Complexing Properties of Synthesized 1,3,5-Triaza-7-Phosphaadamantane Derivatives Towards Some Lanthanides and Transition Metal Cations With Significant Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Activities

The synthesis of new water-soluble N-alkylated derivatives of 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane is presented. Ru(PPh3)2Cl2 has been used to react with 1-(4-nitrobenzyl)-3,5-triaza-1-azonia-7-phosphaadamantane bromide (PTAR). By using elemental analysis, NMR, and IR spectroscopy, the obtained compounds were identified. The UV-visible absorption spectroscopy has been used to monitor the complexation of various transition metal cations. Studies on conductivity have been utilized to validate the complexes' stoichiometries. Using the disc diffusion method, five bacteria strains were used for the study of the antimicrobial activity of compounds 1-3. All tested pathogens, including M luteus LB 141107, were found to have strong biologic activity against the compounds tested in this study. Additionally, DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) has been tested for its ability to scavenge hydrogen peroxide and free radicals. According to our results, these compounds exhibit excellent radical scavenging properties.

Synthesis, Structure, and Characterization of Thiacalix[4]-2,8-thianthrene

Sulfur-containing macrocycles have attracted substantial interest because they exhibit unique characteristics due to their polygonal ring-shaped skeleton. In this study, a thianthrene-based cyclic tetramer with the sulfur linker, thiacalix[4]-2,8-thianthrene (TC[4]TT), was successfully prepared from a cyclo-p-phenylenesulfide derivative using acid-induced intramolecular condensation. Single crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that TC[4]TT adopts an alternative octagonal form recessed to the inner side. Its internal cavity included small solvents, such as chloroform and carbon disulfide. Due to its polygonal geometry, TC[4]TT laminated in a honeycomb-like pattern with a porous channel. Furthermore, TC[4]TT showed fluorescence and phosphorescence emission in a CH₂Cl₂ solution at ambient and liquid nitrogen temperatures. Both emission bands were slightly redshifted compared with those of the reference compounds (di(thanthren-2-yl)sulfane (TT₂S) and thianthrene (TT)). This work describes a sulfur-containing thiacalixheterocycle-based macrocyclic system with intriguing supramolecular chemistry based on molecular tiling and photophysical properties in solution.

Synthesis and crystal structure of a sulphur-bridged molecular hoop consisting of 5,7,12,14-tetrathiapentacene

A cyclic dimer consisting of 5,7,12,14-tetrathiapentacene (TC[2]TTP) forms a new extended series of thiacalix[n]arenes, and was successfully synthesized by an intramolecular Friedel–Crafts-type condensation of the macrocyclic precursor. TC[2]TTP was characterized using ¹H and ¹³C nuclear magnetic resonance and high-resolution mass spectrometry. Its hoop-shaped molecular structure was determined by X-ray crystallography. The two-tub-shaped TTP formed a hexagonal geometry via a sulphur linker, and TC[2]TTP adopted a honeycomb structure with columnar stacking in the crystal structure. Furthermore, TC[2]TTP exhibited crystal polymorphism, which incorporated appropriate organic solvents such as CHCl₃, benzene, and toluene into its internal cavity. This suggests that TC[2]TTP is a candidate for the components of cavity-assembled porous solids based on molecular tiling.

5,7,12,14-Tetrathiapentacene (TC[2]TTP) was synthesized by an intramolecular Friedel–Crafts-type condensation, adopting a honeycomb structure with columnar stacking. X-ray crystallography revealed polymorphisms with organic solvents incorporated into its internal cavity.

One-pot three-component Biginelli-type reaction to synthesize 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2-(1H)-ones catalyzed by Co phthalocyanines: Synthesis, characterization, aggregation behavior and antibacterial activity

The synthesis of a novel phthalonitrile derivative with pyridine-2-thiol and 2,4,6-trimethylphenylamine substituents functionalized groups and its peripherally tetrasubstituted cobalt phthalocyanine and cationic phthalocyanines complexes were reported. The aggregation investigations carried out in different concentrations indicate that Co Phthalocyanines compounds 3,4 do not have any aggregation behavior for the concentration range of 6×10(-4)-14×10(-6)M in DMSO. The ion binding properties of Co Phthalocyanines compounds 3,4 show the formation of stable complex with Co(2+). In addition 3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one derivatives were synthesized by modified Biginelli cyclocondensation reaction catalyzed by MPc as Lewis base. The structures of the synthesized compounds have been successfully characterized by the spectroscopic methods (IR, (1)H NMR, (13C)NMR, UV-Vis, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis and NMR 2D). The influence of substrate/catalyst ratio, solvent was also investigated to find optimal reaction on this synthesis for getting the highest conversion. Different parameters were examined for finding optimal conditions of catalysis. In addition; the compounds 3-11 were investigated for antimicrobial activity. Most of them exhibited important antimicrobial activity.

Heterocyclic Nanographenes and Other Polycyclic Heteroaromatic Compounds: Synthetic Routes, Properties, and Applications

Two-dimensionally extended, polycyclic heteroaromatic molecules (heterocyclic nanographenes) are a highly versatile class of organic materials, applicable as functional chromophores and organic semiconductors. In this Review, we discuss the rich chemistry of large heteroaromatics, focusing on their synthesis, electronic properties, and applications in materials science. This Review summarizes the historical development and current state of the art in this rapidly expanding field of research, which has become one of the key exploration areas of modern heterocyclic chemistry.
