Preparation of Ag/AgBr–Bi2MoO6 Plasmonic Photocatalyst Films with Highly Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity

Fabrication of a Novel AgBr/Ag2MoO4@InVO4 Composite with Excellent Visible Light Photocatalytic Property for Antibacterial Use

A novel AgBr/Ag2MoO4@InVO4 composite photocatalyst with different heterojunction structures was successfully constructed by compounding InVO4 with Ag2MoO4 and AgBr. According to the degradation, antibacterial and free radical trapping data, the photocatalytic antibacterial and antifouling activities of AgBr/Ag2MoO4@InVO4 composite were evaluated, and the corresponding photocatalytic reaction mechanism was proposed. Adding AgBr/Ag2MoO4@InVO4 composite, the degradation rate of ciprofloxacin (CIP) achieved 95.5% within 120 min. At the same time, the antibacterial rates of Escherichia coli (E. coli), Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) achieved 99.99%. The AgBr/Ag2MoO4@InVO4 composite photocatalyst showed promising usage in photocatalytic antibacterial and purification areas.

Bi2MoO6 nanofilms on the stainless steel mesh by PS-PED method: Photocatalytic degradation of diclofenac sodium as a pharmaceutical pollutant

For the first time, Bi₂MoO₆ nanofilms were successfully synthesized by simultaneous pulse sonication-pulse electrodeposition (PS-PED) on the stainless steel mesh surface. Bismuth molybdate films were formed under various combinations of electrodeposition and sonication (sono-electrodeposition) in continuous and pulse modes. Porous Bi₂MoO₆ films synthesized by PS-PED method and showed the highest efficiency in photocatalytic degradation in comparison with other films. Bi₂MoO₆ film obtained from PS-PED had a thickness of 13.78 nm while, the thickness for the electrodeposition method was 39.52 nm. The high photocatalytic efficiency is attributed to the high surface roughness and low thickness of film synthesized by PS-PED method. Indeed, ultrasound played a key role in the synthesis of films with high surface roughness. On the other hand, shock waves and micro-jets could be dissolved diffusion problems and reduced the dendrite like structures in deposition process. Simultaneous application of pulse modes for both combined methods led to more growth of crystallographic planes. This is due to reaction of ions on the surface in interval relaxation times and produce more nuclei for growth. In order to obtain a high efficiency, response surface methodology was used for optimization of effective variable parameters (t_on, t_off and sonication amplitude) in film preparation.

The effective photocatalysis and antibacterial properties of AgBr/AgVO3 composites under visible-light

With the discharge of large amount of organic pollutants and antibiotics into the water environment, the water cycle has been seriously polluted, and at the same time, various drug-resistant bacteria have emerged in succession, which poses a serious threat to human health. In recent years, photocatalytic nanomaterials have become a research hotspot in the antimicrobial area. In this study, AgBr/AgVO3 photocatalysts were prepared by a hydrothermal process and an in situ growth method. The composites were tightly connected by the (501) plane of AgVO3 and the (200) lattice plane of AgBr. The photocatalytic activity was tested by degrading Rhodamine B (RhB) solution under visible-light, and the result indicated that the photodegradation rate for RhB solution was 92.3% by the photocatalysis with 0.5AgBr/AgVO3 and the photocatalytic performance of 0.5AgBr/AgVO3 was improved compared to pure AgVO3 and AgBr. In addition, more than 99.997% of E. coli, S. aureus, and P. aeruginosa cells were killed by the photocatalysis with 0.5AgBr/AgVO3 within 30 min. These results demonstrated that the 0.5AgBr/AgVO3 heterojunction photocatalyst could be widely used in the treatment of environmental pollution and in the antibacterial field.

Wide spectral response photothermal catalysis-fenton coupling systems with 3D hierarchical Fe3O4/Ag/Bi2MoO6 ternary hetero-superstructural magnetic microspheres for efficient high-toxic organic pollutants removal

3D hierarchical Fe₃O₄/Ag/Bi₂MoO₆ magnetic microspheres are fabricated through hydrothermal-photoreduction strategy, which fabricate an advanced photocatalytic-Fenton coupling system. The H₂O₂ produced by photocatalysis could form the photo-Fenton system when combined with Fe₃O₄ under light illumination. The introduction of Ag nanoparticles could induce the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), which provides "hot electrons" for promoting photocatalysis. The addition of Fe₃O₄ achieve the successful coupling of photocatalysis-Fenton, and enhanced the broad spectrum response of the final composite sample. The 3D hierarchical Fe₃O₄/Ag/Bi₂MoO₆ exhibit excellent UV-Vis-NIR-driven photocatalytic performance for mineralization of high-toxic Aatrex and Bisphenol A. The addition of magnetic Fe₃O₄ is conducive to the magnetic separation, which favors practical application. The strategy provides thought-provoking insights for constructing new types of high-performance photocatalytic system.
