Abstract
INTRODUCTION Throughout its history, there have been significant advances in pain control of inguinal hernia repairs. One of the most recent developments is locoregional pain blocks. There is a multitude of literature available on laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair and transversus abdominis plane (TAP) blocks. OBJECTIVES This paper seeks to provide a thorough and systematic literature review on the role of TAP blocks in laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs. METHODS PubMed and Google Scholar were searched for relevant literature using predetermined medical subject heading (MeSH) terms: "(TAP block)" AND "(Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair)". RESULTS A total of 166 publications were identified, from which 18 publications were included in the final review after eligibility criteria were applied. CONCLUSION The majority of studies conclude that TAP blocks performed in the setting of laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair improve post-operative pain and mobility, decrease opiate analgesic usage, and are superior in pain control compared to other modalities of regional anesthesia. Thus, to improve post-operative outcomes and patient satisfaction, TAP blocks should be heavily considered for routine use in surgical practice for laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair.

Abstract
With more than 5500 da Vinci Surgical System (DVSS) installed worldwide, the robotic approach for general surgery, including for inguinal hernia repair, is gaining popularity in the USA. However, in many countries outside the USA, robotic surgery is performed at only a few advanced institutions; therefore, its advantages over the open or laparoscopic approaches for inguinal hernia repair are unclear. Several retrospective studies have demonstrated the safety and feasibility of robotic inguinal hernia repair, but there is still no firm evidence to support the superiority of robotic surgery for this procedure or its long-term clinical outcomes. Robotic surgery has the potential to overcome the disadvantages of conventional laparoscopic surgery through appropriate utilization of technological advantages, such as wristed instruments, tremor filtering, and high-resolution 3D images. The potential benefits of robotic inguinal hernia repair are lower rates of complications or recurrence than open and laparoscopic surgery, with less postoperative pain, and a rapid learning curve for surgeons. In this review, we summarize the current status and future prospects of robotic inguinal hernia repair and discuss the issues associated with this procedure.

Abstract
Background An efficient, fast and sensitive ultra high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method for simultaneous determination of celecoxib (CEL), dezocine (DEZ) and dexmedetomidine (DEX) in beagle plasma were established. Methods The beagle dogs plasmawas precipitated by acetonitrile. The column was Acquity UPLC BEH C18 column and the mobile phase was acetonitrile-formic acid with gradient mode, and the flow rate was set at 0.4 mL/min. Under the positive ion mode, CEL, DEZ, DEX and Midazolam (internal standard, IS) were monitored by multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) as the following mass transition pairs: m/z 381.10→282.10 for CEL, m/z 246.20→147.00 for DEZ, m/z 201.10→94.90 for DEX, and m/z 326.10→291.10 for IS. Results This UPLC-MS/MS method had good linearity for CEL, DEZ and DEX. The RSDs of inter-day and intra-day precision were the values of 0.31–7.66% and 0.11–9.63%, respectively; the RE values were from −6.05% to 10.98%. The extraction recovery was more than 79%, and the matrix effect was around 100%. The RSDs of stability were less than 8.96%. All of them met the acceptance standard of biological analysis method recommended by FDA. Conclusion This UPLC-MS/MS method is an effective tool for the simultaneous determination of CEL, DEX and DEX, and has been successfully applied to the study of pharmacokinetics in beagle dogs.
