Abstract
In this work, pullulan (PUL) nanofibrous films incorporated with water-in-oil emulsions (PE) were prepared by microfluidic blowing spinning (MBS). The microstructures of nanofibers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). With the addition of W/O emulsions, the thermal stability, mechanical, and water barrier properties of PUL nanofibers were improved. Increases in emulsion content significantly affected the antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of nanofibrous films. ABTS and DPPH free radical scavenging rates increased from 10.26 % and 8.57 % to 60.66 % and 57.54 %, respectively. The inhibition zone of PE nanofibers against E. coli and S. aureus increased from 11.00 to 20.00 and from 15.67 to 21.17 mm, respectively. In addition, we investigated the freshness effectiveness of PE nanofibrous films on fresh-cut apples. PE nanofibrous films significantly maintained the firmness, and reduced the weight loss and browning index of the fresh-cut apple, throughout the 4 days of storage. Thus, the PE nanofibrous films exhibited good potential to prolong the shelf life of fresh-cut fruit and promote the development of active food packaging.

Abstract
The development of novel fibrous biomaterials and further processing of medical devices is still challenging. For instance, titanium(IV) oxide is a well-established biocompatible material, and the synthesis of TiOx particles and coatings via the sol-gel process has frequently been published. However, synthesis protocols of sol-gel-derived TiOx fibers are hardly known. In this publication, the authors present a synthesis and fabrication of purely sol-gel-derived TiOx fiber fleeces starting from the liquid sol-gel precursor titanium ethylate (TEOT). Here, the α-hydroxy-carboxylic acid lactic acid (LA) was used as a chelating ligand to reduce the reactivity towards hydrolysis of TEOT enabling a spinnable sol. The resulting fibers were processed into a non-woven fleece, characterized with FTIR, 13C-MAS-NMR, XRD, and screened with regard to their stability in physiological solution. They revealed an unexpected dependency between the LA content and the dissolution behavior. Finally, in vitro cell culture experiments proved their potential suitability as an open-mesh structured scaffold material, even for challenging applications such as therapeutic medicinal products (ATMPs).

Abstract
Attending the latest advances in polymeric fibers, the design of low-cost, and high-quality scientific equipment for obtaining fibers seemed essential. To overcome this challenge, a 3D printable prototype was designed, assembled, and validated to obtain fibers using the SBS method. The particular configuration of the prototype consisted of controlling the process conditions such as working distance and injection flow, as well as other parameters such as RPM and the axial movement of the cylindrical collector. Thus, these parameters were automated using a microcontroller (Arduino) that receives information from an Android device with bluetooth connectivity to control each of the elements of the equipment. Subsequently, the repeatability and reproducibility of the fibers was verified using polymers such as polystyrene (PS), polysulfone (PSF) and polyethylene oxide (PEO); furthermore, PSF fibers were manufactured to analyze the influence of working distance and the axial movement of the collector on their production.

Abstract
Composite poly-L-lactide acid-based scaffolds with hydroxyapatite (HAp) content up to 75 wt.% were fabricated via solution blow spinning. The influence of HAp concentration on structure, wettability, mechanical properties and chemical and phase composition of the produced materials was examined. It was found that with an increase of HAp content the average fiber diameter was increased, the uniaxial strength and relative elongation were reduced, while the phase composition and surface wettability did not change. The performance of the scaffolds during implantation in the parietal bone of a rat skull for a period from 15 to 90 days was studied. The materials have shown high ability to integrate with both soft and hard tissues. It was found that scaffolds with 25 wt.% HAp content significantly enhance osteogenesis during scarification (damage) of the periosteum. Overall, the fabricated scaffolds proved to be highly efficient for replacing bone defects in long tubular bones.

Abstract
Two types of graphite/diamond (GD) particles with different ash content was applied to prepare new electroconductive polylactide (PLA)-based nanocomposites. Four samples of nanocomposites for each type of GD particles with mass fraction 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, and 0.15 were prepared via an easily scalable method—melt blending. The samples were subjected to the studies of electrical properties via broadband dielectric spectroscopy. The results indicated up to eight orders of magnitude improvement in the electrical conductivity and electrical permittivity of the most loaded nanocomposites, in reference to the neat PLA. Additionally, the influence of ash content on the electrical conductivity of the nanocomposites revealed that technologically less-demanding fillers, i.e., of higher ash content, were the most beneficial in the light of nanofiller dispersibility and the final properties.

Abstract
In the past 30 years, researchers have worked towards reducing the size of ordinary three-dimensional (3D) materials into 1D or 2D materials in order to obtain new properties and applications of these low-dimensional systems. Among them, functional nanofibers with large surface area and high porosity have been widely studied and paid attention to. Because of the interesting properties of nanofibers, they find extensive application in filtration, wound dressings, composites, sensors, capacitors, nanogenerators, etc. Recently, a variety of nanofiber preparation methods such as melt blowing, electrospinning (e-spinning), centrifugal spinning and solution blow spinning (SBS) have been proposed. This paper includes a brief review of the fundamental principles of the preparation of nanofibers for solution jet spinning, the influence of experimental parameters, and the properties and potential applications of the solution-blown fibers. And the industrialization and challenges of SBS are also included.

Abstract
New photocatalytic membranes based on polylactic acid (PLA)/TiO2 hybrid nanofibers deposited on fiberglass supports were prepared and tested for the removal of ampicillin from aqueous solutions. The electrospinning technique was used to obtain hybrid nanofibers that were deposited on three types of fiberglass with different structures, resulting in three distinct photocatalytic membranes namely fiberglass fabric plain woven-type membrane, fiberglass mat-type membrane, and fiberglass fabric one-fold edge-type membrane. The results of the photocatalytic tests showed that the highest efficiency of ampicillin removal from aqueous solution is obtained with the fiberglass fabric plain woven-type membrane. Although it has been shown that the rate of photocatalytic degradation of ampicillin is high, being practically eliminated within the first 30 min of photocatalysis, the degree of mineralization of the aqueous solution is low even after two hours of photocatalysis due to the degradation of PLA from the photocatalytic membrane. The instability of PLA in the reactive environment of the photocatalytic reactor, evidenced by morphological, mineralogical and spectroscopic analyzes as well as by kinetic studies, is closely related to the structure of the fiberglass membrane used as a support for PLA/TiO2 hybrid nanofibers.

Abstract
This paper presents a biodegradation study conducted for 90 days under standardized controlled composting conditions of poly (lactic acid) (PLA) filled with functionalized anatase-titania nanofiller (PLA/TiO2 nanocomposites). The surface morphology, thermal properties, percentage of biodegradation, and molecular weight changes at different incubation times were evaluated via visual inspection, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) by taking degraded samples from compost at the end of target biodegradation time interval. The rapid increase of crystallinity indicated that the PLA and PLA/TiO2 nanocomposites had heterogeneous degradation mechanisms under controlled composting conditions. The biodegradation rate of PLA/TiO2 nanocomposites was higher than that of pure PLA because water molecules easily penetrated the nanocomposites. The dispersion of the nanoparticles in the PLA/TiO2 nanocomposites affected the biodegradation rate of PLA. Moreover, the biodegradation of PLA could be controlled by adding an amount of dispersed TiO2 nanofillers under controlled composting conditions.
