Abstract
Hollow polymer microspheres (HPMs) were synthesized, which were then hydrolyzed in aqueous ammonia to produce carboxyl (-COOH) groups on their surface. L-phenylalanine (L-Phe) was grafted to the hydrolyzed HPMs (H-HPMs) through amidation reactions, endowing the H-HPMs with chirality. The resultant chiral HPMs (C-HPMs) were used for the chiral discrimination of tryptophan (Trp) isomers. Due to the same rotatorydirection of L-Phe and L-Trp, the C-HPMs showed greatly higher selectivity toward L-Trp than its isomer. After being adsorbed by the C-HPMs, the absorbance of the residual L-Trp is significantly lower than that of the residual D-Trp, and thus spectroscopic chiral discrimination of the Trp isomers was successfully achieved. The Trp isomers were also discriminated by the chiral solid polymer microspheres (C-SPMs), while the difference in the absorbance of the residual L-Trp and D-Trp is remarkably smaller than that obtained by the C-HPMs. The outstanding discrimination capability of the C-HPMs might be ascribed to their high surface permeability resulted from their unique hollow structure.

Abstract
Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) has attracted tremendous attention because of its significant application prospect across multiple fields of three-dimensional display, data storage, and information encryption. Chirality and luminescence are two necessary prerequisites for the generation of CPL. However, controlling these two factors simultaneously in a rational manner remains a challenge. Herein, we highlight the recent advances on the rational generation and regulation of CPL through the new concept, named matching rules, mainly including fluorescence-selective absorption, circularly polarized fluorescence energy transfer, and chiral communication between excited state and ground state. An important commonality among these strategies is that they need a good overlap of the corresponding spectra between the luminescent part (fluorescence, phosphorescence, or CPL) and the chiral part (organic, inorganic, or organic-inorganic hybrid materials), which can be contactless and separate. Different from most previous studies, no covalent or noncovalent interactions between the two parts are required, which makes them more facile and convenient. Finally, we summarize the main advantages of these strategies and the current challenges. We expect this concept to offer insightful and novel understanding and inspiration on CPL generation and regulation.

Abstract
Discrete oligomers can be used to precisely evaluate the structure-property relationship and enable unique chiroptical activities, however, the role of stereochemical sequences on chirality transfer is still unclear. Herein, we report the successful synthesis of a series of sequence-defined chiral azobenzene (Azo) oligomers via iterative stepwise chain growth strategy. Sequence-defined stereoisomers with one single chiral (L or D) stereocenter at the α-position, ω-position and middle- (m-) position have completely different self-assembly dynamics. ω-positional stereocenter can effectively command all Azo building blocks to adopt a tilted π-π stacking along the helical superbundles, exhibiting the activation of chirality transfer. However, discrete oligomers with the stereocenter at other positions can only self-assemble into non-helical nanowires, accompanied by the deactivation of chirality transfer.Cooperative supramolecular interactions, including the π-π interaction between Azo units, the intermolecular hydrogen bonding and steric hindrance, are intrinsic driving forces for these differentiations.

Abstract
Chiral catalysts for asymmetric catalysis represent a crucial research focus in chemistry and materials science. However, a few cases about chiral-dependent photocatalysts primarily focus on plasmonic noble metals. Particularly, developing chiral nano-catalysts that can be driven by mechanical energy remains in the blank stage. Herein, organic polymer-based enantiomers, chiral polar polyimide (PI) microspheric nano-assembly are synthesized as novel bifunctional catalysts for asymmetric photocatalysis and piezocatalysis. The PI catalyst enantiomers present enantioselectivity towards left- and right-circularly polarized light, demonstrating chiral-dependent H2O2 photoproduction. Interestingly, enantioselectivity of the catalyst reverses under irradiation of different bands, presenting tunability in the interaction between chiral catalysts and circularly polarized light. For the first time, enantioselective piezocatalytic behavior is demonstrated by the chiral polar PI catalysts. They show remarkable chiral preference for asymmetric Diels-Alder reaction and enantioselective conversion of tyrosine substrates under ultrasonic vibration. The findings provide a new perspective into exploring metal-free chiral catalysts and their asymmetric catalysis applications across multiple energy forms.

Abstract
The precise control of the chirality of polymer assemblies is a challenge faced by scientists and has received significant attention in recent years. In this study, we employed the polymerization-induced chiral self-assembly (PICSA) method to create chiral side-chain cyanobiphenyl (CB) block copolymer (BCP) assemblies. The flexible spacers in chiral CB monomers were regulated to exhibit two distinct odd-even effects in the supramolecular asymmetrical arrangement of the CB mesogens inside BCP assemblies. The research results indicated that the liquid crystalline properties of CB mesogens significantly influence the magnitude and sign of their chiroptical properties. These findings have significant implications for the design of polymer assemblies with designable chiroptical functions.

Abstract
Achieving control over symmetry breaking of completely achiral components in the aqueous phase is a significant challenge in supramolecular chemistry. Herein, we demonstrate that it is possible to construct chiral nanoassemblies by introducing metal ions (Zn2+, Fe3+, Al3+, Cu2+, and Ca2+) into completely achiral azobenzene amphiphiles with key structural factors in the pure aqueous phase. It is found that the coordination interactions, π-π stacking, hydrophilic and hydrophobic interactions, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic interactions are crucial to the metal-ion-induced symmetry breaking of completely achiral building blocks. This study may provide an intriguing model system for constructing chiral assemblies based on completely achiral molecules.

Abstract
Chirality, as one of the most striking characteristics, exists at various scales in nature. Originating from the interactions of host and guest molecules, supramolecular chirality possesses huge potential in the design of functional materials. Here, an overview of the recent progress in structure designs and functions of chiral supramolecular materials is present. First, three design routes of the chiral supramolecular structure are summarized. Compared with the template-induced and chemical synthesis strategies that depend on accurate molecular identification, the twisted-assembly technique creates chiral materials through the ordered stacking of the nanowire or films. Next, chirality inversion and amplification are reviewed to explain the chirality transfer from the molecular level to the macroscopic scale, where the available external stimuli on the chirality inversion are also given. Lastly, owing to the optical activity and the characteristics of the layer-by-layer stacking structure, the supramolecular chirality materials display various excellent performances, including smart response, shape-memorization, superior mechanical performance, and applications in biomedical fields. To sum up, this work provides a systematic review of the helical assemblies, structure design, and applications of supramolecular chirality systems.

Abstract
The construction of chiral superstructures through the self-assembly of non-chiral polymers usually relies on the interplay of multiple non-covalent bonds, which is significantly limited by the memory ability of induced chirality. Although the introduction of covalent crosslinking can undoubtedly enhance the stability of chiral superstructures, the concurrent strong constraining effect hinders the application of chirality-smart materials. To address this issue, we have made a first attempt at the reversible fixation of supramolecular chirality by introducing dynamic covalent crosslinking into the chiral self-assembly of side-chain polymers. After chiral induction, the reversible [2+2] cycloaddition reaction of the cinnamate group in the polymer chains can be further controlled by light to manipulate inter-chain crosslinking and decrosslinking. Based on this photo-programmable and dynamic chiral fixation strategy, a novel pattern-embedded storage mechanism of chiral polymeric materials was established for the first time.

Abstract
The construction of macroscopic chiral luminescent aggregates with well-defined structures not only contributes to the development of functional materials but also has significant implications for analyzing chiral transfer and amplification in biological systems and self-assembly systems. Meanwhile, achieving water-soluble chiral metal nanoclusters (NCs) with high photoluminescence (PL) intensity through a convenient method remains a challenge. Herein, we reported the enhanced luminescence of gold nanoclusters stabilized by D-/L-penicillamine (D-/L-AuNCs) induced by poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) through supramolecular self-assembly strategies. FT-IR spectra and zeta potential measurements revealed that supramolecular assembly was driven by the synergistic effect of hydrogen bonds and electrostatic interactions, which effectively limited the intramolecular vibration and rotation of the ligand and reduced nonradiative relaxation, thus improving the luminescence properties of nanoclusters. Interestingly, during the slow solvent evaporation process, chiral entanglement of assemblies was enhanced, forming macroscopic wheat-shaped superstructures. This study enriches the understanding of the self-assembly mechanism of nanoclusters and provides a pathway for constructing NC-based chiroptical materials.

Abstract
Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) has attracted much interest due to its potential applications on chiral photonic techniques and optoelectronic materials science. As known, dissymmetry factor (gem ) of CPL is one essential factor for evaluating the features of CPL-active materials. Much attention has focused on how to increase the gem value, which is one of the most important issues for CPL practical applications. Recently, more and more works have demonstrated that chiral supramolecular could provide the significant strategy to improve the gem value through the orderly helical superstructure of chiral building blocks. Normally, this kind of chiral supramolecular assembly process can be accompanied by chirality transfer and induction mechanism, which can promote the amplification effect on the induced CPL of achiral dyes. In this review, we fully summarized recent advances on the induced CPL-active materials of chiral supramolecular co-assemblies, their applications in circularly polarized organic light-emitting diodes (CP-OLEDs) and current challenges.

Abstract
Organic luminogens with room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) have been paid great attention and developed rapidly for their wide application values. Until now, the internal mechanism and source of phosphorescence are still obscure, especially for the relationship between molecular dimer and RTP emission. Hence, we designed and synthesized eight phenothiazine 5,5-dioxide derivatives to directly reveal how the monomer and dimer in packing affect the RTP behavior. Dimers with strong π-π stacking (θ < 20.66°; d < 3.86 Å) lead to pure triplet excimer emission, while those with weak π-π stacking (27.02°< θ < 40.64°; 3.84 Å < d < 4.41 Å) contribute to dual RTP emissions of both monomer and triplet excimer. The valuable information of this work would promote the further development of this research field, as well as others in aggregate.

Abstract
Many strategies have been used to construct supramolecular hollow tubes, including helical folding of oligomers, bundling of rod-like structures, rolling-up of sheets and stacking of covalent cycles. On the other hand, controlling chirality at the supramolecular level continues attracting much interest because of its implications in future applications of porous systems. This review article covers the main examples in the literature that use simple molecular structures as chiral units for precise assembly into discrete non-covalent cyclic structures that are able to form chiral supramolecular tubular systems.

Abstract
Flexible construction of permanently stored supramolecular chirality with stimulus-responsiveness remains a big challenge. Herein, we describe an efficient method to realize the transfer and storage of chirality in intrinsically achiral films of a side-chain polymeric liquid crystal system by combining chiral doping and cross-linking strategy. Even the helical structure was destroyed by UV light irradiation, the memorized chiral information in the covalent network enabled complete self-recovery of the original chiral superstructure. These results allowed the building of a novel chiroptical switch without any additional chiral source in multiple types of liquid crystal polymers, which may be one of the competitive candidates for use in stimulus-responsive chiro-optical devices.
