Abstract
Every year, millions of people suffer from gastrointestinal inflammation caused by E. coli. The increase of antibiotic-resistant strains and similar inflammatory and infectious syndromes symptoms have made rapid and sensitive diagnosis of this pathogen challenging. This study developed a Field-Effect Transistor based on deep eutectic solvents, graphene oxide, and gold nanoparticles (DES/GO/AuNPs-FET) to detect E. coli. Comparing the output current showed DES, which was a mixture of ethylene glycol and choline chloride, with ionic behavior, in addition to improving the electrical properties of GO, also led to the formation of AuNPs by self-assembly, which significantly increased the sensor's sensing performance. E. coli lipopolysaccharide aptamer immobilized on DES/GO/AuNPs-FET; capturing E. coli and changing the conformation caused changes in the charge carrier flow in the FET. This nanobiosensor detected E. coli in a completely selective manner in complex matrices like human blood serum. The excellent sensing performance of this nanobiosensor compared to other biosensors with a low detection limit (LOD = 3 CFU/ml), label-free, fast, and real-time detection showed that DES/GO/AuNPs-FET could be a reliable alternative to existing detection methods.

Abstract
A novel electrochemical sensor-based glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was fabricated and applied to simultaneous detection and degradation of tebuconazole (TBZ) for the first time. The GCE was consecutively modified by multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), bismuth oxybromide (BiOBr), ꞵ-cyclodextrin (ꞵ-CD), and in situ addition of tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBABr). The detection was based on the decreasing of Bi signal at its anodic potential (Epa) of 0.05 V. Under the optimum conditions, the modified electrode exhibited a linear response to TBZ in the concentration range 1-100 μg L-1 with a detection limit of 0.9 μg L-1. TBZ was firstly adsorbed on the surface of the modified electrode through host-guest molecule interactions of the ꞵ-CD. The adsorption was further enhanced by the large surface area of BiOBr and MWCNTs. The adsorbed TBZ on the electrode surface hindered the electron transfer of Bi, thus decreasing the oxidation of Bi. In addition, the in situ addition of tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBABr) enriched TBZ via electrostatic interactions, increasing its detection sensitivity. The fabricated electrochemical sensor was applied to determine TBZ in water and soil samples from rice fields with recoveries of 80.5-100.5% and 87.6-112%, respectively. Furthermore, the degradation of TBZ on the modified electrode was studied under a solar light simulator. The degradation percentage (100%) of TBZ (50 µg L-1) was achieved in 5 min owing to the excellent photocatalytic properties of BiOBr.

Abstract
Electropolymerized thionine was used as a redox-active polymer to create a two-mediated microbial biosensor for determining biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). The electrochemical characteristics of the conducting system were studied by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. It has been shown that the most promising in terms of the rate of interaction with the yeast B. adeninivorans is the system based on poly(thionine), single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT), and neutral red (kint = 0.071 dm3/(g·s)). The biosensor based on this system is characterized by high sensitivity (the lower limit of determined BOD concentrations is 0.4 mgO2/dm3). Sample analysis by means of the developed analytical system showed that the results of the standard dilution method and those using the biosensor differed insignificantly. Thus, for the first time, the fundamental possibility of effectively using nanocomposite materials based on SWCNT and the redox-active polymer poly(thionine) as one of the components of two-mediator systems for electron transfer from yeast microorganisms to the electrode has been shown. It opens up prospects for creating stable and highly sensitive electrochemical systems based on eukaryotes.

Abstract
Introduction: In clinical work, the realization of an early diagnosis of Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is primarily based on conventional computed tomography (CT), MR angiography, transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound, and neurological assessments. However, the association between imaging manifestations and clinical findings is insufficiently perfect, particularly in SAH patients in acute phases with a lower amount of blood. The establishment of a direct, rapid and ultra-sensitive detection method based on electrochemical biosensors has emerged as a new competitive challenge in disease biomarkers research. Methods: In this study, a novel free-labeled electrochemical immunosensor for rapidly and sensitively detecting IL-6 in subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) blood has been developed using Au nanospheres-thionine composites (AuNPs/THI) as the interface modified on the electrode. Then, we detected IL-6 in blood samples from SAH patients by (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) ELISA and electrochemical immunosensor. Results: Under the best conditions, the developed electrochemical immunosensor exhibited a wide linear range from 10-2 ng/mL to 102 ng/mL with a low detection limit of 1.85 pg/mL. Furthermore, when the immunosensor was employed in the analysis of IL-6 in 100% serum, the results obtained by electrochemical immunoassay were consistent with those obtained by ELISA without suffering from other significant biological interference. Discussion: The designed electrochemical immunosensor realizes the detection of IL-6 in actual serum samples with high accuracy and sensitivity, and could potentially become a promising technique for applications in the clinical diagnosis of SAH.

Abstract
Electropolymerized neutral red, thionine, and aniline were used as part of hybrid nanocomposite conductive polymers, to create an amperometric reagent-less biosensor for glucose determination. The structure of the obtained polymers was studied using infrared (IR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Electrochemical characteristics were studied by cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy. It was shown that, from the point of view of both the rate of electron transfer to the electrode, and the rate of interaction with the active center of glucose oxidase (GOx), the most promising is a new nanocomposite based on poly(neutral red) (pNR) and thermally expanded graphite (TEG). The sensor based on the created nanocomposite material is characterized by a sensitivity of 1000 ± 200 nA × dm3/mmol; the lower limit of the determined glucose concentrations is 0.006 mmol/L. The glucose biosensor based on this nanocomposite was characterized by a high correlation (R2 = 0.9828) with the results of determining the glucose content in human blood using the standard method. Statistical analysis did not reveal any deviations of the results obtained using this biosensor and the reference method. Therefore, the developed biosensor can be used as an alternative to the standard analysis method and as a prototype for creating sensitive and accurate glucometers, as well as biosensors to assess other metabolites.

Abstract
A very simple, as well as sensitive and selective, sensing protocol was developed on a pre-anodized graphite pencil electrode surface coated using poly(thionine) (APGE/PTH). The poly(thionine) coated graphite pencil was then used for simultaneous sensing of 3-nitrophenol (3-NP) and 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). The poly(thionine) coated electrode exhibited an enhanced electrocatalytic property towards nitrophenol (3-NP and 4-NP) reduction. Redox peak potential and current of both nitrophenols were found well resolved and their simultaneous analysis was studied. Under optimized experimental conditions, APGE/PTH showed a long linear concentration range from 20 to 230 nM and 15 nM to 280 nM with a calculated limit of detection (LOD) of 4.5 and 4 nM and a sensitivity of 22.45 µA/nM and 27.12 µA/nM for 3-NP and 4-NP, respectively. Real sample analysis using the prepared sensor was tested with different environmental water samples and the sensors exhibited excellent recovery results in the range from 98.16 to 103.43%. Finally, the sensor exposed an promising selectivity, stability, and reproducibility towards sensing of 3-NP and 4-NP.

To develop more sensitive and selective electrochemical (bio)sensors, the electrocatalytic properties of redox polymers and the electrical, mechanical, and catalytic properties of various nanomaterials are combined. This review aims to summarize and contribute to the development of (bio)sensors based on polyphenazine or polytriphenylmethane redox polymers combined with nanomaterials, including carbon-based nanomaterials, metal/metal oxide, and semiconductor nanoparticles. The synthesis, preparation, and modification of these nanocomposites is presented and the contribution of each material to the performance of (bio)sensor has been be examined. It is explained how the combined use of these redox polymers and nanomaterials as a sensing platform leads to improved analytical performance of the (bio)sensors. Finally, the analytical performance characteristics and practical applications of polyphenazine and polytriphenylmethane redox polymer/nanomaterial-based electrochemical (bio)sensors are compared and discussed.

Abstract
A novel hybrid composite of conductive poly(methylene blue) (PMB) and carbon nanotubes (CNT) was prepared for the detection of 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA). Electrosynthesis of PMB with glassy carbon electrode (GCE) or with carbon nanotube modified GCE was done in ethaline deep eutectic solvent of choline chloride mixed with ethylene glycol and a 10% v/v aqueous solution. Different sensor architectures were evaluated in a broad range of pH values in a Britton-Robinson (BR) buffer using electrochemical techniques, chronoamperometry (CA), and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), to determine the optimum sensor configuration for 5-ASA sensing. Under optimal conditions, the best analytical performance was obtained with CNT/PMBDES/GCE in 0.04 M BR buffer pH 7.0 in the range 5-100 µM 5-ASA using the DPV method, with an excellent sensitivity of 9.84 μA cm-2 μM-1 (4.9 % RSD, n = 5) and a detection limit (LOD) (3σ/slope) of 7.7 nM, outclassing most similar sensors found in the literature. The sensitivity of the same sensor obtained in CA (1.33 μA cm-2 μM-1) under optimal conditions (pH 7.0, Eapp = +0.40 V) was lower than that obtained by DPV. Simultaneous detection of 5-ASA and its analogue, acetaminophen (APAP), was successfully realized, showing a catalytic effect towards the electro-oxidation of both analytes, lowering their oxidation overpotential, and enhancing the oxidation peak currents and peak-to-peak separation as compared with the unmodified electrode. The proposed method is simple, sensitive, easy to apply, and economical for routine analysis.

A new electrochemical sensor based on thionine (TH), an electroactive polymer, and CuO nanoparticle (CuONP)-modified pencil graphite electrode (PGE) has been developed. Poly(thionine) (PTH) was formed on the CuO/PGE surface by electropolymerisation in ethaline deep eutectic solvent (DES) containing acetic acid dopant to form PTHEthaline/CuO/PGE. Cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and differential pulse voltammetry were utilized to evaluate the fabrication process, electrochemical properties, and performance parameters of the modified electrodes. The analytical performance of the PTHEthaline/CuO/PGE was evaluated with respect to linear range, limit of detection, repeatability, and reproducibility for the detection of acetaminophen (APAP) by electrooxidation in the presence of ascorbic acid (AA). Analytical parameters such as pH were optimized. The combined use of PTH and CuONP led to enhanced performance towards APAP due to the large electroactive surface area and synergistic catalytic effect, with a wide linear working range and low detection limit. The reliability of the proposed sensor for the detection of APAP was successfully tested in pharmaceutical samples containing APAP and AA, with very good recoveries. Graphical abstract.
