Abstract
The objective of this study was to develop a kit formulation for [(99m) TcN(mpo)(PNP5)](+) (MPO = 2-mercaptopyridine oxide), ((99m) TcN-MPO) to support its clinical evaluations as a SPECT radiotracer. Radiolabeling studies were performed using three different formulations (two-vial formulation and single-vial formulations with/without SnCl2 ) to explore the factors influencing radiochemical purity (RCP) of (99m) TcN-MPO. We found that the most important factor affecting the RCP of (99m) TcN-MPO was the purity of PNP5. (99m) TcN-MPO was prepared >98% RCP (n = 20) using the two-vial formulation. For single-vial formulations with/without SnCl2 , β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) is particularly useful as a stabilizer for PNP5. The RCP of (99m) TcN-MPO was 95-98% using β-CD, but its RCP was only 90-93% with γ-cyclodextrin (γ-CD). It seems that PNP5 fits better into the inner cavity of β-CD, which forms more stable inclusion complex than γ-CD in the single-vial formulations. The results from biodistribution and imaging studies in Sprague-Dawley rats clearly demonstrated biological equivalence of three different formulations. Single photon-emission computed tomography data suggested that high quality images could be obtained at 0-30-min post-injection without significant interference from the liver radioactivity. Considering the ease for (99m) Tc-labeling and high RCP of (99m) TcN-MPO, the non-SnCl2 single-vial formulation is an attractive choice for future clinical studies.

Abstract
The interaction between peracetylated beta-cyclodextrin and several triphenyl phosphine derivatives was studied in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) by UV-visible spectroscopy. The equilibrium constant for a 1:1 complexation reaction was obtained from titration spectra and calculated using two established mathematical models. The values of the equilibrium constants are 1-3 orders of magnitude smaller than those obtained in aqueous solution with analogous phosphines. This is likely due to the absence in scCO2 of the hydrophobic effect, which is replaced by a corresponding, but weaker, CO2-phobic effect. The largest value of Kf was found for complexes of diphenyl(4-adamantylphenyl)phosphine, which is rationalized on the basis of the excellent fit of the phosphine in the cyclodextrin cavity, leading to enhanced host-guest van der Waals interactions. This study can be considered the first step toward the comprehension of the complexation thermodynamics of modified cyclodextrins soluble in scCO2.

Abstract
Using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, we investigate the interfacial distribution of partners involved in the phase transfer rhodium catalyzed hydroformylation of olefins promoted by beta-cyclodextrins (beta-CDs). The beta-CDs, the reactant (alkene), product (aldehyde), several rhodium complexes (the catalyst, its precursor, and its alkene adduct) are simulated at the water-"oil" interface, where oil is represented by chloroform or hexane. It is shown that unsubstituted beta-CD and its 6-methylated and 2,6-dimethylated analogues adsorb at the interface, whereas the liposoluble permethylated CD does not. The precursor of the catalyst [RhH(CO)(TPPTS)3]9- (with triphenylphosphine trisulfonated TPPTS3- ligands) sits in water, but the less charged [RhH(CO)(TPPTS)2]6- catalyst and the [RhH(CO)(TPPTS)2(alkene)]6- reaction intermediate are clearly surface active. The TPPTS3- anions also concentrate at the interface, where they adopt an amphiphilic conformation, forming an electrical double layer with their Na+ counterions. Thus, the most important key partners involved in the hydroformylation reaction concentrate at the interface, thereby facilitating the reaction, a process which may be further facilitated upon complexation by CDs. These results point to the importance of adsorption at the liquid-liquid interface in the two-phase hydroformylation reaction of olefins promoted by beta-CDs and provide microscopic pictures of this peculiar region of the solution.

Abstract
A new class of cationic alpha-cyclodextrins bearing 2-hydroxy-3-trimethylammoniopropyl groups has been synthesised. We investigated their efficiency as mass-transfer promoters in a biphasic hydroformylation reaction catalysed by a rhodium trisulfonated triphenylphosphine system. These cationic alpha-cyclodextrins greatly increased the reaction rate, the chemoselectivity, and, surprisingly, the linear-to-branched aldehyde ratio. We attributed this unexpected enhancement of the linear-to-branched aldehyde ratio to the in situ formation of new catalytic supramolecular species obtained by ion-exchange between the catalyst ligand and the cationic alpha-cyclodextrins.
