Fractional view analysis of sexual transmitted human papilloma virus infection for public health

The infection of human papilloma virus (HPV) poses a global public health challenge, particularly in regions with limited access to health care and preventive measures, contributing to health disparities and increased disease burden. In this research work, we present a new model to explore the transmission dynamics of HPV infection, incorporating the impact of vaccination through the Atangana-Baleanu derivative. We establish the positivity and uniqueness of the solution for the proposed model HPV infection. The threshold parameter is determined through the next-generation matrix method, symbolized by [Formula: see text]. Moreover, we investigate the local asymptotic stability of the infection-free steady-state of the system. The existence of the solutions of the recommended model is determined through fixed-point theory. A numerical scheme is presented to visualize the dynamical behavior of the system with variation of input factors. We have shown the impact of input parameters on the dynamics of the system through numerical simulations. The findings of our investigation delineated the principal parameters exerting significant influence for the control and prevention of HPV infection.

Understanding the mechanisms of HPV-related carcinogenesis: Implications for cell cycle dynamics

The role of human papillomavirus (HPV) as a causative agent for epithelial cancers is well-known, but many open questions remain regarding the downstream gene regulatory effects of viral proteins E6 and E7 on the cell cycle. Here, we extend a cell cycle model originally presented by Gérard and Goldbeter (2009) in order to capture the effects of E6 and E7 on key actors in the cell cycle. Results suggest that E6 is sufficient to reverse p53-induced quiescence, while E7 is sufficient to reverse p16INK4a-induced quiescence; both E6 and E7 are necessary when p53 and p16INK4a are both active. Moreover, E7 appears to play a role as a "growth factor substitute", inducing cell division in the absence of growth factor. Low levels of E7 may permit regular cell division, but the results suggest that higher levels of E7 dysregulate the cell cycle in ways that may destabilize the cellular genome. The mechanisms explored here provide opportunities for developing new treatment targets that take advantage of the cell cycle regulatory system to prevent HPV-related cancer effects.

The prevalence and clinicopathological correlation of human papillomavirus in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma in India: A systematic review article

OBJECTIVE

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) pose a great danger to society and now we have shreds of evidence for Human Papillomavirus (HPV) being one of the major causative agents for it. Though the prevalence of HPV varies throughout the world, it is gradually on the rise. The present systematic review aims to retrospect all the available studies on the prevalence of HPV in HNSCC in India and its clinicopathological aspect to study how it is different from HPV negative HNSCC.

METHODS

An objective electronic database search was conducted in PUBMED Central, MeSH, NLM Catalog, Bookshelf, and PUBMED published in 25 years period from 1994 till 2019. A total of 33 articles were shortlisted for the present review.

RESULTS

Studies conducted across India show the prevalence of HPV in Head and Neck Cancers ranging from 0-86.6%. Some studies reported that HPV positive HNSCC is more common in younger age, presents with advanced stage disease, and more commonly presents with nodal metastasis. As opposed to western literature HPV positive HNSCC in India is associated with a well-differentiated tumor grade. There is no difference in treatment outcome and survival among HPV positive and negative HNSCC.

CONCLUSION

Exact prevalence of HPV in HNSCC is still doubtful but now we have some insight into it. The prevalence of HPV in Indian HNSCC patients has risen gradually but treatment outcome and survival may be poorer compared to other countries. However definite conclusions cannot be drawn without proper prospective study.

Stability analysis and optimal control of HPV infection model with early-stage cervical cancer

Cervical cancer cells may develop from any cell infected by human papillomavirus (HPV). The aim of this paper is to study whether an optimal control of HPV infection can reduce those resulting cancer cells. To this end, the problem will be modelled by five differential equations that describe the interactions between healthy cells, infected cells, free virus, precancerous cells and cancer cells. A saturated infection rate and two treatments are incorporated into the model. The first therapy stands for the efficacy of drug treatment in blocking new infections, whereas the second serves as the drug effectiveness in inhibiting viral production. First, The problem well-posedness is fulfilled in terms of existence, positivity and boundedness of solution. Next, the existence for the two optimal control pair is established, Pontryagin's maximum principle is used to characterize these two optimal controls. Moreover, the optimality system is derived and solved numerically using the forward and backward difference approximation scheme. Finally, numerical simulations are established in order to show the role of optimal therapy in controlling cancer cells proliferation. It was revealed that the antiviral drug therapies do not act only on the viral infection spread but also on reducing the amount of precancerous and cancerous cells. Consequently, the antiviral therapies can be considered amongst the most promising measures to reduce cervical cancer cells invasion.
