Abstract
Since the advent of photocatalytic degradation technology, it has brought new vitality to the environmental governance and the response to the energy crisis. Photocatalysts harvest optical energy to drive chemical reactions, which means people can use solar energy to complete some resource-consuming activities by photocatalysts, such as environmental governance. In recent years, researchers have tried to combine photocatalyst TiO2 with building materials to purify urban air and obtained good results. One of the important functions of photocatalysts is to degrade organic pollutants in water through light energy, but this technology has not been reported in the practical application areas. To extend this technology to practical application areas, photocatalytic concrete for degrading pollutants in waters was proposed and demonstrated for the first time in this paper. The photocatalytic concrete proposed based on the K-g-C3N4 shows a strong ability to degrade the organic dyes. According to the experiment results, the angle of light source plays an important role in the process of photocatalytic degradation, while waters with pH value of 6.5-8.5 hardly influenced the degradation of organic dyes. When the angle of light source is advantageous for photocatalytic concrete to absorb more visible light, more organic dyes will be degraded by photocatalytic concrete. The degradation rate of methylene blue could reach about 80% in ½ hour under desirable conditions and is satisfied compared with that of reported works. This study implicates that photocatalytic concrete can effectively degrade organic dyes in water. The influences of changes in the water environment hardly affect the degradation of organic pollutants, which means photocatalytic concrete can be widely used in green infrastructures to achieve urban sewage treatment.

Abstract
Photocatalysis, as a low-cost and environment friendly technology, has demonstrated a significant potential for water pollution purification; it has received extensive attention in recent decades. The key is the photocatalyst; a large number of photocatalysts have been developed. To better understand and further develop the photocatalysis technology for water treatment, this review summarizes its development over time. The development period is divided into four stages (1960s-1993, 1994-2000, 2001-2010, and 2011-present) to provide readers with a better understanding of the development characteristics, and causes and consequences of each historical stage. This review expounds the origin and development of photocatalysis and the obstacles encountered and overcome. It describes the development of mechanisms and methods to solve these problems in each time period. Moreover, it reviews the recent development of new photocatalysts, the concept of designing photocatalysts, and photocatalytic-coupling systems. Finally, it enumerates the problems that continue to exist in the application of photocatalysis technology, and highlights the key issues that must be addressed in future research. The review is aimed at providing the researchers with a deeper understanding of photocatalysis technology and encourage further development of the application of photocatalysis to water treatment.

Abstract
The development of advanced materials for heterogeneous catalytic applications requires fine control over the synthesis and structural parameters of the active site. Mesoporous silica materials have attracted increasing attention to be considered as an important class of nanostructured support materials in heterogeneous catalysis. Their large surface area, well-defined porous architecture and ability to incorporate metal atoms within the mesopores lead them to be a promising support material for designing a variety of different catalysts. In particular, SBA-15 mesoporous silica has its broad applicability in catalysis because of its comparatively thicker walls leading to higher thermal and mechanical stability. In this review article, various strategies to functionalize SBA-15 mesoporous silica have been reviewed with a view to evaluating its efficacy in different catalytic transformation reactions. Special attention has been given to the molecular engineering of the silica surface, within the framework and within the hexagonal mesoporous channels for anchoring metal oxides, single-site species and metal nanoparticles (NPs) serving as catalytically active sites.

Abstract
Silica-based micro-, meso-, macro-porous materials offer attractive routes for designing single-site photocatalysts, supporting semiconducting nanoparticles, anchoring light-responsive metal complexes, and encapsulating metal nanoparticles to drive photochemical reactions by taking advantage of their large surface area, controllable pore channels, remarkable transparency to UV/vis and tailorable physicochemical surface characteristics. This review mainly focuses on the fascinating photocatalytic properties of silica-supported Ti catalysts from single-site catalysts to nanoparticles, their surface-chemistry engineering, such as the hydrophobic modification and synthesis of thin films, and the fabrication of nanocatalysts including morphology controlled plasmonic nanostructures with localized surface plasmon resonance. The hybridization of visible-light responsive metal complexes with porous materials for the construction of functional inorganic-organic supramolecular photocatalysts is also included. In addition, the latest progress in the application of MOFs as excellent hosts for designing photocatalytic systems is described.

Abstract
We report an experimental investigation of structural and adhesive properties for Al-containing mesoporous MCM-41 and MCM-41 surfaces. In this work, highly ordered hexagonal mesoporous structures of aluminosilica with two different Si/Al molar ratios equal to 50 and 80 and silica samples were studied; Al was incorporated into the MCM-41 structures using the direct synthesis method, with CTAB as a surfactant. The incorporation of aluminum was evidenced simultaneously without any change in the hexagonal arrangement of cylindrical mesopores. The porous materials were examined by techniques such as low-temperature nitrogen sorption, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, and scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Surface properties were determined through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, potentiometric titration, and static contact angle measurements. It was shown that an increase in surface acidity leads to an increase in the wetting energy of the surface. To investigate the influence of acidity on the confinement effects, the melting behavior of water in Al-MCM-41 and MCM-41 with the same pore size was determined by using dielectric relaxation spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry methods. We found that the melting-point depression of water in pores is larger in the functionalized pores than in pure silica pores of the same pore diameter.

Abstract
In the past decades, various photocatalysts such as TiO2, transition-metal-oxide moieties within cavities and frameworks, or metal complexes have attracted considerable attention in light-excited catalytic processes. Owing to high surface areas, transparency to UV and visible light as well as easily modified surfaces, mesoporous silica-based materials have been widely used as excellent hosts for designing efficient photocatalytic systems under the background of environmental remediation and solar-energy utilization. This Minireview mainly focuses on the surface-chemistry engineering of TiO2/mesoporous silica photocatalytic systems and fabrication of binary oxides and nanocatalysts in mesoporous single-site-photocatalyst frameworks. Recently, metallic nanostructures with localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) have been widely studied in catalytic applications harvesting light irradiation. Accordingly, silver and gold nanostructures confined in mesoporous silica and their corresponding catalytic activity enhanced by the LSPR effect will be introduced. In addition, the integration of metal complexes within mesoporous silica materials for the construction of functional inorganic-organic supramolecular photocatalysts will be briefly described.

Abstract
This study concerns single-site heterogeneous photocatalysts, composed of isolated transition metals ions (single-sites) dispersed on silica-based supports, which can be used as photocatalysts. The first part gives the definition of single-site heterogeneous catalysts. The main difficulty to prepare the latter resides in the speciation of the key elements (metal of the catalytically active phase and oxygen of the solid support) and other species (notably counter ions and ligands) the presence of which depends on the synthesis method adopted. The best preparation methods as well as the ideal features of single-site heterogeneous photocatalysts are discussed before the study focuses on single-site heterogeneous photocatalysts. Case studies are presented with photocatalysts involving titanium and chromium, and their photocatalytic reactions such as CO

Abstract
A simple and unique route to synthesize nanosize Pd particles using a zeolite support including a single-site Ti oxide moiety (TS-1) under UV-light irradiation has been developed. By the photoassisted deposition (PAD) method, a Pd precursor can be deposited directly on the photoexcited tetrahedrally coordinated Ti oxide moiety within the zeolite frameworks from an aqueous solution of Pd. The subsequent reduction with H2 generates the nanosized Pd metal particles with a narrow size distribution (PAD-Pd/TS-1). Characterization by XAFS and TEM analysis revealed that the size of the metal particles depends on the preparation methods and that the smaller sizes of Pd nanoparticles were formed on the photodeposited catalysts compared with the conventionally prepared impregnated catalysts. PAD also provides PdAu bimetallic nanoparticles from an aqueous solution of mixture of PdCl2 and HAuCl4. The catalytic activities in the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) using H2 and O2 gases under atmospheric pressure were strongly dependent on the preparation method and the presence of Au atoms. Here, both deposition of PdAu onto the TS-1 moiety under UV-light irradiation was the most efficient for the above reaction. The applicability of the present catalytic system is highlighted by the one-pot reaction of phenol using PAD-Pd/TS-1 in the presence of H2 and O2, in which both Pd nanoparticles and isolated Ti oxide moieties within the frameworks participate in the formation of H2O2 and oxidation of phenol, respectively.
