Handling Multi-Class Problem by Intuitionistic Fuzzy Twin Support Vector Machines Based on Relative Density Information

The intuitionistic fuzzy twin support vector machine (IFTSVM) merges the idea of the intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) with the twin support vector machine (TSVM), which can reduce the negative impact of noise and outliers. However, this technique is not suitable for multi-class and high-dimensional feature space problems. Furthermore, the computational complexity of IFTSVM is high because it uses the membership and non-membership functions to build a score function. We propose a new version of IFTSVM by using relative density information. This idea approximates the probability density distribution in multi-dimensional continuous space by computing the K-nearest-neighbor distance of each training sample. Then, we evaluate all the training points by a one-versus-one-versus-rest strategy to construct the k-class classification hyperplanes. A coordinate descent system is utilized to reduce the computational complexity of the training. The bootstrap technique with a 95 % confidence interval and Friedman test are conducted to quantify the significance of the performance improvements observed in numerical evaluations. Experiments on 24 benchmark datasets demonstrate the proposed method produces promising results as compared with other support vector machine models reported in the literature.

A Mathematical Model for Nonlinear Optimization Which Attempts Membership Functions to Address the Uncertainties

The problem of optimizing an objective function that exists within the constraints of equality and inequality is addressed by nonlinear programming (NLP). A linear program exists if all of the functions are linear; otherwise, the problem is referred to as a nonlinear program. The development of highly efficient and robust linear programming (LP) algorithms and software, the advent of high-speed computers, and practitioners’ wider understanding and portability of mathematical modeling and analysis have all contributed to LP’s importance in solving problems in a variety of fields. However, due to the nature of the nonlinearity of the objective functions and any of the constraints, several practical situations cannot be completely explained or predicted as a linear program. Efforts to overcome such nonlinear problems quickly and efficiently have made rapid progress in recent decades. The past century has seen rapid progress in the field of nonlinear modeling of real-world problems. Because of the uncertainty that exists in all aspects of nature and human life, these models must be viewed through a system known as a fuzzy system. In this article, a new fuzzy model is proposed to address the vagueness presented in the nonlinear programming problems (NLPPs). The proposed model is described; its mathematical formulation and detailed computational procedure are shown with numerical illustrations by employing trapezoidal fuzzy membership functions (TFMFs). Here, the computational procedure has an important role in acquiring the optimum result by utilizing the necessary and sufficient conditions of the Lagrangian multipliers method in terms of fuzziness. Additionally, the proposed model is based on the previous research in the literature, and the obtained optimal result is justified with TFMFs. A model performance evaluation was completed with different set of inputs, followed by a comparison analysis, results and discussion. Lastly, the performance evaluation states that the efficiency level of the proposed model is of high impact. The code to solve the model is implemented in LINGO, and it comes with a collection of built-in solvers for various problems.

Machine Learning Techniques for Differential Diagnosis of Vertigo and Dizziness: A Review

Vertigo is a sensation of movement that results from disorders of the inner ear balance organs and their central connections, with aetiologies that are often benign and sometimes serious. An individual who develops vertigo can be effectively treated only after a correct diagnosis of the underlying vestibular disorder is reached. Recent advances in artificial intelligence promise novel strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with this common symptom. Human analysts may experience difficulties manually extracting patterns from large clinical datasets. Machine learning techniques can be used to visualize, understand, and classify clinical data to create a computerized, faster, and more accurate evaluation of vertiginous disorders. Practitioners can also use them as a teaching tool to gain knowledge and valuable insights from medical data. This paper provides a review of the literatures from 1999 to 2021 using various feature extraction and machine learning techniques to diagnose vertigo disorders. This paper aims to provide a better understanding of the work done thus far and to provide future directions for research into the use of machine learning in vertigo diagnosis.
