Abstract
Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) is a relatively common retinal disorder that leads to central vision impairment, often with a high recurrence rate. The exact etiology and pathogenetic mechanisms have not been fully elucidated but are likely to be associated with hyperpermeability of the choroidal capillaries and failure of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), leading to serous detachment of the neurosensory retina. Multimodal imaging plays a critical role in the diagnostic approach and monitoring of CSCR. Fortunately, the natural course of the disease is usually self-limiting, with spontaneous resolution and total fluid reabsorption. However, some patients may exhibit recurrences or persistent subretinal fluid (chronic CSCR), leading to progressive and irreversible RPE atrophy or photoreceptor damage. Thus, to prevent permanent visual loss, individualized treatment should be considered. Recent developments in the diagnostic and therapeutic approach have contributed to better outcomes in patients with CSCR. More studies are required to improve our understanding of epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment, with a significant impact on the management of this challenging clinical entity. The purpose of this review is to summarize the current knowledge about the clinical features, diagnostic workup, and therapeutic approach of CSCR.

Abstract
PURPOSE We evaluate morphological and functional correlations in patients with acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). METHODS A prospective study was conducted on 50 patients with an acute CSC episode lasting less than 3 months. At baseline, assessments included optical coherence tomography (OCT), best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), contrast sensitivity (CS), microperimetry (MP), and multifocal electroretinography (mfERG). A correlation analysis between OCT morphological parameters (maximal subretinal fluid height (SRF), central retinal thickness (CRT), and macular volume (MV)) and functional parameters was conducted on the affected eye for each patient. RESULTS Among the morphological parameters, SRF showed the strongest correlations with functional parameters (r absolute value range = 0.10-0.70). Weak correlations were observed between BCVA and morphological parameters (r absolute value range = 0.14-0.26). Average retinal sensitivity (MP-A) was the functional parameter displaying the most robust negative correlation with morphological parameters (r absolute value range = 0.61-0.70). In contrast, average contrast sensitivity (CS-A) and mfERG average amplitude density in the first (mfERG-A1) and second (mfERG-A2) ring showed weak to moderate (r absolute value range = 0.35-0.56) yet statistically significantly nonzero correlations. CONCLUSIONS SRF and CRT could serve as the most representative morphological proxies for visual function deficit in acute CSC patients. Retinal sensitivity, as measured by MP, may be superior to BCVA in clinical research studies or when an in-depth visual function evaluation is needed.

Abstract
PURPOSE To examine (1) the retinal structure by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and function by means of multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) in eyes with and without nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) (2) for correspondence between local retinal function and OCT zones with retinal lesions. METHODS One hundred and thirty-two eligible participants (30 with nonproliferative DR (NPDR) and 102 with diabetes with no DR) underwent comprehensive ophthalmic examination, optical coherence tomography for retinal thickness measures, mfERG, and ultra-wide field fundus photography. OCT Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) grid was overlaid on to mfERG plots. RESULTS Those with NPDR had significantly thicker full retinal measures in the nine (ETDRS) zones compared to no DR. mfERG P1 latencies in rings 1-6 were significantly delayed, while the response densities in rings 4-6 were lower in the NPDR group. Significant negative correlation was noted between OCT thickness and mfERG P1 response densities in many ETDRS zones. Significant positive correlation was noted between P1 latencies and OCT thickness in a few zones. The combination of cystic spaces, microaneurysms, and hard exudates were present in all zones and were associated with a decrease in P1 response densities compared to no lesions. Reduced P1 response densities were associated with a sporadic delay in the mfERG latencies and vice versa. The number of lesions did not show correspondence to the mfERG measures. CONCLUSIONS In eyes with NPDR, retinal function is differentially correlated with the DR lesions on OCT and can be assessed using multimodal imaging modalities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Half-dose photodynamic therapy (HD-PDT) has been widely used for central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) with good anatomical results. However, long-term functional outcomes after this treatment remain uncertain. This study aimed a longitudinal multimodal macular assessment, correlating functional and anatomical outcomes. METHODS This is a retrospective study performed in a tertiary referral center including 111 eyes from 95 CSC patients. Data on best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central macular thickness (CMT), central retinal sensitivity (CRS) using microperimetry (MP) and multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) at baseline and 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48 and 60 months after treatment were registered. A correlation analysis was performed. RESULTS Mean follow-up was 34.5 ± 26.3 months. A significant improvement in BCVA and CMT was registered in all the visits. CRS significantly improved until 24 months (p<0.001 at 12 months, p<0.05 at 24 months), worsening afterwards. The mfERG amplitude of N1 and P1 waves significantly improved in the first 12 months, aggravating afterwards. The implicit time improved until 24 months, deteriorating after 48 months. This long-term decline was also described in some inactive untreated fellow eyes CONCLUSIONS: : A multimodal longitudinal analysis of CSC patients after HD-PDT shows that, after the first 12 to 24 months, the significant sustained improvement in BCVA and CMT is not paired by a sustained improvement in macular sensitivity or electrical response. This long-term functional deterioration might result from the disease itself and not directly from the treatment.

Abstract
Purpose: To compare observation versus subthreshold green laser (STL) in acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) in terms of anatomical and functional outcomes. Methods: Prospective randomized interventional study. 30 eyes with the first episode of acute CSC underwent complete ophthalmologic examination, measurement of best-corrected Snellen visual acuity (BCVA), contrast sensitivity (CS), fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA), spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), and multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) at baseline. Patients were randomized equally to group A (observation) or group B (STL using 532 nm wavelength applied to the leakage point). Outcome measures included BCVA, CS, central foveal thickness (CFT), and mean macular thickness (MMT) on SD-OCT and P1 amplitude and implicit time (IT) on mfERG. Patients were followed up for 6 months. Results: Mean BCVA was comparable between the two groups on follow up; however, mean CS was significantly higher in group B at 6 months (P = 0.032). CFT was significantly lower in group B at 1 month (P = 0.001) and 3 months (P = 0.049); however, this difference was not maintained at 6 months (P = 0.265). P1 amplitude and IT in all 5 rings were comparable between the two groups at baseline. On follow up, P1 amplitude of ring 1 became significantly higher in group B at 3 months (P = 0.036) and 6 months (P = 0.022). Conclusion: Immediate treatment of acute CSC with STL, as compared to conservative management, leads to more rapid resolution on SD-OCT and superior functional outcomes as evidenced by CS and mfERG.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To evaluate the pattern electroretinography (PERG) in patients with acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) at baseline and after spontaneous resolution. METHODS A total of 32 patients (mean ± SD age: 38.8 ± 8.2 years, 71.9 per cent female) with unilateral acute CSCR and spontaneous resolution during follow-up period were included. The unaffected eyes of the study patients comprised the control group. The best-corrected visual acuity, PERG and optical coherence tomography findings were recorded both at baseline and following spontaneous resolution at two to four months. RESULTS The P50 and N95 amplitudes of the affected eyes were significantly lower than the control group both at baseline and after CSCR resolution (p < 0.001 for each). A significant increase was noted in both P50 and N95 amplitudes of the affected eyes from baseline to post-resolution (p < 0.001 for each). Subfoveal choroidal thickness was significantly higher in the affected eyes as compared with control eyes both at the baseline and after CSCR resolution along with a significant decrease in the affected eyes from baseline to post-resolution (p < 0.001 for each). The central retinal thickness was higher in the affected eyes as compared with the control eyes at baseline (p = 0.009), along with a significant decrease in the affected eyes from baseline to post-resolution (p < 0.001). Between the baseline P50 amplitude and the visual acuities of the affected eyes, a strong correlation was noted at baseline (r = -0.691, p < 0.001) and a moderate correlation was noted after CSCR resolution (r = -0.422, p = 0.031). CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, our findings revealed an association of CSCR with impaired P50 and N95 amplitudes and a significant improvement but not a complete recovery in both parameters after CSCR resolution. Our findings emphasise potential utility of PERG in the electrophysiological evaluation of functional impairment in CSCR patients and the likelihood of P50 amplitude to have a prognostic value in CSCR.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) parameters in eyes with diabetic macular edema (DME) and its correlation with vision and optical coherence tomography (OCT) features. METHODS Fifty-four eyes of 27 subjects with DME due to nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy were evaluated. MfERG responses were measured in three concentric rings. Macular thickness was measured by OCT in each segment of the three concentric rings, and mfERG rings were superimposed on the macular thickness map. The correlation between macular thickness in specific points of the thickness map and changes of the mfERG parameters in the corresponding points of the mfERG field map was evaluated and the relationship between the OCT and mfERG changes and changes of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was investigated. The central foveal B-scans of SD-OCT were used to evaluate any correlation between the external limiting membrane (ELM) status, ellipsoid zone (EZ) status, presence of cysts or disorganization of retinal inner layers (DRIL), and mfERG parameters at the central corresponding area. RESULTS The mean of BCVA was 0.5 ± 0.3 in logMAR, and the central macular thickness was 392.6 ± 123.4 microns. The central ring P1 and N2 amplitudes had a significant correlation with BCVA in univariate and multivariate analyses (P = 0.001 for both, r = - 0.346 and r = - 0.646, respectively). There was a significant correlation between retinal thickness and the N1 amplitude in the central ring (P = 0.02, r = - 0.343). Outer retinal layer disruption (ELM and EZ) correlated with prolonged P1 implicit time at the corresponding location (P = 0.005, r = 0.068). The presence of the DRIL was associated with reduced P1 and N2 amplitudes (P = 0.037, r = - 0.284 and P = 0.019, r = - 0.562, respectively). A significant correlation was also found between the presence of cysts and a lower central P1 amplitude (P = 0.033, r = - 0.376). CONCLUSION In diabetic patients, discrete changes of some parameters in the central ring of the mfERG field map (e.g., P1 and N2 amplitudes) have a significant correlation with both structural OCT abnormalities in the corresponding points of the thickness map (like DRIL, intraretinal cyst and ELM/EZ disruption) and BCVA. Predictive models such as those described in this report may make it possible to identify the relationship between specific anatomical and functional characteristics in diabetic retinopathy.

The investigation of clinical and multimodal imaging factors influencing the duration of first, acute, and treatment-naive CSCR episodes by survival analysis showed that higher subfoveal choroidal thickness, higher pigment epithelial detachment or bump at leakage sites, and older age were independent predictors of longer episodes. Purpose: To evaluate the influence of clinical and multimodal imaging parameters on the duration of acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) episodes. Methods: Consecutive patients with first, treatment-naïve central serous chorioretinopathy episodes presenting within 20 days of symptoms onset were prospectively included. They were reevaluated 15 days to 20 days later, followed by monthly evaluation for 6 months. Subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT), fluorescein leakage intensity on fluorescein angiography, elevation of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) lesions at leakage sites, focal/multifocal pattern of indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) at baseline, time-dependent pattern of subretinal fluid (SRF) resorption on OCT using volume segmentation, history of corticosteroid intake and mean blood pressure were evaluated using univariate (Log rank test) and multivariate (Cox proportional hazard regression) survival analysis. Results: Thirty-one patients were included (26 men, 5 women, mean age: 40.0 ± 8.9 years, range: 24–58), of which 26 (84%) had episode resolution by 6 months. Using univariate analysis, episode duration was longer in cases with subfoveal choroidal thickness ≥500 μm (P = 0.0002), retinal pigment epithelium elevation at leakage sites ≥50 μm (P = 0.033), and a peak in subretinal fluid observed during follow-up (P = 0.013), and there was a near-significant association of intense fluorescein leakage (P = 0.074) with longer episodes. Using multivariate analysis, subfoveal choroidal thickness ≥500 μm (P = 0.017), retinal pigment epithelium elevation at leakage sites ≥50 μm (P = 0.010) and patient age ≥40 years (P = 0.010) were significantly and independently associated to longer episodes. Indocyanine green angiography pattern, corticosteroid intake, and blood pressure did not influence episode duration. Conclusion: Older age, higher subfoveal choroidal thickness, and higher degree of retinal pigment epithelium alteration at leakage sites are independent factors of longer acute central serous chorioretinopathy episodes.

Abstract
Purpose To investigate the clinical value of multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) and microperimetry and the effects of intravitreal therapy with ranibizumab (Lucentis®) on macular function in the course of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). Materials and methods We conducted a prospective single-arm interventional cohort study with 20 nAMD patients older than 50 years. Examinations were scheduled monthly for 1 year during intravitreal therapy with ranibizumab. The examinations included mfERG, microperimetry, spectral domain optical coherence tomography, and best-corrected visual acuity using ETDRS score. Results During the 12-month observation period, a significant positive linear correlation between the logarithm of minimum angle of resolution (logMAR) and scotoma area (r=0.28, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.21–0.35), between logMAR and fovea thickness in optical coherence tomography (r=0.11, 95% CI 0.04–0.2), and a significant negative correlation between logMAR and mfERG (−0.37, 95% CI −0.43 to −0.31) were observed. A significant ranibizumab effect on logMAR was found (P=0.0065). From a total of 25 relapses, 14 were able to be predicted correctly by mfERG P1 decrease in the preceding month. However, there was no statistically significant relation between prediction and observed relapses (Fisher’s exact test, P=0.6726). Conclusion Our results indicate a possible role of mfERG and microperimetry in the monitoring of macular function and prediction of recurrence during intravitreal pharmacotherapy in wet AMD.

Abstract
Purpose To test the efficacy of the intravitreal dexamethasone (DEX) implant in patients with retinal vein occlusions (RVOs) who have failed multiple anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatments. Methods A randomized exploratory study of ten patients with branch RVO or central RVO who received at least two previous anti-VEGF treatments and had persistent or unresponsive cystoid macular edema. Treatment with the DEX implant was either every 4 months or pro re nata (PRN) depending on their group assignment for 1 year. Multifocal electroretinography and microperimetry were the primary end points, with high-resolution optical coherence tomography and best-corrected visual acuity as the secondary end points. Results All patients in both the every 4 month and PRN cohorts who completed the study received the three maximal injections of DEX; therefore, the data from both cohorts were combined and reported as a case series. On average, the multifocal electroretinography amplitude increased significantly from 5.11±0.66 to 24.19±5.30 nV/deg2 at 12 months (P<0.005), mean macular sensitivity increased from 7.67±2.10 to 8.01±1.98 dB at 4 months (P=0.32), best-corrected visual acuity increased significantly from 51.0±5.1 to 55.4±5.1 early treatment of diabetic retinopathy study letters at 2 months (P<0.05), and central retinal thickness decreased from 427.6±39.5 to 367.1±37.8 μm at 4 months (P<0.05). Intraocular pressure increased significantly in one patient, with that patient requiring an additional glaucoma medication for management. Additionally, cataract progression increased significantly (P<0.05) in this patient population and partially limited analysis of other end points. Conclusion DEX should be considered as a treatment option in patients with RVOs who have failed anti-VEGF therapy, as the results of this study demonstrated an improvement in retinal morphology and macular function. Cataract progression did occur following multiple consecutive injections; however, steroid-induced glaucoma was not a limiting factor.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate a morphology score for drusenoid pigment epithelial detachment (dPED) regarding predictability of a decline in retinal function beyond best-corrected visual acuity. METHODS Thirteen eyes of 10 patients with dPED due to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) were included (age 72.8 ± 4.2 years). All underwent volume spectral domain optical coherence tomography, fluorescence angiography, and confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopy infrared imaging as well as multifocal electroretinography and microperimetry. The dPED morphology score suggested consists of five parameters: hyperreflective spots in infrared, lesion diameter, lesion height, presence of vitelliform-like material in the subretinal space or subretinal fluid, and integrity of the ellipsoid zone in spectral domain optical coherence tomography. Subsequently, a score value between 0 and 1 according to the extent of morphologic changes was correlated to foveal multifocal electroretinography and microperimetry measurements. RESULTS The mean best-corrected visual acuity was 20/40. The mean height and mean diameter of dPED were 312.2 ± 111 μm and 2,535 ± 805 μm. Two dPED showed no hyperreflective spots in confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopy infrared images, three displayed a moderate stage of hyperreflective spots, and eight had severe hyperreflective spots. Two eyes showed subretinal fluid, and five patients showed vitelliform-like material in the subretinal space. Eight eyes revealed a severe disruption of the ellipsoid zone. Although no correlation was found between dPED morphology score and best-corrected visual acuity, eyes with a dPED morphology score >0.5 revealed distinctly decreased values in functional measurements compared with those with a score ≤0.5. CONCLUSION The dPED morphology score aggregates all currently known morphologic changes in dPED and represents a valuable tool for clinical lesion evaluation. Furthermore, it allows for assessing an estimate of functional decline beyond best-corrected visual acuity.

Abstract
Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) is considered a benign, self-limiting disease. However, as many as third of the patients have recurrent episodes or chronic disease that may cause significant functional impairment. New diagnostic tools and new treatment modalities are emerging in order to improve the functional outcomes of these patients. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) has the ability to image individual layers of the retina and choroid. SD-OCT images in CSCR patients have demonstrated increased subfoveal thickness measurements, high reflective deposits in areas of subretinal precipitates and changes in the Retinal pigment epithelium layers of the asymptomatic eyes of patients with supposedly unilateral CSCR. A positive correlation was found between the level of distribution to the layer of inner segment/outer segment junction of the photoreceptors and the visual impairment. Fundus autoflouresence images show a wide variety during different stages of the disease in CSCR patients. Minimal abnormalities during the early stages are followed by hyperautofluoresence in the detached area in later stages, often in a manner of inferior gravitation and at the borders of the detachments. The chronic phase is characterized by varying degrees of atrophy and areas of decreased autofluorescence surrounding areas of chronic leaks. These changes help differentiate an active disease from an inactive state. Multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) has the ability to demonstrate a persistent depression despite the resolution of subretinal detachments. It is therefore being investigated as a follow up tool for patients with chronic CSCR. An excellent correlation was found between changes in mfERG and visual function. Macular microperimetry, measuring retinal sensitivity within the central visual field, is intended to compensate for the underestimation of visual impairment in patients with macular diseases. Reduced retinal sensitivity was found in areas of previous subretinal fluids in CSCR patients. The device can also serve as a follow up tool in these patients. Regarding treatment in CSCR patients, focal argon laser photocoagulation treatment may be applied to small extrafoveal leaks. However, the main purpose of this treatment is to shorten disease duration, with no advantage over observation regarding final visual outcome, rate of progression to chronic CSCR or number of recurrences. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin has been shown to completely resolve serous detachment in 60%-80% of patients and to have a partial affect in the remaining patients. Reduced-fluence treatment is replacing full-fluence therapy in order to minimize side effects with no accompanying reduced effectiveness. Visual acuity is also improved following reduced-fluence PDT compared to placebo. It has also been found that patients with intense hyperfluorescence are more likely to show resolution of accumulating fluid compared to patients with mild or no leakage observed on indocyanine-green angiography prior to treatment. Regarding newer treatment modalities, intravitreal injections of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor agents have a limited effect in patients with CSCR. Recent reports have not demonstrated an advantage for this treatment in regards to anatomic and functional outcome. Micropulse diode laser was not proven to be safer or more effective than argon laser or PDT. Corticosteroid antagonists, not tested in controlled trials, may have a beneficial effect in patients with CSCR. Aspirin may also play a role in treating these patients, with rapid recovery of visual acuity and reduced number of recurrences observed. In conclusion, imaging is evolving rapidly while the clinical implications of these new imaging modalities are less clear. Large randomized trials investigating different treatment modalities are still lacking.

Abstract
Recent technological advances--new pathophysiological insights, new imaging techniques for diagnosis and management, and new treatments--have led to an improved understanding of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). The primary role of the choroid has become more widely accepted with widespread use of indocyanine green angiography. Optical coherence tomography (OCT), and particularly enhanced depth imaging OCT, demonstrate a thickened and engorged choroid. Adaptive optics, fundus autofluorescence, multifocal electroretinography, microperimetry, and contrast sensitivity testing reveal that patients with even a mild course suffer previously undetected anatomic and functional loss. Although focal laser and photodynamic therapy are the current standard of care for persistent subretinal fluid in CSC, they are not appropriate in all cases, and the optimal timing of intervention remains unclear.

Abstract
Purpose To report the outcome of 10 patients with optic pit maculopathy (OPM) and evaluate the role of small-gauge vitrectomy, gas endotamponade, and additional laser photocoagulation treatment. Methods We retrospectively investigated 10 patients who underwent small-gauge, sutureless vitrectomy for OPM, detachment of the posterior hyaloid, internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling, endolaser photocoagulation on the temporal margin of the optic disc, and gas tamponade. Preoperative and postoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was recorded and optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging was performed. Results Seven out of 10 patients gained at least 2 lines of vision; 2 patients gained 1 line of vision. Visual improvement occurred more than 3 months after surgery. One myopic patient developed a macular hole postoperatively, resulting in a poor functional result even though complete retinal attachment was achieved. The functional outcome did not always correlate well with the OCT imaging, in which complete retinal reattachment was observed in 5 out of 10 eyes. Conclusions The therapeutic approach should include both small-gauge vitrectomy and ILM peeling to relieve vitreoretinal traction, as well as laser photocoagulation of the temporal margin of the optic disc in order to prevent vitreous fluid from entering the subretinal/intraretinal space. In addition, the patients should be told that visual recovery can take a long time.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate, by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and multifocal electroretinography (mfERG), the macular function of eyes with choroidal neovascularisation due to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) before and after the intravitreal use of ranibizumab. METHODS Fifteen eyes with choroidal neovascularisation due to AMD were studied with OCT and mfERG before, during and at the end of the treatment, one year after the first injection of ranibizumab. The eyes received 0.5 mg ranibizumab every month for the first three months, followed by doses every three months. Thus, during the 12-month study, a total of six ranibizumab injections were given. RESULTS The level of visual acuity increased significantly with time. A linear mixed-effect analysis showed a borderline negative association between the amount of foveal thickness and time, with a decrease in the mean foveal thickness for one time increment. The retinal response density of the mfERG showed a significant increase in ring 1 and remained almost unchanged in ring 2, whereas there was a statistically insignificant increase in ring 3. Finally, the mean latency remained unchanged throughout the 12 months of treatment in all three rings. CONCLUSION The intravitreal use of ranibizumab might result in an increase of the mfERG in the foveal area. Only a borderline inverse association was shown between the amount of foveal thickness and time. Also, the level of visual acuity statistically significantly improved over time. Randomised long-term clinical trials are needed to determine the potential clinical benefit of ranibizumab.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the fundus autofluorescence (FAF) abnormalities in central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) and evaluate potential correlations with visual acuity. DESIGN Retrospective, observational case series. PARTICIPANTS Four hundred seventy-five eyes of 238 patients with CSC. METHODS Consecutive patients with CSC underwent FAF imaging, as well as routine ophthalmologic examinations. Confluent hypoautofluorescence was defined as a region of absent autofluorescence greater than one fourth of a disk diameter. Granular hypoautofluorescence was defined if there was a grainy or coarse region of decreased fluorescence as compared with normal surrounding areas greater than one fourth of a disc diameter in size. A descending tract was a downward leading swathe of decreased autofluorescence originating from the posterior pole to extend below the inferior arcade. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES The pattern and frequency of FAF abnormalities and their correlations with corrected visual acuity. RESULTS The mean age of the subjects was 57.1 years (standard deviation, 13.3), and 181 (76.1%) were male. Confluent and granular hypoautofluorescence was detected in the macula of 54 (11.4%) and 300 (63.2%) of 475 eyes, respectively. Descending tracts from the macula were observed in 43 (9.1%) eyes and from the optic disc in 43 (9.1%) eyes. Multiple regression analysis revealed that confluent hypoautofluorescence of the macula, granular hypoautofluorescence of the macula, and increasing age all were independent predictors of decreased visual acuity. CONCLUSIONS The FAF abnormalities in CSC show multiple distinct patterns and seem to provide functional information.
