Abstract
Three new diphenyltin(IV) complexes, bis(3-(4-methyl-2-oxoquinolinyl-1(2H)-yl)propanoato)diphenyltin(IV) (1), bis(2-(4-methyl-2-oxoquinolin-1(2H)-yl)ethanoato)diphenyltin(IV) (2), and bis(2-(4-hydroxy-2-oxoquinolin-1(2H)-yl)ethanoato)diphenyltin(IV) (3), were synthesized and characterized by elemental microanalysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, and multinuclear (1H, 13C and 119Sn) NMR spectroscopy. Crystal structure of ligand precursor, 2-(4-methyl-2-oxoquinolinyl-1-(2H)-yl)acetic acid (HL2), has been determined by X-ray diffraction studies. Asymmetric bidentate coordination of the carboxylato ligands and skew trapezoidal structures are assumed for the synthesized complexes. In vitro anticancer activity of the synthesized diphenyltin(IV) complexes was evaluated against three human: MCF-7 (breast adenocarcinoma), A375 (melanoma), HCT116 (colorectal carcinoma), and three mouse tumor cell lines: 4T1 (breast carcinoma), B16 (melanoma), CT26 (colon carcinoma) using MTT and CV assays. The IC50 values fall in the range from 0.1 to 3.7 μM. Flow cytometric analysis and fluorescent microscopy suggest that complex 1 induces caspase-dependent apoptosis followed with strong blockade of cell division in HCT116 cells. Since complex 1 showed ROS/RNS scavenging potential mentioned cytotoxicity was not connected with oxidative stress.

Abstract
Aspects of the molecular and supramolecular structure of the new dinuclear [Ag(L)(NO3)]2 complex, where L is 2-((E)-(((E)-1-(thiazol-2-yl)ethylidene)hydrazono)methyl)phenol, were discussed. The complex was crystallized in the monoclinic crystal system and P21/n space group. The unit cell parameters are a = 10.3274(2) Å, b = 11.4504(3) Å, c = 12.7137(3) Å and β = 108.2560(10)°. The asymmetric unit comprised one [Ag(L)(NO3)] formula in which the azine and nitrate ligand groups act as NN- and OO-bidentate chelates, respectively. The coordination environment of the Ag(I) is completed by one weak Ag-O bond with another [Ag(L)(NO3)] unit, leading to the dinuclear formula [Ag(L)(NO3)]2. This was clearly revealed by Hirshfeld analysis. Additionally, the Ag…C, O…H and C…C intermolecular interactions played an important role in the molecular packing of the studied complex. The antimicrobial, antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of the [Ag(L)(NO3)]2 complex and the free ligand (L) were discussed. While the [Ag(L)(NO3)]2 complex showed very weak antioxidant activity, the results of the antifungal and cytotoxic activities were promising. The inhibition zone diameters (IZD) and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values were determined to be 31 mm and 20 μg/mL, respectively, against A. fumigatus, which is compared to 17 mm and 156 μg/mL, respectively, for the positive control Ketoconazole. Generally, the Ag(I) complex has better antimicrobial activities than the free ligand against all microbes except for S. aureus, where the free ligand has higher activity. Additionally, the IC50 value against colon carcinoma (HCT-116 cell line) was determined to be 12.53 ± 0.69 µg/mL, which is compared to 5.35 ± 0.49 µg/mL for cis-platin. Additionally, the Ag(I) complex displays better cytotoxicity than the free ligand (L) (242.92 ± 8.12 µg/mL).

Abstract
Organometallic complexes are an important class of synthetic reagents and are of
great interest due to their versatility and wide biological application. The cationic nature of the
coordination nucleus facilitates its interaction with biological molecules such as amino acids,
proteins, and nucleic acids. The functionalization of peptides or amino acids with organometallic
motifs is a novel strategy for the design and development of molecules with greater biological
activity, stability in biological environments, and selectivity for specific targets, which
make them valuable tools for designing and obtaining molecules with therapeutic applications.
The physicochemical properties of ferrocene make it ideal for drug development, due to its
structure, stability in aqueous solutions, redox properties, and low toxicity. In the same way,
organotin (IV) derivatives have great potential for drug development because of their multiple
biological activities, wide structural versatility, high degree of stability, and low toxicity.
However, the synthesis of these drugs based on organometallic molecules containing ferrocene or organotin (IV) is
quite complex and represents a challenge nowadays; for this reason, it is necessary to design and implement procedures
to obtain molecules with a high degree of purity, in sufficient quantities, and at low cost. This review describes
the strategies of synthesis used up to now for the preparation of organometallic amino acids and peptides
containing ferrocene or organotin (IV) derivates, as well as their impact on the development of therapeutic agents.

The triphenyltin carboxylate derivative triphenylstannyl 2-(benzylcarbamoyl)benzoate impedes prostate cancer progression via modulation of Akt/FOXO3a signaling. Abstract
Prostate cancer (PCa) incidence is surging in United States and other parts of the world. Synthetic and natural compounds have been explored as potential modulators of PI3K/Akt signaling that is known to drive PCa growth. Here, we evaluated the efficacy of a series of triphenyltin (IV) carboxylate derivatives against PCa. From this library, triphenylstannyl 2-(benzylcarbamoyl)benzoate (Ch-319) resulted in reduced viability and induction of cell cycle arrest in PTEN-/- PC3M and PTEN+/- DU145 cells. In parallel, downregulation of PI3K p85/p110 subunits, dephosphorylation of Akt-1 and increase in FOXO3a expression were observed. In silico studies indicated binding interactions of Ch-319 within the ATP binding site of Akt-1 at Met281, Phe442 and Glu234 residues. Elevated po-pulation of apoptotic cells, activation of Bax and reduced Bcl2 expression indicated apoptosis by Ch-319. Pre-sensitization of PCa cells with Ch-319 augmented the effect of cabazitaxel, a commonly used taxane in patients with castration-resistant PCa. Next, in a prostate-specific PTENp-/- mice, Ch-319 showed reduced weights of genitourinary apparatus as compared to DMSO treated controls. Histological studies indicated absence of neoplastic foci in Ch-319 treated prostates. Consistently, dephosphorylation of Akt-1, reduced expression of PRAS40 and androgen receptor and increase in FOXO3a were observed in treated group. Notably, no overt organ toxicity was noted in Ch-319 treated animals. Our studies identify Akt/FOXO3a signaling as a target of triphenyltin (IV) carboxylate Ch-319 and provide a molecular basis of its growth inhibitory effect in PCa cells. We propose that Ch-319 has the potential to be developed as an anticancer agent against PCa.

Abstract
Eight organotin(IV) complexes (C1-C8) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), multinuclear nuclear magnetic resonance (1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR), high resolution mass spectroscopy (HRMS) and single crystal X-ray structural analysis. Crystallographic data show that C1 was a tetranuclear 16-membered macrocycle complex, C2-C4 and C7 were centrosymmetric dimer distannoxane and there was a Sn2O2 four-membered ring in the middle of the molecule, respectively, C5 and C6 are monoorganotin complexes due to the dehydroalkylation effect during the reaction, while C8 forms a one-dimensional chain structure. The cytotoxicity of all complexes were tested by 3-(4,5)-dimethylthiahiazo(-z-y1)-3,5-di-phenytetrazoliumromide (MTT) assays against three human tumor cell lines NCI-H460, MCF-7 and HepG2. The dibutyltin complex C2 has been shown to be more potent antitumor agents than other complexes and carboplatin. Cell apoptosis study of C2 with the high activity on HepG2 and MCF-7 cancer cell lines was investigated by flow cytometry, it was shown that the antitumor activity of C2 was related to apoptosis, but it has different cell cycle arrest characteristics from platinum compounds, and the proliferation was inhibited by blocking cells in S phase. The DNA binding activity of the C2 was studied by UV-visible absorption spectrometry, fluorescence competitive, viscosity measurements and gel electrophoresis, results shown C2 can be well embedded in the double helix of DNA and cleave DNA.

Abstract
Organotins(IV) exhibit significant in vitro anti-proliferative activity, while the in vivo tests are encouraging. The recent reports on the anti-proliferative activity of organotin(IV) compounds are summarized in this review. The period covered by this work goes back to 2009 until late 2018, while the earlier ones, are included over the previous review of our group published by S.K. Hadjikakou, N. Hadjiliadis, in Coord Chem Rev, 253 (2009) 235-249. During the last decade (2009-2018), >300 organotin(IV) derivatives with oxygen-donor ligands, such as carboxylic acids, amino-acids, Non Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), biological active derivatives or natural products, organotins(IV) with sulfur containing ligands such as thiones, thiosemicarbazones, dithiocarbamates, organotin(IV) compounds of oximes and organotins(IV) with amines or semicarbazones were screened for their anti-proliferative effect against various cancer cell lines and their results are included in numerous reports over this period. Although much work has been carried out on organotin(IV) derivatives with O-donor ligands, however significant fewer reports are found on organotins(IV) with oximes as ligands.

Abstract
The hydrolytic decomposition of four peptides containing S-aroylthiooximes (SATOs) with variable N-arylidene substituents was investigated in 10 aqueous buffer solutions at pH values ranging from 6.0 to 10.9. UV-vis spectroscopy was employed to study the reaction kinetics, which revealed V-shaped pH-rate profiles for all peptides with a minimum near pH 8, suggesting a change from an acid-catalyzed to a base-activated reaction. Hammett plots showed positive ρ values above pH 8 and negative ρ values below pH 8, providing further evidence for a mechanism change. Based on these data, along with mass spectral evidence, we propose specific acid catalysis under mildly acidic and neutral conditions and multiple base-promoted decomposition reactions under mildly basic conditions.

Abstract
PURPOSE Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) accounts for approximately 80% of the primary renal cancers, and current treatment strategies are not sufficient to provide a certain solution. Since there are not many treatment options, interest in discovery of alternative drugs has increased. METHODS In the current study, anticancer activity of a novel heterodinuclear Cu(II)-Mn(II) complex (Schiff base-SB) in combination with poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(propylene oxide) block copolymer (pluronic) P85 was tested against RCC. Cell viability, apoptosis and gene expression analysis were conducted in vitro by using Renca cells. RESULTS The results revealed that the SB-P85 combination decreased cell proliferation by increasing the apoptotic gene expressions and apoptosis. Renca-injected BALB/c mice were used to mimic early stage of RCC model. Treatment with SB-P85 combination suppressed tumor formation and growth compared to baseline. CONCLUSION Overall, SB-P85 showed promising anticancer activity against RCC in vitro and in vivo.

Abstract
The reaction of 3-(aryl)-2-sulfanylpropenoic acids [H2xspa; x: p=3-phenyl-, f=3-(2-furyl)-, t=3-(2-thienyl)-] with methanol or ethanol gave the corresponding methyl (Hxspme) or ethyl (Hxspee) esters. The reaction of these esters (HL) with triphenyltin(IV) hydroxide gave compounds of the type [SnPh3L], which were isolated and characterized as solids by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry and in solution by multinuclear (1H, 13C and 119Sn) NMR spectroscopy. The structures of [SnPh3(pspme)], [SnPh3(fspme)] and [SnPh3(fspee)] were determined by X-ray diffractometry and the antimicrobial activity against E. coli, S. aureus, B. subtilis, P. aeruginosa, Resistant P. aeruginosa (a strain resistant to 'carbapenem'), and C. albicans was tested and the in vitro cytotoxic activity against the HeLa-229, A2780 and A2780cis cell lines was determined for all compounds.

Abstract
Five new organotin(IV) complexes of compositions [Me2SnL1] (1), [Me2SnL2]n (2), [Me2SnL3] (3), [Ph3SnL1H]n (4) and [Ph3SnL3H] (5) (where L1=(2S)-2-((E)-((Z)-4-hydroxypent-3-en-2-ylidene)amino)-3-(1H-indol-3-yl)propanoate, L2=(2S)-(E)-2-((2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)-3-(1H-indol-3-yl)propanoate and L3=(2S)-(E)-2-((1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)ethylidene)amino)-3-(1H-indol-3-yl)propanoate were synthesized and spectroscopically characterized. The crystal structures of 1-4 were determined. For the dimethyltin derivative 2, a polymeric chain structure was observed as a result of a long Sn∙∙∙O contact involving the exocyclic carbonyl oxygen-atom from the tridentate ligand of a neighboring Sn-complex unit. The tin atom in this complex has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry, in which the long Sn-O bond is almost trans to the tridentate ligand nitrogen-atom. In contrast, the dimethyltin(IV) complexes 1 and 3 displayed discrete monomeric structures where the tin atom has distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry with the two coordinating L oxygen atoms defining the axial positions. On the other hand, 4 is a chain polymer in the solid state. The ligand-bridged Sn atoms adopt a trans-Ph3SnO2 trigonal-bipyramidal configuration with equatorial phenyl groups. A carboxylato oxygen atom from one and the hydroxyl oxygen of the successive ligand in the chain occupy the axial positions. The solution structures were predicted by the use of 119Sn NMR chemical shifts. The photophysical properties of the complexes were investigated in the solid and in solution. The triphenyltin(IV) compound 4 was tested in detail ex vivo against A375 (human melanoma) cell line, exhibiting an IC50 value of 261nM to induce cell death as assessed by the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay without significant alteration of cytolysis as determined by lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assay. Compound 4-mediated potent cell death was also determined by Live and Dead assay and caspase-mediated cleavage of poly-ADP ribose polymerase (PARP). Potent cell death activity was not observed in primary cells, like blood-derived peripheral mononuclear cells (PBMC). Compound 4 inhibited the diphenyl hexatriene (DPH) binding to cells and decreased the micro viscosity in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, the ability of 4 and cyclodextrin (CD) to interact was determined by molecular modelling.

Abstract
Synthesis and spectroscopic properties of seven new dibutyltin(IV) compounds of 2-{(E)-4-hydroxy-3-[(E)-4-(aryl)iminomethyl]phenyldiazenyl}benzoic acids (LnHH'; n=2-8) with general formula {[Bu2Sn(LnH)]2O}2 (1-7) are reported. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and by UV-Visible, fluorescence, IR, 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR spectroscopies. Solid state structures of dibutyltin(IV) compounds 1-3, 6 and 7 were accomplished from single crystal X-ray crystallography which reveal the common ladder-type structure with two endo- and two exo-Sn atoms. The redox properties of LnHH' (n=2-4, 7 and 8) and their diorganotin(IV) compounds 1-3, 6 and 7 were also investigated by cyclic voltammetry. In general, the dibutyltin(IV) derivatives exhibited significant in vitro cytotoxic potency towards A375 (melanoma) and HCT116 (colon carcinoma) cell lines as determined by several experiments, like Live and Dead assay, MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) cell viability assay, LDH (lactate dehydrogenase), cleavage of caspases and PARP (poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase), and DNA fragmentation. Dibutyltin(IV) compounds increase cell death without cytolysis and decreases membrane fluidity, without interfering with p53. Among the dibutyltin(IV) compounds, compound 6 was found to be the most potent, with an IC50 value of 78nM. A mechanism of action for tumor cell death is proposed.

Abstract
Dimethyl[N-(4-oxidopent-3-en-2-ylidene)valinato-κ(3)O,N,O']silicon(IV), C12H21NO3Si, (II), crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P2₁2₁2₁. The chiral compound undergoes two sharp enantiotropic phase transitions upon cooling. The first transformation occurs at 163 K to yield a unit cell with one axis having double length. This intermediate-temperature form has the monoclinic space group P2₁. The second transition takes place at 142 K and converts the single crystal into the low-temperature form in the orthorhombic space group P2₁2₁2₁. This transition proceeds under tripling of the a axis of the high-temperature form. Both phase transitions are fully reversible and correspond to order-disorder transitions of the isopropyl group of the valine unit in the ligand backbone. The phase transitions presented here raise questions, since they do not fit into the rules of group-subgroup relationships.
