Abstract
In this work synthesis, characterization and crystal structures of 1, Zn(II) complex ([ZnL1(NCS)2]), with (E)-1-(2-oxo-2-(2-(quinolin-2-ylmethylene)hydrazinyl)ethyl)pyridin-1-ium chloride (HL1Cl) and 2, Bi(III) complex ([BiHL2Cl4] × 1/2CH3OH), with (E)-N,N,N-trimethyl-2-oxo-2-(2-(1-(thiazol-2-yl)ethylidene)hydrazinyl)ethan-1-aminium chloride (HL2Cl), have been reported. Zn(II) complex possesses a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry while surroundings around Bi(III) ion are extended pentagonal bipyramidal. Antimicrobial activity, brine shrimp assay and DPPH radical scavenging activity of both complexes, including previously synthesized complexes with HL2Cl ligand (Zn(II) and Ni(II)) and complexes with (E)-N,N,N-trimethyl-2-oxo-2-(2-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene)hydrazinyl)ethan-1-aminium chloride (HL3Cl) (Zn(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), Co(II), Fe(III), Ni(II)), were evaluated. For the most active complexes, cytotoxic activity against five malignant cancer cell lines (HeLa, A375, MCF7, PC-3 and A549) and normal cell line HaCaT, as well as generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), was tested.

Abstract
A new trinuclear zinc(II) complex, [Zn3(L)(NCS)2](NO3)2·CH3OH·H2O (1), of a (N,O)-donor compartmental Schiff base ligand (H2L=N,N'-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)-1,3-diamino-2-propanol), has been synthesized in crystalline phase. The zinc(II) complex has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction study (PXRD), (1)H NMR, EI mass spectrometry and thermogravimetric analysis. PXRD revealed that 1 crystallizes in P-1 space group with a=9.218 Å, b=10.849 Å, c=18.339 Å, with unit cell volume is 2179.713(Å)(3). Fluorescence spectra in methanolic solution reflect that intensity of emission for 1 is much higher compared to H2L and both the compounds exhibit good fluorescence properties. The complex 1 exhibits significant catalytic activities of biological relevance, viz. catechol oxidase. In methanol, it efficiently catalyzes the oxidation of 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol (3,5-DTBC) to corresponding quinone via formation of a dinuclear species as [Zn2(L)(3,5-DTBC)]. Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) experiment suggests generation of radicals in the presence of 3,5-DTBC and it may be proposed that the radical pathway is probably responsible for conversion of 3,5-DTBC to 3,5-DTBQ promoted by complex of redox-innocent Zn(II) ion.

Abstract
Interaction of 1,3-bis(2-hydroxy-benzylidene)-urea (H2L1), 1,3-bis(2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzylidene)-urea (H2L2) and 1,3-bis(2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzylidene)-urea nickel(II) (NiL2) with calf-thymus DNA were investigated by UV-vis absorption, fluorescence emission and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy as well as cyclic voltammetry, viscosity measurements, molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation. Binding constants were determined using UV-vis absorption and fluorescence spectra. The results indicated that studied Schiff-bases bind to DNA in the intercalative mode in which the metal derivative is more effective than non metals. Their interaction trend is further determined by molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. MD results showed that Ni derivative reduces oligonucleotide intermolecular hydrogen bond and increases solvent accessible surface area more than other compounds.

Abstract
In the title compound, [Cu(C13H7BrCl2NO)2], or CuL2{where HL= 2-[(E)-(2-chlorophenylimino)methyl]-6-bromo-4-chlorophenol}, the CuIIatom is located on an inversion center and has a square-planar coordination. In the crystal, complex molecules are linked via Cu...Cl interactions [2.9933 (11) Å], forming a two-dimensional network parallel to thebcplane. They are also Cl...Cl interactions [3.3709 (14) Å] present, which consolidate the two-dimensional network structure.

Abstract
A series of β-diketone hydrazone derivatives have been synthesized through condensation of β-diketone with aromatic aldehydes followed by reaction with phenylhydrazine. The structure of the ligands and intermediates are well defined through elemental and spectroscopic analyses. These hydrazones are potential ligands toward lanthanide metal ions. New complexes of trivalent Scandium, Yttrium, Lanthanum, and Cerium have been synthesized. The composition of these complexes is discussed on the basis of elemental analyses, IR, magnetic moments, and thermal analyses. The prepared complexes were screened for antibacterial and antifungal properties and have exhibited potential activity.

Abstract
The title Schiff base compound, C(15)H(12)BrClN(2)O(2), crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The mol-ecules adopt an E configuration with respect to the C=N double bond. The dihedral angles between the benzene rings are 24.4 (2) and 9.4 (2)° in the two mol-ecules. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains running along the b axis.
