detection limits of E. coli O157:H7, S. typhimurium and V. parahaemolyticus were 39, 60 and 60 CFU/ml, respectively, with a selectivity of 100% and a reaction time of 30 min. Compared with the gold standard method, the accuracy of the three target bacteria detection reached 98%, 97.5% and 97%, respectively, and the sensitivity and specificity were both greater than 90%. The entire detection process was rapid and easy to execute without any special equipment, making this technology particularly suitable for resource-poor laboratories or regions.

Abstract
Natural cyclodextrins (CDs) can be formed by 6, 7, or 8 glucose molecules (α-, β-, and γ-, respectively) linked in a ring, creating a cone shape. Its interior has an affinity for hydrophobic molecules, while the exterior is hydrophilic and can interact with water molecules. This feature has been used to develop active packaging applied to food, interacting with the product or its environment to improve one or more aspects of its quality or safety. It also provides monitoring information when food is optimal for consumption, as intelligent packaging is essential for the consumer and the merchant. Therefore, this review will focus on discerning which packaging is most appropriate for each situation, solubility and toxicological considerations, characterization techniques, effect on the guest properties, and other aspects related to forming the inclusion complex with bioactive molecules applied to packaging.
