Abstract
2-Deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-d-glucose (FDG) uptake of the reticuloendothelial system on positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) is known to be related to systemic inflammatory response to cancer cells in patients with diverse malignancies. This retrospective study aimed to investigate whether FDG uptake by the reticuloendothelial system had a prognostic value in predicting progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in 138 cholangiocarcinoma patients. Quantifying FDG uptake of the aorta, bone marrow (BM), liver, and spleen from staging FDG PET/CT images, we found significant correlations between the BM-to-aorta uptake ratio (BAR), spleen-to-aorta uptake ratio, and BM-to-liver uptake ratio with tumor stage and serum inflammatory markers. In the multivariate survival analysis, BAR was an independent predictor of PFS (p = 0.016; hazard ratio, 2.308) and OS (p = 0.030; hazard ratio, 2.645). Patients with stages III-IV of the disease and a high BAR exhibited low 1-year PFS (35.8%) and OS (60.2%) rates, while those with stages I-II of the disease and low BAR showed robust rates of 90.0% and 96.7%, respectively. BAR measured on staging FDG PET/CT might be a potential imaging biomarker offering insights into the systemic inflammatory response and predicting prognosis in cholangiocarcinoma. This study highlights BAR as a promising, independent predictor with potential for personalized prognostication and treatment strategies.

Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of 2-Deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-D-glucose ([18F]FDG) uptake in the bone marrow (BM) and primary tumors on dual-time-point (DTP) PET/CT for predicting progression-free survival (PFS) and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We retrospectively analyzed DTP [18F]FDG PET/CT images from 211 patients with NSCLC. The maximum standardized uptake value (SUV) of primary lung cancer and mean [18F]FDG uptake of the BM (BM SUV) were measured from early and delayed PET/CT images, and the percent changes in these parameters (∆maximum SUV and ∆BM SUV) were calculated. On multivariate survival analysis, the maximum SUV and BM SUV on both early and delayed PET/CT scans were significantly associated with PFS, while the ∆maximum SUV and ∆BM SUV failed to show statistical significance. For DMFS, the ∆maximum SUV and ∆BM SUV were independent predictors along with the TNM stage. Distant progression was observed only in 1.3% of patients with low ∆maximum SUV and ∆BM SUV, whereas 28.2% of patients with high ∆maximum SUV and ∆BM SUV experienced distant progression. The ∆maximum SUV and ∆BM SUV on DTP [18F]FDG PET/CT were significant independent predictors for DMFS in patients with NSCLC.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES We aimed to compare the prognostic value of inflammatory biomarkers extracted from pretreatment peripheral blood and [18F]-FDG PET for estimating outcomes in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with first-line immunotherapy (IT) or chemotherapy (CT). MATERIALS AND METHODS In this retrospective multicenter study, we evaluated 111 patients with advanced NSCLC who underwent baseline [18F]-FDG PET/CT before IT or CT between 2016 and 2019. Several blood inflammatory indices were evaluated: derived neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (dNLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), C-reactive protein (CRP) and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII). FDG-PET inflammatory parameters were extracted from lymphoid tissues (BLR and SLR: bone marrow or spleen-to-Liver SUVmax ratios). Association with survival and relationships between parameters were evaluated using Cox prediction models and Spearman's correlation respectively. RESULTS Overall, 90 patients were included (IT:CT) (51:39pts). Median PFS was 8.6:6.6 months and median OS was not reached:21.2 months. In the IT cohort, high dNLR (>3), high SII (≥1,270) and high SLR (0.77) were independent statistically significant prognostic factors for one-year progression-free survival (1y-PFS) and two-year overall survival (2y-OS) on multivariable analysis. In the CT cohort, high BLR (≥0.80) and high dNLR (>3) were associated with shorter 1y-PFS (HR 2.2, 95% CI 1.0-4.9) and 2y-OS (HR 3.4, 95CI 1.1-10.3) respectively, on multivariable analysis. Finally, BLR significantly but moderately correlated with most blood-based inflammatory indices (CRP, PLR and SII) while SLR was only associated with CRP (p < 0.01 for all). CONCLUSION In advanced NSCLC patients undergoing first-line IT or CT, pretreatment blood and inflammatory factors evaluating the spleen or bone marrow on [18F]-FDG PET/CT provided prognostic information for 1y-PFS and 2y-OS. These biomarkers should be further evaluated for potential clinical application.

Abstract
Serum inflammatory markers are used in the prognostication of colorectal cancer (CRC); however, the corresponding role of positron emission tomography (PET)-derived inflammatory markers remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in the bone marrow and spleen of patients with CRC and evaluate the relationship between FDG uptake estimates in these organs and serum inflammatory markers. In total, 411 patients who underwent preoperative FDG PET/computed tomography (CT) within 1 month of surgery were enrolled. The mean standardized uptake values of the bone marrow and spleen were normalized to the value of the liver, thereby generating bone marrow-to-liver uptake ratio (BLR) and spleen-to-liver uptake ratio (SLR) estimates. The value of BLR and SLR in predicting overall survival (OS) was assessed using the Cox proportional hazards model. The correlation between BLR or SLR and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was evaluated. The predictive accuracy of BLR alone and in combination with SLR was compared using the integrated area under the receiver operating characteristic curves (iAUC). In the univariate analysis, BLR (> 1.06) and SLR (> 0.93) were significant predictors of OS. In the multivariate analysis, BLR was an independent predictor of OS (hazard ratio = 5.279; p < 0.001). Both BLR and SLR were correlated with NLR (p < 0.001). A combination of BLR and SLR was better than BLR alone at CRC prognostication (iAUC, 0.561 vs. 0.542). FDG uptake estimates in the bone marrow and spleen may be useful imaging-derived biomarkers of systemic inflammation, supporting CRC prognostication.

Abstract
We investigated the prognostic significance and the underlying mechanism of increased bone marrow (BM) 2-(18F) fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose as a tracer (FDG)-uptake in patients with gynecological cancer. A list of patients diagnosed with cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancer from January 2008 to December 2014 were identified. Then, through chart reviews, 559 patients who underwent staging by FDG-positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) and subsequent surgical resection were identified, and their clinical data were reviewed retrospectively. BM FDG-uptake was evaluated using maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and BM-to-aorta uptake ratio (BAR). As a result, we have found that increased BAR was observed in 20 (8.7%), 21 (13.0%), 21 (12.6%) of cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancer, respectively, and was associated with significantly shorter survival. Increased BAR was also closely associated with increased granulopoiesis. In vitro and in vivo experiments revealed that tumor-derived granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) was involved in the underlying causative mechanism of increased BM FDG-uptake, and that immune suppression mediated by G-CSF-induced myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) is responsible for the poor prognosis of this type of cancer. In conclusion, increased BM FDG-uptake, as represented by increased BAR, is an indicator of poor prognosis in patients with gynecological cancer.

Abstract
Background The objective of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of 2-Deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-D-glucose ([18F]FDG) uptake of bone marrow (BM) and metabolic parameters of primary tumor on positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for predicting distant recurrence in patients with breast cancer. Methods Pretreatment [18F]FDG PET/CT images of 345 breast cancer patients were retrospectively evaluated. Maximum standardized uptake value, metabolic tumor volume, and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) of primary breast cancer and bone marrow-to-liver uptake ratio (BLR) on PET/CT were measured. A Cox proportional hazard regression model was used to evaluate the prognostic potential of parameters for predicting recurrence-free survival (RFS) and distant RFS. For Kaplan-Meier analysis, the specific cutoff values pf BLR and TLG were determined by the maximal chi-square method. Results The median follow-up duration of the enrolled patients was 48.7 months, and during follow-up, 36 patients (10.4%) experienced the cancer recurrence. BLR was significantly correlated with T stage, serum inflammatory markers, and recurrence pattern (p < 0.05). Patients with high BLR and TLG showed worse RFS and distant RFS than those with low BLR and TLG. On multivariate analysis, BLR was significantly associated with both RFS and distant RFS after adjusting for T stage, estrogen receptor status, and TLG (p = 0.001 for both). Only 0.5% of patients with TLG < 9.64 g and BLR < 0.91 experienced distant recurrence. However, patients with TLG ≥ 9.64 g and BLR ≥ 0.91 had a distant recurrence rate of 40.7%. Conclusions BLR on pretreatment [18F]FDG PET/CT were significant predictors for RFS and distant RFS in patients with breast cancer. By combining [18F]FDG uptake of BM and volumetric PET/CT index of breast cancer, the risk of distant recurrence could be stratified.

Abstract
PURPOSE To identify risk factors for developing symptomatic brain metastases and evaluate the impact of prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) on brain metastasis-free survival (BMFS) and overall survival (OS) in extensive disease small cell lung cancer (ED-SCLC). MATERIALS AND METHODS Among 190 patients diagnosed with ED-SCLC who underwent FDG PET/CT and brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) prior to treatment, 53 (27.9%) received PCI while 137 (72.1%) did not. Prognostic index predicting a high risk of symptomatic brain metastases was calculated for the group without receiving PCI (observation group, n = 137) with Cox regression model. RESULTS Median follow-up time was 10.6 months. Multivariate Cox regression showed that the following three factors were associated with a high risk of symptomatic brain metastases: the presence of extrathoracic metastases (p = 0.004), hypermetabolism of bone marrow or spleen on FDG PET (p < 0.001), and high neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (p = 0.018). PCI significantly improved BMFS in high-risk patients (1-year rate: 94.7% vs. 62.1%, p = 0.001), but not in low-risk patients (1-year rate: 100.0% vs. 87.7%, p = 0.943). However, PCI did not improve OS in patients at high risk for symptomatic brain metastases (1-year rate: 65.2% vs. 50.0%, p = 0.123). CONCLUSION Three prognostic factors (the presence of extrathoracic metastases, hypermetabolism of bone marrow or spleen on FDG PET, and high neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio) were associated with a high risk of symptomatic brain metastases in ED-SCLC. PCI was beneficial for patients at a high risk of symptomatic brain metastases in terms of BMFS, but not OS. Thus, selective use of PCI in ED-SCLC according to the risk stratification is recommended.

Abstract
Background Primary tumor maximum standardized uptake value is a prognostic marker for non-small cell lung cancer. In the setting of malignancy, bone marrow activity from fluorine 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET may be informative for clinical risk stratification. Purpose To determine whether integrating FDG PET radiomic features of the primary tumor, tumor penumbra, and bone marrow identifies lung cancer disease-free survival more accurately than clinical features alone. Materials and Methods Patients were retrospectively analyzed from two distinct cohorts collected between 2008 and 2016. Each tumor, its surrounding penumbra, and bone marrow from the L3-L5 vertebral bodies was contoured on pretreatment FDG PET/CT images. There were 156 bone marrow and 512 tumor and penumbra radiomic features computed from the PET series. Randomized sparse Cox regression by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator identified features that predicted disease-free survival in the training cohort. Cox proportional hazards models were built and locked in the training cohort, then evaluated in an independent cohort for temporal validation. Results There were 227 patients analyzed; 136 for training (mean age, 69 years ± 9 [standard deviation]; 101 men) and 91 for temporal validation (mean age, 72 years ± 10; 91 men). The top clinical model included stage; adding tumor region features alone improved outcome prediction (log likelihood, -158 vs -152; P = .007). Adding bone marrow features continued to improve performance (log likelihood, -158 vs -145; P = .001). The top model integrated stage, two bone marrow texture features, one tumor with penumbra texture feature, and two penumbra texture features (concordance, 0.78; 95% confidence interval: 0.70, 0.85; P < .001). This fully integrated model was a predictor of poor outcome in the independent cohort (concordance, 0.72; 95% confidence interval: 0.64, 0.80; P < .001) and a binary score stratified patients into high and low risk of poor outcome (P < .001). Conclusion A model that includes pretreatment fluorine 18-fluorodeoxyglucose PET texture features from the primary tumor, tumor penumbra, and bone marrow predicts disease-free survival of patients with non-small cell lung cancer more accurately than clinical features alone. © RSNA, 2019 Online supplemental material is available for this article.

Prognostic Value of Fluorine-18 Fluorodeoxyglucose Uptake of Bone Marrow on Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography for Prediction of Disease Progression in Cervical Cancer. Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake of bone marrow (BM) on positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography in patients with uterine cervical cancer. METHODS One hundred forty-five patients with cervical cancer who underwent staging FDG PET/computed tomography and subsequent surgical resection or chemoradiotherapy were retrospectively enrolled in the study. Mean BM FDG uptake (BM standardized uptake value [SUV]) and BM-to-liver uptake ratio of FDG uptake (BLR) were measured. Relationships of BM SUV and BLR with hematologic and inflammatory markers were evaluated. Prognostic values of PET parameters for predicting disease progression-free survival and distant recurrence-free survival (DRFS) were assessed with a Cox proportional hazards regression model. RESULTS Bone marrow SUV and BLR were significantly correlated with white blood cell count and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio. In the multivariate Cox regression analysis, International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage (P = 0.048), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (P = 0.028), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR; P = 0.004), maximum SUV of cervical cancer (P = 0.030), and BLR (P = 0.031) were significantly associated with progression-free survival, whereas lymph node metastasis (P = 0.041), PLR (P = 0.002), and BLR (P = 0.025) were significantly associated with DRFS. In a patient subgroup with chemoradiotherapy, BLR (P = 0.044) was still an independent prognostic factor for predicting DRFS in multivariate analysis along with PLR (P = 0.004). CONCLUSIONS In patients with cervical cancer, BLR is associated with an increased risk of disease progression and distant recurrence.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the prognostic significance of F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake on a dual-phase positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), focusing on the increment in maximal standardized uptake value (SUVinc) of tumor and bone marrow (BM) between initial and delayed phase images and retention index (RI) of tumor and BM, in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).From September 2009 to January 2013, 70 patients (37 males and 33 females, aged 60.6 ± 17.5 years) with DLBCL who had undergone dual-phase FDG PET/CT scans for pretreatment staging were enrolled. The patients subsequently received combination chemotherapy with rituximab. The dual-phase SUV, including SUVinc of tumor (SUVinc-t), RI of tumor (RI-t), SUVinc of BM, and RI of BM were measured. The clinical observation period was from September 2009 to December 2014. Both univariate and multivariate analyses were then used to assess the prognostic significance of SUVinc, RI, international prognostic index (IPI), gender, age, clinical stage, and laboratory tests.The median follow-up time was 35.5 months. The 3-year overall survival (OS) for patients with low/high SUVinc-t (cut-off 2.0) and for patients with low/high RI-t (cut-off 20) were 87.5%/ 62.1% (P = .08) and 83.3%/ 62.7% (P = .14), respectively. The 3-year OS for patients with SUVinc-i < 0.35 and for those with SUVinc-i ≥ 0.35 were 73.2% and 53.3%, respectively (P = .10). The 3-year OS for patients with RI-i < 45 and for those with RI-i ≥ 45 were 72.7% and 37.5%, respectively (P = .02). Subsequently, the Cox multivariate forward proportional hazards model revealed that a higher RI-i (hazard ratio: 4.49; 95% confidence interval: 1.64-12.32; P = .0035) and IPI were independent prognostic factors affecting OS.For patients with DLBCL, an elevated RI-i (≥45) was a predictor for shorter OS, independent of IPI score. It added to the value of pretreatment dual-phase FDG PET/CT scans.

Abstract

RESULTS BM SUV and BLR were significantly correlated with white blood cell count and C-reactive protein level. On univariate analysis, BLR was a significant prognostic factor for both PFS and OS. On multivariate analysis, TNM stage and BLR were independent prognostic factors for PFS, and only TNM stage was an independent prognostic factor for OS. CONCLUSIONS In NSCLC patients, FDG uptake of BM reflects the systemic inflammatory response and can be used as a biomarker to identify patients with poor prognosis. KEY POINTS • Bone marrow FDG uptake is correlated with serum inflammatory markers. • Bone marrow FDG uptake is an independent prognostic factor for progression-free survival. • Bone marrow FDG uptake can provide information on predicting lung cancer progression.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study evaluated the relationship between 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in bone marrow (BM) on positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) imaging and serum inflammatory markers and assessed the prognostic value of FDG uptake of BM in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who underwent curative surgical resection. PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively enrolled 110 NSCLC patients who underwent FDG PET/CT imaging and subsequent curative surgical resection. The maximum standardized uptake value of NSCLC (Tmax), mean FDG uptake of BM (BM SUV), and BM to liver uptake ratio (BLR) were measured. The relationships between BM SUV, BLR, and serum inflammatory markers were evaluated and the prognostic significance of PET/CT parameters for predicting recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were assessed. RESULTS BM SUV and BLR were significantly associated with serum C-reactive protein (CRP) level, white blood cell count, and the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR). BLR was also significantly correlated with serum albumin and the platelet to lymphocyte ratio. In univariate analysis, tumor, node, metastases (TNM) stage, serum CRP level, NLR, Tmax, and BLR were significant prognostic factors for RFS and OS, whereas histopathology and tumor size were significant prognostic factors for RFS. In multivariate analysis, BLR, histopathology, TNM stage, and Tmax were independent prognostic factors for RFS and TNM stage and Tmax were independent prognostic factors for OS. CONCLUSION FDG uptake of BM on PET/CT imaging was correlated with serum inflammatory markers and was an independent predictor for RFS, along with FDG uptake of NSCLC.

Abstract
A 73-year-old man was admitted to our hospital because of a 2-year history of repeated painful edematous erythemas on the skin and pancytopenia for the last 8 months. FDG PET/CT demonstrated multiple cutaneous foci with increased tracer accumulation throughout the body, multiple FDG-avid lymph nodes in the mediastinum, bilateral pulmonary hili and abdomen, and diffusively increased FDG uptake of bone marrow. A skin biopsy revealed infiltration by neutrophilic granulocytes consistent with Sweet syndrome. Myelodysplastic syndrome was established on bone marrow aspiration and biopsy.

Abstract
The patient was a 63-year-old man who was referred to our hospital as an emergency case with the chief complaint of abdominal pain. An abdominal CT revealed a right retroperitoneal tumor of 15 cm and retroperitoneal bleeding. After a transcatheter arterial embolization was performed, the patient was transferred to our department. There was no infective focus. The white blood cell (WBC) count (37,820/μl, normal range <8 pg/ml) and the serum granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) level (2,670 pg/ml, normal range <8 pg/ml) were high. Bone marrow biopsy revealed little fat, significant hyperplasia, and predominantly increased neutrophils, but no findings of bone metastasis or bone marrow involvement. A G-CSF-producing tumor was diagnosed and right nephrectomy and retroperitoneal tumorectomy were performed. However, the tumor had infiltrated into the inferior vena cava, diaphragm and abdominal wall, and only part of the tumor could be removed. In histopathological tests, hematoxylin-eosin staining showed malignant fibrous histiocytoma-like findings mixed with those for well-differentiated liposarcoma, and the case was diagnosed as dedifferentiated liposarcoma. Preoperative (18)F-FDG-PET computed tomography showed diffuse (18)F-FDG uptake throughout the bone marrow and elevated uptake at the tumor site. However, since bone biopsy and bone scintigraphy indicated no bone metastasis or bone marrow involvement, we concluded that PET/CT imaging gave false-positive results in the bone marrow. This is the first report of PET/CT imaging of a G-CSF-producing tumor in a urological disease. The imaging results may be useful for differential diagnosis for this tumor in patients with high WBC counts without infection.

Abstract
(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) is the radiotracer used in the vast majority of positron emission tomography (PET) cancer studies. FDG is a powerful radiotracer that provides valuable data in many cancer types. Normal FDG biodistribution is easily identified. In the PET-only era, physiological uptake provided important anatomical landmarks. However, the normal biodistribution of FDG is often variable and can be altered by intrinsic or iatrogenic factors. Recognizing these patterns of altered biodistribution is important for optimal FDG-PET interpretation. Altered FDG uptake in muscles, brown adipose tissue, bone marrow, the urinary tract, and the bowel is demonstrated in a significant proportion of patients, which can hide underlying malignant foci or mimic malignant lesions. The introduction of PET/computed tomography revolutionized PET imaging, bringing much-needed anatomical information. This modality allowed better characterization of some types of uptake, particularly brown adipose tissue FDG uptake. Different approaches to minimize interference from altered FDG biodistribution should be considered when performing PET scans. Otherwise, careful review and correlation of metabolic (FDG-PET) and anatomical (computed tomography) data should be performed to accurately characterize the foci of increased FDG uptake.

Abstract
A 57-year-old woman, just returned from a bicycling holiday in the mountains, presented with discomfort, hoarseness and chronic cough complaints. After chest x-ray, bronchoscopy and fluoro-deoxy-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (F-18 FDG PET/CT), a diagnosis of a tumor in the bronchus of the right upper lobe with obstruction pneumonia was made. After lobectomy of the right upper lobe, pathology revealed an ectopic bronchial low-grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma.The diffuse high FDG uptake in the bone marrow standardized uptake value (SUV mean 3.6 and max 5.2) is unlikely to be related to bone marrow stimulation due to pneumonia, but correlates with a high serum level of correlated with transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta1) secreted by the low-grade bronchial mucoepidermoid carcinoma.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE In clinical positron emission tomography (PET) studies for oncology, it is occasionally required to differentiate a diffuse increase in bone marrow (BM) F-18 fluoro-2-deoxyglucose (FDG) uptake due to the involvement of malignancy or hematopoietic disease and that due to the administration of hematopoietic cytokines, an inflammation reaction, or stimulation by some types of malignancy. The objectives of this study were to clarify the relationships between BM F-18 FDG uptake and blood parameters as well as age, and also to determine the degree of F-18 FDG accumulation that constitutes an abnormal level referring to blood parameters. METHODS Records of 65 patients, 32 with benign diseases and 33 with malignancies without metastasis in bone and liver until a half year after the PET examination, were analyzed retrospectively. Regions of interest were placed on the liver and the lower thoracic and lumbar vertebrae to measure the standardized uptake value (SUV), and vertebral SUVs were averaged as the BM SUV(mean). The BM SUV(mean) was divided by the liver SUV to calculate the BM/liver ratio. The relationships among the BM SUV(mean), or BM/liver ratio, and blood parameters and age were tested using multiple regression analysis. RESULTS In both patients with and without malignancy, a multiple regression model using the BM/liver ratio showed a higher coefficient of determination value than that using the BM SUV(mean), indicating that the correction by the liver SUV reduced the interindividual variation in the BM SUV(mean). The BM/liver ratio was negatively correlated with age (beta = -0.41 and -0.43, respectively) and positively correlated with serum C-reactive protein (CRP) level (beta = 0.39 and 0.46, respectively) in both groups of patients. Every patient with benign disease who had a ratio greater than or equal to 1 had an increased CRP level. CONCLUSIONS The BM F-18 FDG uptake depends on the patient's age and serum CRP level, both with and without malignancy. A BM F-18 FDG uptake greater than or equal to that of the liver may indicate BM activation.
