Abstract
The smartphone-assisted ultrasensitive colorimetric aptasensor based on DNA-encoded porous Ti3C2 nanozyme (Apt-P-Ti3C2) was exploited for real-time detection of OA. Porous Ti3C2 (P-Ti3C2) MXene with outstanding peroxidase-like activities were crafted using microwave combustion, facilitating the efficient catalysis of chromogenic substrate oxidation by H2O2. The integration of a considerable number of unsaturated Ti center edges and residual Mn2+ within the single-layer porous Ti3C2 framework augmented the adsorption capacity of DNA aptamer, thereby yielding a heightened catalytic efficacy of P-Ti3C2 nanoparticles. The enhanced catalytic activity of P-Ti3C2 can be partially diminished through specific recognition of OA. Concurrently, a smartphone platform was integrated for signal reading based on the colorimetric sensing strategy. The smartphone-based biosensor exhibited a reliable and ultrasensitive capability for OA detection with the detection limit of 0.38 ng·mL-1. It is anticipated that the developed smartphone-based biosensing platform can provide a prospective ultrasensitive detection method for marine algal toxin in food analysis.

Abstract
Marine toxins can lead to varying degrees of human poisoning, often resulting in fatal symptoms and causing significant economic losses in seafood-producing regions. To gain a deeper comprehension of the role of marine toxins in seafood and their impact on the environment, it is imperative to develop rapid, cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and efficient methods for sample pretreatment and determination to mitigate adverse impacts of marine toxins. This review presents a comprehensive overview of advancements made in sample pretreatment and determination techniques for marine toxins since 2017. The advantages and disadvantages of various technologies were critically examined. Additionally, the current challenges and future development strategies for the analysis of marine toxins are provided.

Abstract
Seafood products are globally consumed, and there is an increasing demand for the quality and safety of these products among consumers. Some seafoods are easily contaminated by marine biotoxins in natural environments or cultured farming processes. When humans ingest different toxins accumulated in seafood, they may exhibit different poisoning symptoms. According to the investigations, marine toxins produced by harmful algal blooms and various other marine organisms mainly accumulate in the body organs such as liver and digestive tract of seafood animals. Several regions around the world have reported incidents of seafood poisoning by biotoxins, posing a threat to human health. Thus, most countries have legislated to specify the permissible levels of these biotoxins in seafood. Therefore, it is necessary for seafood producers and suppliers to conduct necessary testing of toxins in seafood before and after harvesting to prohibit excessive toxins containing seafood from entering the market, which therefore can reduce the occurrence of seafood poisoning incidents. In recent years, some technologies which can quickly, conveniently, and sensitively detect biological toxins in seafood, have been developed and validated, these technologies have the potential to help seafood producers, suppliers and regulatory authorities. This article reviews the seafood toxins sources and types, mechanism of action and bioaccumulation of marine toxins, as well as legislation and rapid detection technologies for biotoxins in seafood for official and fishermen supervision.

Abstract
Okadaic acid (OA) biotoxin acts a well-established inhibitor of protein phosphatase even a tumor promoter of human being, arouse great attention in safety monitoring. However, the powerful and convenient nanosensing technologies for addressing the demands such as rapidity, high sensitivity, and stability in the in-field test of OA shellfish toxin is still scarce. Herein, a high-performance magnetic biometric nanosensor (MBNS) integrating oriented aptamers and ultrasensitive laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) was firstly proposed for the in-field detection of trace OA in seafoods. High-density aptamers hybridized with FAM-labeled cDNA were tethered to the surface of AuNPs on magnetic MIL-101@Fe3O4, and then finely regulated by mercaptohexyl alcohol (MCH) to be orderly assembled, as was successfully utilized to engineer an active biological nanosensor for highly specific recognition of OA. Aptamers anchored on magnetic Fe3O4@MOF@AuNPs activate a biometric microreactor of OA, in which the superior LIF properties, conformation regulation of aptamer, and the specific recognition using aptamer genes were adopted. The magnetic nanosensor with an excellent specificity and super sensitivity for OA analysis was achieved within 20 min. Moreover, the content of captured OA could facilely be recorded by measuring the fluorescence intensity, and the limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantitation of OA (LOQ) reached 0.015 and 0.050 ng/mL respectively, which was far better than most aptamer-based biometric sensing methods. The feasibility for accurate test of trace OA toxin in the fortified shellfish samples was validated with the recovery yields of 88.2-107.5% and RSD of 0.5-7.6%, respectively. The result demonstrated that the oriented-aptamer encoded MNS had significant practical values in rapid and ultrasensitive detection of OA biotoxin and the related safety applications.

Abstract
The existence of cyanotoxins poses serious threats to human health, it is highly desirable to develop specific and sensitive methods for rapid detection of cyanotoxins in food and water. Due to the distinct advantages of aptamer including high specificity, good stability and easy preparation, various aptamer-based sensors (aptasensors) have been proposed to promote the detection of cyanotoxins. In this review, we summarize recent advance in optical and electrochemical aptasensors for cyanotoxins sensing by integrating with versatile nanomaterials or innovative sensing strategies, such as colorimetric aptasensors, fluorescent aptasensors, surface enhancement Raman spectroscopy-based aptasensors, voltammetric aptasensors, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy-based aptasensors and photoelectrochemical aptasensors. We highlight the accomplishments and advancements of aptasensors with improved performance. Furthermore, the current challenges and future prospects in cyanotoxins detection are discussed from our perspectives, which we hope to provide more ideas for future researchers.

Abstract
Shellfish toxins, as one kind of marine toxin, have attracted worldwide attention due to their severe threat to food safety and human health. Therefore, it is highly essential and urgent to develop a low-cost and convenient method to detect these toxins. With the rapid advance in microfabrication processes, micro/nano biosensors provide novel approaches to address this issue. In addition to their features of low cost, portability, easy operation, high efficiency and high bioactivity, micro/nano biosensors have great potential to realize on-the-spot, rapid detection of shellfish toxins. This review focuses on the most recent advances in the development of micro/nano biosensors for shellfish toxin detection. These biosensors are mainly classified into five categories according to their transducer detection principles, which include optical devices, electrochemical sensors, electrochemiluminescence, field-effect transistors, and acoustic devices. Sensor strategies, toxin analytes, biosensitive elements, coupling methods and field detection performance are highlighted to discuss the applications of shellfish toxin detection. With advances in sensor technology, biomaterials, microfabrication and miniaturized electronics, micro/nano biosensors applied to in-field fast detection of shellfish toxins are expected to play a critical role in food safety, environmental monitoring, and foreign trade in the foreseeable future. Finally, the current challenges and future development trends of micro/nano biosensors for shellfish toxin detection are discussed.

Abstract
With harmful algal blooms, marine food poisoning caused by marine biotoxins frequently occurs and is life-threatening if severe. However, the conventional detection methods of marine toxins have a few limitations: low sensitivity and high-cost. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a fast and sensitive on-site detection method for real seafood sample. Biosensors based on aptamers, antibodies, and cells have been applied in marine toxins monitoring. This review presents the classification and toxic effects of marine toxins, and recent biosensor for marine toxin detection. In addition, we have compared the superiority and limitation of these biosensors. Finally, challenges and opportunities of biosensors in food safety detection were discussed. Considering the excellent results achieved by the aptasensor in the field of detection, it seems ready to be put into practical applications.

Abstract
A sensitive fluorescent DNA hydrogel aptasensor based on the self-assembly of rolling circle amplification (RCA) products was developed for ochratoxin A (OTA) detection in beer. A competitive binding mode of aptamer, complementary sequence, and target was integrated into the DNA hydrogel for OTA detection. The OTA aptamer first combined with the primer to form the hybridized product. Then, in the presence of OTA, the aptamer combined with OTA, which released the primer. The released primer hybridized with the padlock probe to form a circular template, and the RCA reaction was initiated by adding ligase, polymerase, and dNTPs. The fluorescent DNA hydrogel was obtained by adding Cy3-dUTP together with dNTPs, and the fluorescence (FL) intensity of the DNA hydrogel was positively correlated with OTA concentration. Under the optimal experimental conditions, the linear range of the relationship varied from 0.05 ng/mL to 100 ng/mL with a detection limit for OTA of 0.01 ng/mL. The fluorescent DNA hydrogel aptasensor showed good specificity and stability in beer samples. Therefore, the fabricated DNA hydrogel aptasensor shows considerable potential applications in detecting OTA for food safety.

Abstract
Techniques that are sensitive to detect mercury ion (Hg2+) are very important, due to its serious threat to public health and food security. In this work, a colorimetric aptasensor was fabricated for the detection of Hg2+ based on rolling circle amplification (RCA). The aptamer was immobilized onto the microplate and hybridized with its complementary strand (cDNA1) which linked with a primer for triggering the RCA reaction of circular template. The successfully RCA process led to the formation of long ssDNA chains on the microplate, which created many hybridized DNA fragments for bio-cDNA2. The tagged amount of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was enhanced through the avidin/biotin binding between avi-HRP and bio-cDNA2. In the addition of TMB-H2O2, HRP was catalyzed and generated an optical signal. However, in the presence of target, Hg2+ specifically and preferentially bound with aptamer and formed a strong and stable T-Hg2+-T complex, which led to the release of cDNA1 and HRP cluster. Consequently, the optical signal decreased. Our results showed that the limit of detection (LOD) of this system was 1.6 nM with excellent specificity, and that the detection signals were enhanced by up to 18 times under RCA conditions when compared with detections without RCA. This method has been successfully used to detect Hg2+ in water samples with a recovery of 98%-105.74%.

Abstract
Marine biotoxins distribute widely, have high toxicity, and can be easily accumulated in water or seafood, exposing a serious threat to consumer health. Achieving specific and sensitive detection is the most effective way to prevent emergent issues caused by marine biotoxins; however, the previous detection methods cannot meet the requirements because of ethical or technical drawbacks. Aptamers, a kind of novel recognition element with high affinity and specificity, can be used to fabricate various aptasensors (aptamer-based biosensors) for sensitive and rapid detection. In recent years, an increasing number of aptamers and aptasensors have greatly promoted the development of marine biotoxins detection. In this review, we summarized the recent aptamer-related advances for marine biotoxins detection and discussed their perspectives. Firstly, we summarized the sequences, selection methods, affinity, secondary structures, and the ion conditions of all aptamers to provide a database-like information; secondly, we summarized the reported aptasensors for marine biotoxins, including principles, detection sensitivity, linear detection range, etc.; thirdly, on the basis of the existing reports and our own research experience, we forecast the development prospects of aptamers and aptasensors for marine biotoxins detection. We hope this review not only provides a comprehensive summary of aptamer selection and aptasensor development for marine biotoxins, but also arouses a broad readership amongst academic researchers and industrial chemists.
