Abstract
Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism and is a key biomarker for various diseases. Under normal conditions, there is a balance between its production and excretion. Its higher concentration can cause inflammation and severe pain, which makes it necessary to monitor its level for the diagnosis, management, and treatment of various pathological conditions. The current work reports on the synthesis of a copper-doped biochar (Cu@BC) nanocomposite and its functionalization with citric acid. The synthesis of the mimic enzyme was confirmed through various spectroscopic techniques. The nanozyme catalyzes hydrogen peroxide to oxidize tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) with an optical change from colorless to blue-green. This optical transformation was confirmed through a UV-vis spectrophotometer, which gave an expected λ max of 652 nm characteristic of TMBoxi. The incorporation of uric acid into this reaction mixture resulted in the reduction of TMBoxi to TMBred, accompanied by an optical change from blue-green to colorless, which was again confirmed with a UV-vis spectrophotometer. The fabricated sensor's performance was finely-tuned to report on its various key components. The best response was achieved at 2 mg of the nanozyme, pH 6, time 150 seconds, TMB, and hydrogen peroxide 0.9 and 1.5 mM, respectively. Under the above-mentioned optimized conditions, the fabricated sensor detected uric acid in the range of 1-90 μM with limits of detection and quantification of 0.17 and 0.58 μM, respectively, with an R 2 of 0.997. The proposed sensor was highly selective and successfully detected uric acid in real sample solutions.

Abstract
A TiO2/graphene quantum dots composite (TiO2/GQDs) obtained by in situ synthesis of GQDs, derived from coffee grounds, and peroxo titanium complexes was used as electrode modifier in the simultaneous electrochemical determination of uric acid and hypoxanthine. The TiO2/GQDs material was characterized by photoluminescence, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray mapping. The TiO2/GQDs-GCE exhibits better electrochemical activity for uric acid and hypoxanthine than GQDs/GCE or TiO2/GCE in differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) measurements. Under optimized conditions, the calibration plots were linear in the range from 1.00 to 15.26 μM for both uric acid and hypoxanthine. The limits of detection of this method were 0.58 and 0.68 μM for uric acid and hypoxanthine, respectively. The proposed DPV method was employed to determine uric acid and hypoxanthine in urine samples with acceptable recovery rates.

Abstract
Facile electro-activated glassy carbon electrodes (e-GCEs), which are prepared in electrolyte solution with a certain potential for a few seconds, have been verified to improve analytical performance toward not a few electro-active molecules recently. Nevertheless, how and why the potential plays an important role is not clear, and has even not received enough consideration. In this paper, we found that the mode and the range of applied potential significantly impacted the sensitivity of methyl parathion (MP), which is a typical pesticide with the electro-active group of -NO2. Compared with constant potential, the e-GCE with cyclic potential provided a much more stable baseline during MP detection. Additionally, the electro-oxidation peak current of MP at around -0.1 V on it was higher than another changeable potential (constant current). What's more interesting, with cyclic potential for 50 segments from -2 to 1.5 V, the peak current value increased by 30 times in comparison with a bare GCE, but only 2 times from -2 to 1 V. Then after systematic investigation including structures of the electrode surface and functional groups, we speculated that the produced group of O-CO in the process of activation and remaining groups of C-O and CO on the bare GCE surface are beneficial for adsorbing MP molecules leading to enhanced peak current. Employing the proposed e-GCE, the limit of detection of MP reached 0.015 μM and the reproducibility was perfect. This work elucidates the potent impact of electro-activation potential parameters on electroanalysis behaviors.

Abstract
AbstractAcetaminophen is a well-known drug commonly used to provide pain relief, but it can also lead to acute liver failure at high concentrations. Therefore, there is considerable interest in monitoring its concentrations. Sensitive and selective acetaminophen electrochemical sensors were designed by cycling a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to high potentials in the presence of β-CD in a phosphate electrolyte, or by simply activating the GCE electrode in the phosphate solution. Using cyclic voltammetry, adsorption-like voltammograms were recorded. The acetaminophen oxidation product, N-acetyl benzoquinone imine, was protected from hydrolysis, and this was attributed to the adsorption of acetaminophen at the modified GCE. The rate constants for the oxidation of acetaminophen were estimated as 4.3 × 10–3 cm2 s–1 and 3.4 × 10–3 cm2 s–1 for the β-CD-modified and -activated electrodes, respectively. Using differential pulse voltammetry, the limit of detection was calculated as 9.7 × 10–8 M with a linear concentration range extending from 0.1 to 80 μM. Furthermore, good selectivity was achieved in the presence of caffeine, ascorbic acid and aspirin, enabling the determination of acetaminophen in a commercial tablet. Similar electrochemical data were obtained for both the β-CD-modified and activated GCE surfaces, suggesting that the enhanced detection of acetaminophen is connected mainly to the activation and oxidation of the GCE. Using SEM, EDX and FTIR, no evidence was obtained to indicate that the β-CD was electropolymerised at the GCE.

Abstract
Uric acid (UA) is a residual product of purines in the body and has been proposed as a valuable biomarker for Diabetes Mellitus, renal disorder, hypertension and preeclampsia. This work presents a sensing platform for nonenzymatic UA detection using a screen-printed electrode modified with gold nanoparticles (SPE-AuNps) operated with the compact and low-cost amperometric reader AMP3291. This laboratory-made instrument was designed using the analog front end LMP91000 and the microcontroller ESP32; the operational parameters like working potential, acquisition time and dynamic measuring range were configured for UA detection. The whole sensing system (AMP3291+ SPE-AuNps) was evaluated for nonenzymatic sensing of UA, showing a fast response time of 3.5 s, a sensitivity of 0.022 μA·μM−1, a linear range from 20 to 200 μM (R2 = 0.993) and a limit of detection of 11.91 μM. Throughout, a piece of commercial equipment was used for validation and noticeably the measurements with the AMP3291-based platform showed improved performance, indicating the feasibility of the developed instrument for UA monitoring and potentially for in situ decentralized applications. Finally, artificial saliva was used as model medium exhibiting interesting analytical parameters, encouraging to consider the reported system as a potentially valuable tool for monitoring UA for clinical applications in resource-limited settings.
