New stability criterion of neural networks with leakage delays and impulses: a piecewise delay method

Hamiltonian energy in a modified Hindmarsh-Rose model

This paper investigates the Hamiltonian energy of a modified Hindmarsh-Rose (HR) model to observe its effect on short-term memory. A Hamiltonian energy function and its variable function are given in the reduced system with a single node according to Helmholtz's theorem. We consider the role of the coupling strength and the links between neurons in the pattern formation to show that the coupling and cooperative neurons are necessary for generating the fire or a clear short-term memory when all the neurons are in sync. Then, we consider the effect of the degree and external stimulus from other neurons on the emergence and disappearance of short-term memory, which illustrates that generating short-term memory requires much energy, and the coupling strength could further reduce energy consumption. Finally, the dynamical mechanisms of the generation of short-term memory are concluded.

Bifurcation and pattern dynamics in the nutrient-plankton network

This paper used a Holling-IV nutrient-plankton model with a network to describe algae's spatial and temporal distribution and variation in a specific sea area. The stability and bifurcation of the nonlinear dynamic model of harmful algal blooms (HABs) were analyzed using the nonlinear dynamic theory and de-eutrophication's effect on algae's nonlinear dynamic behavior. The conditions for equilibrium points (local and global), saddle-node, transcritical, Hopf-Andronov and Bogdanov-Takens (B-T) bifurcation were obtained. The stability of the limit cycle was then judged and the rich and complex phenomenon was obtained by numerical simulations, which revealed the robustness of the nutrient-plankton system by switching between nodes. Also, these results show the relationship between HABs and bifurcation, which has important guiding significance for solving the environmental problems of HABs caused by the abnormal increase of phytoplankton.

Resilient fixed-time stabilization of switched neural networks subjected to impulsive deception attacks

This article focuses on the resilient fixed-time stabilization of switched neural networks (SNNs) under impulsive deception attacks. A novel theorem for the fixed-time stability of impulsive systems is established by virtue of the comparison principle. Existing fixed-time stability theorems for impulsive systems assume that the impulsive strength is not greater than 1, while the proposed theorem removes this assumption. SNNs subjected to impulsive deception attacks are modeled as impulsive systems. Some sufficient criteria are derived to ensure the stabilization of SNNs in fixed time. The estimation of the upper bound for the settling time is also given. The influence of impulsive attacks on the convergence time is discussed. A numerical example and an application to Chua's circuit system are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Impact of leakage delay on bifurcation in high-order fractional BAM neural networks

The effects of leakage delay on the dynamics of neural networks with integer-order have lately been received considerable attention. It has been confirmed that fractional neural networks more appropriately uncover the dynamical properties of neural networks, but the results of fractional neural networks with leakage delay are relatively few. This paper primarily concentrates on the issue of bifurcation for high-order fractional bidirectional associative memory(BAM) neural networks involving leakage delay. The first attempt is made to tackle the stability and bifurcation of high-order fractional BAM neural networks with time delay in leakage terms in this paper. The conditions for the appearance of bifurcation for the proposed systems with leakage delay are firstly established by adopting time delay as a bifurcation parameter. Then, the bifurcation criteria of such system without leakage delay are successfully acquired. Comparative analysis wondrously detects that the stability performance of the proposed high-order fractional neural networks is critically weakened by leakage delay, they cannot be overlooked. Numerical examples are ultimately exhibited to attest the efficiency of the theoretical results.

Neutral impulsive shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks with time-varying coefficients and leakage delays

In this article, we consider a class of neutral impulsive shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks with time varying coefficients and leakage delays. We study the existence and the exponential stability of the piecewise differentiable pseudo almost-periodic solutions and establish sufficient conditions for the existence and exponential stability of such solutions. An example is provided to illustrate the theory developed in this work.

Passivity of memristor-based BAM neural networks with different memductance and uncertain delays

This paper addresses the passivity problem for a class of memristor-based bidirectional associate memory (BAM) neural networks with uncertain time-varying delays. In particular, the proposed memristive BAM neural networks is formulated with two different types of memductance functions. By constructing proper Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and using differential inclusions theory, a new set of sufficient condition is obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities which guarantee the passivity criteria for the considered neural networks. Finally, two numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed theoretical results.
