Abstract
A novel molecularly imprinted nanomaterial (Eu (BTC)-MPS@MIP) was synthesized on the surface of silanized europium-based metal-organic frameworks (Eu (BTC)-MPS) using 1, 3, 5-benzotrioic acid (H3BTC) as a ligand. The resulting Eu (BTC)-MPS@MIP was applied to constructing a smartphone sensing platform for the sensitive and selective detection of clothianidin (CLT) in vegetables. The synthesized Eu (BTC)-MPS@MIP demonstrated the successful formation of a typical core-shell structure featuring a shell thickness of approximately 70 - 80 nm. The developed sensing platform based on Eu (BTC)-MPS@MIP exhibited sensitivity in CLT detection with a detection limit of 4 µg/L and a linear response in the range 0.01 - 10 mg/L at excitation and emission wavelengths of 365 nm and 617 nm, respectively. The fluorescence sensing platform displayed excellent specificity for CLT detection, as evidenced by a high imprinting factor of 3.1. This specificity is primarily attributed to the recognition sites in the molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) layer. When applied to spiked vegetable samples, the recovery of CLT ranged from 78.9 to 102.0%, with relative standard deviation (RSD) values falling between 2.2 and 6.2%. The quenching mechanism of Eu (BTC)-MPS@MIP toward CLT can be attributed to the inner filter effect (IFE), resulting from the optimal spectral overlap between the absorption spectrum of CLT and the excitation spectra of Eu (BTC)-MPS@MIP. The proposed method has the potential for extension to the detection of other pesticides by replacing the MIP recognition probes.

Abstract
A chitin-based magnetic hyper-cross-linked polymer (labeled as Ch-MHCP) has been successfully synthesized and utilized for highly-effective solid-phase extraction of neonicotinoid insecticides (NEOs). The extraction capability of Ch-MHCP for four common NEOs is higher than that of four commercial sorbents including octadecyl-silane C18, oasis hydrophilic/lipophilic balanced sorbent, oasis mixed anion sorbent and poly-phenylacetic mixed anion sorbent. The large number of hydroxyl and amide groups as well as benzene rings in Ch-MHCP allow the H-bond and π-π* interaction to be the principal adsorption mechanism of Ch-MHCP for NEOs. Besides, polar interaction was also involved in the adsorption process. In combination of Ch-MHCP based extraction technique with high-performance liquid chromatography, a novel analytical method for sensitive detection of NEOs in lemon juice and tomatoes has been established. At optimal conditions, wide linear ranges were obtained to be 0.20-100 ng mL-1 for lemon juice and 0.80-1000 ng g-1 for tomatoes. The detection limits were 0.06-0.12 ng mL-1 for lemon juice and 0.24-0.60 ng g-1 for tomatoes. This work not only provides a powerful tool for simultaneously detecting four NEOs in lemon juice and tomatoes, but also offers a new insight into the preparation of bio-based magnetic sorbents for adsorption/removal of pollutants.

Abstract
Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) is a sample pretreatment technique for enrichment of trace level of compounds from complex matrices. The fiber coating, as an extraction phase, is the significant part of SPME, which specifying the analytical performance of the developed SPME. In this study, a novel in situ fabricated Cu@porous carbon fiber that derived from copper benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate framework@pencil graphite (Cu-BDC MOF@PG) fiber was prepared as a SPME fiber. The Cu-BDC MOF was electrodeposited on the surface of pencil graphite. The Cu@porous carbon fiber with nanoporous structure was constructed by the direct carbonization of the electrosynthesized fiber. The Cu@porous carbon fiber showed high analytical performance for direct immersion SPME (DI-SPME) of acetamiprid and imidacloprid in fruit and vegetable samples. The SPME method was coupled by high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection (SPME-HPLC-UV) for determination of the analytes. Under the optimized condition, good linear ranges (1-500 μg L-1 and 0.5-200 μg L-1) and acceptable limits of detection (LODs = 0.30 and 0.15 μg L-1), appropriate spiking recoveries in the range 87-109.0% were attained for acetamiprid and imidacloprid, respectively. Intra- and inter-day relative standard deviations were found within the ranges of 2.35-3.46% and 3.30-3.70%, respectively. These results signify promising potential of the in situ fabricated porous carbon fiber for SPME applications. Considering that most of the pencil graphite is made of carbon, after the carbonization of the Cu-BDC MOF@PG fiber, a unified porous carbon fiber is obtained. Compared to other reported procedures, in situ direct carbonization of Cu-BDC MOF@PG fiber was a one-step and straightforward method to fabricate carbon fiber.

Abstract
There is an urgent need to prepare advanced functional materials for extraction and enrichment of trace organic pollutants from different samples. In this work, two novel phosphate-functionalized porous organic polymers (DBP-POP and DPP-POP) were synthesized for the first time. Compared with phosphate-free counterpart, both phosphate-functionalized POPs showed excellent adsorption performance for the neonicotinoids due to the hydrogen bonding, π-π interaction and hydrophobic interaction. For ease of separating the sorbent from solution, magnetic DBP-POP (M-DBP-POP) was further prepared as sorbent to extract neonicotinoids from environmental water and lemon juice samples prior to their determination by high performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection. Under optimal conditions, the detection limits (S/N = 3) of the method were 0.01-0.08 ng mL-1 for water and 0.03-0.10 ng mL-1 for lemon juice. The recoveries were in the range of 80.0% to 113.0% with relative standard deviation less than 10.6%. This work demonstrated the feasibility of phosphate-functionalized POPs for adsorption applications.

Abstract
As being widely used insecticides, neonicotinoid residues are toxic and harmful to human health and aquatic ecosystems. Thus, the sensitive monitoring of neonicotinoids in water and food samples is highly desirable to reduce their risks to humans. Herein, four novel hydroxyl-functionalized nanoporous organic frameworks (OH-NOP1, OH-NOP2, OH-NOP3 and OH-NOP4) with tunable hydrophilic-hydrophobic surface have been designed and fabricated for the first time by employing luteolin as monomer and 4,4'-bis(chloromethyl)-1,1'-biphenyl as crosslinker at the molar ratio of 3:1, 1:1, 1:3 and 1:6, respectively. When the molar ratio of luteolin to crosslinker was 1:3, OH-NOP3 was obtained and it presented the highest affinity with excellent adsorption performance towards the studied neonicotinoids. The adsorption mechanism was proposed to be the strong hydrogen bond, polar interaction, Lewis acid-base interaction and pore adsorption between OH-NOP3 and neonicotinoids. Then, utilizing OH-NOP3 as sorbent for solid phase extraction cartridges, an effective method for extraction and preconcentration of neonicotinoids followed by high performance liquid chromatography analysis has been developed for quantitative detection of neonicotinoids from water and edible fungi. The method provided good linearity over the range of 0.06-100.0 ng mL-1 for lake water, 1.5-100.0 ng g-1 for pleurotus eryngii and sea-shroom. Low detection limit (at the signal to noise ratio of 3) was achieved in the range of 0.02-0.08 ng mL-1 for water, 0.50-0.60 ng g-1 for pleurotus eryngii and 0.50-0.80 ng g-1 for sea-shroom, while the limit of quantification was 0.06-0.25 ng mL-1, 1.50-1.80 ng g-1 and 1.50-2.50 ng g-1, respectively. Satisfactory method recoveries (85.1-112%) were obtained, with relative standard deviations below 8.2%. This study offered a new strategy for designing efficient sorbents to adsorb or remove organic pollutants based on the structure and properties of substrates.

Abstract
Natural rutin with abundant hydroxyl groups was used as a green monomer to synthesize hydroxyl-functional magnetic porous organic polymer (named Rut-MOP) through environmentally-benign diazo-coupling reaction for the first time. The Rut-MOP displayed high extraction capability for neonicotinoid insecticides (thiamethoxam, imidacloprid, acetamiprid and thiacloprid). Thus, a Rut-MOP based magnetic solid-phase extraction method combined with high performance liquid chromatography was established for sensitive determination of neonicotinoid insecticides in lemon juice and honey samples. Under optimized conditions, the linear response of neonicotinoids was 0.1-100.0 ng mL-1 for lemon juice and 8.0-1000.0 ng g-1 for honey. The limits of detection (S/N = 3) were 0.03-0.04 ng mL-1 and 2.5-3.0 ng g-1 for lemon juice and honey, respectively. The method recoveries were 82-118% with the relative standard deviations of 1.9-7.6%. The results demonstrate that the Rut-MOP based method can be served as a good alternative for the sensitive analysis of neonicotinoid insecticides in lemon juice and honey.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of a novel titania/silica hybrid xerogel subsequently modified with 4-methylpyridine (4-Pic), named TiSi4Pic+Cl- is reported. The physicochemical, structural and thermal properties of TiSi4Pic+Cl- were characterized using several techniques. Anchoring cobalt(II) phthalocyanine (CoTsPc) in TiSi4Pic+Cl- showed greater electroanalytical sensitivity over other sensors built with these materials. A novel electroanalytical method was developed to quantify the noxious biocide pentachlorophenol (PCP) for environmental monitoring. The peak current intensity increased linearly with the analyte concentration in the range between 0.99 and 4.21 μmol L-1, based on the oxidation process (at + 0.81 V, vs. Ag/AgCl) of differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The estimated limit of detection (LOD) was 29 nmol L-1. Recovery tests in environmental samples showed a PCP concentration of 2.05 ± 0.03 μmol L-1 (n = 3). The method was statistically validated by comparing the PCP concentrations with those obtained by molecular absorption spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD). At a 95% confidence level, no difference between the results was found, therefore confirming the excellent accuracy of the proposed method.

Abstract
An economical and effective thin film microextraction (TFME) for simultaneous analysis of ten neonicotinoid insecticides and metabolites in fruit juice and tea, was developed based on the combination of polyurethane (PU) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) films as the sorbent followed by ultra high performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry. The PU/PMMA composite was evidenced to possess rapid adsorption and strong accumulation towards neonicotinoids compared with the films used alone. A series of parameters were optimized, and the agitation mode, film size, ionic strength, desorption solvent and sample pH were found to dominate the microextraction process rather than the extraction temperature, agitation time and sample volume. The thin films are cost effective and efficient for single use analysis, but still can be reused at least 8 times with no significant loss in performance. The ten neonicotinoids were measured with good recoveries (81.1-107.9%), high enrichment factors (up to 135), low limits of detection (0.001-0.1 µg L-1), and wide linearity range (1-500 µg L-1, r2>0.9981) in fruit juice (apple, lemon, and pomegranate) and tea (green tea and black tea) samples. The proposed method was successfully applied to commercial fruit and tea drinks, and no samples were tested positive on target neonicotinoids. The PU/PMMA based TFME has shown great potential as an alternative to exhaustive extraction techniques for routine screening of trace neonicotinoids in fruit juice and tea by simplifying the analytical procedure, shortening the operation time, and lowering the material expense.

Abstract
In this study, a magnetic porphyrin-based porous organic polymer (MP-POP) nanocomposite was successfully synthesized according previous studies and applied as an adsorbent for simultaneous extraction and preconcentration of four neonicotinoid insecticides from surface river water. The MP-POP was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDS), N2-adsorption/desorption analysis, Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The neonicotinoid insecticides were quantified using high performance chromatography coupled with diode array detector (HPLC-DAD). The MP-POP shown to have a high surface area, highly porous structure and strong affinity toward the investigated analytes. The adsorption capacities were 99.0, 85.5, 90.0, and 79.4 mg g-1 for acetamiprid, clothiandin, thiacloprid and imidacloprid, respectively. The influential parameters affecting the magmatic μ-solid phase extraction (M-μ-SPE) procedure were investigated using fractional factorial design and surface response methodology (RSM). Under optimum conditions, the method exhibited relatively low limit of detection in the range of 1.3-3.2 ng L-1, limit of quantification in the range of 4.3-11 ng L-1 and wide linearity (up to 600 μg L-1). The intraday and interday precision, expressed as the relative standard deviation (RSD) were <5%. The percentage recoveries for the four target analytes ranged from 91 to 99.3% for the spiked river water samples. The method was applied for determination of neonicotinoids in river water samples and concentrations ranged from 0 to 190 ng L-1.

Abstract
Metal-organic coordination polymer beads (MOCBs) are described for use as a sorbent for solid-phase extraction of chlorophenoxy herbides. By applying regulation of Co(II) ions, micro-sized monodisperse MOCBs were obtained through the microwave heating. The MOCBs-based method displays excellent extraction efficiency towards chlorophenoxy herbicides, specifically of 2-chlorophenoxyacetic acid, 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid, 4-chloromethylphenoxyacetic acid, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid and 2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)propionic acid. Following extraction, the herbicides were eluted with 8% formic acid in methanol and quantified by HPLC. The method, when applied to analyze spiked cereals, exhibits a wide linear range (from 0.6 to 1000 ng g-1) and low limits of quantification (ranging from 0.10 to 0.25 ng g-1). For a single column, the inter-day and intra-day precisions, expressed as the relative standard deviation are in the range of 2.5-6.8%. The batch-to-batch reproducibility (for n = 3) is <4.6%. For spiked cereal samples, relative recoveries are very good (90.3-102.3%, for n = 4). The extraction efficiency of MOCBs remains unchanged after reusing for 40 times.
