Abstract
BACKGROUND Zein-coated magnesium oxide nanoparticles (zMgO NPs) demonstrate a potent antimicrobial effect, endorsing it as a compelling additive to dental materials formulations for oral health care advances. However, currently there is no data on the imprint of zMgO NPs on the color permanence of dental composites. The objective of this study is to evaluate the color stability of different types of composite enhanced with antimicrobial zein-coated magnesium oxide nanoparticles (zMgO NPs) of different shapes before and after thermocycling. METHODS Two hundred composite samples were divided into four groups: Gp1: Tetric N-Flow with zMgO nanowires, Gp2: Tetric N-Flow with zMgO nanospheres, Gp3: Tetric N-Ceram with zMgO nanowires; Gp4: Tetric N-Ceram with zMgO nanospheres. Each group was subdivided into 5 subgroups (n = 10) with concentrations of zMgO NPs 0%, 0.3%, 0.5%, 1% and 2%. The characterization of the modified composite containing the zMgO was done via X-ray Diffraction, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Colorimetric evaluation was performed through spectrophotometry with a white background. Samples underwent color assessment using a spectrophotometer, followed by thermocycling, and then another color assessment. RESULTS FESEM analysis showed a uniform distribution of the zMgO nanoparticles in the composite and FTIR illustrated no change in the spectra. However, the XRD spectra exhibited an amorphous pattern in the composite enhanced with zMgO NPs. There was no compelling discrepancy in color variation ΔE among the different groups before and after thermocycling (p > 0.05). A statistically notable variation in ΔL was found amid the control and N-Flow and N-Ceram with 2% zMgO nanospheres before and after thermocycling respectively (p < 0.05). While after thermocycling, there was a statistically significant difference in Δa in N-Flow and N-Ceram wires amid the control and the different groups (p < 0.05). Additionally, after thermocycling there was a statistically significant difference in Δb in N-Flow and N-Ceram wires between the control and the different groups (p < 0.05). The Tukey test exhibited no variation among the groups with different zMgO concentrations (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION Enhancing N-Flow and N-Ceram composite with antimicrobial zMgO nanowires and nanospheres did not alter the total color stability of the materials before and after thermocycling.

Abstract
BACKGROUND One of the crucial factors influencing the longevity of anterior aesthetic dental restorations is the colour stability of resin composites. Bleaching and whitening have become popular methods for enhancing dental aesthetics. Home whitening techniques, such as special pens, are widely available commercially. This in vitro study aimed to determine the efficiency of a whitening pen in removing tea stains from resin composite by measuring colour differences (ΔE00). Additionally, the study aimed to evaluate the variations in colour parameters measured by extra-oral and intra-oral spectrophotometers. METHODS A total of 45 disc-shaped resin composite specimens were randomly divided into three groups; Group 1: stored in artificial saliva (control), Group 2: stored in artificial saliva followed by a whitening pen application, and Group 3: stored in tea followed by a whitening pen application. Colour measurements were taken three times for each specimen using two spectrophotometers (extra-oral and intra-oral devices); T1: before storage (baseline), T2: after storage in artificial saliva or tea for 6 days; and T3: after one week of whitening pen application in groups 2 and 3. The data were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by the Tukey post hoc test (p ≤ 0.05). The independent sample t-test was also employed. The equation of CIEDE2000 (ΔE00) was used to calculate the colour difference between the dry, as-prepared specimens (baseline), and those after storage or bleaching. The colour changes exceeding the acceptability threshold (∆E00 = 1.8) were considered unacceptable. RESULTS After whitening, the colour of the specimens stored in brewed tea (Group 3) remained unacceptable, as indicated by both the extra-oral and intra-oral spectrophotometers (ΔE00 = 4 and 2.9, respectively). Groups 1 and 2 exhibited lower ΔE00 values than Group 3 (p = 0.01 *). No significant difference was observed between Group 1 (stored in artificial saliva) and Group 2 (stored in artificial saliva and then bleached) (p = 0.3). Significant differences were consistently observed between the data obtained from the extra-oral spectrophotometer and the intra-oral one. CONCLUSIONS The whitening pen proved ineffective in removing tea stains from resin composites. Although significant differences were found between the values obtained by the two spectrophotometers (extra-oral and intra-oral), both devices confirmed the unacceptable colour of the tea-stained resin composites after whitening.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Surface microhardness and color stability of dental restorative material should be sustained throughout its functional lifetime to maintain the esthetic quality of the restoration. However, the frequent application of mouthwash may affect their surface microhardness and color stability. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different types of mouthwashes with different contents on surface microhardness and color stability of dental nanohybrid resin-based composite. METHODS Disc specimens of nanohybrid resin composite (Luna Nano-Hybrid Composite) were prepared according to manufacturing instructions; specimens were incubated for 24 h in three types of mouthwash (Chlorohexidine, Listerine Green Tea, and Colgate Optic White Whitening Mouthwash). Artificial saliva was used as a control group. Surface microhardness was evaluated using Vickers microhardness device. Color stability after and before immersion in the different mouthwashes was evaluated using extra-oral spectrophotometer; the values of color change (ΔE00) were subsequently calculated. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and post hoc test (p ≤ 0.05). RESULTS There was no significant difference between microhardness of resin composite immersed in artificial saliva, CHX, and Green Tea mouthwashes (78.5, 78.4, and 73.5, respectively) (p ≥ 0.1), while the bleaching mouthwash led to the lowest microhardness of resin composite, with significant difference compared to the three previous immersion media (p = 0.002). Moreover, there were significant differences in the color changes (ΔE00) of resin composite exposed to the various immersion media (p = 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS The bleaching mouthwash led to a significant reduction in nanohybrid resin composite's microhardness compared to the chlorohexidine and Green Tea containing mouthwashes. The resin composite's color change was accepted in bleaching mouthwash but unaccepted in chlorohexidine and Green Tea containing mouthwashes.

Abstract
This study aims to assess the color stability, water sorption, and solubility of 11 resin composites as commercially available dental products. Twenty samples (10 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness) of each material were fabricated using a customized silicone mold, followed by immersion in each of curry, coffee, wine, and distilled water for 28 days (n = 5). Baseline shade and color changes (ΔE) were measured using a reflection spectrophotometer. The CIE L*, a*, b* system was used to evaluate the color changes. Five samples of each resin composite were applied to test water sorption and solubility according to ISO 4049:2009. As a result, the ∆E values were significantly influenced by each of the three factors (composition of material, solution, time) and the interactions between them (p < 0.001). Highest resistance to discoloration was achieved by Ceram.X One Universal (CXU), followed by Magnafill Putty (MP). Generally, microhybrid composites showed fewer color changes than nanohybrid composites and giomers. DX. Universal and Filtek Z350 XT showed the highest ΔE values in all colorants. All materials tested in this study fulfilled the criteria of ISO 4049:2009; CXU and MP had the lowest water sorption and solubility. The Pearson test showed statistically significant positive correlations between water sorption and ΔE and between solubility and ΔE.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of at-home and in-office bleaching agents on esthetic CAD-CAM materials after red wine immersion by measuring their optical properties. Sixty specimens were prepared out of three esthetic CAD-CAM materials: Vita Enamic, Celtra Duo, and Ceresmart (n = 20). All specimens were immersed in a red wine solution, and color measurements were performed. Specimens were randomly divided (n = 10) according to the bleaching procedure (in office, at home), bleaching durations were set to 3 time points, and color measurements were performed. According to the Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE) L* a* b* parameters, CIEDE2000 color differences (ΔE00), translucency parameters (TP00), and whiteness index values (ΔWID) after wine staining and after bleaching were calculated. Data were analyzed using the Mann−Whitney U-test, the Kruskal−Wallis test, and a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) (α = 0.05). ΔE00, ΔTP00, and ΔWID decreased with an increase in bleaching treatment. ΔE00 after the final bleaching treatment of in-office bleaching ranged from 1.7 to 2.0, whereas those of in-office treatment ranged from 0.4 to 1.1. All ΔTP00 and ΔWID after the final treatment were below the 50:50% perceptibility thresholds (ΔTP00 < 0.6, and ΔWID < 0.7). Significant differences in ΔE00, ΔTP00, and ΔWID among esthetic CAD-CAM materials were found between CD and CE. In the present study, color recovery after at-home and in-office bleaching appeared to be material-dependent. In-office bleaching showed more effective recovery comparing to at-home bleaching.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to review the experimental staining procedures performed in in-vitro studies for evaluating color stability of resin-based composites used for direct restorations. OVERVIEW A review was performed with the purpose to identify in vitro procedures carried out to establish staining and color stability of resin-based composites used for direct restorations. A literature search was performed on four online databases (PubMed, Scopus, Embase and Web of Science) for articles published from January 1st 2001 till March 20th 2021, using a combination of free words and Medical Subject Headings (MESH) terms: "Composite Resins" AND "Color Stability" OR "Staining." Two reviewers screened titles and/or abstracts of 1728 unique studies. In total, 208 studies were selected for full-text reading, from which 178 were included in the review. The assessed variables were specimen dimensions, shape, and surface finishing; time before immersion; staining media type, dwell time, temperature and renewal interval; type of composite; color and translucency assessment parameters and measuring system. One hundred and seventy-eight articles analyzed color stability with staining liquids. Coffee was the most used staining medium (n = 102), followed by tea (n = 61), and red wine (n = 55). A disc-shaped specimen was used in most studies (n = 170) with a 2 mm thickness (n = 116). Spectrophotometers were the most used color assessment devices (n = 154), followed by colorimeters (n = 17). Color differences were quantified with ΔE (n = 154), ΔE00 (n = 23). Acceptability and or perceptibility thresholds were also taken into consideration (n = 126). CONCLUSIONS The large variety of staining procedure suggests the need for standardization. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE Aesthetic failure due to discoloration is a relevant clinical problem. Evaluating benefits and drawbacks of resin based composites artificial staining procedures will improve to predict materials clinical performances.

Abstract
In this study, we evaluated the characteristics of five commercial resin composites used for provisional restorations. The inorganic filler contents of the resins were measured, and three-point bending, wear, surface hardness, water absorption, and staining tests were performed. The specimens underwent additional three-point bending tests after water storage and undergoing thermal stresses at 5°C and 55°C (10,000 cycles). Data were analyzed using one- or two-way analysis of variance and Bonferroni post-hoc tests. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used for pairwise comparisons. Each resin composite presented with different mechanical properties, based on variations in the inorganic filler content. The flexural strength of each resin composite was significantly decreased after water storage. There has a positive correlation between flexural strength and dynamic hardness but a negative correlation between flexural strength and maximum wear depth. The types and contents of the inorganic fillers, the composition of the monomer in the resin matrix, and the addition of plasticizers can affect the properties of the material.

Abstract
Recent burgeoning development in material science has introduced a 3D-printable, nanohybrid composite resin restorative material. However, its performance has not yet been investigated. This study evaluates the stain susceptibility and efficacy of different stain removal techniques. A total of 120 labial veneers were fabricated using milling (n = 60) and SLA 3D-printing (n = 60). Based on the immersion media: coffee, tea and artificial saliva, each group was divided into three sub-groups (n = 20). Stain susceptibility was evaluated by calculating color difference (∆E00) at 12 and 24 days using a spectrophotometer against black and white backgrounds. Collected data were analyzed with ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc test (p < 0.05). A significant interaction effect was found between the staining mediums and fabrication methods in both black and white backgrounds (p < 0.001). 3D-printed restorations showed significantly higher stain susceptibility than milled restorations (p < 0.001). Prolonged immersion time increased the color difference in both groups. In-office bleaching was more effective in stain removal in both 3D-printed and milled restoration groups. The susceptibility of the presented novel 3D-printed restorative material to color changes in different immersion mediums was clinically not-acceptable. The clinicians might expect the need to replace the restoration after 1-2 years and thus, recommendation for the use of such a material as a permanent restoration cannot be made but rather as a long-term temporary restoration.

Abstract
Introduction: Having a beautiful smile is the main desire of people seeking dental treatment. To achieve this goal, many variables must be considered. These include tooth alignment, color, shape and size, besides their harmonious relationship with the lips and face. An individualized diagnosis is essential to achieve the best result. Within this context, facial analysis and the characteristics of shape, size and position of maxillary incisors play a key role. Methods: This paper describes clinical situations in which interdisciplinary treatment was performed to achieve esthetic results in a conservative manner and ensuring greater stability. In most cases requiring reshaping of maxillary incisors for esthetic reasons, prior orthodontic movement is essential. The main focus of this paper is to discuss the many variables involved in these situations. Results and Conclusion: The results of treatments described in this paper were obtained by means of a multidisciplinary approach, involving Orthodontics and Esthetic Dentistry, acting in harmony and recognizing their possibilities and limitations, in order to offer patients the best esthetic solution for their smile. The best treatment option is not always the easiest or fastest. The dentist, as a health professional, should consider the patients’ wishes but also perform treatments with minimal intervention, and the best and most predictable esthetic result, also focusing on function and health.

Abstract
Background Esthetic dental restorations have gained increasing popularity. The surface of restorations should be smooth enough to achieve maximum esthetics and prevent the adhesion of microorganisms and food particles. This study aimed to assess the surface roughness and color change of composite specimens following airflow usage. Methods In this in vitro, experimental study, 30 Tokuyama composite discs were fabricated and randomly divided into three groups (n = 10) for the use of airflow with calcium carbonate/bicarbonate powder and conventional polishing with FlexiDisc. The surface roughness of the specimens was measured by profilometry while the color change was assessed by measuring the L*, a* and b* color parameters using spectrophotometry before polishing (T1). The composite specimens were then polished for stain removal, and their surface roughness as well as color parameters were remeasured after polishing (T2). Paired t-test and Tukey’s test were applied for within-group and between-group comparisons. Results Significant differences were noted in roughness average (Ra) between airflow with calcium carbonate (0.251 ± 0.014 μm) and airflow with sodium bicarbonate (0.421 ± 0.208 μm), and between airflow with sodium bicarbonate and FlexiDisc (0.207 ± 0.076 μm) groups after polishing (P < 0.05). Regarding the correlation of change in surface roughness and color parameters at T1 and T2, an inverse correlation was noted between the change in surface roughness and all color parameters except for L*. In other words, reduction in surface roughness decreased the a* and b* color parameters. Conclusions Within the limitations of this study, the results showed that the airflow device used in this study had no significant difference with conventional polishing in terms of reduction in surface roughness and staining. Considering the cost and maintenance of the airflow device, it is not suggested as a suitable alternative to the conventional polishing procedures. Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term color stability of light-polymerized resin luting agents stored in different beverages. METHODS Eleven shades of two light-polymerized resin luting agents, Choice2 (A1, A2, B1, TRANSLUCENT, MILKY OPAQUE, and MILKY BRIGHT) and BeautiCem Veneer (H-Value, M-Value, L-Value, Ivory-D, Ivory-L) were selected in this study. Disk-shaped specimens were fabricated with 1.3 mm thickness and 15.0 mm diameter. A total of 198 specimens, 18 for each shade, were prepared and randomly divided into six storage conditions (purified water, coffee, cola, tea, red wine, and air). All shades of specimens were three times measured at three random locations (n = 9) at 24 h storage in air after specimen preparation and then measured after immersion at 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 mos. using a colorimeter. Then, the color difference (ΔE) between the specimens at 24 h after preparation and after storage in each liquid for 12 mos. was calculated. Statistical analysis was performed using Steele-Dwass multiple comparison test of the ΔE values or one-way ANOVA and Tukey's honest significant difference test. RESULTS For all immersion conditions, ΔE was significantly higher than air (control). The ΔE of the shades in the various storage conditions showed no significant difference between Purified Water-Cola and Coffee-Tea. Comparisons of the color components L*, a*, and b* for each shade showed different behaviors among the shades. CONCLUSIONS The results suggest that the color stability of light-polymerized resin luting agents may differ between different shades and beverages.

Abstract
Background. Post-cured composite resins exhibit improvements in physical and mechanical properties due to additional polymerization conversion. However, the post-curing techniques might influence the color stability of composite resin materials. Thus, this study evaluated the color stability of a nanofilled composite resin (Filtek Z350 XT - 3M ESPE) subjected to different post-curing techniques. Methods. Sixty samples (color A2) were randomly allocated to six experimental groups (n=10): G1: photoactivation (P) (control); G2: P + microwave oven with distilled water; G3: P + microwave oven without distilled water; G4: P + conventional oven; G5: P + dry-heat sterilizer; G6: P + steam autoclave. All the groups were stored in distilled water for 60 days and immersed daily in 5 mL of a coffee solution for 3 minutes. The color readings (CIEL*a*b* system) were performed at two different time intervals, initially and after 60 days, in a reflectance spectrophotometer (UV-2600; Shimadzu). The colorimetric readings were performed using the Color Analysis software (CIEL*a*b* system). Results. Group G6 exhibited significantly low values of total color change (ΔE=13.16). The control (ΔE=15.32) and G5 (ΔE=15.49) groups exhibited intermediate values, with no difference between them. In turn, the groups in which the resin was heated in a microwave (G2 ΔE=18.55 and G3 ΔE=19.45) exhibited the most significant color changes (one-way ANOVA and Tukey test, P ≤0.05). Conclusion. Steam autoclave post-polymerization increased the color stability of the nanofilled resin subjected to artificial aging and coffee immersion.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the clinical performance of resin composite restorations and to investigate causes of failure. MATERIALS AND METHODS The longevity of 216 restorations in 53 patients (mean age, 33.3 years) was retrospectively evaluated according to Fédération Dentaire Internationale (FDI) criteria. Dental history and photographic data were used to evaluate diastema closure (n = 199) and recontouring (n = 19) restorations comprising microhybrid (Essentia Universal, GC Corp.), nanohybrid (Ceram.x One, Dentsply Sirona), and nanofilled (Estelite Asteria, Tokuyama Dental) composites. Data were analyzed with the Kaplan-Meier log-rank test, Cox regression analysis, Pearson chi-square test. p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. The overall survival rate was 90.3 % and the mean survival duration was 46.2 months during the for 4 - year study period. The annual failure rate was 0.9 % - 3.4 %. Mean survival durations for diastema closure and recontouring restorations were 46.2 and 45.9 months, respectively (p = 0.328). Mean survival durations for Essentia Universal, Estelite Asteria, and Ceram.x One were 46.1, 46.7, and 45.7 months, respectively (p = 0.677). If we include failed restorations that were repaired and remained functional, the overall survival rate was 100 %. CONCLUSION Longevity was similar among composites and restoration types. The long-term clinical performance of monochromatic anterior composite restorations was robust. Composite repair may be suitable for diastema closure and recontouring restorations. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE There is a lack of long-term clinical evidence regarding the performance of direct anterior composite restorations. Monochromatic direct composite restorations may meet both the esthetic and functional expectations with even simpler restorative techniques. This 4 - year follow-up study evaluated the clinical performance of monochromatic anterior diastema closure and recontouring restorations with three different composite materials. The longevity of the restorations and the reasons for failure were investigated.

Abstract
Background Due to the increasing popularity of bulk fill resins, there is a concern that their components can be leached; this is because these are inserted in a single 4-5 mm increment. This in vitro study evaluated the microhardness, sorption, solubility, and color stability of three restorative bulk fill resins, namely: Filtek Bulk Fill (FBF), Tetric N-Ceram Bulk Fill (TNC), and Opus Bulk Fill (OBF).
Material and Methods Cylindrical samples were fabricated to be 15 mm in diameter and 1 mm thick (n = 10). For the microhardness test, three random indentations were formulated on the samples using a micro-durometer with a load of 300 gf for 15 s. Sorption and solubility were then evaluated (ISO 4049: 2009). Color stability was analyzed with a digital spectrophotometer three times (initially, after 24 h, and after 7 d) during immersion in coffee and distilled water (control). The Shapiro-Wilk test was applied to analyze normality. The Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used to compare the groups and the immersion solution, with a significance level of 5%.
Results There were a significant difference in microhardness (p<0.001), with the FBF group showing a higher value compared to the other groups (56.38). The highest average of sorption scores was observed in the OBF group (16.9 µg / mm3), followed by FBF (16.8 µg / mm3) and TNC (11.3 µg / mm3). Solubility was lowest in the OBF group (-2.83 µg / mm3), with a significant difference (p = 0.031). There was also a significant difference after 24 h in the mean ∆E score of all groups (p<0.005). After one week of immersion, the group that pigmented most was OBF (p = 0.008).
Conclusions The three bulk fill resins had acceptable hardness, sorption, and solubility values. However, all groups showed a high pigmentation rate after 7 d of immersion in coffee. Key words:Bulk fill, color stability, composite resins, microhardness, solubility, sorption.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the effects of factors 'composite,' 'medium,' and 'time' on color, translucency, and sorption/solubility of sculptable universal composites for enamel layering upon immersion in colored beverages. MATERIALS AND METHODS Disk-shaped specimens, 10 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick (n = 5/group), of ultrafine, hybrid composite Essentia (GC), microhybrid Gaenial Anterior (GC), nanofilled Filtek Ultimate Enamel and Body ( 3M ESPE) were immersed in red wine, coffee, or distilled water for 15 days. CIELab color coordinates were measured and CIEDE2000 (∆E00 ) and Translucency Parameter differences (∆TP00 ) were calculated. Sorption and solubility were determined according to ISO 4049:2009. Data were analyzed using the analyses of variance and Tukey's post-hoc test (α = 0.05). RESULTS Essentia and Gaenial exhibited the lowest and the highest staining-dependent color differences, with mean ∆E00 range of 1.7-6.1 and 5.1-11.3, respectively (p < 0.05). ∆TP00 was more pronounced in wine than in coffee (p < 0.05). Sorption and solubility varied between 9.8 and 15.3 μg/mm3 and -1.6 and -5.4 μg/mm3 , respectively, with positive correlation between ∆TP00 and sorption (p = 0.005). CONCLUSIONS Total color and translucency differences of sculptable composites for enamel layering were material-, time- and medium-dependent. Translucency differences positively correlated with sorption. Overall, the ultrafine, hybrid composite exhibited the best results in terms of color stability, sorption and solubility. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE Clinicians should be aware of differences in color stability of sculptable composites for enamel layering as these are directly exposed to discoloration in the oral environment and are directly related to patients' long-term satisfaction and restoration longevity. Ultrafine, hybrid composite may be preferred due to better color stability, lower sorption and solubility compared to nanofilled and microhybrid composites evaluated in this study.

Abstract
Objectives: To assess the color stability and surface microhardness of Bulk-Fill composite materials available in the Saudi Arabia market. Methods: Five composite materials (Filtek Z350, Filtek Bulk-Fill, Tetric N-Ceram Bulk-Fill, Sonic Fill 2, and SDR) were investigated. Samples (n = 20; 10 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness) were fabricated using a stainless-steel mold and were immersed in tea, coffee, berry juice, and distilled water (control). Baseline (T0) shades of specimens were recorded using a spectrophotometer and after 10 (T1), 30 (T2), 60 (T3), and 90 days (T4) of immersion. Measurements were obtained against a black background and CIE L*a*b* data was used to calculate ΔE for each group. Vickers microhardness values were obtained at T0 and T4. Data was analyzed using mixed model repeated measure ANOVA at 0.05 significance level. Results: Time, material, and solution effects have statistically significant effect on ΔE. Tea was the most staining solution. Z350 was associated with the highest ΔE values while SDR showed the lowest values. No other materials showed significant difference between each other. Solutions were statistically different from each other. All materials were different from each other regarding microhardness. Conclusion: Bulk-Fill materials showed more color stability but lower microhardness values compared to universal resin control.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Exceptional optical properties characterize teeth. As such, an esthetic restorative material should enable the dental professional to imitate the optical properties of natural teeth accurately. IPS Empress Direct was introduced to the market with the claim that it can mimic optically dental tissues with superior clinical performance. AIM To evaluate the ability of IPS Empress Direct to mimic tooth appearance and color and resist staining. MATERIALS AND METHODS Three disc specimens were prepared for each shade of enamel and dentin of Lucirin-based composite, IPS Empress Direct (Ivoclar Vivadent) (A1, A2, A3, B1, and B2) (total of 60). The specimens were submitted to colorimetric evaluation in comparison after immersion in 10 different solutions (coffee, coffee with sugar, coffee with milk, red tea, red tea with sugar, red tea with milk, tomato juice, pomegranate juice, coke, and distilled water as a control group) for 4 weeks using spectrophotometric analysis. RESULTS After plotting the data and conducting linear regression analyses, IPS Empress showed high potential in mimicking the optical properties of natural tooth color according to the CIE color space. Three solutions showed a change in color higher than 3, coffee, coffee with sugar, and red tea. All other solution showed changes in color that are acceptable clinically.
