Abstract
Inspired by its large specific surface area, and tunable chemical and physical properties, a hollow carbon-based mater8ial derived from ZIF-8 with phosphate groups (HCM-PO4) was prepared for the elimination of U(VI). The structural and surface features of HCM and HCM-PO4 were thoroughly examined using techniques such as SEM, TEM, and XRD. The resulting carbon material, HCM-PO4, exhibits a higher BET surface area of 571.2 m2·g-1, featuring a hollow structure. The removal procedure of HCM-PO4 for U(VI) aligns with the quasi-secondary kinetic model. Furthermore, the theoretical sorption capacity of HCM-PO4 was found to be 482.30 mg·g-1 at 298.15 K. The results obtained from XPS, FT-IR, and EDS analysis of HCM-PO4 after adsorption revealed the coordination of the phosphate group for U(VI), contributing significantly to the adsorption process. In brief, the HCM-PO4 demonstrates excellent adsorptive ability, positioning it as a hopeful expectant to remove U(VI) from wastewater.

Abstract
In this study m-AHLPICS (magnetic Arachis hypogaea leaves powder impregnated into chitosan) was prepared and utilized as an adsorbent to remove U(VI) from aqueous and real polluted wastewater samples. m-AHLPICS was characterized by using the BET, XRD, FTIR, SEM with elemental mapping and magnetization measurements. Different experimental effects such as pH, dose, contact time, and temperature were considered broadly. Chitosan modified magnetic leaf powder (m-AHLPICS) exhibits an excellent adsorption capacity (232.4 ± 5.59 mg/g) towards U(VI) ions at pH 5. Different kinetic models such as pseudo-first-order, and pseudo-second-order models were used to know the kinetic data. Langmuir, Freundlich and D-R isotherms were implemented to know the adsorption behavior. Isothermal information fitted well with Langmuir isotherm. Kinetic data followed by the pseudo-second-order kinetics (with high R2 values, i.e., 0.9954, 0.9985 and 0.9971) and the thermodynamic data demonstrate that U(VI) removal using m-AHLPICS was feasible, and endothermic in nature.

Abstract
Water is essential for every living being. Increasing population, mismanagement of water sources, urbanization, industrialization, globalization, and global warming have all contributed to the scarcity of fresh water sources and the growing demand of such resources. Securing and allocating sufficient water resources has thus become one of the current major global challenges. Membrane technology has dominated the field of water purification due to its ease of usage and fabrication with high efficiency. The development of novel membrane materials can hence play a central role in advancing the field of membrane technology. It is noted that polymer-clay nanocomposites have been used widely for treatment of waste water. Nonetheless, not much efforts have been put to functionalize their membranes to be selective for specific targets. This review was organized to offer better insights into various types of functional polymer and clays composite membranes developed for efficient treatment and purification of water/wastewater. Our discussion was extended further to evaluate the efficacy of membrane techniques employed in the water industry against major chemical (e.g., heavy metal, dye, and phenol) and biological contaminants (e.g., biofouling).

Abstract
The UO22+ biosorption properties of a lichen, Evernia prunastri, from aqueous solutions were investigated. The widely occurring lichen samples were collected from the forest in Bilecik-Turkey. The UO22+ biosorption onto lichen was characterized by FT-IR and SEM-EDX analysis techniques before and after biosorption. The effects of the solution pH, biosorbent dosage, UO22+ concentration, contact time, and temperature on UO22+ biosorption on lichen sample were studied by using the batch method. The isotherm experimental data were described using isotherm models of Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin Radushkevich. The maximum UO22+ biosorption capacity of the lichen sample was estimated by the Langmuir equation to be 0.270 mol kg-1. The adsorption energy from the Dubin Radushkevich model was found to be 8.24 kJ mol-1. Kinetic data determined that the biosorption was best described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Thermodynamic findings showed that the biosorption process was endothermic, entropy increased and spontaneous. In conclusion, the lichen appears to be a promising biosorbent for the removal of UO22+ ions from aqueous solutions because of high biosorption capacity, easy usability, low cost, and high reusability performance.

Abstract
Uranium is a hazardous and radioactive element. Effective removal of uranium from wastewater stream requires advanced functional materials and reliable technologies. Red mud is a type of low-cost adsorbent which is widely used in the adsorption process. In the present work, we successfully modified the raw red mud to gain a series of highly efficient sorbents for uranium removal. They are nitric acid dealkalized red mud (DRM), aluminum nitrate modified red mud (ARM), and ferric nitrate modified red mud (FRM). The adsorption efficiencies of uranium(VI) by DRM, ARM, and FRM were 74.50, 95.56, and 98.75% in their optimal immobilization regions, respectively. The chemisorption of uranium dominates the adsorption process of FRM, while as to physical adsorption dominates the adsorption process of ARM and DRM. Both DRM and ARM reached their maximum adsorption capacities at 10 min while that for FRM occurred at 30 min. FRM performed much stronger anti-interference ability to the influence of carbonate and calcium. The outstanding adsorption ability of these modified red muds is mainly due to the enhancement of ion exchange, co-precipitation, and electrostatic attraction by red mud's active components and functional groups.

Abstract
A clean and simple method has been developed for preparation of interpenetrating polymer networks using polyacrylic acid (PAA) and chitosan (CS) for extraction of uranium from polluted water. The peak of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) occurred at 928 cm-1 indicating combination of uranium and PAA/CS. The energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and the scanning electron microscope (SEM) studies illustrated the formation of a crosslinking structure and excellent binding ability of uranium on PAA/CS. The maximum adsorption capacity was 289.6 mg g-1 calculated using the equation of the Langmuir model. The adsorption capacity reached a plateau at pH 4 and the sorption process fits the pseudo-second-order model well. The PAA/CS composite has stability of reuse, with the adsorbent capacity decreasing slowly with increasing usage frequency. The experimental results confirm that the PAA/CS hydrogel could be a novel alternative for highly efficient removal of uranium from wastewater.

Abstract
In this study, a versatile polymeric material was synthesized by grafting Calcon Carboxylic Acid (CCA), which is known as a chelating agent for some metal ions, to polyacrylamide (PAA) structure. Thus, the adsorptive properties of inert PAA polymer were significantly improved owing to this procedure. The obtained new material, CCA-g-PAA, was characterized by point zero charge (PZC), FTIR, SEM, and UV-VIS-NIR analysis. The adsorption properties of new material were investigated comprehensively and experimental variables were optimized such as pH, temperature, time, and concentration. Experimental data were evaluated by using theoretical adsorption models. The maximum adsorption capacity of material was calculated as 0.079molkg-1 by considering Langmuir equation. The constants calculated from Freundlich and DR model were found as 6.98 and 0.441, respectively. Adsorption kinetic was also explained with pseudo second order and intra particular diffusion models. Experimental studies were showed that adsorption was endothermic and occurred spontaneously. The developed material has important advantages such as reusability, cost-effective synthesis procedure, high adsorption capacity, and selectivity.

Abstract
Economic adsorbents in bead form were fabricated and utilised for the adsorption of Al(3+) from aqueous solutions. Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) beads, PAN powder and the thermally treated PAN beads (250 °C/48 h/Ar and 600 °C/48 h/Ar-H2) were characterised using different techniques including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, specific surface analysis (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller), thermogravimetric analysis as well as scanning electron microscopy. Effects of pH, contact time, kinetics and adsorption isotherms at different temperatures were investigated in batch mode experiments. Aluminium kinetic data best fit the Lagergren pseudo-second-order adsorption model indicating a one-step, surface-only, adsorption process with chemisorption being the rate limiting step. Equilibrium adsorption data followed a Langmuir adsorption model with fairly low monolayer adsorption capacities suitable for freshwater clean-up only. Various constants including thermodynamic constants were evaluated from the experimental results obtained at 20, 40 and 60 °C. Positive values of ΔH° indicated that the adsorption of Al(3+) onto all three adsorbents was endothermic with less energy input required for PAN powder compared to PAN beads and low-temperature thermally treated PAN. Negative ΔG° values indicated that the aluminium adsorption process was spontaneous for all adsorbents examined.
