One-step electrodeposition of polyaniline/nickel hexacyanoferrate/sulfonated carbon nanotubes interconnected composite films for supercapacitor

NiFe-PANI composites synthesized by electrodeposition for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of diclofenac sodium from wastewater

A simple inexpensive approach was used to synthesize NiFe-PANI nanocomposites and used for photodegradation of diclofenac sodium (DCF) in water sources. Morphological, optical, structural, and catalytic properties of the nanocomposites were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) to confirm the cubic structure of NiFe nanoparticles and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) that revealed the presence of NiFe and PANI, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed the uniform distribution of NiFe nanoparticles onto the surface of PANI, Energy-Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) was utilized to validate the composition of the obtained Permalloy NiFe-PANI nanocomposites, optical properties confirmed the decrease of Eg band gap from 2.62 to 2.51 eV by the addition of NiFe. The NiFe-PANI composite showed superior photocatalytic efficiency in degrading DCF, achieving 82.53% degradation in 15 min and 97.89% in 60 min. This was significantly higher than the PANI alone, which achieved 62.72 and 93.48% degradation in the same time intervals respectively. The results indicated that the photocatalytic efficiency remained consistent, with no observable decrease, even after five cycles of recycling. The NiFe-PANI catalyst served as an efficient and cost-effective photocatalyst for DCF degradation, and the study holds promise for the photocatalytic removal of other organic pollutants from water and wastewater.

In situ hydrothermal synthesis of nickel cobalt sulfide nanoparticles embedded on nitrogen and sulfur dual doped graphene for a high performance supercapacitor electrode

Nickel cobalt sulfide nanoparticles (NCS) embedded onto a nitrogen and sulfur dual doped graphene (NS-G) surface are successfully synthesized via a two-step facile hydrothermal process. The electrical double-layer capacitor of NS-G acts as a supporting host for the growth of pseudocapacitance NCS nanoparticles, thus enhancing the synergistic electrochemical performance. The specific capacitance values of 1420.2 F g-1 at 10 mV s-1 and 630.6 F g-1 at 1 A g-1 are achieved with an impressive capability rate of 76.6% preservation at 10 A g-1. Furthermore, the integrating NiCo2S4 nanoparticles embedding onto the NS-G surface also present a surprising improvement in the cycle performance, maintaining 110% retention after 10 000 cycles. Owing to the unique morphology an impressive energy density of 19.35 W h kg-1 at a power density of 235.0 W kg-1 suggests its potential application in high-performance supercapacitors.

Preparation, characterization and application in cobalt ion adsorption using nanoparticle films of hybrid copper-nickel hexacyanoferrate

Different mole ratios (n Cu : n Ni = x : y) of hybrid copper-nickel metal hexacyanoferrates (Cu x Ni y HCFs) were prepared to explore their morphologies, structure, electrochemical properties and the feasibility of electrochemical adsorption of cobalt ions. Cyclic voltammetry (CV), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) indicated that the x : y ratio of Cu x Ni y HCF nanoparticles can be easily controlled as designed using a wet chemical coprecipitation method. The crystallite size and formal potential of Cu x Ni y HCF films showed an insignificant change when 0 ≤ x : y < 0.3. Given the shape of the CV curves, this might be due to Cu2+ ions being inserted into the NiHCF framework as countercations to maintain the electrical neutrality of the structure. On the other hand, crystallite size depended linearly on the x : y ratio when x : y > 0.3. This is because Cu tended to replace Ni sites in the lattice structure at higher molar ratios of x : y. Cu x Ni y HCF films inherited good electrochemical reversibility from the CuHCFs, in view of the cyclic voltammograms; in particular, Cu1Ni2HCF exhibited long-term cycling stability and high surface coverage. The adsorption of Co2+ fitted the Langmuir isotherm model well, and the kinetic data can be well described by a pseudo-second order model, which may imply that Co2+ adsorption is controlled by chemical adsorption. The diffusion process was dominated by both intraparticle diffusion and surface diffusion.
