Unsymmetrical pyrazole-based new semiconductor oligomer: synthesis and optical properties

Electrochemically Catalyzed N–N Coupling and Ring Cleavage Reaction of 1H-Pyrazoles

The electrocatalyzed N–N coupling and ring cleavage reaction of 3-methyl-, 3,5-dimethyl-, 3-methyl-5-phenyl- and 3,5-diphenyl-1H-pyrazole was investigated and led to the electro-organic synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds. The results revealed that electrochemically produced 1H-pyrazoleox plays the role of acceptor in a reaction with the starting molecule via a N–N coupling and ring cleavage reaction of pyrazoles. The proposed reaction sequence consists of anodic oxidation, dimerization, rearrangement and reduction. The electrochemically catalyzed reactions were accomplished under constant-current and constant-potential conditions using an undivided electrochemical cell with the advantages of mild reaction conditions, remarkable yields and environmental compatibility.

Synthesis and Evaluation of Anticonvulsant Activities of 4-Phenylpiperidin- 2-one Derivatives

Background:

Although Antiepileptic Drugs (AEDs) acting on various targets have been applied in the clinic, the efficacy and tolerance of AEDs in the treatment of epilepsy have not significantly improved. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop some novel chemical moieties with a better safety profile and greater efficacy. We designed and synthesized twenty-seven 4- phenylpiperidin-2-one derivatives. This study aimed to investigate the potential use of a series of 4- phenylpiperidin-2-one derivatives as anticonvulsant drugs.

Methods:

Two experimental methods, Maximal Electroshock (MES) and subcutaneous pentylenetetrazole (scPTZ), were used to evaluate the anticonvulsant activity of the target compounds. Moreover, neurotoxicity (NT) was tested using the rotarod test.

Results:

Compound 7-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-6,7-dihydrothieno[3,2-b]pyridin-5-(4H)-one (11; MES, ED50 = 23.7 mg/kg, PI > 33.7; PTZ, ED50 = 78.1 mg/kg, PI > 10.0) showed the best anticonvulsant activity. The results of in vivo γ-aminobutyric Acid (GABA) estimation showed that compound 11 may have an effect on the GABA system. Compound 11 showed significant interactions with residues at the benzodiazepine (BZD)-binding site on GABAA receptors. Most target compounds have favorable blood brain barrier (BBB) permeability and oral bioavailability in predictions using silico molecular properties.

Conclusion:

According to the in vivo and in silico studies, compound 11 stand out as potential anticonvulsant agents for further studies.

A novel oligo-pyrazole-based thin film: synthesis, characterization, optical and morphological properties

Pyrazole-3,4-dicarboxylic acid 2 was synthesized via the hydrolysis of pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid 1 and subsequently heated with thionyl chloride to give the novel pyrazole-3,4-dicarbonyl dichloride 3, which was easily converted into oligo-pyrazole 4 upon its reaction with p-phenylene-diamine. These newly synthesized compounds were characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and FT-IR spectroscopy, and gel permission chromatography (GPC). Three novel oligo-pyrazole thin films were prepared using oligo-pyrazole 4 with these respective values of thickness: 20, 21, and 24 μm. The optical properties of the films, including the absorbance, transmittance, and optical band gap, were determined using UV-vis spectroscopy. The Eg values of the films were found to be 1.426, 1.537, and 1.648 eV for the 20, 21, and 24 μm thick organic films, respectively. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to examine the surface morphology and properties of the organic films. In the AFM images, a few black regions were observed and several yellow regions appeared over a large area, and the surface of the oligo-pyrazole films had an extremely low roughness value. The as-synthesized oligo-pyrazole has great potential in optoelectronic applications according to the optical properties of the as-prepared films. Graphical abstract.
