Abstract
The detection of trace antibiotic residues holds significant importance because it's related to food safety and human health. In this study, we developed a new high-yield red-emitting carbon dots (R-CDs) with aggregation-induced emission properties for ratiometric sensing of norfloxacin. R-CDs were prepared in 30 min using an economical and efficient microwave-assisted method with tartaric acid and o-phenylenediamine as precursors, achieving a high yield of 34.4 %. R-CDs showed concentration-dependent fluorescence and aggregation-induced-emission properties. A ratiometric fluorescent probe for detecting the norfloxacin was developed. In the range of 0-40 μM, the intensity ratio of two emission peaks (I445 nm/I395 nm) towards norfloxacin show good linear relationship with its concentrations and a low detection limit was obtained (36.78 nM). In addition, complex patterns were developed for anti-counterfeiting based on different emission phenomenon at different concentrations. In summary, this study designed a novel ratiometric fluorescent probe for detection of norfloxacin, which greatly shortens the detection time and improves efficiency compared with high-performance liquid chromatography and other methods. The study will promote the application of carbon dots in anti-counterfeiting and other related fields, laying the foundation for the preparation of low-cost photosensitive anti-counterfeiting materials.

Abstract
Quinolone and sulfonamide are two classes of antibacterial agents with an opulent history of medicinal chemistry features that contribute to their bacterial spectrum, efficacy, pharmacokinetics, and adverse effect profiles. The urgent need for their use, combined with the escalating rate of their resistance, necessitates the development of suitable analytical methods that accelerate and facilitate their analysis. In this study, the advanced firefly algorithm (FFA) coupled with support vector regression (SVR) was used to select the most significant descriptors and to construct two quantitative structure-retention relationship (QSRR) models using a series of 11 selected quinolone and 13 sulfonamide drugs, respectively, to predict their retention behavior in HPLC. Precisely, the effect of the pH value and acetonitrile composition in the mobile phase on the retention behavior of quinolones and sulfonamides, respectively, were studied. The obtained QSRR models performed well in both internal and external validations, demonstrating their robustness and predictive ability. Y-randomization validation demonstrated that the obtained models did not result by statistical chance. Moreover, the obtained results shed the light on the molecular features that influence the retention behavior of these two classes under the current chromatographic conditions.

Abstract
The presence of antibiotic residue in eggs is a current issue due to the increasingly important phenomenon of antibiotic resistance. A multiclass, confirmatory method for the determination of seventy-three antimicrobial agents (amphenicols, cephalosporins, diaminopyrimidines, lincosamides, macrolides, penicillins, pleuromutilins, quinolones, sulfonamides, and tetracyclines) with liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry was applied to 200 egg samples collected from 119 Italian farms during the years 2018–2021.

Abstract
The influence of fish burger preparation and frying on residual levels of enrofloxacin (ENR) and ciprofloxacin (CIP) was evaluated. For this purpose, a high-throughput liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analytical method for the quantitation of ENR and CIP residues in tilapia products (fillet, raw fish burger and fried fish burger) was developed and validated based on European and Brazilian guidelines. Sample preparation was accomplished by extraction with acidified acetonitrile followed by clean-up with hexane. Chromatographic analysis was performed on a C18 column using isocratic elution with 0.1% formic acid and acetonitrile (85:15 v:v). The analytical method showed suitable performance to quantify the residual levels of ENR and CIP in the studied matrices. No reduction in the residual levels of ENR and CIP was observed during fish burger preparation and only a 10% reduction occurred as a consequence of frying, indicating that both compounds were stable to the preparation of the fish burger and to frying conditions.

Abstract
A specific, sensitive and stable high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)-based analytical method was established to determine the level of pefloxacin mesylate (PM) in the plasma and various tissues of chickens. Chickens were randomly assigned to 12 equal experiment groups, including 11 treatment groups and one control group. The chickens in the treatment groups received oral administration of PM and were sacrificed at different pre-determined time points, with their blood and various organs harvested, extracted and analyzed by HPLC to quantify the level of the residual antibiotic. Method validation studies indicated that the HPLC measurement showed excellent precision, reproducibility, stability and robustness. The obtained pharmacokinetic parameters suggested that PM reached peak levels in various tissues within 1-2 h after its oral administration, and was mainly concentrated in liver and kidney. The antibiotic was also found to be cleared from chicken crureus, brain, testes, ovaries and pancreas at higher rates compared with other organs. Overall, the rapid accumulation of PM could at least be partially attributed to its relatively slow organ clearance. These results could serve as a useful guidance for the rational use of PM and other quinolone-derived antimicrobials in the treatment of infectious diseases in chickens and other animals.
