The role of green energy deployment and economic growth in carbon dioxide emissions: evidence from the Chinese economy

Factors affecting the green investment and assessing sustainable performance of firms in China

In the process of development, global economies are prioritizing environmental protection and firms are also recognizing the importance of minimizing environmental impact during production along with maximization of profits through green investments. It is vivid that green investments are vital for environmental preservation. So this paper contributes to literature by investigating the role of internal and external factors affecting the decision making of Chinese firms regarding adoption of green investments and impact of green investments on environmental, social, and economic performance of firms. The data is collected from directors/senior managers of the firms. We received 463 valid responses from listed companies with Shenzhen, Beijing, and Shanghai Stock Exchange. The "structural equation modeling" with "maximum likelihood estimation" is employed for empirical analysis. The empirical findings reveal that adaptation to climate change and its mitigation is the most important driver of green investment. Moreover, green investment positively contributes to enhancing the social, economic, and environmental performances of Chinese firms. Based on the findings of the study, green investment should be adopted as a corporate strategy by firms for profit maximization, competitive advantage, and improvement in social well-being without compromising the environment. Policy makers can promote green investment by offering policy instruments such as tax incentives, guaranteed credits, grants, and investor education. Training courses may be offered to raise environmental awareness among firms and the general public.

Environmental law, environmental policy stringency, and development of environmental technologies in China

China's fast industrialization and economic expansion has led to environmental degradation, prompting the government to implement a slew of environmental regulations and laws. This article examines how China's stringent environmental policies and legislation have impacted the development of environmental technology. The study's panel of Chinese companies confirmed that more stringent regulations really spurred innovation in green technology. This research lends credence to the premise that stricter environmental regulations are helpful in inspiring the development of cleaner technology that may help mitigate environmental issues. Research also shows that tighter environmental legislation increases environmental policy's effect on technological development. According to these results, environmental law may improve the efficiency of environmental policy by providing a hospitable framework for the application of technological innovation. The findings of this research have significant implications for Chinese policymakers committed to fostering sustainable development. The need of rigorous environmental rules to support comprehensive environmental policies that promote the development of greener technology is emphasized. The results shed even more light on how crucial it is to enforce environmental laws in order to ensure that environmental policies are effectively implemented. In essence, this study contributes to the expanding body of knowledge on the link between environmental policy and technical advancement by illuminating the potential for China's environmental policy and law to work together to encourage sustainable development. China's investment in green tech research and development may mitigate the environmental damage caused by its rapid economic growth.

Impact of green human resource management on green creativity in pharmaceutical companies: mediation role of green mindset

This research study analyzed the impact of green human resource management on the green creativity of the employees of the pharmaceutical companies of Lahore, Pakistan, with the mediating role of a green mindset and the moderating role of green concern. The convenience sampling technique was used to sample employees of pharmaceutical companies. The study was quantitative and cross-sectional in nature, and it used correlation and regression analysis to investigate the hypothesis. A sample of 226 employees (including managers, supervisors, and other staff members) was drawn from different pharmaceutical companies in Lahore, Pakistan. The results of the study indicate that green human resource management has a positive significant effect on the green creativity of employees. Findings further explain that the green mindset acts as a mediator and partially mediates the relationship between green human resource management and green creativity. Furthermore, this study examined the role of green concern as a moderator and the results explain the insignificant relation which shows that green concern does not moderate the relationship between the green mindset and green creativity of the employees of pharmaceutical companies in Lahore, Pakistan. The practical implications of this research study are also discussed.

Impacts of health expenditures and environmental degradation on health status—Disability-adjusted life years and infant mortality

Introduction

Human health and well-being are intimately related to environmental quality. In this respect, the present study contributes to the existing health economic literature by examining whether public and private health expenditures (PPHE) moderate the incidences of environmental degradation on the health status in Saudi Arabia, particularly disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) and infant mortality.

Methods

Using the fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS) method.

Results and Discussion

The empirical results revealed that (i) unconditional positive impacts of CO2 emissions on increasing DALYs and infant mortality; (ii) conditional negative impacts of public health expenditures on DALYs and infant mortality in all the estimated models, whereas global and private expenditure contribute only on reducing infant mortality; (iii) public health expenditure is more effective than private health expenditure in reducing infant mortality; (iv) the effects of the interactions between the indicators of both health expenditures and CO2 emissions on DALYs and infant mortality are negative and significant only for the specifications relating to public health expenditures, indicating that this later could be employed as a policy or conditional variable that moderates the adverse impacts of carbon emissions on the population’s health status. Generally, the study presents an overview of environmental health change’s effects and examine how these effects may be reduced through increasing health spending. The study provides recommendations for addressing health status, health expenditures, and carbon emissions, all of which are directly or indirectly linked to the study.

Role of the e-exhibition industry in the green growth of businesses and recovery

In this paper, a survey and two multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) models have been employed to explore critical success factors of e-exhibition in 30 Chinese provinces that is divided into 8 different regions. The research findings showed that in China, the most important success factors of e-exhibition to have green economic recovery are the presence of International collaboration (0.592), green culture (0.490), and visitor’s attitude (0.439). Furthermore, “Beijing and Tianjin” is the most ideal region to promote e-exhibition in China. South Coast region ranked in second place as the most appropriate region for e-exhibition. The least ideal region of China for e-exhibition is the Southwest region that is less developed compared to other regions of China. The major practical policies are the enhancement of international cooperation to hold an e-exhibition, use of electronic exhibition capacities (synchronous and asynchronous) and creating social sustainability awareness through the media and social network.
