Abstract
Super-sensitive malathion detection was achieved using a nonenzymatic electrochemical sensor based on a CuO/ZnO-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Due to the high affinity between the Cu element and the sulfur groups in malathion, the developed CuO-ZnO/GCE sensor may bond malathion with ease, inhibiting the redox signal of the Cu element when malathion is present. In addition to significantly increasing the ability of electron transfer, the addition of 3D-flower-like ZnO enhances active sites of the sensor interface for the high affinity of malathion, giving the CuO-ZnO/GCE composite an exceptional level of sensitivity and selectivity. This enzyme-free CuO-ZnO/GCE malathion sensor demonstrates outstanding stability and excellent detection performance under optimal operating conditions with a wide linear range of malathion from 0 to 200 nM and a low detection limit of 1.367 nM. A promising alternative technique for organophosphorus pesticide (OP) determination is offered by the analytical performance of the proposed sensor, and this method can be quickly and sensitively applied to samples that have been contaminated with these pesticides.

Abstract
Emerging materials integrated into high performance flexible electronics to detect environmental contaminants have received extensive attention worldwide. The accurate detection of widespread organophosphorus (OP) compounds in the environment is crucial due to their high toxicity even at low concentrations, which leads to acute health concerns. Therefore, developing rapid, highly sensitive, reliable, and facile analytical sensing techniques is necessary to monitor environmental, ecological, and food safety risks. Although enzyme-based sensors have better sensitivity, their practical usage is hindered due to their low specificity and stability. Therefore, among various detection methods of OP compounds, this review article focuses on the progress made in the development of enzyme-free electrochemical sensors as an effective nostrum. Further, the novel materials used in these sensors and their properties, synthesis methodologies, sensing strategies, analytical methods, detection limits, and stability are discussed. Finally, this article summarizes potential avenues for future prospective electrochemical sensors and the current challenges of enhancing the performance, stability, and shelf life.

Abstract
Organophosphorus pesticides were easily remained in fruits and vegetables which would be harm to the environmental safety and human health. In recent years, due to the simple preparation process, fast response and high sensitivity, the electrochemical (bio)sensors have received increasing attention, which were extensively used as the sensing platform for the detection of OPPs. The mechanisms for the determination of OPPs mainly included redox of nitrophenyl OPPs, enzyme hydrolysis and inhibition, immunosensor, aptasensor. Nowadays, the mainly explored electrode material has focused on metal-organic frameworks, metal and metal derivatives, carbon materials (carbon nanotube, graphene, g-C3N4), MXene, etc. These nanomaterials played important roles in the electrochemical (bio)sensors, which included: (a) as an electrocatalyst to promote the redox reaction, (b) as a carrier to load the enzyme or aptamer, (c) as a recognizer to identify the targets. The nanomaterials-based electrochemical (bio)sensor was a rapid, cost-effective methods to detect OPPs with high sensitivity. Besides, this review compared the analytical performance of different nanomaterials-based electrochemical (bio)sensors, and also identified the key challenges in the future. It would provide new ideas and insights to the further development and application of electrochemical (bio)sensors and the detection of pesticides in real samples.

Abstract
This study reports the synthesis of zirconia nanoparticles loaded on various carbon substrates, namely, reduced graphene oxide (Zr-r-GO), carbon nanotubes (Zr-CNT), and activated carbon (Zr-AC). In addition, a composite of zirconia-iron mixed oxide loaded on activated carbon (FeZr-AC) was also synthesized. The materials were characterized using SEM-EDX, HRTEM, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, TGA and XRD. The FeZr-AC sample was found to have a nanorod like morphology. The samples were evaluated for their sensing potential towards methyl parathion (MP) using differential pulse voltammetry in a range of 0.0 V to -0.9 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) by drop casting on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). All the modified GCEs best operated at a working potential of 0.4-0.9 V vs. Ag/AgCl/Cl-. FeZr-AC was found have the best limit of detection followed by Zr-AC, Zr-CNT and Zr-r-GO with their detection limits being 1.7 × 10-9 M, 17.2 ×10-9 M, 243.3 × 10-9 M and 534.0 × 10-9 M respectively. These materials were then used to detect MP in spiked sewage samples and showed good recoveries.

Abstract
Mancozeb is a worldwide fungicide used on a large scale in agriculture. The active component and its main metabolite, ethylene thiourea, has been related to health issues. Robust, fast, and reliable methodologies to quantify its presence in water are of great importance for environmental and health reasons. The electrochemical evaluation of mancozeb using a low-cost electrochemical electrode modified with poly (3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene), multi-walled carbon nanotubes, and gold nanoparticles is a novel strategy to provide an in-situ response for water pollution from agriculture. Additionally, the thermal-, electrochemical-, and photo-degradation of mancozeb and the production of ethylene thiourea under controlled conditions were evaluated in this research. The mancozeb solutions were characterized by electrochemical oxidation and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, and the ethylene thiourea concentration was measured using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry. The degradation study of mancozeb may provide routes for treatment in wastewater treatment plants. Therefore, a low-cost electrochemical electrode was fabricated to detect mancozeb in water with a robust electrochemical response in the linear range as well as a quick response at a reduced volume. Hence, our novel modified electrode provides a potential technique to be used in environmental monitoring for pesticide detection.

Abstract
An electrochemical sensor for pesticide triazophos (TAP) was prepared by deposition of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) modified glassy carbon (GC) electrode surface using a potentiostatic method, followed by electropolymerizing of o-hydroxyphenol at the AuNP/CNT/GC electrode surface in the presence of template triazophos via cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical response of triazophos at the TAP-imprinted polyhydroxyphenol (PHP) modified AuNP/CNT/GC (PHP/AuNP/CNT/GC) electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The cyclic voltammetric response of triazophos at the TAP-imprinted PHP/AuNP/CNT/GC electrode was significantly higher than that at bare GC, CNT/GC, AuNP/CNT/GC, imprinted PHP/CNT/GC and non-imprinted PHP/AuNP/CNT/GC electrodes. The results indicated that the TAP-imprinted PHP/AuNP/CNT/GC electrode can effectively improve the reductive properties of triazophos and eliminate interferences of other pesticides. In addition, the AuNPs can strikingly amplify the electrochemical response of triazophos and improve the sensitivity to triazophos. Finally, the electrochemical sensor was successfully applied to determination of triazophos in vegetable samples with satisfactory results.
