Abstract
In this study, a straightforward electrochemical aptasensor was developed to detect sulfadimethoxine (SDM). It included a glassy carbon electrode decorated by boron nitride quantum dots (BNQDs) and aptamer-functionalized nanoporous carbon (APT/CZ). CZ was first synthesized by calcinating a zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8). Then, the electroactive dye methylene blue (MB) was entrapped inside its pores. By attaching aptamer to the CZ surface, APT/CZ acted as a bioguard, which prevented the MB release. Therefore, the electrochemical signal of the entrapped MB was high in the absence of SDM. Introducing SDM caused the conformation of aptamers to change, and a large number of MB was released, which was removed by washing. Therefore, the detection strategy was done based on the change in the electrochemical signal intensity of MB. The aptasensor was applied to detect SDM at a concentration range of 10-17 to 10-7 M with a detection limit of 3.6 × 10-18 M.

Abstract
Electrochemical biosensors, known for their low cost, sensitivity, selectivity, and miniaturization capabilities, are ideal for point-of-care devices. The magnetic metal-organic framework (MMOF), synthesized using the in-situ growth method, consists of ferric salt, magnetic nanoparticles, histidine, and benzene tetracarboxylic acid. MMOF was sequentially modified with aptamer-biotin and streptavidin-horseradish peroxidase, serving as a detector for spike protein and a transducer converting electrochemical signals using H2O2-hydroquinone on a screen-printed electrode. MMOF facilitates easy washing and homogeneous deposition on the working electrode with a magnet, enhancing sensitivity and reducing noise. The physical and electrochemical properties of the modified MMOFs were thoroughly characterized using various analytical techniques. The aptasensors' performance achieved a detection limit of 6 pM for voltammetry and 5.12 pM for impedance spectroscopy in human serum samples. This cost-effective, portable MMOF platform is suitable for rapid point-of-care testing for SARS-CoV-2 spike proteins.

Abstract
A thrombin-activity-based electrochemiluminescence (ECL) biosensor was successfully constructed using tungsten oxide quantum dots (WO3-x QDS) as the co-reactant and thrombin-cleavable peptides as the recognizer. Specifically, Ru(bpy)32+ were doped on silica nanoparticles (Ru@SiO2), which greatly enhanced the ECL potential. AuNPs@WO3-x QDs composite was then prepared to accelerate electron transfer and improve the ECL signal by 219 times. Under ideal conditions, the limit of detection for thrombin in serum was determined to be 0.28 μU/mL with a linear range from 1 μU/mL to 1 U/mL. In addition, the developed ECL biosensor was used to screen for thrombin inhibitors from 12 compounds in Artemisiae Argyi Folium. Among the compounds tested, it was observed that 100 μmol/L luteolin exhibited a significantly higher inhibition rate (exceeding 80%) compared to apigenin, isorhamnetin, naringin, or eriodictyol. In an in-vitro anticoagulation experiment, luteolin (100 μmol/L) prolonged APTT by 49%, and the molecular docking assay indicated that luteolin had binding sites of Gly219 and Asp189 in the active pockets of thrombin. This may have been the main reason underpinning luteolin's anticoagulation effects. Overall, the Ru@WO3-x QDS ECL biosensor provided a reliable strategy for thrombin activity assay and screening of anticoagulant agents.

Abstract
An essential tool in the management and control of the COVID-19 pandemic is the development of a fast, selective, sensitive, and inexpensive COVID-19 biomarkers detection method. Herein, an ultrasensitive and label-free biosensing strategy was described for the colorimetric and fluorimetric detection of thrombin. A dual-mode aptasensing method based on integrating engineered ssDNA with a stimulated fluorescent enzyme-mimetic copper-based metal-organic framework (Cu-MOF) as a molecular recognition element for thrombin was investigated. Cu-MOFs displayed stimulated fluorescence and enzyme-mimetic peroxidase activities that oxidize the chromogenic colorless substance TMB to blue-colored oxTMB. The thrombin-based aptamer (ssDNA) can be immobilized on the Cu-MOF surface to form a functionalized composite, ssDNA/MOF, and quench the stimulated fluorescence emission and the enzymatic activity of the Cu-MOF. Later, addition of thrombin recovers the fluorescence and enzymatic activity of the MOF. Thus, a turn-on colorimetry/fluorimetry aptasensing probe was designed for the detection of thrombin. Based on colorimetric assay, 350 pM was recorded as the lower limit of detection (LOD), while based on the fluorescence mode, 110 fM was recorded as the LOD (when S/N = 3). The label-free aptasensing probe was used successfully for the detection of thrombin in COVID-19 patients with satisfactory recoveries, 95-98%. Since the detection time of our aptasensor is relatively rapid (45 min) and due to the low-cost precursors and easy-to-operate characteristics, we believe that it has great potential to be used in point-of-care testing (POCT).

Abstract
Thrombin is a serine protease with an essential role in homeostasis and blood coagulation. During vascular injuries, thrombin is generated from prothrombin, a plasma protein, to polymerize fibrinogen molecules into fibrin filaments. Moreover, thrombin is a potent stimulant for platelet activation, which causes blood clots to prevent bleeding. The rapid and sensitive detection of thrombin is important in biological analysis and clinical diagnosis. Hence, various biosensors for thrombin measurement have been developed. Biosensors are devices that produce a quantifiable signal from biological interactions in proportion to the concentration of a target analyte. An aptasensor is a biosensor in which a DNA or RNA aptamer has been used as a biological recognition element and can identify target molecules with a high degree of sensitivity and affinity. Designed biosensors could provide effective methods for the highly selective and specific detection of thrombin. This review has attempted to provide an update of the various biosensors proposed in the literature, which have been designed for thrombin detection. According to their various transducers, the constructions and compositions, the performance, benefits, and restrictions of each are summarized and compared.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Advancement in coordination chemistry has achieved an impressive development of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) as the supramolecular hybrid materials, comprising harmonized metal nodes with organic ligands. Scope and approach: MOFs offer the unique properties of easy synthesis, nanoscale structure, adjustable size and morphology, high porosity, large surface area, supreme chemical tunability and stability, and biocompatibility. The features provide an exceptional opportunity for the widely usage of MOFs in the different scientific fields, e.g. biomedicine, electrocatalysis, food safety, energy storage, environmental surveillance, and biosensing platforms. The synergistic incorporation of the aptamer advantages and the superiorities of MOFs attains the novel MOF-based aptasensors. The excellent selectivity and sensitivity of the MOF-based aptasensors nominate them as efficient lab-on-chip tools for cost-effective, label-free, portable, and real-time monitoring of diverse targets. KEY FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS Here, we review the achievements in the sensor design by cooperation of MOF motifs and aptamers with the conspicuous potential of determining the targets. Finally, some results are expressed that provide a valuable viewpoint for developing the novel MOF-based test strips in the future.

Abstract
This paper focuses on the current state of art as well as on future trends in electrochemical aptasensors application in medical diagnostics. The origin of aptamers is presented along with the description of the process known as SELEX. This is followed by the description of the broad spectrum of aptamer-based sensors for the electrochemical detection of various diagnostically relevant analytes, including metal cations, abused drugs, neurotransmitters, cancer, cardiac and coagulation biomarkers, circulating tumor cells, and viruses. We described also possible future perspectives of aptasensors development. This concerns (i) the approaches to lowering the detection limit and improvement of the electrochemical aptasensors selectivity by application of the hybrid aptamer-antibody receptor layers and/or nanomaterials; and (ii) electrochemical aptasensors integration with more advanced microfluidic devices as user-friendly medical instruments for medical diagnostic of the future.

Abstract
A simple homogeneous electrochemical aptasensor was designed by using target-responsive substrate releasing from aptamer-gated zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8)-derived porous carbon nanocontainer. The nanocontainer (Z-700) was prepared by calcination of ZIF-8 at 700 °C. Z-700 had great biocompatibility, high surface areas and pore volume, especially the graphene-like π-rich structure, which was beneficial for adsorbing aptamer easily. The electroactive dyes methylene blue (MB) was then trapped in the pores of Z-700 and easily capped with aptamer as gatekeeper based on π-stacking interaction. Upon addition of target protein thrombin (Thb), the Thb could specifically recognize and combine with its aptamer to form complex. Thereafter, the aptamer bio-gate opened and the MB released from the pores, which could be detected on the screen-printed electrode. Under the optimized conditions, the proposed Thb aptasensor showed a wide detection range from 1 fM to 1 nM with a low detection limit of 0.57 fM. The strategy by using ZIF-8-derived porous carbon and aptamer bio-gate provides a promising scheme for developing simple, rapid, reliable and ultrasensitive bioassays, which has a great potential as a powerful tool in disease diagnosis and biomedicine.

Abstract
Near-well blockage caused by asphaltene deposition often occurs during the process of crude oil exploitation. It can reduce the porosity and permeability of reservoirs and seriously affects the migration and exploitation of oil and gas. In this paper, removing near-well blockage caused by asphaltene deposition using sonochemical method is investigated. Six PTZ transducers with different parameters are used to study the deplugging effect. Results show that the optimal ultrasonic frequency and power for plugging removal are 20 kHz and 1000 W respectively. it is found that lower ultrasonic frequency is good for asphaltene deposition plug removal when ultrasonic power is constant; as the power of the sensor increases, the effect of removing the asphaltene deposition plug gets better, ultrasonic power can well make up for the attenuation of ultrasonic energy caused as frequency increases; the effects of removing asphaltene deposition plug for the three cores with different initial gas logging permeability all get worse no matter what type of transducer is used; the effect of asphaltene deposition plug removal for the three cores samples all become better and then tend to be stable as ultrasonic treatment time increases further; considering of reducing construction cost and oil reservoir protection, ultrasonic processing has a lot of unexampled advantages compared with chemical injection, such as good adaptability, low cost, simple operation, non-pollution and benefit for the sustainable development of oil field; affected by the synergistic effect of ultrasonic and chemical agents, the combined treatment effect of ultrasound and chemical agents is significantly better than using ultrasound or chemical agents alone.

Abstract
The development of sensitive and convenient detection methods to monitor thrombin without the use of enzymes or complex nanomaterials is highly desirable for the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. In this article, tetraferrocene was first synthesized and then a sensitive and homogeneous electrochemical aptasensor was developed for thrombin detection based on host-guest recognition between tetraferrocene and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD). In the absence of thrombin, the double stem-loop of thrombin aptamer (TBA) prevented tetraferrocenes labeled at both ends from entering the cavity of β-CD deposited on gold electrode surface. After binding with thrombin, the stem-loop structure of TBA opened and transformed into special G-quarter structure, forcing tetraferrocene into the cavity of β-CD. As a result, thrombin allowed eight ferrocene molecules to reach the gold electrode surface, greatly amplifying the response signal. The obtained aptasensors showed dynamic detection range from 4 pM to 12.5 nM with detection limit around 1.2 pM. Overall, the results indicate that the proposed aptasensors are promising for future rapid clinical detection of thrombin and development of signal amplification strategies for detection of various proteins.
