Abstract
Gallium metal and gallium compounds play significant roles in industry and medicine; however, their pollution and residue can pose potential risks to plants, animals and human health. Moreover, accurately detecting Ga3+ during tumor treatment holds great clinical significance. Therefore, it is crucial to reliably determine the content of Ga3+ in environmental and biological samples. Organic small-molecule fluorescent probe technology offers high selectivity and sensitivity, rapid detection speed, and non-destructive in situ bioimaging capabilities, making it an ideal approach for Ga3+ detection. The numerous reported probes for detecting Ga3+ highlight the immense application potential of fluorescent probes in this field. However, due to limited development of Ga3+-specific fluorescent probes thus far, several challenges associated with their design and development remain. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the performance achieved by Ga3+ fluorescent probes, while addressing existing issues and proposing corresponding solutions. Additionally, future directions for developing highly efficient Ga3+ fluorescent probes are outlined as valuable guidance.

Abstract
In this study, a novel dual-function probe BMP based on benzothiazole was easily synthesized and characterized through common optical technique. In the system consisting of DMF/H2O (v/v, 2/3), probe BMP showed azure and blue-green to Al3+ and Ga3+, respectively. Besides, the binding ratios of BMP to Al3+ and Ga3+ were determined as 1:1, which confirmed by Job's plot. Furthermore, for Al3+ and Ga3+, the limit of detection (LOD) was determined to be 1.51 × 10-6 M and 4.28 × 10-6 M, respectively. Moreover, it was worth noting that BMP showed good performances in paper colorimetry, cell phone colorimetric identification and cell imaging.

Abstract
We have developed a new naphthalimide-based amphiphile (YN-1) for the simultaneous detection of ATP and CTP. In YN-1, the cationic tyrosine-linked polyamine (+2 charge, hydrophilic unit) is appended at the -peri position of naphthalimide (hydrophobic unit). YN-1 and its Boc-protected compound 4 were characterized using state-of-the-art spectroscopic and optical techniques such as NMR, IR, UV-vis and fluorescence. The fluorescence data revealed that YN-1 showed a 'turn-on' (λem = 440 nm) fluorescence response for nanomolar detection of nucleoside triphosphates such as ATP and CTP in 20% HEPES buffer-DMSO solution. YN-1 also showed a concentration-based discrimination between ATP and CTP. YN-1 has been successfully applied for bioimaging of nucleoside triphosphates in MCF-7 live cancer cells with good compatibility. Therefore, the important findings from the present work will provide insight for future development of fluorescent probes to detect various kinds of essential nucleoside triphosphates.

Abstract
A novel hydrazone-based fluorescent probe (E)-3-((2-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)hydrazono)methyl)-4H-chromen-4-one (BTC) has been rationally designed and synthesized. BTC can subsequently detect Ga3+ and PPi ions through the absorption and emission off-on-off response with high specificity. Importantly, fluorescent probe BTC can well discriminate Ga3+ from Al3+ and In3+. The association constant (K) was calculated as 2.06 × 104M-1, and the limit of detection (LOD) was calculated as 4.88 × 10-2μM. Competitive binding studies also illustrated good results of the probe BTC towards Ga3+. Job's plot and HRMS results substantiated the 1:1 stoichiometry between BTC and Ga3+ ion. The interaction binding mode of BTC with Ga3+ was proposed by HRMS, 1H NMR spectral titration, UV-vis absorption and fluorescence spectral measurements. The combination of the restraint of the photo-induced electron transfer (PET) process and the chelation enhanced fluorescence (CHEF) process is responsible for the fluorescence enhancement of this probe. The in situ chelated BTC-Ga3+ could further monitor pyrophosphate ion (PPi) by demetallization process with quenching fluorescence emission. Additionally, the BTC and BTC-Ga3+ showed good cell permeability and could detect Ga3+ and PPi ions in onioninner epidermal cells, respectively.

Abstract
We report in this paper an unusual β-cyclodextrin mediated-aluminum (III) ion sensing based on augmented quenching of fluorescence. The fluorescent sensing of metal ions by a new ligand prepared (L = 4-[{4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl]imino}methyl]piperazine-1-carboxaldehyde) has been investigated as well as the effect of the supramolecular complex formation with β-CD. In aqueous solution, L shows an increase of fluorescence due to the interaction with β-cyclodextrin with a formation constant of 77 (± 12) M-1. The ROESY NMR spectrum clearly indicates that L is encapsulated by β-CD. Theoretical calculations show the possible structure both of the L-β-CD adduct and of the coordination mode of Al3+ ion to L. In the presence of β-CD, the piperazine adopts a distorted conformation. It leads to an enhanced Al3+ sensing by the compound in its supramolecular complexed form. The lower limit of detection of Al3+ ions is 6.00 × 10-8 mol L-1. This detection limit slightly expands for L in the presence of β-CD.

Abstract
A novel anthracene-based tetraperimidine hexafluorophosphate 3 was prepared, and its structure was determined through X-ray analysis, HRMS as well as 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. In the cationic moiety of 3, two (N-ethylperimidinyl–C2H4)2NCH2– arms were attached to the 9- and 10-positions of anthracene. In addition, compound 3 was used as a chemosensor to research the ability to recognize Cr3+ through fluorescence and UV titrations, HRMS, as well as 1H NMR and IR spectroscopy. The results indicate that 3 is an effective chemosensor for Cr3+.

Abstract
Rationally designed multiple hydroxyl-group-based chemosensors L1-L4 containing arene-based fluorophores are presented for the selective detection of Al3+ and Ga3+ ions. Changes in the absorption and emission spectra of L1-L4 in ethanol were easily observable upon the addition of Al3+ and Ga3+ ions. Competitive binding studies, detection limits, and binding constants illustrate significant sensing abilities of these chemosensors with L4, showing the best results. The interaction of Al3+/Ga3+ ions with chemosensor L4 was investigated by fluorescence lifetime measurements, whereas Job's plot, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and 1H NMR spectral titrations substantiated the stoichiometry between L4 and Al3+/Ga3+ ions. The solution-generated [L-M3+] species further detected pyrophosphate ion (PPi) by exhibiting emission enhancement and a visible color change. The binding of Al3+/Ga3+ ions with chemosensor L4 was further supported by density functional theory studies. Reversibility for the detection of Al3+/Ga3+ ions was achieved by utilizing a suitable proton source. The multiionic response, reversibility, and optical visualization of the present chemosensors make them ideal for practical applications for real samples, which have been illustrated by paper-strip as well as polystyrene film-based detection.
