Abstract
C-C coupling reactions represent a fundamental synthetic methodology widely employed in academic and industrial settings. Herein, we present a report on developing and synthesizing a heterogeneous catalyst that is environmentally compatible and has recycling capabilities. Furthermore, the utilization of this catalyst for C-C coupling reactions was explored. A novel amide-based CON was prepared via the reaction of a novel [2,2'-bipyridine]-5,5'-diamine (BDA) and 1,3,5-tris(4-carboxyphenyl) (TCB). TCB was activated with carbonyl diimidazole (CDI) and then reacted with BDA to synthesize favorable CON (i.e., CON-KEY1). Finally, the CON synthesized was reacted with palladium chloride ions, and the palladium-containing organocatalytic complex was decorated with the abbreviated Pd/CON-KEY1. This new heterogeneous complex was fully characterized through the required techniques, including FT-IR, EDX, XRD, TEM, SEM, ICP, TGA-DTA, N2 isotherms, and elemental mapping analysis. Computer simulation results include a multi-sheet 2D framework proposed by CON-KEY1. As a result, palladium ions were found to be arranged between the layers and on the CON surface. This heterogeneous complex functioned as a catalyst precursor in both the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction of aryl boronic acids with aryl halides and the Heck reaction of aryl halides with acrylate derivatives or styrene. The desired coupling products with various functional groups were successfully attained with excellent yields of up to 98%. Simple set-up, improved yields, short reaction times, non-toxic solvents, catalyst durability, and high turnover frequency are among the distinct advantages of this synthetic method. Some other outstanding features of this catalytic system include convenient separation of catalysts and products, high yields, almost complete conversion, high selectivity, and good turnover frequency (TOF). The results show that the highest product efficiency in the reaction was achieved in the shortest possible time using Pd/CON-KEY1. Theoretical studies demonstrated the precedence of the palladium complexation with nitrogen atoms of CON-KEY1 rather than oxygen ones. Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) analysis affirmed that the system with Pd-N bonds (Eg = 0.089 eV) is more reactive with high electron conductivity compared to the Pd-O system (Eg = 0.120 eV).

Abstract
Functionalization of nanocarriers has been considered the most promising way of ensuring an accurate and targeted drug delivery system. This study reports the synthesis of bifunctional folic-conjugated aspartic-modified Fe3O4 nanocarriers with an excellent ability to deliver doxorubicin (DOX), an anticancer drug, into the intercellular matrix. Here, the presence of amine and carboxylate groups enables aspartic acid (AA) to be used as an efficient anchoring molecule for the conjugation of folic acid (FA) (EDC-NHS coupling) and DOX (electrostatic interaction). Based on the results, surface functionalization showed little effect on the physicochemical properties of the nanoparticles but significantly influenced both the loading and release efficiency of DOX. This is primarily caused by the steric hindrance effect due to large and bulky FA molecules. Furthermore, in vitro MTT assay of B16-F1 cell lines revealed that FA conjugation was responsible for a significant increase in the cytotoxicity of DOX-loaded nanocarriers, which was also found to be proportional to AA concentration. This high cytotoxicity resulted from an efficient cellular uptake induced by the over-expressed folate receptors and fast pH triggered DOX release inside the target cell. Here, the lowest IC50 value of DOX-loaded nanocarriers was achieved at 2.814 ± 0.449 μg mL-1. Besides, further investigation also showed that the drug-loaded nanocarriers exhibited less or no toxicity against normal cells.

Abstract
Efforts are made to perform an early and accurate detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by simultaneous exploiting multiple clinically non-invasive imaging modalities. Original nanostructures derived from the combination of different inorganic domains can be used as efficient contrast agents in multimodal imaging. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) and Au nanoparticles (NPs) possess well-established contrasting features in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and X-ray computed tomography (CT), respectively. HCC can be targeted by using specific carbohydrates able to recognize asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 (ASGPR1) overexpressed in hepatocytes. Here, two different thiocarbohydrate ligands were purposely designed and alternatively conjugated to the surface of Au-speckled silica-coated SPIONs NPs, to achieve two original nanostructures that could be potentially used for dual mode targeted imaging of HCC. The results indicated that the two thiocarbohydrate decorated nanostructures possess convenient plasmonic/superparamagnetic properties, well-controlled size and morphology and good selectivity for targeting ASGPR1 receptor.

Abstract
We report the development of pH-labile ascorbic acid-coated magnetic nanocarriers (AMNCs) for effective delivery of the anticancer drug doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) to tumor cells. The uniqueness of this drug delivery system lies in the covalent conjugation of DOX through carbamate and hydrazone bonds, resulting in a slow and sustained drug release profile at different environmental acidities. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analyses reveal the formation of crystalline single-phase Fe3O4 nanoparticles with an average size of 10 nm. The changes in the interfacial characteristics of the nanocarriers and the presence of organic coatings are probed by infrared spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, and thermogravimetric measurements. AMNCs show high colloidal stability in aqueous and cell culture media and possess good magnetic field responsivity and protein resistance characteristics. The drug-loaded nanocarriers exhibited sustained pH-triggered release of drug molecules in acidic mediums, substantial cellular internalization, and significant toxicity toward the proliferation of mouse skin fibrosarcoma (WEHI-164), human breast cancer (MCF-7), and human lung cancer (A549) cells. However, it showed significantly lower toxicity in human normal lung (WI26VA) cells. Overall, these results suggest a pH-sensitive drug release of nanoformulations, which showed selective toxicity to tumor than normal cells.

Abstract
A novel palladium-silica complex was prepared and characterized. This complex is a highly efficient and easily recyclable catalyst for Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reaction under mild aqueous conditions, and can be reused efficiently up to 6 consecutive runs.
