Abstract
Progressive encephalomyelitis with rigidity and myoclonus (PERM) is a rare and severe syndrome characterized by rigidity of the limb and truncal muscles, brainstem signs, myoclonus, and hyperekplexia. Iliopsoas hematoma is a serious complication of bleeding disorders that occurs most commonly in patients with hemophilia and also in association with anti-coagulant drug treatment. We herein present a case of PERM complicated with bilateral iliopsoas hematomas. His neurological symptoms improved after immunotherapy, and thereafter the iliopsoas hematomas disappeared. Neurologists should consider iliopsoas hematomas as a serious potential complication of PERM.

Abstract
Chronic expanding hematoma (CEH) is a rare disease that is usually present as a large solitary pulmonary nodule. CEHs are slow growing, but processes underlying their development remain unknown. The present study herein reports the case of a 76-year-old male patient with CEH and discusses a number of CEH cases published in the literature. The majority of these previously described patients were Asians. The CEH in the present case was not a successfully resected one, but the patient's clinical course provided information concerning the natural history of the disease. During the clinical course, the patient underwent several chest computed tomography scans. For the present case report, the doubling time and volume change of the mass was calculated, which revealed that the lesion had an inconstant growth rate and that its onset was between 8.2-11.0 years before the patient succumbed to this disease. Accumulation of knowledge about this rare disease will help to elucidate it further.

Abstract
A 24-year-old man presented with impending ulceration of a large thigh swelling which appeared after minor trauma. Imaging revealed a large well-encapsulated lesion with no vascularity. He was diagnosed to have a pseudotumor and underwent successful excision of the mass under blood and cryoprecipitate cover. The unusual presentation was suspected to be secondary to a transient drug-induced factor XIII deficiency because the result of the final coagulation study was normal.

Abstract
Chronic expanding hematoma (CEH) is a rare, slow-developing disease that occurs months to years after trauma or surgery. Most CEH in soft tissue occurs in the thigh or upper extremities and can occur with or without an inducible cause. Ninety-one cases of CEH in soft tissue have been reported previously in the Japanese and English literature but its occurrence on the sole has not been reported. Here, we report four cases of successfully treated CEH, including a case occurring on the sole, and provide a review of the literature.

Abstract
Hematomas following surgery or trauma usually resolve without complications. In some instances, for reasons that are not completely understood, hematoma formation is followed by slow expansion of the mass. The large fluid collection is surrounded by a pseudocapsule and fibrous tissue, and present months or years after the original insult, as chronic expanding hematoma. In this case study, we present a rare case of chronic expanding hematoma in an 84-year-old woman. The patient noted a painful swelling in the posteromedial aspect of the lower thigh, and recalled a bump to the left knee 64 years earlier. The lesion was successfully resected, with a preoperative presumptive diagnosis of organized hematoma, although the clinical findings were suggestive of malignancy. We describe the radiological findings, discuss the differential diagnosis.

Abstract
We report on 2 patients with soft-tissue sarcomas mimicking large haematomas. Neither patient had a medical history of trauma or bleeding tendency. In a patient with a large leiomyosarcoma in the buttock, insufficient biopsy material from initial surgeries precluded a correct diagnosis. In the second patient with epithelioid sarcoma of the forearm, fasciotomy was repeatedly performed for compartment syndrome arising from the tumour. It is important to reconfirm prior trauma and investigate the clinical course and images of patients with an unusual history of haematoma in the extremities. The possibility of a malignant tumour should be suspected, and repeated biopsies should be performed if necessary.
