Experimental and Computational Anticorrosion Behaviors of Pyrazole s-Triazine/anilino-morpholino Derivatives for Steel in Acidic Solutions. ACS OMEGA 2024; 9:31714-31731. Abstract
The corrosion inhibition of C-steel by two s-triazine/morpholino-anilino-pyrazole derivatives, namely, 4-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-6-morpholino-N-phenyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine (1) and N-(4-bromophenyl)-4-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-6-morpholino-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine (2) was investigated by impedimetric and potentiometric studies. It was found that (1) and (2) acted as cathodic-type corrosion inhibitors that retard the hydrogen evolution reaction. The percent corrosion inhibition, 98.5% for compound (2) (with bromo substituent) at 80 ppm, was slightly higher than 97.8% for (1) at 100 ppm. Thus, the replacement of a -H with -Br substituent increased the corrosion inhibition properties. Compound (2) exhibited Temkin isotherm adsorption, whereas compound (1) exhibited Langmuir adsorption. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of the steel surface indicated that the inhibitors caused protection of the surface. The weight loss experiment also proved the decrease in the corrosion rate when inhibitors were added. The difference in inhibitory efficiency between compounds (1) and (2) was investigated by density functional theory (DFT) to study neutral and protonated species in gaseous and aqueous phases. The theoretical analysis demonstrated that compound (2) exhibited higher inhibitory activity on a metal surface compared to compound (1), aligning with the experimental results. The energy associated with the metal/adsorbate arrangement, represented by dE ads/dNi , was higher for (2) (-380.91 kcal mol-1) compared to (1) (-371.64 kcal mol-1). This indicated better adsorption of (2) over (1).

Electrochemical and Spectral Studies on Benzylidenerhodanine for Sensor Development for Heavy Metals in Waters. APPLIED SCIENCES-BASEL 2022. Abstract
Electrochemical and spectral studies of benzylidenerhodanine (BR) were performed in order to develop new sensors for heavy metals (HMs) based on chemically modified electrodes (CMEs). CMEs were obtained by cycling and by controlled potential electrolysis at different potentials and charges. Film formation was demonstrated by recording the CV curves of CMEs in transfer solutions containing ferrocene in 0.1 M TBAP/CH3CN. BR-CMEs were used for the analysis of HMs. Samples of Cd(II), Pb(II), Cu(II), and Hg(II), each possessing concentrations between 10−7 and 10−5 M, were analyzed by using CMEs prepared in different conditions. The most intense signal was obtained for the Pb(II) ion. These BR-CMEs can be used for the analysis of Pb(II) in monitored waters. An electrochemical study was performed at different concentrations of BR in 0.1 M TBAP/CH3CN on a glassy carbon electrode by differential pulse voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry, and rotating disk electrode voltammetry. The complexation ratio in the homogeneous solution has been established by the Mollard method in acetonitrile solutions.

Abstract
Water pipes and drinking water quality deterioration in distribution systems and sea water desalination impose the use of corrosion inhibitors. The protective effect of spiropyrazole derivatives against Q235 steel and its adsorption performance were examined in solution of 1 M HCl utilizing TP (Tafel polarization), electrochemical frequency modulation (EFM), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests. The outcome data from hindrance efficiency rise with the dose of inhibitor. The orders of %IE of spiropyrazole derivatives are given: (1) > (2) > (3).It was noted that the values of EHOMO and ELUMO dropping in order run parallel to the improvement in %IE, which support the preceding order. EIS spectra exhibited one capacitive loop and approve the protective ability. Molecular docking was utilized to get a full picture on the binding mode among spiropyrazoles derivatives and the receptor of 3tt8-hormone of crystal structure examination of Cu human insulin derivative. The morphology of protected Q235 steel was evaluated by checking electron magnifying instrument innovation with energy dispersive X-beam spectroscopy (SEM–EDX).

Abstract
In this publication, a copper acetate-mediated rhodanine polymerization reaction is examined. It is demonstrated that at room temperature, Cu(II) acetate complexes with rhodanine generate solid nanospheres, which, upon heating in a microwave, results in polyrhodanine core-shell nano- and microsphere particles. The structural analysis of the polyrhodanine nanosphere produced by this efficient microwave-initiated method was conducted by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. In addition, it is verified that this template-free, efficient, and versatile synthesis of polyrhodanine nanospheres can also be accomplished by introducing a strong oxidant KMnO4 as a cocatalyst with copper acetate without compromising the morphology of the resulting core-shell nanospheres. It is also demonstrated that the polyrhodanine nanospheres can be used to adsorb methyl orange dye, a known contaminant in industrial wastewater.

Quinine sulfate: a pharmaceutical product as effective corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in hydrochloric acid solution. OPEN CHEM 2014. Abstract
AbstractQuinine sulfate dihydrate (QNS), IUPAC name: (8S,9R)-6-methoxy-4-quinolenyl-5-vinyl-2-quinuclidinyl methanol sulfate dihydrate, was tested as corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in 1.5 mol L−1 HCl solution using the potentiodynamic polarization and the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) associated with UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The electrochemical results showed that, the inhibition efficiency (IE) increased with the increase in QNS concentration, reaching a maximum value of 93.35±0.25%. The polarization resistance (R
p) followed the same trend, obtaining the highest value of 659.7 Ω cm2, while the corrosion current density (i
corr) reached the lowest level of 195 µA cm−2. The action mechanism of QNS was proposed considering the ability of quinine (QN) to be adsorbed on the metal surface via the lone pairs of electrons from hydroxyl oxygen atom, and/or from quinoline and quinuclidinic nitrogens. The occurrence of the complexes between inhibitor and iron ions was considered an additional process, which may contribute to protective layer formation. The Temkin adsorption isotherm was found as the best fitting for the degree of surface coverage (θ) values. In order to elucidate the mechanism of protective layer formation, the free energy of adsorption (ΔG
o
ads) value was calculated. This indicates that the inhibitor acts by chemical adsorption on the steel surface.

Abstract
The corrosion inhibition of mild steel by miconazole nitrate, an antifungal drug has been investigated using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique, and weight loss methods. The experimental results suggested miconazole nitrate is a good corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1 M hydrochloric acid medium. The inhibition efficiency increased with increase in inhibitor concentration. The thermodynamic parameters were determined and discussed. The inhibition was assumed to occur via adsorption of the inhibitor molecule on the surface of mild steel following Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
