Decision Fusion at Pixel Level of Multi-Band Data for Land Cover Classification-A Review

According to existing signatures for various kinds of land cover coming from different spectral bands, i.e., optical, thermal infrared and PolSAR, it is possible to infer about the land cover type having a single decision from each of the spectral bands. Fusing these decisions, it is possible to radically improve the reliability of the decision regarding each pixel, taking into consideration the correlation of the individual decisions of the specific pixel as well as additional information transferred from the pixels' neighborhood. Different remotely sensed data contribute their own information regarding the characteristics of the materials lying in each separate pixel. Hyperspectral and multispectral images give analytic information regarding the reflectance of each pixel in a very detailed manner. Thermal infrared images give valuable information regarding the temperature of the surface covered by each pixel, which is very important for recording thermal locations in urban regions. Finally, SAR data provide structural and electrical characteristics of each pixel. Combining information from some of these sources further improves the capability for reliable categorization of each pixel. The necessary mathematical background regarding pixel-based classification and decision fusion methods is analytically presented.

Satellite Network Security Routing Technology Based on Deep Learning and Trust Management

The conventional trust model employed in satellite network security routing algorithms exhibits limited accuracy in detecting malicious nodes and lacks adaptability when confronted with unknown attacks. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a secure satellite network routing technology founded on deep learning and trust management. The approach embraces the concept of distributed trust management, resulting in all satellite nodes in this paper being equipped with trust management and anomaly detection modules for assessing the security of neighboring nodes. In a more detailed breakdown, this technology commences by preprocessing the communication behavior of satellite network nodes using D-S evidence theory, effectively mitigating interference factors encountered during the training of VAE modules. Following this preprocessing step, the trust vector, which has undergone prior processing, is input into the VAE module. Once the VAE module's training is completed, the satellite network can assess safety factors by employing the safety module during the collection of trust evidence. Ultimately, these security factors can be integrated with the pheromone component within the ant colony algorithm to guide the ants in discovering pathways. Simulation results substantiate that the proposed satellite network secure routing algorithm effectively counters the impact of malicious nodes on data transmission within the network. When compared to the traditional trust management model of satellite network secure routing algorithms, the algorithm demonstrates enhancements in average end-to-end delay, packet loss rate, and throughput.

Uncover the reasons for performance differences between measurement functions (Provably)

Recently, an exciting experimental conclusion in Li et al. (Knowl Inf Syst 62(2):611-637, 1) about measures of uncertainty for knowledge bases has attracted great research interest for many scholars. However, these efforts lack solid theoretical interpretations for the experimental conclusion. The main limitation of their research is that the final experimental conclusions are only derived from experiments on three datasets, which makes it still unknown whether the conclusion is universal. In our work, we first review the mathematical theories, definitions, and tools for measuring the uncertainty of knowledge bases. Then, we provide a series of rigorous theoretical proofs to reveal the reasons for the superiority of using the knowledge amount of knowledge structure to measure the uncertainty of the knowledge bases. Combining with experiment results, we verify that knowledge amount has much better performance for measuring uncertainty of knowledge bases. Hence, we prove an empirical conclusion established through experiments from a mathematical point of view. In addition, we find that for some knowledge bases that cannot be classified by entity attributes, such as ProBase (a probabilistic taxonomy), our conclusion is still applicable. Therefore, our conclusions have a certain degree of universality and interpretability and provide a theoretical basis for measuring the uncertainty of many different types of knowledge bases, and the findings of this study have a number of important implications for future practice.

A Decision Probability Transformation Method Based on the Neural Network

When the Dempster-Shafer evidence theory is applied to the field of information fusion, how to reasonably transform the basic probability assignment (BPA) into probability to improve decision-making efficiency has been a key challenge. To address this challenge, this paper proposes an efficient probability transformation method based on neural network to achieve the transformation from the BPA to the probabilistic decision. First, a neural network is constructed based on the BPA of propositions in the mass function. Next, the average information content and the interval information content are used to quantify the information contained in each proposition subset and combined to construct the weighting function with parameter r. Then, the BPA of the input layer and the bias units are allocated to the proposition subset in each hidden layer according to the weight factors until the probability of each single-element proposition with the variable is output. Finally, the parameter r and the optimal transform results are obtained under the premise of maximizing the probabilistic information content. The proposed method satisfies the consistency of the upper and lower boundaries of each proposition. Extensive examples and a practical application show that, compared with the other methods, the proposed method not only has higher applicability, but also has lower uncertainty regarding the transformation result information.

SAR Image Fusion Classification Based on the Decision-Level Combination of Multi-Band Information

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is an active coherent microwave remote sensing system. SAR systems working in different bands have different imaging results for the same area, resulting in different advantages and limitations for SAR image classification. Therefore, to synthesize the classification information of SAR images into different bands, an SAR image fusion classification method based on the decision-level combination of multi-band information is proposed in this paper. Within the proposed method, the idea of Dempster–Shafer evidence theory is introduced to model the uncertainty of the classification result of each pixel and used to combine the classification results of multiple band SAR images. The convolutional neural network is used to classify single-band SAR images. Calculate the belief entropy of each pixel to measure the uncertainty of single-band classification, and generate the basic probability assignment function. The idea of the term frequency-inverse document frequency in natural language processing is combined with the conflict coefficient to obtain the weight of different bands. Meanwhile, the neighborhood classification of each pixel in different band sensors is considered to obtain the total weight of each band sensor, generate weighted average BPA, and obtain the final ground object classification result after fusion. The validity of the proposed method is verified in two groups of multi-band SAR image classification experiments, and the proposed method has effectively improved the accuracy compared to the modified average approach.
