Abstract
5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) is a heterocyclic compound with six carbons commonly found in heat-treated carbohydrate-rich foods. 5-HMF exceeding the specified limit is cytotoxic to the human body, and will be converted into carcinogenic substances (5-sulfoxide methyl furfural) after long-term accumulation in the body. Therefore, it is highly necessary to develop a sensitive and accurate detection method for 5-HMF in the field of food safety. In this study, a photoelectric sensing method was developed for the highly sensitive detection of 5-HMF using hollow TiO2 nanospheres successfully synthesized by template, sol-gel and lye etching methods. The structure and composition of the materials were studied by XRD, XPS, SEM and TEM. The electrochemical and photoelectrochemical properties of an h-TiO2 electrode probe based on indium tin oxide (ITO) slides were investigated. The results indicated that the linear relationship of 5-HMF is good in the concentration range of 10-11-10-7 M, and the detection limit of 5-HMF is 0.001 nM. Moreover, the PEC sensor shows high accuracy in the detection of actual samples.

Abstract
In the present work, we developed a photoelectrochemical aptasensor to determine omethoate (OMT) based on the dual signal amplification of CeO2@MnO2 photocatalysis for glucose oxidation and exonuclease I-assisted cyclic catalytic hydrolysis. CeO2@MnO2 heterojunction material prepared by hydrothermal method was linked with captured DNA (cDNA) and then assembled on the ITO conductive glass to form ITO/CeO2@MnO2-cDNA, which exhibited significant photocurrent response and good photocatalytic performance for glucose oxidation under visible light irradiation, providing the feasibility for sensitive determining OMT. After binding with the aptamer of OMT (apt), the formation of rigid double stranded cDNA/apt kept CeO2@MnO2 away from ITO surface, which ensured a low photocurrent background for the constructed ITO/CeO2@MnO2-cDNA/apt aptasensor. In the presence of target OMT, the restoration of the cDNA hairpin structure and the exonuclease I-assisted cyclic catalytic hydrolysis led to the generation and amplification of measurement photocurrent signals, and allowed the aptasensor to have an ideal quantitative range of 0.01-10.0 nM and low detection limit of 0.0027 nM. Moreover, the aptasensor has been applied for selective determination of OMT in real samples with good precision of the relative standard deviation less than 6.2 % and good accuracy of the recoveries from 93 % to 108 %. What's more, the aptasensor can be used for other target determination only by replacing the captured DNA and corresponding aptamer.

Abstract
Pesticides have become an integral part of modern agricultural practices, but their widespread use poses a significant threat to human health. As such, there is a pressing need to develop effective methods for detecting pesticides in food and environmental samples. Traditional chromatography methods and common rapid detection methods cannot satisfy accuracy, portability, long storage time, and solution stability at the same time. In recent years, photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing technology has gained attention as a promising approach for detecting various pesticides due to its salient advantages, including high sensitivity, low cost, simple operation, fast response, and easy miniaturization, thus becoming a competitive candidate for real-time and on-site monitoring of pesticide levels. This review provides an overview of the recent advancements in PEC methods for pesticide detection and their applications in ensuring food and environmental safety, with a focus on the categories of photoactive materials, from single semiconductor to semiconductor-semiconductor heterojunction, and signaling mechanisms of PEC sensing platforms, including oxidation of pesticides, steric hindrance, generation/decrease in sacrificial agents, and introduction/release of photoactive materials. Additionally, this review will offer insights into future prospects and confrontations, thereby contributing novel perspectives to this evolving domain.
