Abstract
A new type of uniformly dispersed selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) was prepared using Antarctic ice microalgae polypeptides (AIMP) as the stabilizer and dispersant. Different characterization techniques and tests show that the SeNPs are effectively combined with AIMP through physical adsorption and hydrogen bonding to form a more stable structure. Orange-red, zero-valence, amorphous, and spherical AIMP-SeNPs with a diameter of 52.07 ± 1.011 nm and a zeta potential of -41.41 ± 0.882 mV were successfully prepared under the optimal conditions. The AIMP-SeNPs had significantly higher DPPH, ABTS and hydroxyl radicals scavenging abilities compared with AIMP and Na2SeO3, and prevented the growth of both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria by disrupting the integrity of cell walls, cell membranes and mitochondrial membranes. The AIMP-SeNPs had higher gastrointestinal stability compared with SeNPs. Thus, this research highlights the crucial role of AIMP as a biopolymer framework in the dispersion, stabilization, and size management of SeNPs and concludes that AIMP-SeNPs can be exploited as a potent antioxidant supplement and antibacterial substance in foods and medicine.

Abstract
Deep eutectic solvents (DES) have demonstrated their ability to facilitate skin penetrability of rigid nanoparticles (NPs). Here, we reported a feasible and simple transdermal delivery strategy using mesoporous silica nanoparticles impregnated in DES hydrogels for topical management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). To achieve this goal, nanoceria was immobilized within a silica nanoparticle matrix (MSN) and encapsulated with methotrexate (MTX). The functionalized nanoparticles were first engineered in an Arginine (Arg)-citric acid (CA) DES and then transferred to the carbomer hydrogel matrix. Due to the strong affinity of DES hydrogels to the skin, combined with solvent-driven "Drag" effects, the prepared DES-MSNs hydrogels produced dynamic mobility of MSNs through skin layers, resulting in high skin penetrability. After application to the skin, the hydrogel solvent drove the rigid NPs across the skin barrier in a nonintrusive manner, resulting in sustained penetration and accumulation of MSNs at subcutaneous inflammation sites. Subsequently, the MTX payload exerted a direct therapeutic effect, while nanoceria moderated the inflammatory microenvironment by initiating reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging and transformation of the macrophage phenotype. In this way, the synergistic action of the combination of immuno- and chemotherapy of the drug and its carrier on RA was achieved. Our work provides a novel strategy for multisite regulation and controlled management of RA in a noninvasive way.

Abstract
AbstractDeveloping drug delivery carriers for highly selective, controlled, and sustained release of the anti-cancer drugs is one of the crucial issues in the cancer strive. We herein report the synthesis of Fe3O4 (M) and SiO2 (S) nanoparticles and their nanocomposites with chitosan (CS) for high loading efficiency and subsequent release potentiality of Doxorubicin (DOX) anticancer drug. The as-synthesized nanostructures were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and thermal analysis techniques. The average crystallite sizes of the as-prepared M, S, CS/M, CS/S, and CS/M/S nanostructures were found to be 5, 15, 70, 22, and 29 nm, respectively. The loading and cumulative release of Doxorubicin for the produced nanostructures were examined, and the results exhibited loading efficacy of 71%, 95%, 96%, 79%, 17%, and 42% for M, S, CS, CS/M, CS/S, and CS/M/S nanostructures, respectively. The Doxorubicin releasing results revealed a promising cumulative release percentages at pH 4.2 and pH 5 compared with those at pH 7.4. At pH 4.2, the cumulative release percentages for DOX-M, DOX-S, DOX-CS, DOX/M, and DOX/CS/M/S were 94%, 96%, 92%, 95%, and 98%, respectively. While the corresponding percentages at pH 5 were 97%, 90%, 46%, 43%, and 70%. The percentage for DOX-CS/S was 60% at pH 5, though. The in-vitro cytotoxicity of M-DOX, CS-DOX, and M/CS-DOX was explored against two human cancer cell lines (MCF-7 and Hep-G2) using SRB (Sulforhodamine B) assay. The DOX-loaded M/CS exhibited the highest cytotoxicity and its IC50 values were 2.65 and 2.25 μg/mL against Hep-G2 and MCF-7 cell lines, respectively, compared to the corresponding values of 5.1 and 4.5 μg/mL for free DOX. The results indicated that M/CS nanocomposite is a good candidate as drug delivery nano-carrier for the Doxorubicin anti-cancer drug.
